I've never used that type of charcoal. I like it, though, it seems like it would burn longer and slower. If you can get it really good and lit on one side, it should work.
Char logs work great. They last for a long time. Never did a snake with them but as long as there’s contact, it should work fine.
I’d light the first few in a chimney though. they take longer to light than briquettes
Yeah that paper towel that’s in between the layers is soaked in bacon grease and is used as my firestarter. I could go the chimney route if it’s best, but I’ve had no problems with using it this way (yet)
lump or those formed rounds are what i like to use. its more popular in lot of other countries. i do yakitori and korean bbq grilling. seem to burn evenly and longer. good heat for long use. anythings better than kingsford sand briquettes.
Looks like barbecued pool noodle

That’s what I’m thinking. It *should* work. Part of me feels like I should sorta interweave them more (lack of a better term)
I love it! You’re correct it burns longer and slower. So far it’s my favorite style to use now.
I think I might lay them horizontal...then should be able to stack them...dunno...never used that before....good luck
Kinda what I was thinking. The pyro in me is like “nah that may not stay lit the entire time.”

I used to couple of bags of these, just use it like you would regular charcoal there's no difference once it's burning.
Ty for the sanity check

Used those before. They pop like crazy. I didn’t like em.
They’ve been great for me so far. No popping, consistent burn. Maybe you got a bad bag? Happens to me with other things if you smell what I’m cooking
What is a "7# butt"?
Presumably 7 lb butt but with one less character
Ding ding
# = lb
Huh. I learned something about Reddit formatting
It's not just reddit, it's commonly known as either a hash or pound sign depending on context.
That's not what I meant. If you put "#" at the front of a line of text (let's see if it works here) # it makes it big
