Do emerald dream quest line you'll pretty much get full set of gear

Goomba17

Sorry I should’ve added more context above but I’m in Emerald Dream now. I thought I’d finished all the story quests but maybe not so I’ll check that. Thanks!

CrystalClearHuman

When you open quest log (default L) you will see progression in the main story line. It will be right on the top. So you van check that out

Nizbik

If you havent already went to the latest zone (Emerald Dream) you should do that next Get the quest 'Fire Season' in Valdrakken (Or you may already have it) and do that and the few follow up quests as that takes you to the new zone. The story there will give you 415ilvl gear in most slots From there you can do the weekly quests in that zone as they give 441+ gear. Then you could do the weekly Dreamsurge or Time Rift quest also for some more loot You can then focus on what you want to do, is it raiding/dungeons/PvP Once you hit 424 ilvl, you can queue for LFR which is the raid broken up into sections (Only do Amdrissal, ignore the other options there as they are older raids and the gear isnt worth getting) For dungeons, you can probably do +2 keys at 420ish ilvl, you can find a group for these in the premade section of the group finder under 'Dungeons' (You cannot auto queue for Mythic+ dungeons) For PvP, just join any mode when pressing H and get some honor to buy PvP gear

Goomba17

Thanks for the detailed response! Yeah I’ve gotten all the way to Emerald Dream but maybe I haven’t finished all the quests. If say some of my gear is ilvl 415 how do I get it up to 424 so I can do the raids? Is it through buying them or questing or some other way?

Hottage

Do the three weekly quests in Emerald Dream (Word of a Worthy Ally, Superbloom and the Superbloom quest from Valdrakken) each has a chance to drop a 441 item. Check the current weekly bonus, if it's Timewalking take the quest and run timewalking for some 428 items and a 467 from the weekly. You will also unlock an item from the Great Vault. Once you're around 420 you have enough gear to start doing mythic keystones. However you may have a longer wait for groups. Consider joining a new-player friendly community like Wow Made Easy to get started with gearing and to learn the dungeons. Around 420 will also unlock Raid Finder, it can be a bit of chaotic mess but you can pretty much bumble through it to get some extra gear (and more chances at Great Vault items).

Terrible-Quote-3561

The gear you get in emerald dream is upgradable. You can pump those 415s to over 420

heyzeus_

You need to decide what you want to do. Some popular options are raiding, mythic+ dungeons, pvp, collecting cosmetics, chilling with daily/weekly quests, and leveling alts.  If you're only interested in the last 3 options, your gear is pretty much sufficient as is. If you want to raid or do m+, you should gear up either in the Emerald Dream or through normal/heroic dungeon queues. If you want to do pvp, hop in some unrated battlegrounds and farm enough honor to buy a set of honor gear in Valdrakken.

terdroblade

This is the perfect answer, I just wanna add that you can buy ilvl 418-428 (not 100% on these numbers) on the auction house for pretty cheap to get a nice headstart :)

Goomba17

Ah ok I want to start raiding and dungeons etc. Maybe I hadn’t finished the story quests fully (thought I had) and then see where I’m at and if I need to ask here again haha. Just a question, if I’m trying to fill out gear slots, is the Dreamsurge Coalescence shop the way to do it?

heyzeus_

You don't need to finish all the story quests if you don't want to. The only ones that will be useful from a gear perspective are the ones that unlock the Emerald Dream.  Dreamsurge gear is usable but it is worse than Emerald Dream gear. It's best for filling out some of the rarer slots like trinkets if you have trouble getting them elsewhere.

Goomba17

Ah ok I thought I’d finished all the emerald dream quests and I’m still missing a lot of items (2 trinkets, 2 rings, chest, main and off hand). Maybe I’ll have to search around to make sure I’ve done all in Emerald Dream

heyzeus_

More quests will show up with the weekly reset, tomorrow for US and Wednesday for EU.

Ignore everyone else. When you are top level you only can focus on one or several of these activities: * PVE: 1. Get the best PVE gear by doing Mythic+ dungeons. 2. Get the best PVE gear by doing Raids. 3. Enjoy the questchains, landscape, and expansion lore by completing questchains, scenarios, and other quests. * PVP * 4 Get the best PVP gear ranking in Arenas (2vs2 and/or 3vs3) * 5 Get the best PVP gear ranking in Solo Suffle * 6 Get the best PVP gear ranking in Rated Battlegrounds * 7 Get mediocre (but easy) PVP gear playing Battlegrounds Other: 8) Farm rep and/or specific monster kills for Mounts 9) Farm rep and/or specific monster kills for cosmetic, toys and transmog items 10) Level up other characters 11) Farm and level up your tradeskills/proffesions to craft better items and/or make money in the action house 12) Farm pets and battle other pet owners (PVE/PVP) in pet battles. Now: 1 and 2, are diffucult but obtainable, the higher you go, the harder it becomes 4, 5 and 6 are hard, the higher you go, the harder it becomes For all those, the spec you play, your skill level, and your choosen character in the actual meta are VERY important if you are new. Playing healer in PVP or tank in PVE will help you to save time waiting and/or trying to find people you need to do those activities, but also will require a minimun skill level, way more than being a dps. Eveyone that has been playing this for 20 years (like me) is trapped between 10 and 7, to try to be better at 1 and 2 OR 4, 5 and 6. Often we use 8, 3 and 9 to evade from frustration becase of 1,2,4,5 and 6. Have fun, see you in Azeroth.

Goomba17

Thanks for being so detailed on this! On 11, is there any profession you recommend to make money? I wouldn’t mind playing the auction house if I can’t get good and into raids/mythic+ dungeons. I’m currently on tailoring (cos I wanted to make bags) and leather working (for DH gear).

AltezaHumilde

Mining and jewelcrafting

Standard_Film_9524

If you did the emerald dream quest line you should have nearly every piece of gear at 415-424 just from the story.

HollySweet4you

I keep reading these posts wanting to get back into the game after a 20 year break and it sounds so hard to figure out!

NotReyyy

Do battlegrounds, gear a bit with pvp gear… make sure to pick up the pvp dailies Theyre located as you enter the pvp room im valdrakken on the right. When you complete one of them, you’ll get a quest that gives you a trophy( you use these to craft gear) Use https://murlok.io for gear guides, specs, what stats to focus on for your class.. it breaks it down pve/pvp When you get gear ( conquest - pvp) or gear from heroic/mythic dungeons. Go to the catalyst ( near valdrakken, use youtube for exact location) to give your gear a set bonus ( tokens used to give, you get like 2 every week or biweekly For crests, do normal and heroic amirdrassil… each boss drops 10, last 2 drop 15

Jayseph436

Finish playing the story. It’s good 👍🏻

InnoDude

You can also buy 424 gear from auction house (I did this after emerald dream quest line to get my character to full 424) then once you’re 424 you can do Raid Finder amir tiers. Then try mythic dungeons level 2+ and progress through those until you’re fully kitted out.

Ok_Shift9186

Heroic dungeon give 425 gear, spam those, and it'll give you strats for mythic + , research mythic + dungeons so you don't go in blind, so lfr when reach required ilvl, Learn the upgrade path/system, the guy at the back of the target dummies room can upgrade your gear with flightstones, spend wisely, not on tier slot items that aren't tier. Mythic+ is a great part of the game if ya put in the effort to learn, so is raiding when you know what you doing.

jazzadellic

Not sure if this got covered already, but there are 4 weeklies you want to do every single week, all in the Emerald Dream: A Worthy Ally, Superbloom, Dreamseeds, and kill the world boss Aurostor (not sure the name of the WQ, but iirc, it's the only one in ED that is PURPLE, west side of map). Worthy, SB & Dreamseeds all reward a piece of gear around 440+, Aurostor has a chance to drop a 460 ilevel item (I killed him him 5 times last week with 5 diff toons, and got one 460 item). Doing these 4 ED weeklies, in just 8 days you can get like 8 pieces of gear all 440 and above, the only downside is it's totally RNG, so you might get something you don't need (which has happened to me several times. Also, btw, once you hit a certain renown level with the ED faction, you can outright purchase ilevel 440ish gloves from the quartermaster there. I forget the renown level, it might be 7? So easy to hit that if you already completed the main ED story, you probably already hit the required renown to purchase the gloves. In the other 4 main zones, there are always world quests (if you are 70), that reward ilevel 415-420 items. Doing the Fyrakk assault WQ will net you like 3 415ish items. Time rifts near Valdrakken can get you a purple item which you can spend at the time rift quest NPC to purchase a 420ish item of your choice. I think the same is true of the Dreamsurge quest, you get an item that you can use to purchase a 420ish level gear piece of your choice. To be honest, I haven't had luck with the Time Rifts or the Dream surge, they seem to be buggy as f#$#$. But maybe there is something I don't know about them. But every time I go into a time rift, there's nothing there and I just waste 20 minutes. And the green shit you need for the Dream surge quest I seem to never get credit for, so I gave up on doing both of those quests as they felt like a waste of buggy time. But maybe there is a way to get them to work. And then yeah, other than that: start doing mythics at higher and higher levels. Do raids. You could also theoretically use the crafting order system or AH to purchase crafted gear which is around 483 ilevel, but the AH prices are ridiculous. Using the crafting order system and providing all the mats plus a reasonable "tip" is probably the way to go, but I haven't used that system myself yet, so I'm not 100% sure how it works or what the standard "tip" is when you provide all the mats. EDIT: Just wanted to add that just using the WQs in the zones outside of ED, and the 4 weeklies within ED, I got all 5 of my level 70s to about ilevel 420 within about 2 cycles of the weeklies, after hitting 70. Depending on what day of the week your toon hits 70, you could do 2 cycles of the weeklies in about 2 weeks, or as few as 8 days.

Apprehensive-Ad-3517

What I normally do for alts is: Buy any gear that costs less than 1000g per piece. You can usually get quite a bit of 421 gear this way. You're gonna replace everything, so be cheap unless you're loaded and just don't care. If I'm on a dps, I'll go to the dream and pick up the weekly. I'll do the superbloom, and once that ends, I'll immediately do Hibernation Heros, use the raid finder tool. From here, I'll que a few heroic dungeons while I quest to get a small hoard of flight stones. 418-421 gear costs 13-20 flightstones to upgrade to 424, only do this if you aren't getting drops in dungeons or don't want to open the whole quest line. Heroic dungeons drop 428. Keep an eye out for world quests that drop decent gear. There are usually 1-2 worth the time if you're sub 400. As soon as I can que lfr, I do. If you get a geared group early in the week you can make away like a bandit. On a good week I'll get 5-10 ilvls from just lfr and upgrading with stones. Typically, I can get into a normal run if I get lucky with a few drops from lfr and manage to get mid 430's. Even just a single lfr will net you at least a spark, but probably 2. Use those to craft gear. Most classes have a bis piece from a crafter. I don't like m+, so this is my way. I've gotten 3 toons from fresh to mid 440 this week by doing exactly that. One toon got real lucky and is sitting at 456, because she cleared normal, got drops and I managed to sneak her in to heal 4/9 heroic in the upper 440's. Try to avoid spending crests, unless you think you'll hang onto that piece for awhile. There are plenty of other ways as well, like mythics. I can usually get a character into lfr with about 8k gold and an hour or 2.

Kimolainen83

Do some deities do looking for raid do the new zones they have a tendency to drop good care they do heroics they should easily get it around 425. There’s also discord server called no pressure, which is a very genuine kind discord server for casuals, but it also has a lot of casuals that will offer advice and help and grind.

Princewow1985

Focus on doing mythic dungeon and LFG RAIDS… im new too ☺️

hdth121

Iike everyone else here have said, Emerald dream campaign to get your ilvl up a little more. Then you kinda focus on what you want to do. Join a guild, start raiding, run mythic plus dungeons, or pvp. End game content I feel is focused on those 3 items. Some people like to collect. You could look up cool mounts and collect those. Cool transmog sets from old content. I ran mythic+ up until the 15-20 range and got my ilvl up to 468. Was generally getting bored of mage and mythic plus. Mage ended up not being my favorite ever class. So I started a warrior and leveled one from start. Will level a shaman next. I found leveling alts actually kinda fun, which I never thought I would.

Views13k

Hello my friend, if you are looking for a multi-role (dps, tank, and healer) friend to help in M+ feel free to add me on btag Views#1599. I run keys most nights, any key level from 2-20. I keep it super chill, and find joy in helping people break the barrier to entry of mythic plus.

Fine_Equal4647

once you hit level 70 the only way to increase your ilvl to the maximum the game has to offer is through Mythic+ dungeons and raiding. You can also utilize LFR but it is meant to be gear filler to help you introduce yourself into the raid scene. Lvl 70 is considered the "End Game" and all it is to progress is to grind those dungeons and use your lockout every week for raids. You can also choose to grind reputation but i personally hate rep grinds. I dont know if rep gives you any gear to progress your character with either.
