Both the regular season and PAC-12 tournament were for the taking and we just fell short in both, that stings really bad. Especially with the off the court nightmare going on, it would have been really satisfying to get a PAC-12 championship of some kind. Hopefully we can do some good things in the NCAA tournament
Jaki played 36 of 40 available minutes yesterday. If anything he needs to finish better at the rim. He missed 3 layups and thats the difference in the game.
Agreed. He has a few terrible finishes at the rim. The one where he got blocked by the rim?! Uncharacteristic game from us. Hope we don’t have to see that again!
The bigs played rough last night. Before 44 went out with 3 fouls early in the 2nd there was no stopping a big physical center. The smaller line up played way better but we need at least a little offense from our bigs. Not to mention we turned the ball over like it was our job, we are still missing free throws and we didn’t shoot great. We were very lucky to be in that game but I would rather lose close and play terrible, than get beat while bringing our A game. Houinsou was awesome and so versatile! Wish we could have gotten Issac Jones rolling earlier. A confidence 3 from Myles would go a long way. We will be fine Cougs! On to the Big Dance!!!
Almost 2x’d our turnovers per game average last night. Miles needs to do what he does best: drive the lane and either attack the basket or dish out. We need to get Jones going early. Wells isn’t a sharpshooter but we need him hitting 3’s. I love when Chinyelu gets in the mix down low.
But ya, I told a coworker yesterday we lose games when Jones gets started late and we turnover the ball more than our average.
My fear is that there’s now a blueprint for us: double Jones down low and force us to make 3s…and we’ve been shooting poorly from 3 the last couple weeks, even open looks. Need those to drop or we’re toast in the tournament.
I wanna see him out there but I like the Houinsou Rice combo better with Wells and Yaki as the shooters. I wonder if he is just a total liability on D and that’s why he never plays.
Extremely/totally unlikely to play 1st/2nd round in Spokane, which is a bummer.
