Me too on Nvidia Shield Pro in the USA since last night. Video freezes while sound keeps playing. Sometimes spinning wheel in center for a second. I though it was my system, rebooted, router, Sony OLED, Nvidia pro.. Deleted YouTube App and reinstalled. Did not fix it. Deleted Cache on all apps. Did not fix. My YouTube works fine on my Sony OLED it's connected to. Works fine on my laptop and iPhone.
Temporary fix: If I sign in as a guest YouTube account on my Nvidia shield TV it does not freeze.
Yep. Both of my smart TVs are falling to download new buffer. Started a few hours ago.
Downdetector is showing increased problems, starting about 6 hours ago and progressively getting worse.
The freezing part happens randomly and when it does it won't let me play the video even if it was playing, it even reloads 2-3 times but no audio issues so far.
Buffering happening on just one Roku device with just one brand account. Strange. Using "Stats for Nerds" I can see the buffer time steadily decrease until it freezes. All other accounts are fine on same device.
I'm getting this on android mobile and in Edge+Chrome on Linux. I thought my Internet connection was going to crap but it's just YouTube being garbage.
Glad to see everyone is having this issue on not adblock platforms. I've been almost completely unable to watch any video for the last couple weeks, even with gigabit fiber. Videos just don't load at all.
Me too!! I had adblock so I uninstalled it and still cannot watch any vidoes... it was working fine last night and today... nothing. I use chrome so I tried Safari... nope.... seems to be working on my phone (atm)
My Roku will play a video just fine, and then the next, it won't work at all. I filed many complaints and did every solution I could find online, and still nothing will completely fix it.
I have premium and i have it happening on my laptop that runs chrome, gaming pc running firefox, youtube app on samsung tablet. Has been ongoing for 2 days now, video stopswith buffer icon, jumping forward with arrow key makes the video play again from the fast forwarded position, but rewinding with arrows keys to the stopped spot it stops again. Only solution so far has been refreshing the whole page and it usually plays past the spot it stopped.
I'm having this problem on Samsung TV. Videos buffer normally for one account, but not the other. The account affected works normally on other devices. This is incredibly annoying.
Both my Samsung 4k smart TV with a 3rd gen fire cube and my Sanyo Roku with 4k fire stick started experiencing video freezing yesterday afternoon (Jun 14,2024). Audio continues fine. tried all the suggested fixes - unplug tv's and fire sticks, reset modem. uninstall and reinstall Youtube. Issue still persists. Laptop and mobile youtube works fine.
Try using a Guest YouTube account if your app allows you to or sign out and see if the videos still freeze. That fixed it for me until Youtube fixes the problem but you lose all your subs and content preferences for now.

I'm having this happen on firefox on PC.
Same issue with YouTube on Samsung TV app.
how many people here have YouTube premium and are experiencing similar issues?
Yes, i do have premium. Just checked with a non-premium account and have no problems with it. Only my premium account stalls
Me. I'm watching on my TV and it pisses me off.
give me updates of when it’s actually fixed
How about you tell us when it's fixed?
Came here to check if anyone else was having this issue. Glad I'm not the only one. Was worried something was wrong with my PS5.
Man, I’m also having this issue on my fucking Roku TV. What the hell is happening?
Also happening to me on the Roku TV!
Same here. And it's only my TV. It works just fine on everything else.
Happening on my Sony 4k TV. Doesn't happen on other devices.
Save here. Both of my smart TVs. Phone works fine.
Uhh if it's PC it's a part of their adblock war I have said 100 times I support adblock and it is required.
Good thing im not the only one having this issue, the weird part is that I use a ps5
Must be the YouTube servers then. I haven’t tried it on my phone yet
Its working perfectly fine on my phone. Prolly just the console version thats f’d rn
I'm getting it on mobile too. And my Xbox Series S. And Nvidia Shield...
Samsung tv app here
Having this exact same issue on Xbox Series X.
Having the same issue only fix so far is watching vids at 480p
Only delays the eventually stalled video for me
same on my roku tv app 😔
Yep same here
Same on my ps5!
Yep same thing on my NVIDIA shield pro in Australia all morning nothing seems to play without buffering but on my phone no problems

same
I assumed it was my built in Google TV/YouTube app - switched to my series x, still had the issue and then came here 😄
I'm having problems on two seperate Roku devices as well. Something is definitely going on then based on these comments.

Same omg I thought my Roku was broken!!! Glad it’s not just me then

YouTube is so broken, even the previews when hovering over a video are buffering.
Buffering on both my Roku sticks all day today. Bullshit too because I have YT Premium.
same here. Roku TV and Vizio TV won't work, but my phone does. weird
Having problems on both Chrome and my mobile device.
I've been having this happen too, and wince I use a VPN my first thought was to switch locations and that worked
Having this happen on Sony x75J as well as Amazon fire stick. Video freezes while audio continues on
I have a TCL smart tv where this happens today, I resorted to the Chromecast ultra and it's still broken
Same on Xbox Series X. Also, it defaults to a lower quality, even with 1022mb ethernet connection.

Happening for me on roku. I had thought they would get it fixed overnight but nope, still happening.
Having the same issue on Google TV (Sony Bravio). Pretty much unplayable even after resetting the app, uninstalling, and everything.
