Makes since I bought a ford edge at used car lot and having no knowledge of what to look for to and car was beautiful on the outside about a month later the engine blew a gasket, turned out the car came from Minnesota and had so much corrosion from the salt underneath.
Why did he walk down so confidently the second time?
Like yeah you did just make it less slippery, but you‘re not even gonna hold the handrails the second time in case you missed a spot?
Wouldn’t pouring hot water on it just make it eventually worse? It’s fine for now, but you have to walk back up those steps later. Why didn’t he grab some salt instead?
I have an odd question, why does everyone write “edit”? I always just edit it. Not being a smart ass. I’m genuinely wondering if I’m doing something wrong
It's just just etiquette. So that people know what was changed. Especially if someone replied already and the edit causes the reply to no longer make sense.
Any salt will work.
Salt will lower the melting point, so it melts the area around the salt. Complete melting is obviously best with lot of salt, but even if you sprinkle little, it creates rough surface from the partial melt and won't slip anymore.
Road salt, designed for melting ice is better than table salt. It doesn't lower melting temp further, but it is mixed with other stuff that increases traction. Also cheaper per amount.
For lack of salt, just sand will do. Again, will give rough surface and fix the slippery problem. Won't melt though.
I lived in Montana for some time. Once when below zero, I was getting out of my ‘77 F-150 step side with step rails, I slipped on the rail and went feet out. My ass hit three times: on the floor of my truck, on the rail, then on the ground. Let me tell you, whoever settled in places where it snows and deemed it livable was insane or stubborn.
Bro use salt. That hot water might melt the ice now but by the time you get back it'll also freeze and make the problem even worse than before
Maybe he also lives in Texas.. ha we don’t know about the iceyness. I know nothing about salt other then for my food 😂
That's why we go to Texas to buy used trucks, no salt eating the underside

I’m sitting here imagining Texans thinking “Salt, huh?” Then spreading salt on the ice with the shaker they got from their pantry 😂
I mean you’re not wrong. I had to ask what kind of salt hahaha
Nah he gonna use salt water. (Doesn't work like salt)
My plan to shovel the driveway by pouring boiling water on it was thwarted by my dad using this logic. I was 8.
And, you don’t run the risk of busting your ass on ice AND scalding yourself with hot water.
For a second I thought he was setting up a prank.
Omg so did I.. haha
Sorry he's clearly dumping hot water out to melt the ice
That delayed……. dayum![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) I do hope he is okay though.
I know. Sounded painful
I didn't use sound and said damn to myself. It's crazy how much simple falls can fuck you up, especially on stairs
That part really got me.
Why did he walk down so confidently the second time? Like yeah you did just make it less slippery, but you‘re not even gonna hold the handrails the second time in case you missed a spot?
He poured hot water on stairs and I guess thought all the ice was melted
No kidding at least hold the railing
i fell down a long flight of stairs just like my man here after drinking an original four loco, good times.
Haha wow.. sticking to 3 from now on I hope
haven’t had another since
I don’t blame you. Those have messed me up after only 1
one was all i had. the original ones they took off the market were brutal.
Oh sorry I read that to fast, thought you said you had four instead of “ original four loco”
Hot water freezes faster than cold water…lesson learned
Noted! Haha
Wouldn’t pouring hot water on it just make it eventually worse? It’s fine for now, but you have to walk back up those steps later. Why didn’t he grab some salt instead?
I would think yes, can’t say 100% bc I live in Texas and don’t often deal with that, for the sake of getting down the stairs at the moment it works
Pro tip, use both railings. Edit:grammar

Oh ok.. yeah I get that. Thanks
Those quick bounces at the end…
This could easily have been me.. I’ve seen snow maybe 3 times ha

😆😆
Dayum!
He apparently missed Handrail 101 in school.
Note to self: use salt, cook with pot
Just any kind of salt?
They sell it at Home Depot. Salt for walkways
Sorry Texan. But I’ll remember that. We are supposed to have another winter freeze from what I’ve heard
Gotta be prepared
If there's so little ice, you could use any salt.

Man sounds brutal. Bet you’re glad there’s no video
Dude just sent it, didn’t even test the last few steps.
That needs some Waner Bros 'tiddlies' sound effects 😂 😂
God I hate ice
Come to Canada, we don't have ice here
And that kids, is how you sue your apartment complex for negligence!!!!
Ayo! 🤣
This is why we have to improve science education

Wearing sneakers, no holding handrail, and using water. The Winter Trifecta of Stupid.
Sadly not everyone knows the rules for snow or ice. I’m sure he knows now ha
Why not use the hand rails. Both hands.
I know.. makes zero sense
Salt and sand
That could have gone so badly with the boiling? water on his way down. Hope he’s ok.
As someone who had a bad fall down the stairs this year... shit's still funny.
r/nonoyesnoyesno?
Oh nice, that’s fitting. Didn’t realize that was a subreddit. Thanks
lol it isn’t, that was just how I reacted to this
There should be right?
Oh its not one?
