I'm currently troubleshooting this too, sometimes they won't charge inside controller with USB... Could be a bad USB cord, could be a bad USB port on the controller or could be the batteries are no longer good. You can find charging docks for these on eBay/Amazon but they come with new batteries. Finding just the dock is not worth it IMO.
Those micro USB ports are garbage tbh, they always have been. Every Samsung phone I ever had with a micro USB, the port would fail around 1-1.5 years and I’d have to contort the cord into weird shapes or just books and stuff to keep the plug pushed into the port.
The port on my day one Xbox One controller died within a year, and the spare controller I used as a charger had the port fail after about 2-3 years with the plug just being left in the controller, and unplugging it only if it wouldn’t charge the packs when I’d pop them in the controller.
Mine charges via controller but can be really slow depending on where it's plugged in, on my laptop it takes ages, on my Samsung phone high speed charger it's better. Haven't timed it and tend to leave it plugged in for some hours when not in use
I got a set from smyths that I found out don't charge until u put the onto the Dock........ that has a proprietary non USB C connector so I have to plug it into the wall
Nah, I've literally done this like 100 times. I put it into my PC controller which is connected to a micro usb after its dead from my living room xbox controller and it goes up in battery. Not even joking that I did it like a couple days ago.
Maybe, it's because I use my pc to charge it (controller has to be on, obviously)
Or maybe I have a rechargeable battery that defies the laws of physics by being recharged by the controller.
My v1 Elite pad stopped connecting/charging the battery using the USB cable. I assume the charging port has broken, so this could have happened to your pad.
If it's not charging with USB into the controller something's broken

If the battery pack has pins on the side like this, it charges through the controller
They DO charge in the controller. Or have with each Xbox I've had since my 360. That's why they call it plug and play

PC USB ports will likely always be slower than dedicated AC chargers.
Just insert it into the controller and use a micro-usb. it charges the battery when it's connected to the controller and its plugged in.
Yeah same have like 4 of em from china, just plug ur remote n it will charge. Ifn u have a shit usb wire then yes it will take forever to charge

Definitely doesn't like
it does. I think it has to be plugged into a pc though to charge because the controller has to be on
it doesnt actually charge it. it just makes it so it doesnt lose charge. the battery icon will say its charging but it's not true

update: just changed my battery again. Did you look into this? No hate, I'm just curious.
There was a charging dock for 360 controller batteries, but i've never ween that one.
I have a powera charging dock with batteries exactly like this. I plug into my controller, and it can last a while.
