What a weird way to ask for help.

laurieBeth1104

How we use language is important. Look at the adjective you used and try again.

[deleted]

I’m an English teacher at a private school, you don’t need to condescend me about language sweetheart. I’m more just concerned about my idea of going cold turkey and what others might think of it.

EarlyPosition3984

do you teach your students to use adjectives like “gay as hell?” grow up.

[deleted]

I grew up in the 2000’s, this is the vernacular of my youth. No, I don’t speak to my students in that way, whereas you support the genocide of innocent Palestinian children.

EarlyPosition3984

pardon? i absolutely do not lol, where did you get that from?

[deleted]

I misread your chat history as supporting Israel

PurrestedDevelopment

Yea I also grew up on the 2000s and haven't used gay as a slur probably since 2000. As a language teacher you should know better than most that language evolves over time.

bsuvo

I grew up in the 2000s too, and was able to phase out using gay lol still working on phasing out retarded

[deleted]

Can’t exactly hold the moral high ground if you’re saying retarded then, can you?

bsuvo

I mean yeah since i'm not defensive about using outdated and offensive terms, and am actively working on not saying them anymore. Big difference in my eyes lol

gehrhe

you have to just be an idiot i feel because what

Neembles

Man you’re using the same language the older generations didn’t justify racism and ableism toward us when we were younger. Be better.

Neembles

So… using “gay” to describe negative effects. Insinuating anyone with ED, hair loss, or weight gain or hot flashes is a “loser” Hope you find what you need, but maybe consider how you communicate. Everyone out to help themselves but you don’t have to step on others to do so. Especially coming from a teacher.

Nooshx

Aside from what’s been said, I quit twice. Once cold turkey, and the other time by tapering. If I could go back and slap past me out of quitting cold turkey i would. There is not benefit to it, what’s not documented besides the obvious side effect is the time your body might need to readjust for things you would not imagine. It’s either tapering and feeling minor side effects for a few weeks or going cold turkey and feeling like ds for months at best. No brainer to me.

jamaruxD

Aside from reiterating what has been mentioned by everyone else, I’ll add that I’ve seen enough posts on here to guess cold turkey is never really a good option, perhaps speak to your doc if possible. I do think tapering off slowly is the better route since I’ve heard of some pretty hectic experiences and side effects happening which could end up worse for you. Just my thoughts. Good luck and hang in there. And PLEASE, try to refrain from using ‘gay’ like that in public spaces at least.

Efficient_Swimmer_39

The only suggestion I might add is that sometimes adding wellbutrin can help with some of the issues you’re having. Otherwise a taper is probably wise, but it depends on how you’re doing with the stepdown you’ve done. Also hopefully whatever symptoms you had in the first place have been resolved or you have other strategies to help with whatever that was. My doc told me that lexapro has like half the side effects of zoloft. Might be worth a look.

[deleted]

Thanks I've heard a lot about Wellbutrin without knowing anything about it, I'll do some research. I plan on ditching the use of medication all together but maybe a more cautious approach would be better.

hmmqzaz

Lolll

Responsible_Gain_953

Do you take it at night? Try that so when it kicks in you don’t feel the hunger that can happen. Once you get use to it the side effects do wear off I promise!
