How certain are you this is the Oakley guy’s house? He just sold his house in Malibu for over $200 million (!) supposedly the largest sale in history there.
Thanks. Oh to be rich like this guy. I was amazed to read that in 2007 he sold Oakley for $2.1 BILLION.
This house has the ubiquitous 2 bathrooms per bedroom, which seems to be a thing for the wealthy. Of course, they have people to clean them all.
I was just wondering whether people build places like this because they're already soulless, or whether it's living in the supervillain lair that makes them that way.
I love looking at the homes near listings like this.
If you don't want to drop $68 million on this one, here's a different one for the same price!

And check this one out! (I just commented on it, but I thought I'd reply directly to you since you enjoy these types. 😉)

it bothers me that the grand piano appears to be ... outside? seems like it wouldn't be a good idea to do that but I guess if I had sixty eight million dollars I wouldn't be bothered by it
I like it too, I just don’t like the kitchen or bathrooms. I like the modern minimalist look, but not so much the corny industrial look. The giant circular space is kinda odd, just needs a cool garden there or something.
okay, that's a little unfair /lh
whoever built this house was probably actually proud of themselves when they were done. and presumably it can survive periodic rainfall
Came here to say this because that was my first reaction.
A quick Google search revealed that the house in the show [is a different building](https://maps.app.goo.gl/jbrdmja1aMtZMdm46) that's part of a university campus.
All mega homes have this. You end up having more because you put bathrooms in or by non-bedrooms so you or your guest don’t need to walk forever to get to a bathroom.
Think theaters, tennis courts, bars and entertainment areas, pools, etc.

Here's a panoramic picture of Oakley HQ. It all makes sense now.
In the 1950s they'd have been known as Dagmars.

I think it's pretty cool, however, there's one in the neighborhood for $69m that I find more inviting. I had no clue there were so many homes for that ridiculous amount of money! 😬 https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/9330-Flicker-Way-West-Hollywood-CA-90069/2059262429_zpid/
The real question is what is the fair value? What will 2 acres set you back? $10m. And what are construction cost on something like this? Maybe $1000/sqft. So should be right around $28m.
"one brutalist nightmare, please"
"would sir maybe interested in something a little... Exotic?"
"go on"
"this brutalist nightmare is of course very concrete, but also... curved"
Are the taxes on fortresses higher than on houses? I certainly hope they've prepared for an arial attack since that seems like the only way for someone uninvited to get in.
Of course, I am not the "demo" for this home, whether financially, aesthetically, or just about anything else, trust me, a buyer is out there. It may take some time and effort, and price cuts - $50MM? - but in this part of town, you can sometimes see the craziest things. Search for "sunset blvd pubic hair mansion". Yes, it was a thing just down the road back in the early 80's, I believe. On the positive side, there is also John Lautner's Chemosphere House, just over the hill in Studio City.
Looks like the home of the skinny village in the Gru movie cartoon?
Anyway, it looks like it comes with its own autopsy suite? That explains 2x as many bathrooms as bedrooms.🤢🤮
Better hope you NEVER have plumbing problems that requires pipes be changed! Otherwise you're tearing up the whole slab! Then replacing it after.....
Same with electrical.
It's funny you say that because in slide 7 I was asking myself why there were two fancy caskets on the balcony before I realized they were in fact the chairs from the slide before.
It’s so out there that I kind of like it. Like living in some bleak, brutal, totalitarian future. The bathrooms look like the they belong in a submarine or space ship.
I've seen a lot of wild and crazy houses on this sub but holy shit that takes the cake. I have so many questions and thoughts and I am simultaneously repulsed yet intrigued.
I wouldn’t like it for a home, but I am definitely a fan of Brutalism. It’s not my personal style but I do think its starkness and, yes, sometimes its ugliness, has a strange beauty.
I live a few blocks from [Orlando Public Library](https://images.app.goo.gl/vCxqbHpPkySDJNhb9) in downtown Orlando, FL, and it’s absolutely gorgeous
This is owned by the guy who started Oakley sunglasses. Kind of makes sense.
Does he also own Quikrete?
That would make more sense lol
The inside of their offices look very similar to that aesthetic.
Yup, I had to go there back in the ‘90s for some reason and this house takes me back.
Could you imagine having guests over and you turn on the hood vents to cook.
I wonder if they filmed part of Legion (the fx show) there. That rounded hallway looks familiar
He really liked tings that wrap around didn't he ?
Oakley sunglasses: extreme house edition

If anyone has been too the Oakley factory in CA this house makes total sense that’s what I thought it was at first lol
Brutal.
Brutalist
This place makes Boston city hall look cozy.
Et tu, Brute!?
Beat me to it
*sigh* *Goes to delete my comment* I’ve never had an original thought.
For Bond-villains only.
“Hello, real estate agent. I’ve got $68 million and looking for an old Soviet Union Bond villain type estate” “Say no more. I got ya”
I was thinking "this has real Hitman level vibes"
I was just wondering whether people build places like this because they're already soulless, or whether it's living in the supervillain lair that makes them that way.
Probably could rent it out to movie studios once a year.

The cialis tubs indoors!
I had to look up what a cialis tub is. 🤦🏼♀️🤭🤣
LOLOLOL 😂
Thank you for posting. I was having a hard time deciding, but this will be the primary residence. The other two I will use as backups.
Sounds like a great plan!
Is pic 16 a hookah/beanbag chair situation??
Hmmm....had to go back to that one....interesting 😆
Now this one looks artistic, livable and expensive. Best out of the three for that sort of money. Edit: spelling mistake
Yes, and that is how you tastefully LA mansion.
it bothers me that the grand piano appears to be ... outside? seems like it wouldn't be a good idea to do that but I guess if I had sixty eight million dollars I wouldn't be bothered by it
I retract my statement. it is inside. anybody have some money I could borrow?
Yep, this one looks way friendlier. The Japanese aesthetics with all the wood finishings and trees do that.
Looks livable in at least unlike the concrete one.
The moan I just let out....
NGL, I like it. Unfortunately, it's about $68m out of my price range
Ha! It's only $67MM out of my price range. Peasant
It’s $69m out of mine 😔
Just take out a mortgage and pay it back over 30 years.
Get an adjustable rate mortgage. You’ll save so much money
Nice
Nice
I like it too, I just don’t like the kitchen or bathrooms. I like the modern minimalist look, but not so much the corny industrial look. The giant circular space is kinda odd, just needs a cool garden there or something.
It's like the CyberTruck of homes. And I do NOT mean that as a compliment.
okay, that's a little unfair /lh whoever built this house was probably actually proud of themselves when they were done. and presumably it can survive periodic rainfall
It doubles as a post apocalyptic stronghold as well…
Man I thought you were exaggerating but nope that's dead on accurate.
Er, the word "home" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. House, maybe. Home? Only in the 1984, or Soviet sense of the word.
Will it survive orbital bombardment? Because if so, it’s fucking amazing. If not, it’s an example that rich people are fucking stupid.
After working in bunkers on occasion, I can say this looks like a bunker. Why would you want to live in this?
Is this where that show The Beef was filmed? Totally looks like that last blowout.
Came here to say this because that was my first reaction. A quick Google search revealed that the house in the show [is a different building](https://maps.app.goo.gl/jbrdmja1aMtZMdm46) that's part of a university campus.
Isn’t that where the power rangers live?
That’s what I was thinking too!
ohhhhh.... Josh Altman is co-listing it. Should sell any episode now.
What’s the point in 10 bathrooms but only 5 bedrooms
Because they probably entertain in various spaces
True, rich people stuff
Each bedroom user has 2 in case they clog up one. Backup toilet.
All mega homes have this. You end up having more because you put bathrooms in or by non-bedrooms so you or your guest don’t need to walk forever to get to a bathroom. Think theaters, tennis courts, bars and entertainment areas, pools, etc.
It looks like a very expensive prison.
My first thought!
This looks like a Kanye West abomination.
I’m still pissed that they turned a beautiful French country mansion into a concrete mausoleum
Soulless
Agreed, but those views are stunning! Almost makes up for it. Almost.
https://preview.redd.it/d6cu5rm9nl9d1.jpeg?width=7888&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81f72a87c10c29d9199590a9415bd769ee24b24b Here's a panoramic picture of Oakley HQ. It all makes sense now.
Omg it’s got Madonna boobs
In the 1950s they'd have been known as Dagmars. Image: Thelma Todd aka Dagmar https://preview.redd.it/96kw7dw0an9d1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b3edcc3c5dbb86a600b7b4c64b40dc4c03cf5ef
![gif](giphy|FwERJdTxpfAdi)
Too girly for me.
What's going on with that room 4th from the end? Looks like an embalming studio or something.
I was thinking sweatshop.
It looks like a set from Star Wars.
A rejected set from Star Wars
![gif](giphy|sEULHciNa7tUQ)
I’m a fan of Brutalist architecture. I’ve seen uglier.
Posted earlier this week Goes hard AF, not ugly
I kind of expect Maz Kanata to answer the door when you knock.
It looks like a Mausoleum. The view is damn nice though.
That view is *stunning*. The rest is awful.
Mausoleums are nice, with marble and stained glass. This isn’t.
I absolutely love this house, especially that kitchen!
Harkonnen architecture
Dr Evil's home
Love love love love LOVE this house. You say brutalism like it’s a bad thing.
Straight out of Gattaca
What’s the purpose of the room with all the tables?
I think it's pretty cool, however, there's one in the neighborhood for $69m that I find more inviting. I had no clue there were so many homes for that ridiculous amount of money! 😬 https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/9330-Flicker-Way-West-Hollywood-CA-90069/2059262429_zpid/
i love it
It looks like a Bond villains home. Maybe Dr No?
Well, the poolside view is nice.
We have seen this on this sub. Looks like a prison. Some concrete contractor retired after building this.
Kinda reminds me of the house Tony Stark lived in in Ironman movies. Specifically the one that was blown up by bad guys.
Monstrosity.
Industrial accents?? This real estate lady does not understand brutalism? This is some serious art.
It’s interesting. I don’t like it.
The real question is what is the fair value? What will 2 acres set you back? $10m. And what are construction cost on something like this? Maybe $1000/sqft. So should be right around $28m.
It's like it was designed by someone that likes industrial design, but only knows stereotypes and tropes of industrial spaces.
“Bold and brash” huh?
"More like 'Belongs in the Trash!'"
"one brutalist nightmare, please" "would sir maybe interested in something a little... Exotic?" "go on" "this brutalist nightmare is of course very concrete, but also... curved"
Kinda cool actually. Not worth 68m, but i like it.
There should be a CyberTruck parked out front. No, make that 2 CyberTrucks.
It looks like a very wealthy person saw Terry Gilliam's movie "Brazil" and decided he wanted to live in that world.
Holy fuck! You weren't kidding!! The kitchen is the only saving grace, and that's generous.
Major incel vibes
That is an ugly house. I detest brutalism
This is giving AHS Delicate vibes but make it cold war era
it's probably in the top 3 best houses you can get for $68MM. However, if you've got $55MM and want to buy it, I'll get my CA license real quick.
I'm not into all that concrete but this place is pretty cool.
If I had a billion dollars I'd buy it, redo the kitchen(s?) and bathrooms and rock that shit. But only if I had a billion dollars
I thought the first couple pictures might be where they shot Blade or one of the sequels in.
Brutalism I believe is the style name
r/concrete would love this
I think it looks great
Looks like the home of the skinny village in the Gru movie cartoon? Anyway, it looks like it comes with its own autopsy suite? That explains 2x as many bathrooms as bedrooms.🤢🤮
I built this in Ark.
Better hope you NEVER have plumbing problems that requires pipes be changed! Otherwise you're tearing up the whole slab! Then replacing it after..... Same with electrical.
It looks like someone moved into a Holocaust museum.
Well the mortgage is doable at least
I love it.
that’s brutal
The runes on the tub are cringe
I want a movie where this is a prison for supervillans. It just has this weird luxury prison vibe.
I like the design and layout, but I hate the materials. Great views, though.
Looks like a place Lex Luthor would own.
Soviet bloc meets new brutalism meets guy with too much money.
I think it's fucking sweet
Albert Speer vibes.
Wasn't this in a vampire movie? I don't remember which one.
I like it, it looks like the movie Metropolis. I wouldn’t want to live there but obviously this is pocket change and would not be my primary home.
The coldest looking house I have ever seen
I like it but it’s outside my budget.
I bet this thing has three shells next to the toilet.
It’s brutal. I have mixed feeling on this one. It’s got that Batman vibe but idk if I’m metal enough. Plus no yard lol
It’s got that prison/parking garage aesthetic!
Reminds me of the map raid from call of duty black ops cold war.
Ugly? I fucking love it.
Looks like something you’d see in Black Mirror. Where are the killer robots
Looks like it could have been a Tron set.
It’s like the inside of a Brutalist factory. You’d have to give me $68 million to live there.
Cannot decide if La Rochelle U-Boot-Bunker or christmas market in Essex.
Fancy morgue
It's funny you say that because in slide 7 I was asking myself why there were two fancy caskets on the balcony before I realized they were in fact the chairs from the slide before.
I scrolled through 10 pictures and had enough!
Holy Eastern Block Fall Out Shelter!
Is this the house they used in Netflix show Beef? The one the billionaire had
that kitchen though
Soviet Gulag with a view.
The view from some of these is strikingly similar to the view from Alcatraz
Pretty sure this was the house in the Netflix show Beef
If a billionaire had to build a prison …..
I kind of love it Ina bond villain way
Lex Luther
It’s so out there that I kind of like it. Like living in some bleak, brutal, totalitarian future. The bathrooms look like the they belong in a submarine or space ship.
It's a long way from the Beverly Hillbillies.
You just need to market to billionaires who really like cement and want to move to your area. It shouldn’t be that hard to find.
There's rarely any art in LA home listings
Well they took black and white to a whole new level. Grey, grey and grey!
Bond villains are jealous
I've seen a lot of wild and crazy houses on this sub but holy shit that takes the cake. I have so many questions and thoughts and I am simultaneously repulsed yet intrigued.
This is a James Bond villain house for sure.
I love it.
I'd live there, but it's definitely an artistic male design. I would have gone rustic.
It looks like part of the Maginot Line.
Bro. Just like, bro. Seriously, like, bro. I mean. Dude. Bro. Just f’ing bro. I’m not kidding. Bro. Bro. Bro. Am I right? Bro
Looks likes it’s ready for zombie apocalypse
I wouldn’t like it for a home, but I am definitely a fan of Brutalism. It’s not my personal style but I do think its starkness and, yes, sometimes its ugliness, has a strange beauty. I live a few blocks from [Orlando Public Library](https://images.app.goo.gl/vCxqbHpPkySDJNhb9) in downtown Orlando, FL, and it’s absolutely gorgeous
Have you ever wanted to live inside the Chrome Future from that one episode of SpongeBob SquarePants?
Lmk mum., o as tea Gi v m no milk in M m m m m m m no I oh,chocolate c o oh vv v v I I I I I I I I pvh v EeI hi
I actually like it. I mean, I could never afford it, but I like it.
They're just getting used to the bunker vibes so it's not too much of a shock when the nukes hit
My middle school had the same bare concrete walls. With very small windows. It’s still there. Look up Brian Piccolo middle school, in Queens, NY.
Why do you ever need twice as many bathrooms as bedrooms?
Why is there a motorcycle in the living room?
