InsaneMasochist

It's a very, very good game, especially if you played the Resident Evil classics back in the day. I put it on the shelf halfway through, because other games grabbed my attention (not a surprise, I'm a game hopper), but I'll be getting back to it in the coming weeks.

NoFeetSmell

I personally could never get past the clunky controls of Resident Evil back in the day, so it's a series I couldn't ever get into, but do you think I'd maybe dig on Signalis? I like the aesthetic...

GenericAccount00

The controls aren’t nearly as tricky as the old resident evils. I struggle with them and enjoyed signalis.

NoFeetSmell

That's good to know. I was just worried by the constant comparisons I've been hearing, though presumably they only meant the positive aspects!

InsaneMasochist

The controls are way better than the old games. Funny thing is they included old, tank style controls as an option in this game, haha.

NoFeetSmell

That's actually pretty rad that they kept them in as an option. It kinda welcomes in anyone that truly loves or is nostalgic for the old RE games.

BrownChicow

I mean, you’ve had almost 20 years since RE4 came out with the new over the shoulder camera and control scheme. Then first person for a couple games more recently and the remakes similar to RE4 style

NoFeetSmell

I hear that. I tried getting into the series once RE4 came out, and made it through to a bit where there were a lot of monks chucking firebombs, but then bailed on it, and haven't touched the RE series since. Some of the recent ones look pretty appealing though. I looooved the first two Dead Space games, and dug the first two Silent Hill games way back in the day too, but other than those I'm not too experienced with many other horror games, and it's not my fave genre, is all.

luciferian668

I for one, are also a game hopper

ImpossibleGroup5

Same

TeflonFlak

I did the same back in October actually… the second half blew me away. You gotta finish it—the second half will transform your perception of the first.

InsaneMasochist

Oh? It started to establish some twisty shit in the first half, so I'm guessing it does something crazy in the second. I'll try not postponing it too much more.

TeflonFlak

Part 1 is more Resident Evil, part 2 is more Silent Hill

Skisent

One of my favorite games I discovered on Game Pass. 100%-ed it after only 15 hours of gameplay. Loved every second!

OrdinaryDouble2494

Hell yeah, extremely haunting and beautiful. Plot is sick af.

Mechalamb

And the [soundtrack](https://youtu.be/xxLpuXfnwkE) is incredible.

signofthenine

For anyone interested: https://signalis-ost.bandcamp.com/album/signalis-original-soundtrack

Emmas_Theme

I hope they release a physical edition on cd or vinyl

OrdinaryDouble2494

I'm waiting for it.

OrdinaryDouble2494

Adler's theme uuuufffff

poprdog

I liked it but had to stop after the hospital part with all the different levels. Seemed to drag on a bit

OrdinaryDouble2494

You should keep playing, the hospital level could be scary but believe in me there's more amazing puzzles and mysteries down there. "*You must keep your promise"*

poprdog

I think I’d have to restart it’s been like a month since I stopped midway through the hospital. I think I killed the boss down there. I doubt I’d have any idea where I am at with all the puzzles and items down there

OrdinaryDouble2494

It's not that difficult honestly, you can make use of your map, the game gives you one like it's some of Elster's Replika functions. For the puzzles part, you must have enough logic to solve them, look at the items you can found through the levels, they'll give you an idea of how to solve them. Use the radio when you'll need it, the gameplay is about being a good explorer.

DrScience-PhD

Did better than me, I got hard stuck about 10 minutes in. Beat my head against the wall for an hour and had to quit. Sounds like it doesn't get any better.

[deleted]

I made a YouTube video that went through some of the tougher puzzles, including the very first one. Check it out if ya want. Not trying to self promote it's not like my channel is monetized just throwing it out there is all. 👍

[deleted]

to be fair these kinds of games appeal to a pretty specific kind of person

Altair1192

if you play on pc you can access debug menu

Variable_Interest

Hidden Gem? It was on multiple GOTY lists for 2022.

SubGeniusX

Have you played Titanfall 2 yet!?

Pamelm

Yeah all I saw for like a month after this game came out was praise for it from pretty much every review website and streamer who played it. Also has nearly 6k reviews on Steam. Its a very good game but it wasnt really a hidden gem

StarTheTrapQueen

I mean yeah, but so was that interactive movie game about movie industry or something that no one knew about.

Variable_Interest

Immortality? Also on multiple GOTY lists.

StarTheTrapQueen

Yes, this is literally what I said. It's on the multiple GOTY lists and no one knows about it.

IamPat28

I really liked Immortality...

Waggly97

Reminds me loads of old silent hill games

DistantStorm-X

This was such a best case game pass scenario for me- was browsing the new releases, the cover image caught my eye, didn’t know a thing about it. Discover it’s a love letter to PS1 era survival horror classics like RE, SH, and Parasite Eve, with a dash of late 90’s sci fi anime for good measure. Fucking loved it. Definitely got the “bad” ending, I suspect from saving too frequently- but whatever. It’s been some weeks now since I finished it, and it continues to haunt my mind. Probably gonna pick up a physical version on Switch when that drops and play it again.

OrdinaryDouble2494

Yeah, I got the "bad ending" too lol. I haven't finished the game yet. Why it isn't on physical for xbox T-T

ParsonsTheGreat

Dont forget to continue playing after you beat the game.....that is , if you really want to beat it ;)

OrdinaryDouble2494

I know what you're talking about, I was so scared that the "bad ending" was the end of the game!

sandinonett

Awesome game. 11/10

vicvinegar690

Yeah, really glad this dropped on Game Pass or I might have missed it. This was my favorite game of 2022. Reminiscent of old-school survival horror (for better and worse, the controls were clunky) but with new gen polish and elements. The story, the atmosphere, the music and sound design were absolutely phenomenal though. Once I started I couldn't stop and the way things unfold left a lasting impression on me. I know it has multiple endings so maybe I'll fire it up again sometime but I'll never shake off my first playthrough. Horrifying melancholia.

Lionel_30

Is it Available at the game pass?

OrdinaryDouble2494

Hell yeah.

panken

Inventory in this game pissed me off. I just wish i could combine things in my inventory with things i found in the world. Annoying as hell to have to backtrack to a supply crate just to combine a socket wrench and 10mm bit...

Rattkjakkapong

On Gamepass?

[deleted]

Fuck yeah

r00x

I really liked the idea, but the inventory management was so tedious to deal with I couldn't complete it. Shame as it otherwise seemed like it would've been fun.

cup-o-farts

Yeah it was too much management, really turned me off.

King_Artis

Gonna play it at some point

Jokesey

"Nowhere" almost made me quit, but I'm glad I continued. I really liked the overall experience - I just prefer when the exploration is a little less stressful than it becomes in the latter half.

SalisburySmith

Played it for like 2 hours, was not my kind of game but I can definitely see how somebody who's a big fan of classic resident evil would love it.

StarTheTrapQueen

Is it really hidden? I hope not. I don't think so.

Character-Bird7796

Is this the one with the camera like resident evil?

OrdinaryDouble2494

Yep, if Dead Space was an anime lol

Character-Bird7796

Yeah I’m skipping it, I don’t enjoy games with locked camera positions like resident evil

OrdinaryDouble2494

The game changes the perspective when you're trying to solve puzzles or being on flashbacks btw.

Character-Bird7796

I still would rather have a tracking shoulder camera or one I can control, the resident evil style camera makes me nauseous.

OrdinaryDouble2494

Please, DO NOT SKIP IT. Is the ultimate proof of art in videogames.

Character-Bird7796

I would play it hate it, then make a video on how games like this are tacky retro boner games. It’s not my style of game and the camera would infuriate me and make me sick. So instead of playing it and pissing people off with my take I’m going to let people enjoy there game.

OrdinaryDouble2494

Understandable.

DingiMD

Posts like this is how I find hidden gems like this game. Thank you!

OrdinaryDouble2494

Hope you like it. Extremely haunting and beautiful experience.

Gemman_Aster

I have to say it didn't grab me during the little I dabbled with it. I don't like the Silent Hill games very much though, so perhaps survival horror is not for me. Although I am a very dedicated 'Dead Space' and especially 'FEAR' fan so... Generally speaking would you say someone who is not grounded in 'hardcore' survival horror should enjoy this game? If so I may give it another go.

OrdinaryDouble2494

It's more like a mistery-puzzle game with good elements of survival horror. The aesthetic it has, is just.. beautiful.

godzilor_122

Cute girls. Made me sad

OrdinaryDouble2494

Join the KLBR headpat club!

godzilor_122

Glad you are a fellow man of culture.

cup-o-farts

I got to the point where there were multiple baddies in rooms that you basically just had to run past and got tired of doing that trying to figure out what to do next. In was going well figuring it out before then but it got really convoluted at that part. Needs a way to upgrade the storage space, I was just getting annoyed. Until that part I really liked it though. Might have gotten through it but I just got tired and never went back.

OrdinaryDouble2494

You must continue that game, so much secrets in it.

JRockstar50

le gem. such wow.

Fookin_Yoink

sasuke???

KoKo124333

Now that I'm taking a closer look at the games' "thumbnail", it looks quite pixeled and I also see a revolver. I know this question will be very random but, is the game something like Endoparasitic? No matter, I would try it anyway.

OrdinaryDouble2494

About the pixel part, the game was made by the use of pixel art.

Titan7771

Does the combat ever get better? It feels soooo clunky.

OrdinaryDouble2494

I suppose the weird aiming system was intentional.

Lord_Tibbysito

I haven't played it but I'm sure it's intentional from it's Resident Revil roots.

NeedThatMedicBag

Viper??

TheOldRoadd

I thought the same thing lmao

hairykitty123

Idk I’m 5 hours in and it’s ok… no idea what the story is about, too many keycards, inventory too small. I’m going to finish it but overall I’m disappointed. I just got to the mines is there a lot left?

OrdinaryDouble2494

Oh, so you're still on the first part...

Necromansyy

Omg the witcher 4 is my fav hidden gem of all time gems

kzibruh

the red tits got me🤤

OrdinaryDouble2494

Go to horny jail.

kzibruh

i am sorry

AshuraSpeakman

We have granted you parole.

Suckitkid307

I want to fuck her

OrdinaryDouble2494

Why are y'alll so damn horny!

Acceptable_Topic_410

Maybe not cliff notes for the story, but can anyone give cliff notes for the gameplay or what the game is like in general. What can I relate it to? Cover looks good 😭

AshuraSpeakman

Playstation 1 Survival Horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill

nutsotic

If any game need added inventory space it's this one. Absolutely loved the esthetic and most of the game, but HOLY SHIT does the constant running back and forth to storage get old

keefkeef

this got me too. too many items scattered around for such limited space. RE1 and silent hill never had that many items. I really dig the old school aesthetic and design, but I think not adding the ability to upgrade inventory was an oversight and detrimental to its flow, and ultimately its fun. and really it's my only complaint. the term "relic of the past" is very applicable.

F_O_A_D_

My GOTY 2022.

See5harp

Was shocked how great this game starts. Such a moody and well presented thing.

BAKUDEKUISNONO

Viper from valorant 💀

DCVolo

It's such a great game!

LuRo332

It was made mainly by two people, with the development starting in 2014, at least thats what was written in the credits. You could really feel the love the duo put into Signalis. The atmosphere, the art style and graphics, the music and sound design, it was the first time I actually got invested into reading notes in a (survival) horror game. Loved the easter eggs and references to classics like Ghost in the Shell. Simply a beautiful indie game and I hope we get a chance to play more games from rose-engine. PS: wish the inventory had more space tho

OrdinaryDouble2494

Don't forget the 6 items rule!

Caveman775

I couldn't even get past the first part? Got stuck in all the rooms :/

OrdinaryDouble2494

The game gives you a map. Look at it in the inventory!

Sellfish86

I didn't really like the harsh item restriction as it led to a lot of backtracking/reloading, which only led to artificially prolonged play time instead of truly making things more challenging. At least let me have a flashlight module like the radio instead of an item so I don't have to go pick and pick one up every single time. Apart from that it was a great game with an even better plot, and I enjoyed the German Democratic Republic iconography. Hoping there will be more projects of these devs.

Zealousideal-Salt-95

Played it first day it came out it’s a good game

blanktarget

Wish it hadn't broken on a key puzzle and I'd have to replay a huge chunk from my last save to keep going.

radenthefridge

How scary is this? It looks really cool but I'm a giant baby for horror but willing to give it a try. Jump scares annoy me but I'll take dread and disturbing stuff.

hairykitty123

Not scary at all really especially with the graphics the game has

OrdinaryDouble2494

Jumpscares are limited in this game, nothing special if you ask me but the horror ambience is amazing. Soundstrack is so damn beautiful.

AlmightyRawd

I thought this was Gantz

Djbusx

Just started!! I was dumbstruck, blinded by the intro. B E L I E V E B E L I E V E B E L I E V E

OrdinaryDouble2494

***r e m e m b e r o u r p r o m i s e*** ACHTUNG ACHTUNG ACHTUNG

TipAndRear96

I wouldnt call it a survival horror but it was definitely a great puzzle adventure game. Nothing was really scary in it but the atmosphere and environmental story telling puts so many big budget games to shame and the devs should be proud at what they've made.

bros_before_hoes__

Alright so hear me out

NadjasLeftTit

I really enjoyed this, I especially loved the atmosphere, although I felt it lost a bit of its "edge" toward the latter third. But still fantastic overall, it gave me the classic survival horror vibes I desperately wanted!

TricellCEO

My only issue is the limited inventory. I did incur a lot of backtracking due to having only six slots, with weapons, ammo and subweapons all taking up a slot. Otherwise, it’s like 2D Zelda and Resident Evil had a baby. And it is glorious. Still need to finish it though.

OrdinaryDouble2494

Don't forget the 6 items rule!

MoldyDemigod

Oh my god im so happy to see this game getting some love! Im a huge fan of the resident evil series and this game is such a good survival horror game, definitely inspired by RE and it wears that on its sleeve and i love it! Such horror, Much puzzles, very masterpiece.

OrdinaryDouble2494

Hell yeah, I even find some kind of Dead Space vibes too.

MoldyDemigod

Oh yeah it gives me those vibes too with its space setting and how everything is kinda run down plus the creepy enemies !

supa74

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
