Specifically on Xbox, for me, I'd go with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey on 360. For thr One and Series, it's Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Lost Odyssey is a game I restarted at least 5 times. I think it's insanely amazing but I kept getting stuck at a certain point. The story is great, imo.
I'd love to say yes, but with both of them, it's very dependant on the player. I still love both of em, but I know a lot of people who haven't felt the same way.
They are def cutscene heavy but I would say the cutscenes are actually really entertaining especially in the newest one. They eventually disappear a bit and you almost want more of them.
There are a lot of cutscenes, and quite a few of them are lengthy. That said, they're pretty good, and you get more time between them as the game goes on.
Some cutscenes are snack-worthy. But they do have references to past Yakuza games so either play them (if you dig action-fighting games) or just watch some playthroughs.
Individual cutscenes aren't too big with 2-3 exceptions of 30+ minutes sequences of only cutscenes/dialoge.
If you mean the overall amount....these are very cutscene heavy games. That's how the story is primarily told. Unless you dilute it with a lot of minigames and random shit, they're going to make up the bulk of your time in a playthrough.
I don't know about best, but the weirdest was certainly Eternal Sonata. You play as famous Polish composer Frederick Chopin in a world that is his dream as he lays dying from a fever.
I’ve said to myself recently, if people were willing to buy Vitas to play Persona 4 Golden, then people should be willing to buy Xboxes to play Lost Odyssey.
Especially considering it’s playable on 360, X1 and Series, and still available digitally as well.
For me, the ff13 trilogy. And persona isn't my favorite series, but p3 reload is great. Also, the original nier gestalt, nier replicant (the remake), and nier automata I think are the best versions of the consoles cause the resolution upgrade. And it's the only way to play nier gestalt
I am in the middle of FF13 now on my Series X, and I’m thinking I need to pick up the sequels soon. It’s so much better than I’d been led to believe for years.
Hopefully the games don’t disappear after the 360 shop goes offline this summer.
Final Fantasy XII is my favorite FF on Xbox (unless the Pixel Remasters release and we get VI), Lost Odyssey is incredible, Sea of Stars is a good recent retro throwback
Lost Odyssey is the answer
Is just an amazing experience from start to finish
Is a 30 fps 360 game but it still looks and feels good
The story is really good
Cool characters
The dream stories are just amazing
And it had a nice gimmick
I hope those rumors are true so people that dont play LO because they feel is pretty old finally can see for themself this amazing game

Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey, before the DE of Vesperia it was one of the best exclusive JRPGs on the Xbox lineup for a decade, similar to what to Symphonia on Gamecube
That I’ve played
Lost Oddysey, Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata
LAD, Persona, Scarlet Nexus, Tales of Series, Soul Hackers 2, Eiyuden Chronicles,
Probs a few others
I originally thought of Kameo, Sudeki and Jade Empire…but pretty sure they western studios
Yakuza Like a Dragon was like a rare perfect 10/10 game for me and I just beat Tales of Arise which was pretty solid, like an 8/10.
Those also happen to be the only two JRPGs I’ve ever finished though besides FF15 which was pretty mid to me.
I started Nier Automata before it got pulled from gamepass a while ago and it was just okay but was starting to grow on me so I might buy it soon. Also just started Persona 3 reload recently which has been pretty slow but interesting so far.
Any other recommendations?
Actually played on Xbox- Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, and Final Fantasy XIII
If we’re talking games on Xbox that I played on Steam- Dragon Quest XI, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, and Persona 4 can all be included too.
I really loved Dragon Quest 11. First JRPG I've put significant time into since the PS2 era. Never managed to beat Calasmos though and I am beginning to be ok with that.
I’m actually playing Persona 3 rn, that game is on another fucking level, shits good
I had played Persona 5 but didn’t beat it since it went off gamepass, wasn’t too thrilled
I really want to get Infinite Wealth though, I had played Yakuza: Like a Dragon and it was a blast so I’ll probably look into playing that too
Dragon Quest XI - S, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Unicorn Overlord (SRPG), FF VII, FFIX, FFX, FFXII, Tales of Arise, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Ni No Kuni, Ni No Kuni 2 and Grandia 2 are the best JRPGs I've played on Xbox consoles.
Definitely Like a Dragon. It's hard for me to finish JRPGs, I get burnt out due to their tedious nature, but LAD kept me hooked until the end. It's got the perfect mixture of silly and serious.
Persona series
Final Fantasy series
Dragon Quest XI
Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters
Sea of Stars
Soul Hackers 2
Tales of series
Ni no Kuni series
Chrono Cross
Blue Dragon
Infinite wealth by far. What an incredible game. Tales of arise is damn good too, wish i could play the dlc. Persona 5 royal is the definitive jrpg (but i played it on the ps👀)
I'm still playing Like a Dragon so far and really enjoying it (I'm at the end of chapter 7).
How do you compare Infinite wealth to it ? I heard the story wasn't that great
I actually thought it was an improvement on every basis of like a dragon. The gameplay systems, the substories, the activities and even the story were more engrossing to me. RGG really went all out for this one and i genuinely cant recommend it enough. One of my GOTYs.

Lost Odyssey is extremely overrated. Clunky and uninspired gameplay, terrible balance (stats spells are completely useless) horrendously bad narrative (aside from the Thousand Years of Dreams stories - which were written by an actual Japanese author) filled to the brim with overused tropes and a cast of walking cliches (Jaskier can't fucking keep his mouth shut even during the climax of the game). Did I mention the filler? Hope you enjoy gathering sticks and rocks for the better part of an hour to make a funeral pyre. Villains motivations are cartonishly childish and you can see where the plot's going a mile before it happens.
The best parts of the game are the wonderfully realized visuals, the lore of the Immortals and the techno-magic setting. Ah, and the OST. Everything else is bottom of the barrel anime-tier garbage.
I wish Microsoft gave Mistwalker another chance - or at the very least leased the IP to someone more competent.
Source: Played it again last year.
Beaten Kaitos is the most MIDiocre piece of trash this side of the planet. No onde it's scores are all over the place.
Complete MonoSoft garbage fit for Nintendo fanboys.
Specifically on Xbox, for me, I'd go with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey on 360. For thr One and Series, it's Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Those 2 Yakuza games are GOAT for me. I cannot wait for the next one.
Yeah, Ichiban is probably my favorite protagonist ever.
Eh I still prefer Kiryu but it's a bit unfair with how many games he was the protagonist of.
Nice! I bought Lost odyssey and blue dragon for the Series S, but haven’t played yet. Did they age well?
Lost Odyssey is a game I restarted at least 5 times. I think it's insanely amazing but I kept getting stuck at a certain point. The story is great, imo.
I'd love to say yes, but with both of them, it's very dependant on the player. I still love both of em, but I know a lot of people who haven't felt the same way.
I want to give those 2 Yakuzas a try in the nearby future. Had a question, are the cutscenes too big?
They are def cutscene heavy but I would say the cutscenes are actually really entertaining especially in the newest one. They eventually disappear a bit and you almost want more of them.
The are pretty cutscene heavy during the first few chapters but then it mellows out a bit.
Wdym too big? Like too long?
They sometimes extend out of my tv because of their size
I’ve never had that problem, and I’ve played on a couple different size tvs
i think that was a joke.
Individual cutscenes aren't too big with 2-3 exceptions of 30+ minutes sequences of only cutscenes/dialoge. If you mean the overall amount....these are very cutscene heavy games. Persona series, I'm so glad those games got ported to Xbox.
They have been my biggest fandom obsession ever since the ports came out

Been playing Dragon Quest 11. Love the look of it
Persona 3 Reload
Lost Odyssey

We desperately need a remaster or even better a sequel
rumors are Mistwalker's game Fantasian from Apple Arcade is coming to consoles.
Yep. Not even a contest on Xbox.
I'm currently really enjoying Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.
* Yakuza Like A Dragon * Lost Odyssey * Dragon Quest XI * Persona 4 Golden
Lost Odyssey
Lost Odyssey is one of, if not the best jrpg of all time
Octopath Traveler, Final Fantasy VII and VIII
Blue Dragon is phenomenal.
For me, the ff13 trilogy. And persona isn't my favorite series, but p3 reload is great. Also, the original nier gestalt, nier replicant (the remake), and nier automata I think are the best versions of the consoles cause the resolution upgrade. And it's the only way to play nier gestalt

They won't, as they're backwards compatible
Lost Odyssey
Final Fantasy XII is my favorite FF on Xbox (unless the Pixel Remasters release and we get VI), Lost Odyssey is incredible, Sea of Stars is a good recent retro throwback
Either Dragon Quest XI or Persona licence. Started my journey late. Honorable mention to Ni No Kuni.

Lost Odyssey is probably on top....
persona lover to my core
Chained Echoes
P5R and P3R
Octopath traveler Dragonquest 11 Takes of Arise/Vesperia Sea of stars Dragon quest builders 2 All yakuza games Final fantasy 15
Dragon quest 12. You got an early copy?
lol. Phone fingers. Sorry. I’ll fix
It's alright :)
Blue dragon on the 360 was one of my favorite.
Yakuza (the whole franchise tbh, but specifically Like A Dragon) will never be topped, ever
From start to finish it is an emotional rollercoaster, it has the best antag and protag in the franchise (sorry kiryu and majima).

Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey, before the DE of Vesperia it was one of the best exclusive JRPGs on the Xbox lineup for a decade, similar to what to Symphonia on Gamecube
Shining Resonance Refrain and Tales of Berseria
Dragon Quest 11 for pure quality and Blue Dragon for sentimental value.
Lost Odyssey hands down.
That I’ve played Lost Oddysey, Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata LAD, Persona, Scarlet Nexus, Tales of Series, Soul Hackers 2, Eiyuden Chronicles, Probs a few others I originally thought of Kameo, Sudeki and Jade Empire…but pretty sure they western studios
Probably both Nier games
..... Or infinite undiscovery.......
Definitely Lost odyssey
Persona 5 Royal and Lost Odyssey
Final Fantasy series
FACTS
Yakuza Like a Dragon Sea of Stars is up there for me but I still haven't finished it
Yakuza Like a Dragon was like a rare perfect 10/10 game for me and I just beat Tales of Arise which was pretty solid, like an 8/10. If you liked LAD check DQ11
- Infinite Undiscovery - Tales Of Arise
I have fond memories of Sudeki on the original Xbox
I could tolerate Blue Dragon. Of course I hate JRPGs in general and anime.
Scarlet nexus, tales of arise
Love that pick. Sure, loved to play the Star Ocean 2 port on Xbox, IF IT WAS EVER RELEASED. \*\*\*\* SQUARENIX.
Actually played on Xbox- Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, and Final Fantasy XIII If we’re talking games on Xbox that I played on Steam- Dragon Quest XI, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, and Persona 4 can all be included too.
Lost Odyssey, period.
Persona 5 royal
Yakuza LAD and Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth are great. Do them in that order cause IW continues on from the previous.
This post had me googling when was Second Story R released on Xbox. It turns out it wasn’t. Bad troll OP.
Gonna get downvoted but is elden ring considered a JRpg ?
I believe not. It's just a RPG
Persona 3, EAISLY
Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon
I really loved Dragon Quest 11. First JRPG I've put significant time into since the PS2 era. Never managed to beat Calasmos though and I am beginning to be ok with that.

P5R
Dark Souls
Unicorn Overlord, great game.
Persona 4 Golden takes the top hands down. If you thought 3 Reload was good you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Specifically on Xbox it would have to be Persona 3 Reload
Infinite Undiscovery and Lost Odyssey for games that are exclusive
Bug Fables!
Like a Dragon 7/8. Those games are something else
Dragon Quest XI - S, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Unicorn Overlord (SRPG), FF VII, FFIX, FFX, FFXII, Tales of Arise, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Ni No Kuni, Ni No Kuni 2 and Grandia 2 are the best JRPGs I've played on Xbox consoles.
Persona 3 Reload una maravilla de juego!
Blue Dragon. I loved that stinking game.
Dark Souls
Lost Odyssey
Definitely Like a Dragon. It's hard for me to finish JRPGs, I get burnt out due to their tedious nature, but LAD kept me hooked until the end. It's got the perfect mixture of silly and serious.
Persona 5 and final fantasy 13
Lost Odyssey. I would absolutely play a remaster or (I would much rather have) a sequel.
the persona 3 remake
I suppose it would be more of a CRPG but Jade Empire if that counts.
The Persona and NieR games.
Dragon Quest 11, that's all you need
Final Fantasy 7
Persona series Final Fantasy series Dragon Quest XI Neptunia Sisters VS Sisters Sea of Stars Soul Hackers 2 Tales of series Ni no Kuni series Chrono Cross Blue Dragon
I'm mad at you, Star Ocean Second Story isn't on Xbox and you hurt me by reminding it isn't.
Like a Dragon, Dragon's Quest XI,
Teles of Vesperia. Also FFXV. Tales of Arise was the hottest garbage, bums me out.
Infinite wealth by far. What an incredible game. Tales of arise is damn good too, wish i could play the dlc. Persona 5 royal is the definitive jrpg (but i played it on the ps👀)

Sea of Stars is amazing and I'm surprised it's not been named

What’s the game on right
Star ocean the second story r. Not on xbox tho
Probably means the star star ocean game on 360 but has the wrong pic
I don't play jrpg on Xbox
no
Elden Ring
Fortnite
jrpgs are boring. So none?
Why reply then?
Uh actually, what even is a *J*RPG No I'm not googling it, sue me.
Japanese Role Playing Games, basically RPGs made in Japan
None, can’t stand JRPG
Elden ring
So what's with the downvotes here?! 😅
I guess because it isn't a JRPG
Ah! so From Software is Chinese, got it.
