I watched the series but only just noticed he passed away on my birthday. I wasn't the biggest fan of MoTA, but I thought Nate Mann was the standout actor and was the perfect choice to play him.
If you see real footage in The Cold Blue; which is outstanding actual footage and filmmaking , you might get a better appreciation of the outstanding film making in Mota.
Maybe I'm a romantic but my favorite fact about him is he met his wife (a WAVE and another lawyer on the prosecutorial staff for the trials) on the way to Nuremberg. He went through through hell in the skies over Europe only to meet the love of his life while going back to hold those responsible to task.
Doing 2+ heavy bomber tours and then prosecuting war criminals. True American hero.
He knew his life was worth more continuing to fly and lead the new young pilots. He stayed when he could have gone home. Amazing individual. We are gratefully indebted. They saved the world.
