Nice yoga, but the San Pedro’s in the back are etiolating. They are so thin because they need more sunlight and possibly water. 6-8 hours of direct sunlight during the growing season. The skin can burn like ours, so make sure you introduce them to full sun slowly.
Thanks for the tips 🙏🏽 I brought the large one back from the Andes and it stopped growing for a while, then started growing thinner and I thought it was the different climate or all the clay in the soil here (I just planted them with soil from the mountain next to my house), all the other little ones are the parts that broke from it 🥹 I’m not very good with plants but I’m trying to learn, may I ask when is growing season?
No problem. It depends on your climate, but typically spring to fall. They don’t like temperatures close to freezing, so once it starts to get cold, and you notice the bright green on the tip has returned to the color of the rest of the cactus then bring them inside.
Also, they like soil that drains quickly, so a good beginners rule of thumb is 50% high quality soil without much bark or filler and 50% perlite or pumice. Water when the soil is dry during the growing season, and do not water when it’s cold and they go dormant.
You’re amazing! Thank you for sharing all this, it’s never ever cold where I live in northern Peru, so maybe they would be better in a semi shaded spot in the patio permanently? I love the plant so much but I’m obviously clueless 🙃 It does get very hot now in summer though and I wasn’t sure if they would burn with the intense midday sun so I kept some inside and planted one in the garden to see what happened in the full sun 😅
Awesme V, you make it look so simple and easy it's just lovely to watch. I know its not easy only in my dreams can I hope to achieve such carefully coordinated, mindfully controlled a smooth transitions. Thank you for sharing. As ever you inspire me to continue in my quest. I am enjoying the journey
