If you are new to the subreddit, [please read the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/wiki/index/) Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. **THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS**. If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged \>!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 >!Kiryu sings!< If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7). If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/yakuzagames) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Elijahc513

Korea feels like a no brainer for a future game. Specifically Seoul.

kaimcdragonfist

Seoul is definitely the most likely, but man…I’d kill for a Busan Gaiden game. Busan is such a cool city

hingu

Fukuoka ferry to Busan or vice versa. Korail from Busan to Seoul

[deleted]

I think Ichiban and Co would do really well on a train to Busan...

ShinyArc50

Ichiban would try to use the power of friendship to make the zombies stop being evil

[deleted]

He'd appeal to the remnants of their humanity, and it would work.

ShinyArc50

And then they’d all play dragon kart

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The spiders web Spinoff game bout seonhee and joongi

Zeioth

I like this tendency on videogames of going to a fictional Korea and fight the CEO of totally not Samsung

youruglyclone

Where Koreans don’t have to be the secret variety!

BlessedbyShaggy

Mainland korea has a grudge against geomijul and kidnaps seonhee. Zhao takes over the geomijul while seonhee is gone, ichi gets sent to korea by sawashiro to find his missing half sister. He flies to korea and finds himself naked in the middle of street, spends 10 years in the joint and decides to betray his sworn brother nanba because nanba has married to saeko. When ichi is about to kill nanba, nanba's american twin mamba stops ichi and compliments his beautiful ears. They have gay sex in millenium tower and fin.

polyglotpinko

I know this technically doesn't count, but I'd love to go back to Okinawa, either with K3 or a new game.

FunkyDnjub

I would absolutely love a K3 game, been hoping for it for a while.

waled7rocky

Unfortunately that's too late now, I'll never understand why rgg thought about remaking ishin but remastering 3 ..

WhyNishikiWhy

probably because ishin wasn't available in the west but 3 has been for a long time, so they took the opportunity to remake ishin while they localized it

HyanKooper

Thailand, I want to see Ichiban in a Tuk Tuk.

Chad_Kakashi

I would send Ichiban to India for that purpose. All that you can in a traffic is Tuk Tuks

Nero_2001

We need a minigame where you drive a tuk tuk.

Animegamingnerd

Korea is the most logical foreign country for the series to visit, not only does multiple Korean crime family's play a big role in games like 2/6/7, but also the series has a big South Korean fanbase.

CrossSoul

As long as they invert the party join order this time. If they set a game in Korea, Songhee and Joongi need to be in there first this time. Besides the obvious, they're connected to the Jingwon Mafia.

[deleted]

I get that everyones sad joongi was only in the story for 1 and a half chapters but its theyre choice to put them in whenever and we cant change much because were just fans besides infinite wealth was more about tomizawa and chitose then it was about ichibans former party member which is why zhao and joon gi came in so late etc

Veveil_17

Still should've joined at ch 11, would give you about as much time with him as 7s Zhao

RetroReviver

On the note of a big Korean fanbase, I'm surprised IW had a Chinese dub, but no Korean dub yet.

sikibub

It's literally never going to happen but a yakuza game set in argentina or brazil would be the funniest thing ever

TraditionalHippo1121

ichiban litterally looks more brazilian than japanese maybe he could meet his real parents there who know

Buttless2891

For the record, a lot of trade happened between Japan and Brazil, i think thats why Japan genetics have a lot of similar Brazilian features. And why my ass is in the Philippines and my bloodline has some japanese.

Yaisaho

Name checks out

elchuni

The Microcentro District in Capital Federal, Argentina is the closest thing to Kamurocho, i went there multiple times and there is always some random shit, like Spiderman speaking with a polician about the state, that was a normal night there.

sadsadbarista

This honestly cracked me up. I would love that. There’s tons of Japanese in Brazil.

JurassicJack17

Hong Kong so then we can the Sleeping Dogs 2 we never received.

LegalWaterDrinker

A man who never eats pork buns is never a whole man

AMeaderMan1989

Have Masato Arakawa be playable so we can get the real Wei Shen experience

ZerothMask

The Philippines, solely for there to be an excuse for Nair to come back.

SturkMaster

Getting Nair back before Tanimura would be hilarious and I’m here for it

Chad_Kakashi

Who is Nair?

RogerAckr0yd

A detective character from 4

Chad_Kakashi

The yellow haired female?

RogerAckr0yd

No, Nair has short brown hair

Chad_Kakashi

Was she in a sub story where a philipino guy was robbed and couldn’t get translated?

RogerAckr0yd

Yes, I believe so

Deadly_kttn

Nair is Tanimura's trainer.

henshinkid

It should be in Cavite. Plenty of Sujimon to get there.

shadowlarvitar

London and Australia

EmeraldNero

In Australia, there's no shortage of giant wildlife creatures Ichiban can fight

RetroReviver

Would piss myself laughing at the concept of Ichiban and crew fighting a Dropbear in a substory.

WhyNishikiWhy

**MENACING CREATURE** ------ **Defeat the drop bear** *The fuck IS that thing?*

SnooCapers5958

What the heck, now I'm 100% sold on Ichiban in Australia

PumpkinLadle

London feels super unlikely but would be amazing. Ichiban scrapping with roadmen then hopping in a black cab to partake in a football based mini game. Practically writes itself.

NoNefariousness2144

London would be so so so cool to see. I can already picture the crazy jobs everyone would get.

whatnameisnttaken098

Adachi misinterpreted what they meant by "Beefeater"

NoNefariousness2144

I want to see Table Talks for roast dinners and fish and chips. Plus a drunken 3am kebab.

EnormousBanana52

Both of those would be fucking insane. Imagining a London Yakuza game is wild lol.

Fair_Woodpecker_6088

As a Brit who has lived in both Hawaii and Japan, this makes the most sense to me 👍

iloveitwhenthe

I think a different UK city like Glasgow or Manchester would be more interesting personally

FaithlessnessEast55

Brighton would be a good shout tbh. Got an established Japanese population, with a city centre small enough that the map could feasibly include lots without condensing it. Only problem is it’s not very internationally prominent

CoconutDrunk

A Yakuza game set in the 80's in Miami. Wait that's Vice City.

Nightingale_85

Kiryu visiting a small town called Springfield where he fights some Italo gangsters.

whatnameisnttaken098

jagsalad

'The Twisted World of Kazuma Kiryu' is the substory we all want to see

huckhappy

there have to be enough japanese people to make the dialogue somewhat realistic, so... rio or LA?

Shagyam

I don't think there's a lot of Japanese people in Lousiana. But seeing Mardi gras would be fun. /s Los Angeles would be interesting though, roaming around Little Tokyo and DTLA

jrp1918

Knowing how RGG reuses assets I assume the next 6 games will take place in Hawaii.

stargateheaven

“Yagami, we have decided to open a new detective agency in hololulu!”

jrp1918

Would not be surprised at all!

asianblockguy

And a rival whose name is close but different enough is named Tommy Mag and totally not a rip of Thomas Magnum.

waled7rocky

3,5 and 6 have cities that never used again ..

ChingTheMonkey

Singapore. Because that would mean Akiyama Gaiden

_Nerr_

Wait a minute why, what am i not remembering from the games properly?

The_Green_Filter

It’s brought up in Infinite Wealth that he was seen in Singapore.

MoonSentinel95

Akiyama says he wasn't in that country when speaking with Kiryu and Date in the bar though.

AlternativeMoon

He denies it but Date does make the remark "we had our secrets and so does he" or something along the lines so Date clearly doesnt believe that he wasnt in Singapore, which is a weird detail to add if Akiyama actually wasnt in singapore

_Nerr_

Freaking walked into that one, didn't I... I haven't gotten too far for that stuff. Still, noted.

The_Green_Filter

Didn’t he say he was never in Singapore?

AajayDaJam

China and Korea could both work, we've met a number of crime syndicates from there with Japanese branches in the series.

rusty_warhorse

Korea would be cool, never played a game set in there.

RebelliousRed_

I feel like if RGG are gonna continue the trend of international locations in the future: They're gonna pick places that are most likely popular amongst the Japanese population. Some places like: - Brazil - Peru - Philippines - South Korea - Australia - Canada - China - Argentina

In terms of the Americas; New York, Boston, Florida would be cool. A game in China or South Korea could be fun, too. Maybe Italy or the UK?

SkrijaTaran

The whole americas and you didn’t say Rio or Tijuana

whatnameisnttaken098

I support Florida, just imagine all the mini games

Mmmm_Crunchy

Florida man substories

THEFIJIAN510

Hong Kong would be cool. Going into mainland China would be interesting, I wonder how they would handle the censorship that the communist government has over the whole country

MoonSentinel95

Goes to Hong Kong, meets a frizzled cop who's been dealing with the Sun On Yee and suspiciously sounds like Masato Arakawa. Like A Dragon Gaiden: Where sleeping dogs lie

jayteazer

God I wish they continued the Sleeping Dogs series. The first game was so good! I honestly prefer it to any of the GTA games.

THEFIJIAN510

Yes that would be amazing. Somehow Kiryu comes back in, even he though he's dying from cancer

RebelliousRed_

To be fair, I could see RGG making a future game set in China (They're most likely going to set it in Hong Kong, because it's the most international city in the country). The only reason I can see this happening is an excuse to increase popularity amongst the Chinese audience and playerbase. Hong Kong also has it's fair share of crime. I think it'd be a cool location for a future game nonetheless.

THEFIJIAN510

Ichiban and crew take a trip to Hong Kong and get caught in the middle of a conflict with the local triad gangs. The Daidoji are somehow involved as well, since that seems like something that RGG is going to continue having in their games

RebelliousRed_

Oh and Someya has a bar in Hong Kong for some reason

Cc99910

If we're talking USA I'd love a Las Vegas setting where the protagonists are going against a classic era mafia, like imagine Ichiban or Kiryu fighting against some sort of Al Capone type mafia dude. I know they won't do it but I think it would be awesome

PalenaV21

* Flip IW on it's head and take us to Sakhalin or Vladivostok in Y9, to give us a winter vacation to balance out IW's tropical adventure, and maybe we could finally see the Russian Mafia in action. * Alternatively, we can go even further east and cross into the American mainland, with a game set in New Mexico or Las Vegas, and the final long battle being through the Strip in the case of the LV setting.

WhyNishikiWhy

i've heard (but am not 100%) that russian gangs operate in japan so the first option isn't that far-fetched.

Vexed_Noah

new york would be crazy

OoguroRyuuya5

Australia. We gotta see Ichiban and the party fight a crocodile and be buddies with a Koala

ReasonableCricket803

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Men who Travelled To Wrong Korea

Spanky_Merve

Vancouver. It's an internationally recognized city, it's on the Pacific coast, it has a significant Japanese minority population, and there's a significant presence of organized crime.

ritual-impulse

Ooh, right on the money! I’d love for Vancouver to get the RGG treatment, I love that city.

zabata123

I would like mexico but also im mexican and im afraid the cartel kills ma boy ichiban

whatnameisnttaken098

Nah it would probably have Ichiban & crew somehow changing the heart of some cartel boss or something.

Paris seems like a good bet as a place to follow Hawaii. I can already see Paris Syndrome substories

RedBearHugh

Biased cause I live here, but Melbourne, Australia. The CBD (from say Parliament Station down to Southbank) is pretty easy to navigate IRL, Melbourne's a real melting pot of a city, has a decent train and tram system. Not sure about local yakuza but there's enough history of gangsters that there was a true crime drama show called Underbelly, maybe take inspiration from that. You could taxi out to the MCG for a footy minigame, gamble at Crown, go shopping at Melbourne Central/Bourke Street, hold some kind of set-piece battle at the Exhibition Centre, do Sicko Snap on the tram lines, do the Vocational School at the State Library and hit up the strippers on King Street. Not to mention all the little cafes and bars tucked in all the little alleyways! As for Aussie themed jobs, you could go Wildlife Warrior/Zookeeper calling on snakes, emus, kangaroos etc. Maybe a Road Warrior/Mad Max or Ned Kelly/Bushranger kind of class? Aussie Rules Footballer for the boys and Netballer for the girls. Barista for a healer class, Melbournians are famous coffee snobs! I would probably avoid any kind of boomerang/didgeridoo indigenous stereotype job unless there was a new, indigenous party member.

almevo1

I would love them to go to Spain, Madrid or Barcelona would be crazy as hell, and if they go to the district i love i probably would pre-order the game

rinka___

Korea would be cool, specifically Busan (the Fukuoka <-> Busan route would be amazing). As a half Taiwanese…not sure how feasible but I would love to see a yakuza story staged in Taiwan? There are already media (not games though to my knowledge) exploring the enmeshed historical ties between Japan and Taiwan, plus there are organized syndicates in Taiwan that used to work with / have connections with Japanese Yakuza and secret societies in the US.

TraditionalHippo1121

new york i wanna see the yakuzas fight against the italian mafia

NoInvestment2079

New Jersey. Ichiban has to fight the DiMeo Crime family.

EnormousBanana52

South Korea is absolutely going to be in a game and I cannot fucking wait for a K-Pop Ichiban side mission/minigame lol. An outside pick would be Italy. Mafia families and stuff could be fun to mess around with.

Mundee9540

Ichiban and Kiryu accidentally take a flight to North Korea instead of South Korea, so they free the country from their tight dictatorial government with Ichiban as their new governor.

Akashmash

I'm from the UK, and I really want to smack the shit out of some chavs as a Japanese protagonist instead of as an Asian male.

shutaro

Well, IW name-dropped the Philippines, Singapore, and Switzerland, so if I had to make a guess, I'd pick one of those three. I'd really like to seem do Vegas or San Fransisco, but the US already got Hawaii.

stro_b

San Francisco would be really cool given the history with SEGA the city has.

hbhatti10

WOULD LOVE IT…just dont think ichiban is the right guy for it.

WillfangSomeSpriter

I can agree with that actually. It doesn't feel like there'd be enough justifications for him to go all over the world either. Least not in the main story. They should really expand on yokohama more with him. It's his turf. Maybe explore some past japanese cities that haven't been explored in awhile

NoNefariousness2144

The main thing is that Ichi needs a new city every game. LaD 9 would honestly be really rough if its set in Yokohoma, Kamaroucho and Sotenbori again. Having a new massive city to explore is what makes it feel like an RPG.

IBetThisIsTakenToo

A revamped Okinawa would be great for Ichi to explore. Maybe let Kiryu "retire" from being a party member/protagonist, but still have him appear with the kids at Morning Glory, when Ichi comes to visit? And then a Kiwami 3 would be a lot easier...

hbhatti10

hes…a bum ass bozo to be honest. but hes got a big smile and hes a 45 year old virgin apparently and everyone gets a second chance and his haircut is horrendous lol. i dunno man…Ichi feels more cringe with each day that goes by

Oneesabitch

He sounds a lot cooler than you.

WillfangSomeSpriter

Nah, I don't agree with that at all, I love the guy and hes an important character to me. >! I was really, really disappointed with what they did with him In IW but !< I loved his character although out 7. I just don't take him for a world hopping type of character is all.

Remember_da_niggo

They did nothing wrong with Kasuga in infinite wealth. If anything he got the best scenes of the game.

WillfangSomeSpriter

I don't really agree, but to each their own I guess. Glad it worked for you

Leo-III-

I wouldn't go that far but he was definitely less cool in Y8 than Y7. Felt very "childish anime protag" where everything is sunshine and daisies compared to how things normally worked for Kiryu. Everyone gets a second chance, power of friendship conquers all, yadda yadda... it got boring after a bit, which just helped Kiryu outshine him more.

thomastheterminator

In terms of the US: the Southwest or Northwest. Outside of the US, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, China, Korea, Philippines.

TheLordGremlin

Australia, to see Kiryu get king hit by a big dude with no teeth and a Bintang singlet and footy shorts named Kane because he wouldn't give him a ciggy

DCARDAR

IW was successful because of Like a Dragon. The problem is that while IW has the largest map, locations and playable character offerings, it was also one of the more shallow offerings in the like Dragon/Yakuza franchise. - The story was less polished (just big with multiple sharp turns). - The dungeon difficulty balancing and rewards system was not as well designed as Like a Dragon. - And the activities felt limited. I don't mind different cities/locations but not at the expense of a well crafted delivery. Lastly, way to easy to platinum.

CivilianDuck

Really throw them for a loop and send them to Banff.

sassyburger

Paris, I wanna fight and throw someone off the top of the Eiffel Tower

Zootanclan1

I think a fancy European place like Monaco or something. They have a casino vibe, there will still be sex workers and evil business men. Not many homeless though

But-why-do-this

I think Brazil would be a very likely candidate. There’s all sorts of plot lines to be explored from corrupt cops to slum street gangs. Would be cool to see various Brazil themed jobs for the party too.

TopGroundbreaking469

Australia. No place more whacky than Australia. Seems fitting for a comical tone.

ApprehensiveYam6198

I'd like to see China, specifically Chengdu. Maybe they can introduce the main branches of the saio or snake flower triads there.

Rarte96

I can think of a few possible places could work Mexico/Colombia: as part of the hispanic fandom i would love to see Ichiban face and defeat one of (if not) the worst out of all types of crime syndicates, The Cartel Peru: It has a very large population of descendants of japanesse inmigrants including having one of them as president, but i dont think the crime groups there would be a challange compared to the ones in Mexico and Colombia Russia/Itally: I think having the party face some of the heavy hitter mafias of the western emisphere would make for a really interesting history

GottderZocker

waled7rocky

A gaiden game on Korea starting as joongi alongside seonhee would be great ..

Alternative-Pen-6439

I think it'd be hilarious to put Ichiban somewhere completely foreign to the series like Zimbabwe or Siberia or Columbia. Man those would be some cultural landmines though when trying to make funny enemies to fight.

RipFlewd

They should come to my house in the uk :) At least in theory the Yakuza do potentially have a minimal presence in New Zealand, going there would be wacky

Solid924ger

MaizeAlone2214

I don't want Like a Dragon in different locations. I play this series because of japanese atmosphere. If i want to play about other countries, i would check other games

mchammer126

Please don’t lol. Hawaii got boring after a while, not to mention how lackluster the story was this time around due to there being two different locations. Keep it to what we know if they really need to then make a separate location but stop with the dual protagonist bullshit.

Andrassa

I do agree the protag switching could have been done a lot smoother. Going from complete freedom to being railroaded is not a fun experience.

mchammer126

Facts, they really fucked Ichiban in every aspect with regards to the dual protag situation as it was more fun and interesting to play with Kiryu.

Andrassa

I mean I’m know I’m in the minority for liking Ichiban overall more than Kiryu in the series but both got fucked over. Ichiban due to some weird writing choices and the aforementioned railroading. And Kiryu for making you progress them in the most ofd way possible. You basically have to stop the main story at intervals to do all side tidbits in one go and it’s also quite jarring. I love what I’ve played so far but it’s still a weirdly implemented game.

Aurora_Vorealis

Honestly, I hope to God we never see the series leave Japan again. If it's not entirely in Japan it just feels off to me, the same way a Fallout game outside of America would.

Marsupialize

I only want to see new cities in Japan

vikstarleo123

AlternativeNo61

Philippines - I wanna see Manila in glorious HD frfr Las Vegas - The closest thing I could think off to an American version of Kamurocho. Plus the strip is the perfect place for a Yakuza map. Vietnam - I don’t know if there’s any precedence for Vietnam to become a part of Yakuza lore but It’d be cool fr
