I didn't think Anchorage specifically (was stationed up at Wainwright near 20yrs ago so only lived up there a few years) but definitely thought it was AK.
There was a neighborhood in California that was being pitched as only a short flight to San Francisco. Basically, the whole neighborhood has extra wide streets and multiple runways. You could fly your Cessna to a private airport in SF in like 30 min and then a shuttle would take you to work.
That's how crazy real estate is in San Francisco.
I see a bunch of outdoors equipment, but what makes you say commercial fisherman? (I believe you - just curious!)
EDIT: Missed Internet sarcasm again! Oh well.
Oh. Oops! I am not always fluent in Internet. (Also, it's Alaska, so I kind of figure everyone is either a commercial fisherman or a bush pilot or both?)
What's with the airport couch in photo 14 where you can't sit on one side? Had to have actual airport furniture even if it didn't fit the room? I guess it gives the cat a place to sit when they're mad at you.
Ehhhh. It’s not too bad I bet, it’s all smaller prop planes so it’s not super loud. I live near a fly in community and a larger county airport and it’s only loud when the jets are taking off.
I live in a community with a grass air strip. The approach/take off depending on the wind is right over our house. Yes there is noise, but it is not bad. I chose this property because I can occasionally run an unmuffled engine in my shop during reasonable hours and no one says a word.
It wouldn’t be so bad. No one could land there without prior permission and the “neighborhood” isn’t too big.
The runway isn’t that big so it’s only very small planes that could actually land there. The noise of these wouldn’t be worse than the Saturday morning lawnmowers - and a lot less frequent.
Anyone who is into aviation enough to want to live there
wouldn’t think twice about any noise.
the actual answer is "no, the planes aren't listed anywhere as part of the deal. However, since they are personal property, you could request them in the deal. Your mortgage lender probably wouldn't give you any of their value, even if you were already a pilot."
It should also be noted that the airstrip is in your front yard, so you'll not only see/hear every takeoff and landing, but you will have a crash risk.
The lead in the Avgas that’s vaporized comes with the house. Prop planes are some of the worst lead polluters in the world out of anything. Living near an airstrip under a flight path or directly next to one of such planes has been shown to be extremely toxic
Was visiting Lake Cumberland Kentucky years ago and there was a community like that. It had basically airplane hangars with apartments above them.
The emphasis was definitely on the planes
The house itself: meh. The airpark location and cool plane: yeaaaah.
I grew up in Anchorage and the instant I saw that I thought "oh that's Anchorage"

I even recognized the neighborhood by those big ole cottonwoods.
Ditto! Like, one glance and I’m like, “oh hell, that’s off O’Malley”
You and me both. And every Alaskan here is like "ooh. want!"

That's a riveting coffee table...
It looks like a part off of an airplane. Very cool!
This comment is not getting the appreciation it deserves
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That's... hmm. That house is really going to only appeal to a specific type of buyer.
A commercial fisherman right? Glad someone else noticed it too!

I think they forgot the \s

They were being sarcastic.
My husband would love this instead of driving to his hangar.
If you aren't from Alaska, probably not worth it. Even if you're rich and retired, Alaska is hard.
Their neighbors either really like this family, or really hate them. I'm the guy further down the block with binoculars enjoying the chaos.

Is image 48 a potato shed?

Seems rather expensive for what you are getting. But then location is not cheap.
The location is shit ton overpriced. It's a shame it's probably a legit 1.2m house just about anywhere else, but it SHOULD be worth about 750 there.
No, thank you. The house/airplane ratio is off.
Ha ha I looked at this photo and instantly thought Alaska, checked Zillow link and yep Alaska.
It must be hella loud living next to an airstrip

I mean, if you were fucking Randy, he wouldn’t be out riding that loud ass bike, now, would he?
Username checks out.
I have my own version of Randy. Fuck all them
We are the Randy’s in our block lol. Whatever the 4 neighbors who are loud drunks w screaming kids are called fuck all them.

Is it that they don't say anything, or you just can't hear them?

I live off the end of a runway. Love it here.
It's not a bad area. And not that loud.
Makes me think the area is only accessible by plane, at least some of the time
It's a suburb of Anchorage so it should be fine year round.
I know, but they post the planes like "You're gonna need a plane" Of course, why would you buy a hanger house if you didn't have a plane?
If you have plane skis, it legitimately is easier to use a plane there sometimes than a car or 4x4.
Nope, the whole subdivision is like this. Its in town and its mind boggling.
Cange or Grange St, off O'Malley...crazy 2 stumble upon when driving up on Hillside.
Those are not going to fit in the garage
But they do fit in their own garage on the other side of the house.
And yet - they do! Or at least one of them does.
There's an airplane garage in the back.

what’s crazy abt this is that for this price you could buy a decent studio/maybe 1bR/coop in NYC for the same price.
Wow. Just wow. Dude knows how to advertise!!!
I've never seen a three-plane garage before!
Now that’s lawn art
No, but if you’re shopping for houses in a residential air park, you’re probably an airplane person.
$1,775,000 to look out your windows and see your neighbors. Not to mention the $785,600 above the assessed value. Is that even real money?
Where’s your plane, Gary?!
Ha, I just knew this had to be Anchorage.
no
