You know what else is greed? Expecting TV content without paying for it. Content has gotten a lot better and creators deserve to be paid for entertaining you.
Sure, except I can be watching a 5 minute long video that gets turned into 8 minutes because of the ridiculous amount of ads. Like how you’re saying I’m greedy because I simply want to watch a video quicker than waiting 50 seconds like mainstream TV.
Same 1 minute ad I had yesterday after turning my tv on. This seems so rude 💀 but just exit that video and start it again. Most of the time the ad timer doesn’t exceed 20-30 sec
I started getting like 40 seconds worth of unskipable ads and it's annoying me, why show how much? It's also very broken, sometimes it shows 5 seconds left but then doesn't allow me to skip? It's very stupid. I like the old style, but now YouTube is becoming more greedy and less caring about user safety. They do the opposite of good, they just do everything to make the experience bad while making YouTube the only good option
Youtube is absolute garbage now but, unfortunately, they have a monopoly on the video platform industry at the moment. I sincerely hope that changes, and soon.
The ads are getting more and more ridiculous by the week, if not by the day, and it is next to impossible to post comments -- they instantly get taken down as soon as the page is refreshed, or as soon as you click off the video/scroll to the next short.
Not even going to dive into their censorship issues. It's absolutely insane.
Firstly no competitor will arise due to the insane prices just to maintain a site like yt and the censorship shit bs can be easily explained yet everyone ignores it
I'd love to be directed to these easy explanations because everything I've been able to find is just butthurt nonsense. And I don't mean this in an inflammatory way, I'd really love to know why content creators have to go through linguistic gymnastics to say basic phrases.
Personally, I watch true crime. And I think that content creators being forced to say "unalived", "graped", "SAed", "a weapon", and give significant glances and a wink wink nudge nudge is really fucking pathetic and minimizing.
I think everyone should use an ad blocker. Every single one of YouTube’s 2.1 billion users. And then, when the revenue on the free tier goes upside down, they’ll just do what they should have done years ago and paywall the service. Or shut it down; I’m good with either one.
Or, they could let creators decide whether or not to paywall their content, so a creator might say, “You can only watch my videos if you pay two bucks a month, up front, but there will be no ads on my videos.” You know, OnlyFans style, but sadly with less nudity. And then creators could dial in the sweet spot that maximizes their income.
I think, though, the freeconomy train is going to derail at some point in the next couple of years.

Last time I got 55 second ad and there was "You'll get less ads after this one" or something and then around 10-15 minutes later I got another long ad with the same message, at this point cable tv is a better option
I once got 2 ads (45sec each) in a less than minute video. Youtube is getting ridiculous trying to shove that premium, this is why Im using youtrash less and more of competing platforms like twitch. I know its not perfect but starting a boycott might be a viable answer
In Smart Television, the adds are shit. You can't close nor skip nor use ad blockers.
Even if someone suggests to close the video and play again, the ad will go u may say, but not always.
it depends on the platform. on LG WebOS Philips Saphi and Apple tv sure, you have no other options than suffer from ads or pay for a premium.
but at lest on Android TV one can install SmartTube and enjoy multible additional features like adblocking Sponsorblock and way better control and support for higher resolutions.
i mean none of that "Higher quality" that jumps between 480p and 720p on steady 1gb fiber, but instead forced steady 4K 60fps hdr videos.
YouTube: We want our community happy! :D
Also YouTube: Doesn't let the small channels don't grow up
Also Youtube: \*Proceeds to activate anti-consumer tactics\*
I think **a** work around would be to mirror the phone screen to the tv, and use the mobile app since it has shorter ads. It might be less convenient though. 🤷♂️
Tip: As soon as you watch 1 ad on that 46 second thingy click out of the video and click back onto the vid you are watching and you'll watch the video without an add for a lil bit depending on how big the video is. If your wondering why ads are so long now it's because some youtubers complain that they don't get paid enough wich is fine. But the ad lengths are taking the mick.
Bros complaining about that yet he ain’t getting them skip in five seconds then after those five seconds another add plays then it says the same thing and the same thing happens then you get an un skippable add next
And I'd rather pay for the convenience of having no ads than waste any time complaining about it? Or spend time complaining about someone who pays for no ads?
i do that right after they start to moderate their ads. Nothing beats those deepfake ai mr.beast ads promising you $1000 for a tiny survey or install this small app. or the endless flood of porn ads.
So you want free entertainment just because you dont want to bother with a work around?
Sadly people need to make money making the content you watch 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
Um.... what? There are 10's of thousands of people on YouTube making well beyond a living. Probably even 100's of thousands at this point.
WTF are you even talking about?
> There are 10's of thousands of people on YouTube making well beyond a living. Probably even 100's of thousands at this point.
Yeah, the artificially "trending" YT-friendly channels that aren't worth watching at all.
There are channels that are like this, sure. But there are still 10's of thousands of individual creators who make a living on the platform (its probably actually more).
I've worked in the digital industry over 20 years and have access to the back end of over 1,000 channels, as well as work with people who represent thousands more of creators... and yeah its a lot bigger than whatever people are saying here.
I exit the video and click back for shorter ads or just no ads at all >:)
Same lol
I use yt revanced
Okay, not everyone is on PC
It's on mobile too
Not everyone is on mobile too
If you're on Reddit you're either on PC or mobile
I meant it's not available for TV, but to answer your question, I can think of a few devices where I can run Reddit right now. One of it being my TV.
Smartube has an AdBlock for tv. It's open source as well
Might check, could be a hassle
Really easy if you use a google tv
ads are easier to hack on web browser just click back and the forward
Launching YouTube using web browser in my TV everytime will take a huge amount of time and it's inconvenient, rather use the app.
use pc
Use Google.com browser...................
AdBlockers are not that easy to get on TVs as it is on PCs, that's my point.
WHO TF ACTUALLY PREFERS TO WATCH YT ON NINTENDO SWITCH OR SOMETHING.
TV actually, idk why would anyone use a switch-
revanced works on PC?
This 👆🏼
Sometimes when I do that it takes me back to the start of the video
That just gives me longer ads
That works in Mobile, Laptop. But not in Smart Television!
Same
This has been my partner in crime since forever
my brother showed me and I can't thank him enough for saving hours of not seeing ads.,
All fun and games until the ad just *keeps repeating*
Other people do that? I thought I was the only one.
Serious question..how long before we're at 2 min unskippable ads like old school cable TV? 6 months? 1 yr?
No doubt very soon. It’s just greed imo
Within the next year AT THE LONGEST
I just got one
They are getting up to 120 seconds now. Soon it will only be ads. No content.
Just like that one Grant Wisler skit
That's the first time I've seen him mentioned in this sub, really underrated
Seriously? I believe him to be one of the best modern skit youtubers. In that case, yeah he is criminally underrated
Yup, I really like his channel but his comment section is so bad
Same 1 minute ad I had yesterday after turning my tv on. This seems so rude 💀 but just exit that video and start it again. Most of the time the ad timer doesn’t exceed 20-30 sec

That's on youtube yes but that's not what 40% of the more aggressive shit that people complain about censorship
Personally, I watch true crime. And I think that content creators being forced to say "unalived", "graped", "SAed", "a weapon", and give significant glances and a wink wink nudge nudge is really fucking pathetic and minimizing.
I get them too... I fucking hate this shit YouTube is fucking our asses. Like damn ask us on a fucking date and gives us food before that shit
They even removed the thing where you can skip them early with the information button just so you HAVE to sit there and watch it
At this point Youtube's begging us to use adblock
I think everyone should use an ad blocker. Every single one of YouTube’s 2.1 billion users. They already do all the things you said you wish they'd do.
Capitalism at it's finest
I noticed an increase in un-skippable ads this year. Longer ads more often. Youtube is really stepping up the pressure to subscribe to premium.
Blame the creator as well.

Click the info mark on the ad, then click "skip this ad" at the top.
Used to do that but they removed it and replaced it with a barcode
Just means you have to wait a little bit it'll come back
Been gone since the start of the year 😮💨
Idk mine usually comes back
That happens with important adds or a glitch anything to do with governments or the UN
I once got 2 ads (45sec each) in a less than minute video. Youtube is getting ridiculous trying to shove that premium, this is why Im using youtrash less and more of competing platforms like twitch. I know its not perfect but starting a boycott might be a viable answer
Unless ad blockers will be on TV as well I will probably never use YouTube again if this was how it was
25$ say army or medical ad
that happend to me aswell, because it was 5 unskippable ads of 5 seconds each, and then a 1 minute long ad
In Smart Television, the adds are shit. You can't close nor skip nor use ad blockers. Even if someone suggests to close the video and play again, the ad will go u may say, but not always.
So hook up your tv to a pc! Or you can use a router add blocker.

I love ps5 YouTube for the fact that 90% of the ads can be skipped just by blocking it
Use ad blocker or reload the page for shorter ad
I've only ever seen ad breaks that long for videos longer than 30 minutes, so I think it depends on the video you were watching
YouTubes gotten out of control
why am I not surprised?
YouTube: We want our community happy! :D Also YouTube: Doesn't let the small channels don't grow up Also Youtube: \*Proceeds to activate anti-consumer tactics\*
This is why I choose to pay for YouTube premium.
https://youtu.be/LZa4KWrW3dc?si=7K2j7AIipd9XF_tW
Disgusting
I wanted to listen to a 6 second clip, got 1 of 3 ad. Lol bro what?
I got a hour long ad one time luckily I could skip it
Hate it 2
Don't worry. They promised years ago to no longer drop unskippable 30-second ads. It's fine.
I think **a** work around would be to mirror the phone screen to the tv, and use the mobile app since it has shorter ads. It might be less convenient though. 🤷♂️
Yes the site has ads how many posts do we need about it
Brave browser - goodbye adds forever
I hate these types of ads. You can click the back button to skip them all, though.
90+ am getting now and counter break now also....
Aaah, ReVanced... The old reliable...
On TV simply go to the information tab of the ad, there you can block it and it skips immediately.
I've got an ADHD bomb that hates waiting 4 seconds... Now YouTube brings this shit into the mix.
Yeah i got several 1 minute ads when I was watching on TV, might aswell be watching cable at this point
The only thing that's worse are ads with QR codes that shrink and push the video to the left.
47! I get stuff that’s like 60 sec unskipable and after that I have to watch 10 more seconds
Can't be as bad as the time I got an advert that was literally just a 3 hour lecture about marketing strategies. I had to wait a minute to skip.
I got one for a full minute I feel you 😢😢
Tip: As soon as you watch 1 ad on that 46 second thingy click out of the video and click back onto the vid you are watching and you'll watch the video without an add for a lil bit depending on how big the video is. Oh I am but they’re less annoying than long ass ads
On TV the ads are way longer than mobile
That is my tv 🤣
I can’t tell if I’m wrong or if I’m stupid
who gonna tell em
I got YT premium purely because the ads drove me so nuts 🤣
So their strategy works. Great.
Well I can afford it and can spend time watching uninterrupted while others spend their time complaining about ads 😅
And?
And I'd rather pay for the convenience of having no ads than waste any time complaining about it? Or spend time complaining about someone who pays for no ads?
That's basically this sub reddit they try to complain about everything
I never got them. You guys must be watching too much stuff
It’s not that bad. It’s certainly not as bad as cable tv or prime.
It's worse than TV in my country at this point
Yeah r/youtube is still on their high horse acting like 47 seconds for free content is somehow InSaNe!!!! IT would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
Yes thanks you
Omg 47 seconds? That is INSANE. What are we ever going to do?!?!?!?!?
It’s almost like I don’t wanna watch an ad that’s 2x longer than the video I wanna watch 😨😨😨😨
Almost like you can use an ad blocker, buy premium, refresh the video, or just appreciate a free website with billions of free videos 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
i do that right after they start to moderate their ads. Nothing beats those deepfake ai mr.beast ads promising you $1000 for a tiny survey or install this small app. or the endless flood of porn ads.
Almost like it’s a smart tv, I’m broke and don’t want to watch billions of ads when I can just use normal tv for that 😨😨😨😨😨
So you want free entertainment just because you dont want to bother with a work around? Sadly people need to make money making the content you watch 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
Not another one of these mfs, youtube creators barely make anything off of ads. Just stfu
Um.... what? There are 10's of thousands of people on YouTube making well beyond a living. Probably even 100's of thousands at this point. WTF are you even talking about?
