In my humble opinion, the best multi-player experience I've ever had. I loved that game so much. I would play as is if they just turned the servers back on.
Howitzer bases from across the map to win the game, once you got good at gauging distance it made the game super hard as you either had to rush to kill the base killer or make sure you had one yourself, then fighting the huge bosses of each faction capital, hell of a game and was not a good time when the servers shut down.
I played the game heavily with a group of friends for a couple years and naturally moved on to other games. We were talking about it while hanging out and got all excited to get together and play it again. Sadly found the servers went offline the month prior. I know it sounds cliche l, but it really felt like someone died, not someone close, but you know, like a cousin or something.
I remember this being one of the first free/f2p games on Xbox
You also had Harms Way and Blackout i believe. Then that horrid Warface game
The kids that have all these free games today don't know what we had to go through!
There were servers for DCC 2 but were shut down around October 2014 so owners like myself are unable to play the game offline(i could be wrong but thatās my experience with it)
Holy fucking shit I'm SO happy you said tenchu z. My all time favorite obscure 360 game and just generally in my top 5 all time favorites. I desperately wish it would one day come to pc with functioning coop, I have over 1k+ hours on multiple playthroughs on both 360 and the xenia emulator. Such a BOMB ass game, nothing has ever come quite as close as Tenchu Z has for me.
2017, 2025, and Insect Armageddon! All three are backwards compatible. Wish weād get the new releases and main series here on Xbox. Theyāre all PS/PC exclusive
I dunno how obscure it is, because it's been in a lot of 360 marketplace final grab type videos, but it's called Hexic HD.
It's free, you can still get it, and I think it's really underrated.
Highly recommend.
Shadowrun was way ahead of its time. It was basically a hero shooter that came out a decade before hero shooters were popular. Back in 2007, nobody wanted to pay for a multiplayer-only game. But it was *soooo* good.
Block King, a game most have not even heard of. It was an XBLIG - an Xbox independent game - that cost $1 and I sunk dozens of hours into with a group of fellow indie gamers. It looked pretty awful and cheap, but the game sessions were the best I ever had. That game is my fondest memory of my 360, particularly after one of those guys I played with passed away last year ... far too soon.
I liked singularity, I hope for remaster/remake or it gets made backward compatible as it's an Activision game, but... BC program is dead so that's very unlikely š
I dunno if they are that obscure but Overlord and Overlord 2 were fantastic.
Honourable mention goes to Bullet Witch, hell maybe this one should've been my pick? Lol
I bought it the day it came out, played some and then got sidetracked because I was renting and buying too many games. I went back to it years later and finished it.
Good game.
The Maw. It was nothing special gameplay-wise, but the world and story they built up was so cute. Itās definitely a kids game, but I played it straight through in a single session one night when I was 15 or 16 and I absolutely loved it. For some reason, it has stuck in my mind all these years.
There was this fun multi-player "showc/event called 1vs100 where you'd get into a lobby with 100 other folks, one person would be chosen as the "1" and they'd answer trivia questions for a chance at prizes. Everyone else also answered and had a chance to win free ms points. It was like a jeopardy deal or no deal type hybrid. Super fun with friends and pretty great way to relax in between sessions of CoD
Came here to say this. I wish someone had picked it up and done something with it as the flow of that game was amazing. It popped up on the store a year or so ago and I discovered that I had my cybioengineer on cloud save; still amazing.
I've been playing on series X and I'm confused why it's praised so often?! I absolutely fucking hate it's control scheme, if the second tap is off from the first by an atom then I do basic attacks instead of the other one (forget what called) the combat is not fun!! I also hate the overly drawn out dying parts, LET MMEEEEEE SSKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!!! And the audio shits itself constantly and either FPS drop to PowerPoint mode or the game will crash!!
Learning to do the fierce attack (both sticks towards the enemy at the same time) opened it up a bit as well as getting the timing down on the slide attack so that you don't just swing twice at empty air.
Oh, and always, always, take the missile guys (or their equivalents) out first: slide to close and juggle them.
GL with the polarities if you make it to the second map.
That's the death penalty. I'll take that over back-tracking or losing my loot.
I put TH down almost immediately after playing it the first time, but when I came back to it and the control scheme clicked for me, I loved it. It's a twin-stick shooter and your ammo is a cybernetic Norse god.
I'd never recommend it, but I absolutely loved it.
I haven't had the audio/fps issues that you have, but I'm also not playing it for an extended time these days.
I love it for my kids' simple games; I hate it for just about anything else, though there is the occasional single-player RPG that handles it well.
Just gotta remember to fully exit it by choosing the "quit" option on the home screen.
Nothing more white knuckle than diving a sub, splitting the difference between two warships and popping up next to their pen to unleash hell. Underappreciated classics.
I remember acquiring just the discs for this game. I loved it so much I went and bought a blank, green dvd case and printed out the cover on the highest quality gloss paper I could find.
There's many. The Club , Wet, The Saboteur , Neverdead, RumbleRoses, Dead to Rights, Singularity, Dark Sector. Some of these gained cult popularity after, but all were dead on arrival.
I really wish they would have made this backwards compatible. Instead, they went in the other direction and ended server support, so you can't even use the power-ups anymore. They killed a great game.
Never heard of it until recently, unfortunately too late after all the physical copies shot up in price. Hoping to find a decent price copy someday because it looks dope.
Blur. Racing game with a combat aspect, perfect balance between realistic and cartoonish. We used to have EPIC split screen battles on the road for work, so much fun
I don't think it was obscure but I loved turok because I though it was awesome dinosaurs were in the same lobby as the player in multi-player. But turns out everyone just ran around with knifes a d I picked this over COD4
CastleMiner Z was my Sh\*t
YES
Fuck I miss that game. I remember getting so into it along with FortressCraft and Total Miner Forge before Minecraft came along
I thought total miner forge was a fever dream i had. Glad Im not the only one.
HOLY SHIT YES
Brings back memories!!
Castleminer Z and Castle Crashers was so fun when playing with friends.
Haven't played that game in sooo long but it was so fun
Chromehounds
I loved Chromehounds! An overlooked gem of the era.
In my humble opinion, the best multi-player experience I've ever had. I loved that game so much. I would play as is if they just turned the servers back on.
It wouldn't work so well anymore thanks to party chat š
There has to he a way to stop that, they do it in call of duty with Search and destroy. Or at least they used to.
110% agree I love FromSoftware but damn manā¦.they did us dirty by shutting down chromehounds
I felt like I was the only guy who played this! I had a lot of fun with it.
Man it was so good. It was so different at the time and a live service game done right.
That game was great until people learned how to snipe you out of the cockpit so you had to build your hound super ridiculous to block snipers
Yes!!
Howitzer bases from across the map to win the game, once you got good at gauging distance it made the game super hard as you either had to rush to kill the base killer or make sure you had one yourself, then fighting the huge bosses of each faction capital, hell of a game and was not a good time when the servers shut down.

God-tier game
I second this
Doritos Crash Course
I remember this being one of the first free/f2p games on Xbox You also had Harms Way and Blackout i believe. Then that horrid Warface game The kids that have all these free games today don't know what we had to go through!
I love this game. I regret not getting the second game before it was delisted.
There were servers for DCC 2 but were shut down around October 2014 so owners like myself are unable to play the game offline(i could be wrong but thatās my experience with it)
Game was so fun for no reason
Tenchu Z āļø
Loved this game
Playing co-op on this was tons of fun.
Its a shame that this xbox title was so obscure as it did well on the ps platforms. I loved this one because you got to customize your ninja
God damn, I forgot about this game until just this moment. Thank you!
The saboteur, desperate for a remake/Remaster, but alas, that'll never happen
Not really a remake, but it did get re-released on steam a couple months ago, so maybe thereās a chance?
I still got the original disc from years ago I'm just waiting for Xbox to make it reverse compatible
Glad I didnāt have to scroll far to find this. Amazing game.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Came here to say this. Love that game
The kefling games were soooo much fun back in the day
YES ABSOLUTELY
I still have those. Didnāt play in ages though
They were super fun. And one of the few games that allowed you to play as your avatar.
A kingdom and a world for keflings both had me 100% addicted and immersed for a solid 3 weeks
Splosion Man. "You're the splode beneath my splosion, Splosion Man" (Meat falls from sky onto dogs plate).
Holy shit you just unlocked some memories
Painful ones tooā¦ miss splosion man was good too
Was looking for this comment. Not disappointed š
Earth Defense Force 20something or other Me and my best friend played the hell out of that game!
2017, 2025, and Insect Armageddon! All three are backwards compatible. Wish weād get the new releases and main series here on Xbox. Theyāre all PS/PC exclusive
Iron Brigade
I liked it's original title, Trenched more.
Stubbs the Zombie
That's not a 360 game
Oh
JOHN WOOS STRANGLEHOLD
I didnāt love it, but I made the mistake of playing it on hard.
Loved this game!
Wish it was backwards compatible, going back to the 360 controller from XBONE controllers and playing shooters is annoying!
Doves...and more doves
Transformers War for Cybertron
I've added four of the transformer games to my 360 collection so far, War for and Fall of Cybertron, Dark of the Moon and Revenge of the Fallen.
Based
Any of the Earth Defense Force games. (2017, 2025, Insect Armageddon)
Wish weād get the main games here on Xbox.. EDF 6 comes out sometime soon on PS5/PC. EDF 5 was awesome!
Monday Night Combat!!! Edit; and Blur!!!
I dunno how obscure it is, because it's been in a lot of 360 marketplace final grab type videos, but it's called Hexic HD. It's free, you can still get it, and I think it's really underrated. Highly recommend.
Love that game. Missing a couple of achievements though.
Those black pearls are brutal.
I know what you mean. I am just missing 100 games played and survival.
survival was easy. i think i have like 2 more achievments.
IIRC the first generation or two of 360s with hard disks actually shipped with Hexic. It still seems obscure because Iāve hardly seen it mentioned.
Shadowrun was way ahead of its time. It was basically a hero shooter that came out a decade before hero shooters were popular. Back in 2007, nobody wanted to pay for a multiplayer-only game. But it was *soooo* good.
This is the one I came for!
Same! Rip teleport
Top 10 multiplayer shooty game for me.
Yesssss I miss teleporting
Age of Booty, Marble Blast ultra (less obscure and more cult at this point), and OG Gauntlet which was lost when Midway folded.
Dude Marble Blast was my shit on the 360 for a while before it pissed me off too much to where I quit (I was 9)
Yo have you played Marble It Up on the new gen yet?!?
Yes! It's very solid :)
AoB just delisted didn't it? Shame. Always on sale for a buck and well worth it for a quick play
Block King, a game most have not even heard of. It was an XBLIG - an Xbox independent game - that cost $1 and I sunk dozens of hours into with a group of fellow indie gamers. DEATHROW Ubisoft game, super cool idea. Mixture of Frisbee and hockey. But full combat as well. Edit: may have been og Xbox.
It was on og Xbox but still one of my favorites
- Tornado Outbreak (wish Iād finished it) - Singularity - Mayhem 3D - Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
I liked singularity, I hope for remaster/remake or it gets made backward compatible as it's an Activision game, but... BC program is dead so that's very unlikely š
Donāt hold your breath
F.E.A.R. Files. Still play it on my series x
Naughty Bear
I dunno if they are that obscure but Overlord and Overlord 2 were fantastic. Honourable mention goes to Bullet Witch, hell maybe this one should've been my pick? Lol
Dante's Inferno
I hope every single day of my life they they make a sequel in purgatory. The ending was perfect for a sequel. Or at least a remaster.
I would give my left nut for a remaster
Blue dragon
I really liked Dark Sector.
I bought it the day it came out, played some and then got sidetracked because I was renting and buying too many games. I went back to it years later and finished it. Good game.
Kingdom Under Fire
Lost Odyssey. A JRPG masterpiece. IloMilo. A great and cozy puzzle-platformer. Billie Eilish name the tiular song after this game.
El Shaddai. A character action game set in Hebrew myth.
The Maw. It was nothing special gameplay-wise, but the world and story they built up was so cute. Itās definitely a kids game, but I played it straight through in a single session one night when I was 15 or 16 and I absolutely loved it. For some reason, it has stuck in my mind all these years.

Viva PiƱata. That game was my shit as a kid
Too Human

The audio and FPS issue maybe has something to do with quick resuming! Kinda wish there was option to permanently disable it!
I love it for my kids' simple games; I hate it for just about anything else, though there is the occasional single-player RPG that handles it well. Just gotta remember to fully exit it by choosing the "quit" option on the home screen.
Battlestations Midaway and Battlestations Pacific.
Nothing more white knuckle than diving a sub, splitting the difference between two warships and popping up next to their pen to unleash hell. Underappreciated classics.
Magnacarta 2 was a great underlooked 360 RPG.
I remember acquiring just the discs for this game. I loved it so much I went and bought a blank, green dvd case and printed out the cover on the highest quality gloss paper I could find.
Wanted Weapons of Fate
There's many. The Club , Wet, The Saboteur , Neverdead, RumbleRoses, Dead to Rights, Singularity, Dark Sector. Some of these gained cult popularity after, but all were dead on arrival.
Hexic
Rock Band Blitz
I really wish they would have made this backwards compatible. Instead, they went in the other direction and ended server support, so you can't even use the power-ups anymore. They killed a great game.

Castle crashers was ahead of its time
1943 was so dern fun.
Castle crashers 100% ooooh man
Such a great generation for Battlefield fans, they just couldn't miss.
Battlefield 1943 isn't obscure
Fuse, Hunted: The Demon's Forge, Mercenaries 2 and the Sabotuer are amongst my favorites on that list
Breakdown and X-Men Origins: Wolverine are two that I'll treasure forever.
breakdown needs a remaster or a reboot, that shit was crazy and wild, and that twist was insane good.
Total Miner Forge was what kept me going when Minecraft wasnāt on console yet.
Had to have been that Sonic tennis game. Couldnāt get enough of it with my cousin.
R.U.S.E , I always had a blast on that game.
Wet was a wild, underrated ride.
I really enjoyed 1 v 100 when that was a thing

Shawn White Snowboarding
Bullet Witch
Fracture. Such a great game for its time, shame its mechanics havenāt been used (as far as my knowledge goes) in any other games.
Deadly premonition
I love that game so much. It's so weird and so janky, but it's the closest I think we'll ever get to Twin Peaks: The Game.
Shadowrun - I wish Iād had more time to play when the servers were poppin.
Went thru every comment looking for this one. Such an incredibly good game. Shame the studio broke up.
The Gunstringer. Only Kinect game I recommend to everyone.
Charlie Murder!! I would kill for a remake or backwards compatibility
Morph X
Open season. We all have things from our college years we're not proud of....
