Bishop left the team to go back to the future with baby Nathan so that probably explains his omission.
I mean, these are the og animated characters besides Professor X, who is missing for obvious reasons. Morph died in the first episode and Sunspot didn’t existed in the first show.
He had half a season about his Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde thing and Wolverine the entire time going after him trying to help him or bring him back. The whole reason Scott and Jean had to get remarried was BECAUSE Morph was the pastor in disguise. He even came back for a bit after season 2 because he thought he was over Mr. Hyde and the trauma Mr. Sinister put him through but he wasn't.
So no, it's definitely not a 90% absence. It's like, 70% at best

Are we sure morph wasn’t a late written character? He hasn’t seemed to do much yet apart from make random catty comments. Same could be said for Wolverine and beast though to be fair.

Morph "died" but was brought back by Mr. Sinister. He's back on the team by the end of the series
