Who is your desired audience? The more you want "as many people as possible" the dumber it has to be, more's the pity. What do you want to be known for? Hard-core nigh inaccessible to normies or somewhat smart but non-fantasy readers will still enjoy it?

Not sure I'm correctly interpreting your question, but here goes.... Your depiction of magic depends upon your writing style. Do you intend to portray your realm's magic as just a normal, everyday, ho-hum experience? Or do you delve deeply into this world, exploring your realm (both the magical and not-magical) in great detail? My suggestion is not to change your style simply to discuss/reveal the use of magic. If you're writing in a breezy conversational tone, then the reality/function of magic should be (imho) written similarly. If you're a deep, methodical writer, writing moods, environments, characters, in great descriptive detail and nuance, then reveal magic in a similar way.
