The thing with Star Ocean (or Japanese media in general) is that they don't go too hard with alien designs. Creatures & Technology, yes, but just not sentient beings, well, anything that isn't a robot. Seriously, create a species that doesn't look human or with pointy ears/animal parts plopped on.
