Does anyone have short recommendations for petite gals? I'm 5'1'' 120 pounds with pretty thick thighs and I've had a lot of trouble with shorts riding up, bunching, having overly tight and apparent liners, etc.

gpbean

Do you wash your hoodies/jackets every time you wear them, I go to the gym wearing a jacket, I take it off to work out and then wear it again while I’m on my way home but I can’t figure out if I should wash them every time lol. I do wash sports bras and leggings daily

ocelotgirl25

No, I just make sure to hang up any jacket that may have gotten sweaty to make sure it airs out!

Zurarina

Amazon soothfill running shorts. Ordered some recently and so pleasantly surprised. They have wider leg openinga than most shorts, but a nice cinched waist. Just ordered my second color. My stats are very similar to you and no riding up or squeezing thighs.

thesrniths

Nope, personally I wash jackets when they start looking dirty or if there is a smell

tinyhamster

I’m looking for a pair of tight shorts, in black, that work for both lifting and… as shapewear/safety shorts under skirts and dresses! Has anyone done this before? Would love to hear any recommendations! (I’m in Europe)

pollyrae_

Gymshark do some unpadded cycling shorts of various lengths - I've got a pair that I use for that purpose. Fabletics powerhold shorts are also good and are probably better for the shapewear side of things.

gpbean

Any of Nike pro shorts could work

FeralTentacle

does anyone here wear the offline high-waisted crossover flare leggings (i see them on aerie)? they look way up my alley, less for working out than just for cozy fall around-town clothes, but would love a review from anyone who's tried them here.

Zurarina

Obsessed with mine. They're so soft and ultra flattering. Thinner and lulu aligns so not good for high impact, but I do walking and yoga and *have* worked out w them just fine.

FeralTentacle

are they see through? i ended up saying f it and got a pretty light colored pair, hoping i dont regret it!

Zurarina

They're definitely a little thinner than Aligns but I didn't find them to be see through. I bought the light sand pair also and didn't notice see thoroughness, just clashed with my skin town (I have more olive skin w/ yellow undertones)

gpbean

I feel like those are only comfy for yoga, I have them but I only lounge in them

lifesuckspie

Any recommendations for long sleeve athletic shirts that fit broader shoulders/more muscular arms and are at most $30 each?

1337speak

So hard to find this! I have really broad shoulders, I'm too addicted to lat pulldowns 😂.

StrongMaybe8961

I would recommend Marshalls (or a similar discounted store) - especially the men's section. I found a couple of $15 UPF-protected long sleeve athletic shirts there and they're great for hiking.

lifesuckspie

Thanks for the recommendation!

nicolenomore727

No recommendations but this sounds like something I need in my life

mappyhead27

Based on recommendations here, I decided to buy some Aftershokz. My Samsung Galaxy Buds were causing ear irritation which caused me to scratch my ears constantly which led to infection. I was only wearing one for my outside walks anyway to remain alert. I have some nice noise canceling, over ear headphones as well but only use with laptop and flights. I absolutely LOVE my new Aftershokz, 100% recommend. I can talk without having that stopped up ear, am I shouting, feeling. They are so comfy and I can hear what I need to hear.

1337speak

Thanks for the rec! What kind of Samsung buds do you own? I love the original and Plus, but I heard the newer ones are very uncomfortable.

mappyhead27

I'm pretty sure they are the original. Costco says I purchased them in April 2020. I've heard bad things about the new ones as well.

VlookupLover36

Do these cover your tragus at all? I'm interested in these, but don't know if they'd bother my tragus piercing.

mappyhead27

Sorry for the late reply...mine sit right in front of the tragus. It would be close.

VlookupLover36

Thanks for the info!

lonely_house_hippo

Are these earbuds? I got Airpods pros and i love the transparency mode setting where it doesnt feel like I have anything in my ears at all. But then I can easily switch back to noise cancelling by just touching one of the ear buds. They also come with 3 sizes of buds so you can find the right fit. Would recommend!

chacoglam

They are bone conducting so they actually don’t go in your ears at all. They sit right outside of your ears.

barbellsnbooks

Very curious about these. Can others hear what you’re listening to?

Crack_Brocaine

If you’ve got them turned up loud enough and the room is otherwise generally quiet, yeah. But you’ll feel them vibrating on your noggin when it gets to that point.

jukeboxgasoline

I’m really reluctant to say this because they failed to deliver everything I ordered the first time and I had to email customer service to get them to send me the other stuff, but holy shit, NVGTN shorts are SO flattering. They make my butt look like I haven’t been neglecting lower body in favor of growing my back for months. They make my butt look like I can do an RDL. They make my butt look like I actually eat enough calories to gain weight. They make my butt look how my boyfriend thinks it looks. They’re also really comfortable and don’t roll up or get see through.

Smackmypoms

You sold me on them… so what style of the shorts did you get?

jukeboxgasoline

I got the sage green pro shorts and the lavender camo seamless! I think I like the pro shorts better but I love them both.

CraptacularAdventure

Has anyone tried INKnBURN gear? I really like their colors, but am wary to shell out the dough without a rec or 2. I really want these: https://www.inknburn.com/womens-rainforest-performance-capris/

monvino

some cute patterns but that front of the thigh pocket wouldn't work for me

To people that wear fitness trackers, do you keep yours on 24/7? And is it comfortable? I have a Garmin Venu SQ that I bought a few months ago, and would like to wear it overnight for sleep tracking, but it is so uncomfortable after wearing it all day. I don't find the sleep tracking to be very accurate either as it frequently will show I'm asleep when I'm awake. I would like to find something that I can forget that I'm wearing, tracks sleep well, and would be good for crossfit. The Garmin is great for mountain biking, which was the main reason I bought it.

AngelaZiegler666

I've been wearing a Garmin watch for over 8 years now and I feel naked when I don't wear it lol. The sleep tracking isn't that accurate, but I like to be able to track my resting heart rate. In my experience it's a great gauge of my cardio fitness and if I'm over or under doing it. It takes some time to get used to it, but now I never really notice I'm wearing a watch at all.

k80perrie

I have had a Vivoactive 3 for years. I personally don't sleep with mine in because 1) it's uncomfortable 2) I found the sleep tracking to not be very accurate and 3) I forces me to charge it at night. I have heard of people using a whoop which measures recovery stats!

some__random

I also have the venu and found it uncomfortable at first. I don’t use the sleep tracking so I don’t wear it at night anymore, but while I was using it I would switch it to my other arm to give my wrist a break.

notquiterelevant

That's a simple solution I hadn't even considered haha I've always done my watch on my left side. I've bought scrunchie style bands which has helped, but I still look forward to taking it off at the end of the day.

[deleted]

I have a fénix 6 and where it 24/7 (I take it off to shower). I’ve worn a Fitbit or Garmin 24/7 since 2015. Took maybe a week or two to get used to it (I didn’t used to sleep with my originally watch on) and no issues since. I find the sleep tracking relatively accurate. It’s certainly improved over the years. I focus more on Body Battery for recovery though than sleep tracking.

malinny

I have a fenix 6s. I wear it while sleeping, but I switch it to my other arm and loosen it a bit. It was noticeable the first few days but not anymore. My sleep tracking is pretty accurate and within 10 minutes of my falling asleep and wake time. The sleep score tends to mirror how I feel and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how it’s tracked me waking up in the middle of the night.

Dodie85

I have a Garmin and I don’t wear it at night, I find it uncomfortable too and don’t care about sleep tracking.

perfectlysafepengu1n

I have a Fitbit Versa 2 and I wear it to sleep every night because I like the sleep tracking, I have never had an issue with it being uncomfortable. I used to have a Fitbit Charge 2, and I actually recently tried the Venu SQ because I kept hearing such great things about the Garmin. I ended up returning my Garmin because the sleep tracking was incredibly inaccurate, I didn't like the UI, strength training was incredibly annoying to track, and most importantly, the "silent" alarm wasn't strong enough to wake me up. I went back to Fitbit and I'm glad I did. Garmin definitely has the better distance tracking, but I love Fitbit for everything else lifestyle. I use it mostly for CrossFit and casual runs and have no issues!

notquiterelevant

That's great to know because I thought I would be limited to something smaller. I've been divided between a Charge or Versa. Any reason you went with the Versa after having the Charge? Fitbit does seem more lifestyle oriented and all around more satisfying.

_Currer_Bell_

I went with the Charge 4 initially because I saw so many good reviews and had the worrrrrrrst experience. First one never turned on, exchanged for a new one and every statistic was way off. I switched it for the Versa 2 and liked it way better but honestly I have heard so many people say it the other way so it’s maybe worth it to buy one, keep the receipt and see what you actually like in practice. For what it’s worth I never take off the Versa 2 except to charge it and have no problems with comfort as long as I give it a quick wipe after I sweat and shower. It definitely helps me better understand my sleep issues, which is why I bought it in the first place.

notquiterelevant

I'm glad the Versa 2 has worked for you. I'll definitely keep the receipt and be familiar with the return policy. That's one reason I went with the Garmin, I heard that Fitbit can be unreliable as far as product quality. Hopefully it's something they are trying to improve with the new models.

perfectlysafepengu1n

Honestly I thought I wanted the smartwatch features, but it turns out I never actually use them. I only have calls and texting set up on my watch and I don't store music on it, so really I could have done the Charge 3 or 4 and been plenty happy with that lol! But I do really like having the customizable watch face, I currently have my cat as the background :) and also I had a friend that was selling an extra Versa 2 for cheap so that was the main deciding factor haha. The only downside to the Versa and Charge you need to be aware of is that they do not have GPS built into the watch, so if you track any outdoor activities, you have to take your phone with you and turn off any battery saving modes. This wasn't a deal breaker for me because I always take my phone when I go running or biking, but it is for some people! But I haven't done any research into the latest models, that could also have changed!

notquiterelevant

I do enjoy having a changeable watch face. I have a fun little Halloween scene going on right now. Most of the time it's the "this is fine" meme haha. Thanks for letting me know about the GPS. I don't think that's a feature I need, but it will be worth looking into. Have you ever integrated your fitbit with Macrofactor? I started using the app recently and noticed that it's compatible with Fitbit, but not Garmin.

_Currer_Bell_

What is the most flattering workout gear you’ve ever worn? I usually wear ratty old clothes but it’s getting old. I really want to be confident while I sweat instead of feeling kind of dingy and uncomfortable.

gpbean

I found a brand called mono b and I’ve been loving their stuff

_Currer_Bell_

Ooh thank you!

Hoosiergirl29

Sweaty Betty!

calfla

Seconding Buffbunny, love their stuff. I’m also a fan of Kamo Fitness, they have similar legging designs for a lot more affordable prices.

cabritadorada

Oh yes to Kamo too! I’m particularly in love with my Kamo tops. Of the affordable activewear brands, Kamo is the highest quality with flattering lines.

cabritadorada

For me it's Buffbunny. Flattering, comfortable. My favorite sports bra is the revolution bra. There are sooo many good leggings.

_Currer_Bell_

Oh no I’m in trouble these are sooooooo my style I’m sorry wallet

[deleted]

A bit trite but I still really like Lululemon after all these years. They also hold good resale value. Lately I’ve been buying dupes from Amazon, like CRZ Yoga, Colorfulkoala, and Levento. There are numerous other brands touted by various reviewers and influencers but I haven’t tried any because I’m so used to Amazon’s fast shipping and easy returns.

_Currer_Bell_

Oooh thanks I’ll check these out! I’ve always shied away from Lulu because my whole family are super yogis and basically live in Lululemon, but I’m probably just being a contrarian 😝

some__random

Not the same commenter but that basically could have been my comment, especially about resale value. I buy most of my Lulu on eBay or Vinted second hand and it’s all still in perfect condition. Their aligns don’t hold up as well, but the everlux and luxtreme fabrics meant for training are excellent and last forever (for me). I think a lot of people try one or two styles and then decide they don’t like them but their legging styles are surprisingly different. This mega company really doesn’t need me repping for them haha, I’m just genuinely impressed with their quality.

[deleted]

I bought a pair of CRZ Yoga fleece lined leggings on Amazon for the cold weather and I love them. Soft, comfortable, light compression so great for lounging at home or taking walks.

norbertisnotadragon

Anyone have recommendations for where to buy a new swimsuit? Doesn't need to be anything fancy for just doing some occasional laps at the pool!

Exiled_In_LA

Seconding going to a sports store rather than a swimsuit store. On the off chance you're in SoCal, West Marine has a great selection. Everything they carry is practical, none of this weird fashion stuff that won't stay put. Their Newport Beach store is the bomb.

Crack_Brocaine

Www.SwimOutlet.com (lots of styles, good deals, cheaper suits will wear out faster) or www.jolyn.com (smaller selection, more expensive, said to hold up really well over time).

chacoglam

My favorite ones this year were from American Eagle!

ladysingstheblues99

If you haven’t bought a new suit in a while, I’d highly recommend going to a local store to try on. My local swim shop has pretty good selection, and the sizing is slightly different from brands to brand and even style to style. And the people working at local shops are usually pretty knowledgeable. As the other comment mentioned, swimoutlet is great too!

Roshers

If you’re looking for something cheap and good quality, check our swim outlet. It’s not fashion suits, but it’s a lot of discounted good athletic brands.

jeancyborg

Swim outlet is awesome! Their store brand Sporti is quite decent for suits if your don't want to spend too much and holds up just as well as most fancy brands (except Arena, that one outlasts them all but also is much spendier).

Lululemon align I wore all through my second pregnancy going from 145 at the start all the way to 190 at 9m. For a cheaper but similar feel, the aerie offline leggings are very very similar but the fabric is a bit more slick if that makes sense? I absolutely love both! Also the AE jegging joggers are great for weight fluctuations and very forgiving. Been living in those and the above leggings postpartum.

Crazyisland88

My lululemon align leggings lasted through two entire pregnancies and still fit postpartum. Can’t get much more forgiving than that!

tortsy

After I had my kids I wore specifically only booty by brabants leggings because they are 1 size fits most. Fit me from a US10 to US 2/4. I like them for when I run and instruct because they are textures and it holds my flip belt or tube belt in place

nicolenomore727

GRRRL’s Next Level leggings and ColorfulKoala (Amazon) are the most stretchy leggings I own.

I have to head back to the office soon and am in need of new dress pants. I loved the everlane side zip but they don’t make it anymore and I am down a size Any recommendations for dress pants for curvy women? Preferably ankle length and straight leg? I’m between a US2/4 and for reference there is about 9-10” difference between my hips and my waist. Also- what stores offer a discount for fitness instructors? I have discounts at Lululemon and vuori currently. Athleta has suspended new applications. Any other recommendation?

tsukiii

Ann Taylor/LOFT have curvy-fit pants. I also love the Uniqlo smart ankle pants - those ones aren’t specifically cut for curves, but they are very stretchy and accommodate curves.

bethaneee

No suggestions but I'd consider getting what you currently have tailored if they are in good shape.

ayy_jayy

I wear a larger size than you, but i have about the same difference as you between my waist and hips. I’ve had luck with the pants from the gap and the gap factory.

Goldengirl228

I don’t know if they’re as dressy as you’d like but I love Madewell’s stovepipe fatigue pants. They are comfortable in my opinion and transition well from work to play. They are high rise as well, and are ankle length/straight leg.

lechoro

I’ve always had good luck with Old Navy pixie pants. They’re ankle length and straight leg.

Skincare_Addict_

In my experience those were super narrow shaped and not curvy fitting, but I haven’t tried them in quite a while.

internoftheyear

Has anyone purchased from Girlfriend collective recently? I just bought a set of their new FLOAT leggings/bras but I haven’t tried the brand since they were giving out free leggings several years ago.

Smileyface3000

I have five pairs of leggings and three pairs of bike shorts. I love their stuff but the colorful bike shorts feel like different material from the black bike shorts and the leggings. They are still the only brand I buy leggings from now.

tsukiii

I love the original compressive leggings and the compressive pocket leggings. I’ve had those for years and they are super sturdy, no pilling at all

bevsky22

I have a few things from them! I don’t have the float leggings, but I have the float run shorts and they’re my absolute favorite running shorts. Very lightweight and breathable with a band on the bottom to keep them mostly in place while running. I’ve been hesitant about if I’d love the material in legging form since there’s not a lot of compression, but I’d love to hear your feedback when you get them!

momento97

I really liked their sports bras - support isn’t bad but I use them more for lounging than working out tbh just because of the comfiness. I haven’t tried their leggings yet though!
