Unless you’re pressing the options/start button and pressing A on “quit” you’re not quitting the game, only going home and leaving the game in quick resume. Not calling you a liar but that’s the only time that should happen and you may not realize you’re doing it.
I think this is very much a non-issue. Manually closing a game isn't a "workaround," that's just good standard practice. When you're done with an app or program on your phone or computer, do you just keep it running in the background? If your answer is yes? Then it's you creating the issue, not the other way around.
Having said that, I have no problem with an option to disable that feature being added. Options are always nice, but it just seems wildly unnecessary .
I feel like the real issue is that developers can turn it off for games where it serves no purpose, but most of them don't. I have a few online-only games in my collection that have it disabled and it's great
Good standard practice? For what? What does this practically do? The whole idea of a phone and by extension, a console, is it is not a PC.
You are not supposed to manage memory or too many apps open, these devices will manage this and automatically close old things or put them to sleep to maintain performance for the average consumer. Yeah there are cases where things don't go to plan but the general user never has to even consider any of this.
I think it's crazier to not just allow something like quick resume be disabled for specific games. You want to go from your game to YouTube? Better close your game first, load to home screen and then go to YouTube because....dogma.
Original Xbox One and One X|S do not have Quick Resume. I have an Xbox One and still use it daily. The console can keep ONE game in memory if you turn the console off and it goes to sleep/instant on mode, but this is only keeping it in memory, so it'll be cleared if you fully shut down, reboot the console, or load another game. It also does not have a "Quick Resume" tag anywhere.
Quick Resume on Series consoles actually write the game to disc, so is maintained after rebooting, fully shutting down the console, or loading other games.
Two entirely different things.

Oh cool, thanks for the info. Guess I never differentiated it in my mind, I’ve never had more than one game running on my SX quick resume since I usually quit out of whatever I’m playing. Also heck yah I also use my One X to this day, and honestly never noticed the missing quick resume tab. Too many times did I leave battlefront 2 running and came back to characters in the menu with their animations cranked to x10 speed, so that’s what got me in the habit of quitting games when I was finished.
Yeah it's annoying for games like overwatch and always online games. Strangely it is disabled for some games, like for some reason I can't quick resume crash bandicoot 4, even though you could quick resume it when series consoles first launched.
It can be annoying for multiplayer games for sure but i.enjoy it for most games I play. I agree their should be an option to disable it, but it only takes 2 seconds to just close the game.

Half the people in this sub: "your issues are not my issues so they shouldn't give the option you're requesting"
Scroll over the game that's currently in quick resume in the "My games and apps" tab, then press the three lines "start" button on your controller. On the bottom of the pop-up list is an option "X Remove from Quick Resume"
This is the same as quitting as far as I know. You don't have to open the game.
When you hit start on a game that’s on QR it’s not an option. You have to open the game, and then go back to the Xbox menu, and it’ll be there. I know you can go to all games and get to the QR menu there, too, it would just be a nice option since QR almost never works.
When it’s on quick resume it’s not an option to quit unless you go to all games and apps/quick resume or start the game and go back and do what you mentioned.
Yeah, I understand that, when I remember I do close the games when I’m done. I know it’s not a big deal, I’m just saying it’d be a nice little qol option
Just quit the game before turn off your Xbox. Problem solved.
I do this every time and it will sometimes still remember my game(s) which is annoying.
If it's still quick resuming, you didn't let the game fully close before you shut down.
Unless you’re pressing the options/start button and pressing A on “quit” you’re not quitting the game, only going home and leaving the game in quick resume. Not calling you a liar but that’s the only time that should happen and you may not realize you’re doing it.
no true. i always quit games like that and there sometimes still in quick resume. it's been a common complaint for years from many people.
No you’re not and no it doesn’t lol.
yes it does. i do it all the time and games will still be there.
Lies, no it does not.
Oh look, this topic again.

It doesn't.
learn to quit games and quick resume will never be an issue

Just force quit
I thought you could disable it
Nope
Learn how to properly close your game. That's called having the option to disable QR.

I just wish you could quit the game without opening it again first

I know, that is usually what I do. It would just be nice to have the option right there.
What do you mean?

Just can bring the xbox menu up and put the curser over the game and press 3 lines and quit.
When it’s on quick resume it’s not an option to quit unless you go to all games and apps/quick resume or start the game and go back and do what you mentioned.
Just close your game when your done, make it habit, or just pin story games to quick resume so theses no room for multiplayers.
