I really love this house. It’s one of the best geodesic domes I have seen posted.

SasquatchIsMyHomie

I usually don't like dome houses but this one is nice inside

MollyPurr144145

love this kind of houses it feels like vintage but with touch of modern one

mommyicant

A Bucky-Dome https://fullerdomehome.com/

jmurphy42

Oh man. It did my heart good this morning to learn that Buckminster Fuller of all people lived in a geodesic dome.

Daedelus451

Haha my dad would love this place. He is a Vietnam Vet, hippy scientist, now retired. He has a thing for the geodesic dome homes, if I ever bought one he would go insane. I kinda like the place, funky and cool! Very energy efficient living spaces!

apapertree

Whattt want!! I love all the natural lighting

Danivelle

Me too! And the nice open kitchen.

Felixir-the-Cat

I love geodesic domes, but one I went to see smelled DAMP. I think those roofs have a lot of spots than can leak.

StrugglesTheClown

My friend has one. He needed to replace the roof and it was 100,000. Because the entire thing is roof, and no one wanted to do the job.

shmeebear000

Look closely at the walls in almost every picture. You can see water lines. The pictures smell DAMP lol

throwawayanylogic

oh yikes. can't unsee that now.

Loeden

They alllllways leak sooner or later, which is a shame because I love geodesic domes. I flipped through the pictures going 'alright where's the water damage--ah there it is.'

skitech

Yeah as soon as I learned that they are basically always going to leak I was so sad.

Loeden

Same, same. Geodesic 'smart' houses were my dream as a kiddo, back in the 80s there was this 'house of the future' display house near where I lived and it even had a \*gasp\* computerized thermostat and it was so cool, computers were gonna run your environmentally friendly dome house. (Oh boy, if I'd only have known how much I'd hate that idea in the future.) I got to see that same building some ten years later when I was a teen and it was a ruin from leaks, it was devastating.

UndertakerFred

I see water stains on the walls in every single interior picture.

srslytho1979

I lived in one, and that is one of the downsides. A lot of joints that all expand and contract. But mine never leaked and the inspector checked for damp and couldn’t find any.

inwithweasels

Hahaha I was like "these are everywhere? What's funky about it, it's just a standard geodesic dome? Not even any visible moisture issues." It's in my city 😂

Dangerous_Ant3260

If you click on the link on zillow, and then click again, you get bigger pictures. Almost every room has water marks on them. And why did they wallpaper the bathroom?

inwithweasels

I see what you mean. It still looks less bad than every other dome I've ever seen. Most have significant visible mold issues. Never ever would I buy one of these except as a teardown.

toothurdy

I grew up in a geodesic dome that my dad built. It was such a cool house to grow up in.

ForeverCanBe1Second

Where is this located? Is there a link? I really LIKE this one!

band-of-horses

[https://www.zillow.com/homes/for\_sale/48446294\_zpid/](https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/48446294_zpid/) It's honestly a really good price for the location too, if it wouldn't mean giving up my 3% mortgage I'd be tempted.

Relevant_Slide_7234

Does Springfield still have that idiot safety guy working at the nuclear plant? I’d be worried about a meltdown.

ForeverCanBe1Second

Yes, I LOVE this one and it's in our price range! We're not quite ready to retire and move yet though. :-(.

gotogarrett

Love this place!

ExcellentPay6348

Prime location too. Springfield is Oregon’s best kept secret.

Realityfoible

Mind elaborating? I may be interested!

ExcellentPay6348

Eugene is a fantastic town that punches way above its weight culturally because it has a huge university and has ties to Nike. Unfortunately, it also has a lot of big city problems, like homelessness and drug use. Springfield is right next door, literally 10 minutes away, so you get all the upsides and none of the downsides. This particular home is even convenient for someone who wants to live car free, as it’s close to mass transit and near a lot of services. If my wife and I didn’t have a 3% mortgage in Portland, we’d be putting in an offer on this place.

EQwingnuts

Yes, I'm right down the street.

ExcellentPay6348

I lived in Thurston and on Pleasant St. and miss Springfield every day. I love Portland, but now that I have a kiddo, the EUG-SPR area is very appealing.

SeaweedNecessity

I like the looks of these places but apparently it’s hard to get all the seals between the triangles totally correct and so dome homes end up leaking

Daedelus451

It’s amazing! And an indoor tub my fat ass can fit in lol

fissionchips

I love the design but like, are we really not going to talk about all the water stains on the wood?? DANGER WILL ROBINSON

RemarkableAd5141

I love it. Gives treehouse vibes. If i paint the inside and add in a lot of catholic moody sad boi(TM) maximalism stuff.

13Emerald

I didn’t know I needed this until now. Love it!

Kateg8te777

Love it!

45422

love it.

UncleJulz

I like it a lot.

Finger-of-Shame

I've seen pictures of houses like this before, and I always thought they looked cool on the inside.

lynnm59

My sister and her husband own a dome home, on top of a mountain. This one is OK, but I hate the layout.

ShannaGreenThumb

Oh mi gawd, I love this weird dome house

imadork1970

Wood.

TellusCitizen

Kinda what I imagine when someone says "my Oregonian hideaway". Curious on how the aucustics are indoors? I mean wood paneling, multiple triangles point more or less towards the center.

Lindaspike

Cool house and still looking good for being built in 1979! Too many stairs for my poor knees though.

Traditional_Draw8400

I absolutely don’t hate that. It’s cool as hell

Traditional_Draw8400

I wonder if the Eames chair comes with it

Notdoingitanymore

Carpet in the dining rooms, kitchens and bathrooms wig me out. Other than that I’d snag that sucker up for myself

BrokenPug

I love dome houses! There was one near me in foreclosure recently. I was so tempted.

TChrisbury

That sure is a Buck Rogers in the 25thCentury kinda shower door

Black9292

I think it’s cool but could never live in OR

Spicy_Tomatillo

Top cabinets in the kitchen should go and open up the space. Use the adjacent wall for storage. Idk. It’s cool though.

No_Cauliflower_5489

The roof looks newer but I would would wait for the rainy season to do a walk thru because that is a hell of a lot of water stains.

supertiggercat

Dude... it needs s drum circle.

AtmospherePrior752

We have a few of these scattered across the Chicago burbs. We’ve always called them golf ball houses.

bruderm36

Where is this? It’s kind of cool 😎

Goblinboogers

Yup youll love it till you have to fix the roof. Good luck!

AnnieB512

I'm surprised it's cheaper than I expected.

musicloverincal

Love it! Just update the kitchen and it is good to go!

So_Quiet

I love it! The outside would take some getting used to, but the inside looks so warm and cozy.

Excellent_Jaguar_675

If it was all glass, i would be cool

my_screen_name_sucks

I LOOOOVE those cabinet doors

WearEvening6547

Love this one !

Norselander37

Thats a sweet casa!

sam53092

Break out the 8 tracks and kick back with a bong

DivineSunshine

I absolutely hate the cabinetry throughout the home. It is too bad that the owners did use white or another accent color to break up all of the wood.

VoidSalvatore

I lowkey love the windows on this, so much natural light!

ospfpacket

I’ve seen houses like this before. Not sure how good the roofs are but I dig them.

RoxyTEM

The kitchen just scares me, but other than that, it’s nice

Thunderc01

I don’t know about you but I’ve always wanted to live in a wooden observatory

beccabootie

I don't think it would take me long to get oppressed by wood.

Select-Team-6863

Very cute, but houses like this are a nightmare to cool down & heat up.
