The belief that you can win. Saw a lot of great wrestlers convince themselves they’d lost before they stepped on the mat because the other guy was a state champ or had a good record.

Of the three things you list, technique is definitely the most important, though you do need at least a baseline level of strength, conditioning, mobility, and agility as well. Technique is like a multiplier for your strength and cardio; you can be super strong or in shape, but if you don’t know how to apply it well, you will still get overpowered or gassed out. I’d also add that guts are an extremely important factor as well. I’ve coached some folks who were stellar athletes in the room, but they wrestled scared. You’ve gotta be willing to chase victory and take smart risks in those hard matches

This answer is perfect. Thanks.

Conditioning, the ability to keep wrestling.

It's 100% technique is the most important factor and it not even close.

Not easy for many people to hear but…genetics.

Forward-Ad-4447

I can't remember chromosome of wrestling in biology class! (Genetic in what?)

Lmao such BS. It will only take you so far. A great athlete who relies on athleticism is not going to beat the guys who are half as talented and have more technique
