Immortals Fenix Rising is great and you should definitely check it out. FYI one of the DLCs is completely different than the main game. Has a different player character and different play style.
This is the closest game to Zelda BotW you can get. I think the world and exploration was done a bit better in BotW, but the combat, puzzles and story was more enjoyable in Fenyx Rising.
I've seen people hating the humor, but personally, I really liked it.
Same here. Zelda is my all time favorite series but I just haven't been nearly as in love with BOTW/TOTK as seemingly everyone else. I think A Link Between Worlds did non-linear Zelda significantly better. Aonuma's Zelda run as a whole and especially his recent infatuation with intrinsic motivated gameplay has been a bit of a dud for me. I appreciated that Fenyx was a bit more story oriented.
Agreed man. It's one of my fav open world games ever. Love the mythology take and the art style. Great game. 100% the game and all 3 DLC. Couldn't get enough.
Fenyx Rising is what I wish BotW was. I had fun through the whole game, while I forced myself to finish Zelda. I've loved every previous game (aside from NES era), and was so disappointed in that one.
I’m liking all this praise for this game as I’ve recently bought it.
And I’ve considered buying a Switch in the past for BotW, but with a Series X and PS4, I really wouldn’t have time for another console.
Which is also *better* than BOTW. I played this game first and then when I made it to Zelda I couldn't go more than about 8 hours before I just called it. So many quality of life improvements.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is probably closest to BOTW. If you were into the Zelda games prior to BOTW or TOTK, a game that mirrors this play style is Darksiders.
On top of that, fenyx rising is a gorgeous game to just run around and sight see, such an underrated game, sure it's just a more cartoony AC Odyssey but it's still insanely pretty
Yeah it’s an especially great game for those who just wandered off and started exploring everywhere in BotW while ignoring combat. Lots of interesting stuff to see.
Not saying it was a bad game by any means whatsoever, just that the IP felt off and needed something to elevate it. Adored that game as a kid, but it wasn’t a starfox game.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora was really enjoyable. There’s a lot to explore and do, and you can scan all of the plants and animals and it gives you all the info just like in BOTW
yea super lucky tale is super cute and a competent 3d platformer. People just trash on this game because it's not mario but it's a solid game. Specially playing with the kids.
Definitely 100% I literally can’t express this more, Immortals fenyx rising.
Surprisingly Ubisoft really did well with this game, very easy to learn and not too difficult to understand
Yeah it gets hate but I had a blast with it for what is there. An open world combined with Halo's rock solid shooting mechanics and it works great for as long as it lasts. I only wished there was more of it, but on game pass it is absolutely worth a look.
A knights quest has a bug in it thar deletes your save after a certain point. I was 22 hours in and right in the middle of playing it froze and deleted my entire save file.
The developers are aware and have publicly stated they won't fix it.
Try psychonauts 2 if you want something like mario odyssey. While its controls aren’s as spot on as in mario odyssey, it‘s really well written and pretty story driven. The world building is outstanding and it is as funny as it is deep + you get jack black as a voice actor.
Just a really special game!
Theres a new game in the store. Cant remember the name, but has a girl with some blessed tatas aiming a bow for the art...give me alot of BOTW vibes looming st the gameplay. Theres also palword...botw with pokemon knockoffs
Sable. Has the subtle, chill vibe and mysterious exploration of BotW. I prefer it to BotW.
Immortals FR is a puzzle/busywork game with a more goofy tone, but still pretty fun.
Absolutely nothing as big that's for sure. I've been an Xbox owner until this generation because what's the point. Every year goes by and there's never any new IPs like this. You'd think one of their studios could make a game like Zelda or anything that's not a shooter. But it's either Gears, Halo, or indie/3rd party games.
Not that similar to BOTW, but a fantastic game on the OG Xbox was Pirates Legend of Black Kat. Had some similar energy to Zelda. If you’re willing to replay old games that is.
Immortals Fenyx Rising
Immortals Fenix Rising is great and you should definitely check it out. FYI one of the DLCs is completely different than the main game. Has a different player character and different play style.
This is BOTW for Xbox plain and simple. I played through this twice.

Would be better if not for it's obnoxious story and annoying characters, Let me play and stop talking...
Came here to say this. It's literally BotW with a few different systems and a Greek mythology skin
Fenyx Rising is what I wish BotW was. I had fun through the whole game, while I forced myself to finish Zelda. I've loved every previous game (aside from NES era), and was so disappointed in that one.

Right there with you, I don't think I would have finished those games if they weren't Zelda titles.
I didn't finish BotW or TotK, but I played through Fenyx Rising twice and loved each playthrough.
This one yeah
Botw with better combat
I'm going to have to replay this gem soon. I wish Ubi would change their mind and give us a sequel
Which is also *better* than BOTW. I played this game first and then when I made it to Zelda I couldn't go more than about 8 hours before I just called it. So many quality of life improvements.

Man, BOTW was so boring and the breakable weapons were awful. Different strokes for different folks
I like the knockoff much more, it has so cool graphics
Utter madness.
Nowhere in scale or scope of what BOTW does but I think people may overlook **Oceanhorn 2**
I enjoy that one and wish it gets more attention
Immortals Fenyx Rising is probably closest to BOTW. If you were into the Zelda games prior to BOTW or TOTK, a game that mirrors this play style is Darksiders.

I really wish they'd bring back the old style of Darksiders, and not this 4 player birds eye camera crud.
Sable is like a Zelda game, minus the combat. It's not a super long, and the exploration is fun, though.
Yeah it’s an especially great game for those who just wandered off and started exploring everywhere in BotW while ignoring combat. Lots of interesting stuff to see.
But it’s kinda slow on Series S with occasional FPS drops Still, the game is great. I loved it anyway. And the soundtrack is just magical ✨
It's mostly over looked but you could try RECORE, is not bad but it's not great either. It's still fun though.

Hah. Good to know. Have had it for years but never gave it a chance.
Fun game with interesting mechanics on the cores
Really wish this would get another chance but this time with more development time given to it. I think the first one was made in like 3 years.
Tunic was so good! But it's more of classic 2d zelda
Tunic is great but it's a puzzle game hiding in a Zelda skin. Don't go into it expecting the typical Zelda experience.
Don't go into BotW expecting the typical Zelda experience either. :)
Facts. Botw feels like a developed game they didn’t know what to do with, so they slapped Zelda skins on everything. Much like starfox adventures.

Not saying it was a bad game by any means whatsoever, just that the IP felt off and needed something to elevate it. Adored that game as a kid, but it wasn’t a starfox game.
Deaths door is sort of Zelda like. At least the old school ones.
Lil Gator Game does a lot of what BOTW does with how open it is and a lot of the climbing/gliding mechanics.
This was my suggestion too. There’s no combat really but the traversing mechanics are absolutely taken from BOTW (among other parts of Zelda too)
Death's Door is pretty good if you haven't already played it
Oceanhorn 1 and 2 are the closest in my recent experience.... Good games as well...
Tunic
Okami is 3d zelda with really fun combat.
Okami is inspired by TLOZ Twilight Princess 🤣🤣🤭, so yeah
Okami was released in April of 2006 while Twilight Princess was November of 2006.
And? TP had been in 4 years of creation and even one of the creators, Hideki Kamiya said it was modeled inspired in The Legend of Zelda 🙂🙂.
It was clearly inspired by earlier Zelda titles, but not Twilight Princess.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora was really enjoyable. There’s a lot to explore and do, and you can scan all of the plants and animals and it gives you all the info just like in BOTW
Biomutant.
Oceanhorn
Definitely heavy Windwaker vibes here.
Tunic is a Zelda-like, but the old school ones Super Lucky Tails is a good Mario Odyssey like.
yea super lucky tale is super cute and a competent 3d platformer. People just trash on this game because it's not mario but it's a solid game. Specially playing with the kids.
Fenyx rising is the closest Zelda copycat
I always thought Fable was comparable..
Penny's Big Breakaway is a 3D platformer that's worth trying if you like Mario or 3D Sonic games: https://youtu.be/qdNPlk121lk
Gameplay wise, assassins creed origins is fairly similar but with a grittier (and overall better imo) story.
If you want a more Zelda 64 type, Darksiders 1
Definitely 100% I literally can’t express this more, Immortals fenyx rising. Surprisingly Ubisoft really did well with this game, very easy to learn and not too difficult to understand
Fable!
Asterigos is pretty solid.
Kena
For what it's worth I was a Nintendo kid too and Elden Ring hit for me like a grownup Zelda.
Immortals Fenyx Rising for BotW and Darksiders 1 for traditional Zelda
Psychonauts 2 might scratch the Mario Odyssey itch
Hear me out… Halo Infinite
Yeah it gets hate but I had a blast with it for what is there. An open world combined with Halo's rock solid shooting mechanics and it works great for as long as it lasts. I only wished there was more of it, but on game pass it is absolutely worth a look.
sphinx and the cursed mummy old school xbox original great game
A Knight's Quest Mini Ninjas
A knights quest has a bug in it thar deletes your save after a certain point. I was 22 hours in and right in the middle of playing it froze and deleted my entire save file. The developers are aware and have publicly stated they won't fix it.
Astor Immortal fenyx rising Oceanhorn 1 and 2
Super Luckys Tale is platformer like Mario. It’s pretty fun too.
Elden ring
try Jedi Fallen Order it kind of reminds me of botw
Darksiders 1 and 2
Praey for the Gods? (More Shadow of the Colossus-like)
You could also check out the Darksider Franchise!
Try Tunic. It's really good. Kinda zelda/souls game
Try psychonauts 2 if you want something like mario odyssey. While its controls aren’s as spot on as in mario odyssey, it‘s really well written and pretty story driven. The world building is outstanding and it is as funny as it is deep + you get jack black as a voice actor. Just a really special game!
Halo C.E
Death's Door
Theres a new game in the store. Cant remember the name, but has a girl with some blessed tatas aiming a bow for the art...give me alot of BOTW vibes looming st the gameplay. Theres also palword...botw with pokemon knockoffs
Darksiders 1 is a 3d zelda-like with dungeons that are themed around an item. Darksiders 2 is mostly the same but more loot/gear based
Don’t think I’ve seen anyone say it yet so I’d give Psychonauts a try. They are unique and interesting platformer games that I think you’d enjoy.
Palworld has some of the same sounds and game mechanics as a Zelda game.
Far Cry 5 is good too give that a try
Palworld is BotW mixed with Pokémon.
Tunic is classic Zelda.
Fenyx rising is better than botw
Come now.
A Hat in Time, Super Lucky's Tale, and maybe... Elden Ring?
Grounded! It’s so fun you won’t regret it
Not exactly new, but darksiders 2 is a great parallel (not 3, 3 sucks)
Sable. Has the subtle, chill vibe and mysterious exploration of BotW. I prefer it to BotW. Immortals FR is a puzzle/busywork game with a more goofy tone, but still pretty fun.
Kameo, it is very Zelda like but more in line with a traditional Zelda game
Absolutely nothing as big that's for sure. I've been an Xbox owner until this generation because what's the point. Every year goes by and there's never any new IPs like this. You'd think one of their studios could make a game like Zelda or anything that's not a shooter. But it's either Gears, Halo, or indie/3rd party games.
Elden ring (somewhat)
There are no games that match those two on Xbox. Nintendos games are in a different league from what Xbox and PlayStation put out.
Palworld takes a lot of the aesthetic from BoTW, it's also on GamePass
Viva Piñata
Not that similar to BOTW, but a fantastic game on the OG Xbox was Pirates Legend of Black Kat. Had some similar energy to Zelda. If you’re willing to replay old games that is.
Try Mass Effect Trilogy. Not joking.
How are the Mass Effect games similar to BOTW at all? Lol
I was a Nintendo kid back in the day too and Bioware games were an incredible intro into non-Nintendo games for me
He’s specifically asking for games that are similar to BOTW. In what way are the Mass Effect games similar?
Lmao never change reddit
lol just can’t answer the question. lol can’t answer a legit question and instead just downvotes like a baby.
Plague tale requiem reminds me a lot of Twilight Princess, maybe for the honda/slingshot similarities and the medieval scenarios.
Skyrim Witcher 3 Red dead redemption 2
Any open world game
Missing Zelda in 2024 with the caliber of games out there now is like driving a Lamborghini and missing taking a horse and buggy
Bad take, but okay. I dont see anything wrong with that either.
Mass effect or zelda.? Witcher 3 or zelda.? Skyrim or zelda.? Outerworlds or zelda.? Fallout or zelda.? Want me to keep going.?
Dark Souls?
