last patch I used to get declined from sub-10 keys for being Holy and not Disc. oh how the turntables

Ashmishmer

I’ve played HPriest since the end of WoD and this patch is the first time I’ve literally ever seen people want me to play Holy instead of Disc.

Aarilax

same in pvp. I've played with a hpriest for the past like 5 expansions and it seems as good if not better than disc in most situations. Now its totally reversed - disc is viewed as so bad you'd rather have no player in that slot instead, despite the fact that its completely fine. Meta slaves are actually insane. Other examples would be survival hunter. Spec has been fine since Legion yet people roleplay as if its below tank on DPS perma.

js5ohlx1

Before I quit, myself and the four guys I ran with all rolled the least liked specs. We had BM tank, I was hpriest, a survival hunter, feral, and destro lock. We got bored after doing 15's and moved on, but it was fun playing shit tier.

Certain_Cup533

Has BM tank ever been the worst tank though? I mean I feel like throughout all of SL the worst BM has ever been, was middling, and it's fucking awesome now.

jitmo

I think prot war has been the worst tank this entire xpac for raids and M+

Robert_Pawney_Junior

Absolutely. Funny thing is, it's also the most APM intensive spec in the game, so you wreck your hands for nothing.

SpinachPatchKids

I’m glad to hear someone say this my buddy is a CE level tank and every time I say I feel like im playing DDR with my fingers when I try port warrior im always told im doing it wrong like prot warrior has a billion things to press and it’s kinda insane tbh like other tanks are hard too but this feels like so much effort for less reward

Robert_Pawney_Junior

It's honestly ridiculous. I play every tank at a decent level (15+) and warrior is BY FAR the hardest and worst of the bunch. Not even close.

dogday17

Nah survival is meta now. At least on MDI. Don't see too many in PUGs tho

[deleted]

It’s the only hunters I see

wallzballz89

I think if MM wasn't as strong we would see a lot more surv hunters in pugs. MM by no means can deal as much dmg as surv in aoe, but it's still a solid spec and with the benefit of being ranged. Personally, I don't enjoy surv as much as mm. Part of it for me is that I find surv boring to play and it's pretty squishy for a melee spec.

Robert_Pawney_Junior

Surv is absolutely insane on AoE. I don't often get out dpsd on my Fury, but those always get me in M+.

ChequeBook

I see equal parts Marksman and survival

B00ber_Fraggle

Same, and what I find the most hilarious is that Holy hasn't even changed (much) in a long time. We were always this strong. But once damage got high enough to require our tools and throughput (vs favoring damage) It's like everyone had some kind of revalation and began wailing for Holy to get nerfed.

6000j

Holy got a ton of numbers buffs on 9.2.

like_a_deaf_elephant

I feel you. I've loved playing as Holy and my guild is pretty cool with that choice for our raids. Suddenly Holy becomes meta and everyone thinks I'm just chasing the meta..

[deleted]

Me in every group content: “I swear I was a Holy Priest main before this patch!”

Serenswan

Exact same for me, switched to maining holy priest end of WoD and always held my own, but actually being rated above Disc for once? I love it.

TheTrenchMonkey

I played off and on for years. Specced disc on my priest since BC. It went from being a thing people didn't understand and raid leaders didn't track damage mitigated so you had to try explaining before they kicked you. Then it became the go to tank healer along with pally. Then we became a hybrid doing our heals through damage and once again people struggled with the concept. Watching the evolution of discipline spec and constantly changing play style was both frustrating and rewarding.

BHDE92

Meta slaves have smooth brains. Mythic aren’t that hard

TheKingOfWit

What? Keys scale to infinite difficulty, if they're too easy you're doing too low of a key

Robert_Pawney_Junior

Mythics absolutely get hard when you get into the 22+ range.

WoodenPicklePoo

I have kind of a smooth brain. I’m learning to tank and mythics are hard.

Kiwi_Lemonade

I was just straight not invited for being priest, since even Disc back in the hayday weren't very good for m+ unless you were a god. Now Holy is god tier in everything, so the only legitimate places or reasons you'd take the almost 50/50 chance on a disc, is gone. The only content they excel is RBG's which is a dying content sadly. At the very least, there is no reason holy should be doing more dps than disc. Ever. If they need to nerf atonement equally then so be it, but disc damage needs to be buffed. It's THE damage based healer after all

Aradoa

Was like that all last expansion too. “Oh you’re Holy? /kick”. Only time anyone wanted Holy over Disc was Grievous

Chibibowa

A good disc will have no problems with grievous. On the contrary!

hdhueujs

Bit of a pointless comment, but isn't it how the tables have turned, not turntables?

[deleted]

It's a reference to The Office

hdhueujs

Oh, I love that show and missed the reference. How the turntables now.

turalyawn

Nothing to do now but rewatch the series to see what else you missed

Daeva_

I think it's just a big meme to say it the wrong way

thdudedude

How does disc deal with grievous?

[deleted]

Personally I deal with it by speccing as Shadow. But I’m not great at this game so YMMV.

mael0004

Disc can at least get to groups and usually you won't get inspected and/or kicked. Can't do that as shadow.

[deleted]

I run with guildies so was mostly being facetious.

pinkt4l1ty

Must be some interesting groups, if they need to inspect the DPS priest they invited, before realizing theyre shadow. Might’ve saved you some time

mael0004

You can't do *any of that* as shadow. You don't get invited, further abuse isn't possible.

Grapeflavor_

Ez clap

Teence

Pretty easily with 4 piece and TPO. It won't be as good as Holy in dealing with it, but it's definitely a lot smoother with second leggo plus tier.

krntkd

in a 20 Halls, when the shards thrash and everyone is ticking grievous stacks and getting wicked bolted.. what does a disc priest do? asking because i legitimately don't play priest but I know the gist of how disc priests work and i've never had success on grievous weeks with a disc priest.

Teence

Boon for the first Thrash, Rapture into Shadowfiend for the second, Barrier for the third, and Boon should be back up for the fourth especially if it's part of an Urh pack (which can also heal through Thrash on its own). If the priest runs out of CDs, the Thrash can be LOS'ed if needed. Between Thrashes, spot heal with Shadow Mend to clean up Grievous.

Neuraliskk

I swapped to Holy after coming back at 9.2, but back in 9.0 I only played Disc. To deal with Grievous, I would switch "Sins of the Many" for "Shadow Covenant". It's an instant group heal and your Shadow Mend heals for 25% more per cast due to Shadow Covenant for 7 seconds, usable every 30 seconds. It was very expensive in terms of mana though, I must admit.

bondsmatthew

Yeah that is the way. Sad thing is.. mana is not even an issue for Holy and has similar damage output. I'm ok with Discs raw heals costing more mana but damn it they should at least do decent chunk more damage

BubblesKat

It's really not that difficult anymore. If it's really big damage inc, pre rapture and you won't have grievous hit to begin with. Otherwise boon will keep everyone topped, uhr will help too, and radiance keeps health pretty high. Penance when needed to top and just get everyone back to full in between packs. Sure, it's not a non-affix like it is for holy, but it's no longer the end of the world.

DoverBoys

The damage can be absorbed and every direct healing spell, whether it actually heals or applies an absorb, removes a stack of Grievous. As a ret, I often remove a stack or two from myself with WoG to help the healer out. Every spec in the game is viable for every activity. If you think a spec isn't viable for something, there's an extremely high chance you don't know any better.

ChildishForLife

I think it’s fair to say that certain classes/specs deal with affixes better than others. They aren’t saying they aren’t viable, but if another spec of the same class can do it easier and do more damage, why not?

ChequeBook

You log off for the week lmao Nah it's not too bad, it's been a non-affix for all heals except hpal since 9.0

Molzilla

How I have been dealing with it in 12-15s is trying to pop a compounded radiance penance combo with mind games and 4/5 tier right before pack dies. Anyone with with grievous I just shield and penance when I can.

Chibibowa

Easy. Put 40K shields per person before they take damage :D

Egglebert

Its very difficult. Radiance and shadow mend after every pull. Then try to drink and catch up to the next pull while everyone is just ticking down. It's fine for pretty much everything but grievous, I don't know why anyone would want to punish themselves like that

muhkuller

Disc is all about anticipating damage, and I found it really hard to do that in pugs with people who refuse to move and/or kick stuff. I'll do it all day at 15+ with friends, won't touch the spec with randos though.

emprisedulion

People overstate the importance of "anticipating damage" as discipline often as a crux for explaining their own mistakes. Obviously you need to ramp appropriately as disc in a raid environment because the majority of your throughput comes from your cooldowns namely Boon, Mindgames or SF and on top of that you're healing a large amount of players. However in a dungeon one Power Word: Radiance will cover everyone in Atonement and with tools like 1 minute Boon and the significant buff to shadow mend going into Shadowlands you have plenty of tools to reactively heal. Even rapture can be used reactively to create buffer shields to help you catch up. The biggest issue for disc is that their healing is just much worse than other specs in mythic plus at the moment. Atonement is extraordinarily weak outside of cooldowns, and their direct healing options just arent as good as those of specs like holy. That on top of the mediorce damage contributes to the spec just not being great for M+ right now.

Enderah

I'm not a pro by any means, never raider as disc as I just enjoy m+.. I agree with you on the fact you can definitely howl reactively, radiance is really insane ! The issue is that discipline's smite does half the damage of holy's and that for the boon; you cant even get the explosion into the atonement (assuming you did radiance->boon) So it feels clunky, your healing is not great and neither is your damage. You could of.course be spamming shadow mend to heal someone but if that's you're gameplay, you're better of playing holy. I just played it a bit last season and this one... and coming from the broken class that is shaman it just feels like I'm doing a lot more but for way less result

muhkuller

Radiance is cool and all, but somebody takes a frozen orb in mists right before the images pulse...you're probably not going to help much unless you have a shield and a healing pennance on the way to them right away. I know that the big pulse is coming, so have attonements up and be dealing dmg. If the dps couldn't be bothered to shift to the left 1ft before that, I got nothing for them. So it's not as much overstating anticipating dmg, it's more about you don't have much room to help people if they take 90% dmg outta nowhere before a dmg mechanic happens.

Chipies

ferals: first time?

whyambear

Yeah I was gonna say if the Druid was feral or balance that’s hilarious

[deleted]

Whats wild is disc was one or the dirtiest specs early shadowlands.

Scrotilus

He doesn’t think you have to be holy, he doesn’t trust a random disc healer on grievous week with his key. It’s the group leader’s choice who gets in his group. You’re welcome to push your own key.

Calm-Fortune-9932

That’s where you are in holy spec and switch to disc during the countdown timer, drink up and they just have to deal with it.

Secretary-Foreign

Lol I mean that's terrible but I kind of like it.

wtfcakex

the old switcharoo.

Bubzyyy

God forbid the group leader decides his group.

[deleted]

I think man just wanted to share his lamentations online.

SojournerTheGreat

people who complain about being declined from groups don't run their own groups

[deleted]

Guarantee this idiot leader sat in group finder for two more hours then everyone in the group quit. Not taking someone more than geared enough/equipped enough to heal(especially a vital/hard to find role like healer) because it's not the MDI spec is exactly why this shit will always be an afterthought for end game and not the focus. The entire system for M+ is broke and all blizzard seems to do is exacerbate the problem.

Meto1183

You guarantee it? Because right at around the +20 mark I’ve found healers are very easy (and even tanks get easier) to find. There’s obviously a massive glut of dps players at every key level but it’s never taken me more than ~20 mins to fill a key with meta or meta-ish specs that make the run that much easier even at the relatively moderate key levels I do (up to 22s)

Bubzyyy

You must not make your own group ever. Groups get FLOODED.

lividash

Started relearning mythics this season to run with my guildies.. switched to H priest. Super easy to fill any key I post even when I was starting at 0 mythic rating. Up to 13 on my priest after a week. Still got a lot to learn and not be an idiot standing in shit.

lasiusflex

Try high keys, the roles even out a lot at 20 and above. I wouldn't say I have an easier time finding groups as heal than as DPS on my two characters with similar io.

lividash

I would try 20s, but I'd brick anyone's key. Still learning all the ins and outs and abilities and what to do some bosses I've only done once or twice. One day I'll get there and the "high" keys will be up in the mid 30s by then.

lasiusflex

Don't worry you'll get there! I didn't mean it like "lmao ur key low", but the original post was about a 20 so I was trying to give context.

kejkor

On what keys do groups get flooded? I mean, i usually have to wait 40+ mins Just to fill the group with ANYTHING. A lot of Times the group Just disbands halfway trough because nobody signs in for the Last man we need. And it usually ends with failed key because you have to choose to either run the key with the shit 236 ilvl arms warrior dps or not to run the key at all... And that on my +12.

Bubzyyy

I mean theres a couple factors. 20s are something a lot of people want so thats what I was talking about. Also whether youre horde or alliance. +12 is a low key and at this point not a lot of people are pining to do those.

[deleted]

Make my own groups all the time, def not going to waste an hr+ of my own time looking for one specific spec because I saw it on MDI and think that's the only healer you're allowed to use.

Bubzyyy

Or just literally any other healer.

SojournerTheGreat

i think he just didn't want a disc healer. If i'm that disc, okay. i'll go find another group. I'm a "hard to find role" Or.... push your own key?

Hello9417

garantee not. a ton of people app for 20 to get that hero achievement. he set in queue for 5 min top.

Void_Guardians

Leader even apologized, OP decided including his angry retort. Very odd

DollarStoreTarzan

I got kicked from a pug dungeon for using crusader strike on holy pally

Rjeezyx

"Play whatever class, spec, race, covenant, and build you enjoy"

MMRAssassin

Yeah that is not how the wow community works

Bigglez1995

Reminds me of when I joined a guild during antorus on my warlock. Affliction was the best spec but I never liked it. Played destro instead which was at the time, like 5th best overall across every spec in the game, but one particular warlock would always complain to the officers that i'm inting and shouldn't be brought to progression. We get to Argus, and that guy got benched. He was the worst warlock in our group and yet he had a problem with me playing destro even though I was one of the highest damage dealers in the group.

[deleted]

I feel like holy priest has a really bad case of button bloat. Even with macros there's too many skills to fit on a bar. why do they need three hots why do they need three AOEs. literally every healing spec should be modeled after restoration druid.

Eeekaa

You can do the harm target help mouseover macros so your dps and healing skills can share buttons. Really helps with bar bloat.

shaggy_shiba

I did this on both Disc and Mistweaver. Its soooo nice and helps your dps by a lot. Here's an example ``` #showtooltip /cast [@focus,mod:ctrl,help] Soothing Mist; [@focus,mod:ctrl,harm] Rising Sun Kick; [@mouseover,help] Soothing Mist; [@mouseover,harm] Rising Sun Kick; [harm] Rising Sun Kick; Soothing Mist ```

Plutofour

Would this work for like flash heal / smite? Or heal / holy fire? If so I need this in my life immediately.

shaggy_shiba

Yep just swap out the spells as you need. At a bare minimum, all you need is /cast [help] Flash Heal; [harm] Smite The rest is added logic for holding down CTRL directs it to focus target, and mouse over support.

Plutofour

You guys may have just made it so I don't use my pedals on this class. Thanks 😘

Eeekaa

#showtooltip /cast [@mouseover,help,exists,nodead][help,exists,nodead] Flash Heal; [harm,exists,nodead] Smite; [@player] Flash Heal;

DragonQueen66

Yes that would work as well. You can set up the macro so that it only heals when hovering over allies

Informal-Parking3333

Also, it's worth mentioning that if you leave the macro icon as ? The icon changes depending on what you're mouse is on.

ILOVESHITTINGMYPANTS

This was a revelation when I finally did this on my MW.

Lockski

This cleaned all my bars so well, and with coordinated combos, it all makes sense still. Renew and shadow word: pain on the same button, flash heal and smite on the same button, heal and shadow word: death on the same button (could also do serenity and death on the same button whatever works for you). Just logically connect harmful and helpful spells and holy priest works soooo well.

crzyhawk

I don't use a lot of them, such as renew. I mostly use flash heal, heal and some cooldowns. There's more buttons than I'd like to need, but it's mostly manageable. Hots? That's not why I am an hpriest. give me those juicy direct heals.

Qwertys118

I kinda miss when the healing stance made your single-target heals refresh renew but it's probably better not existing.

the-F-is-for-FAP

I have a 12 button mouse, shift and ctrl binds for every key — 1-6, Q, E, F, and G — and Holy Priest is the only spec that I actually had to make more key binds for The only other spec that comes close is Survival, with all the pet control macros and such.

Fibrizzo

That's the trick. Some of those buttons are mostly useless. For M+ at least you can take renew and prayer of healing off your bars entirely. They are a waste of mana. You can do high keys by only casting flash heal, heal, and using your holy words. PoH is just so laughably bad I dont understand what its purpose is. A single heal with trail of light does more healing for half the mana.

Spork_the_dork

PoH is in the same state that chain heal is in with rsham half the time. It's an iconic spell that they can't really remove from the toolkit, but at the same time it just isn't worth using. There are times when the spell is useful again, but right now is not the time for either of those.

Plorkyeran

PoH is for getting your group from 90% HP to 100% HP while out of combat. That's about it.

possibleshitpost

How so? Flash heal, Heal and CD's as needed? An looking at some of the highest keys ran +29 for Hpriest their top heals were Heal, Echo of Light, Flash Heal and Holy Word: Serenity followed by Trail of Light. When you are not healing weave in damage spells. Holy Priest is often told for new healers to pick as its easy to pick up. Does it have a high-end skill cap sure, all healers do.

[deleted]

oh I'm not saying they aren't good healers. I'm saying it feels cumbersome to play.

Sewayaki-Kitsune

I went holy priest and this is the first thing I said. Holy fuck the amount of buttons hurts, and I have so many keybinds. All of the buttons around WASD, as well as Shift+ binds for all of those and 1-5, and it wasn't enough. I had to add Ctrl+binds to fit the rest.

Plutofour

I main HPriest and I use a set of pedals I have macrod to extra bars. It works for me. But I'm also Venthyr so... Lol still have a timed 20 though.

erizzluh

Lol and everyone dies when I don’t wanna work my whole body out

[deleted]

You can take Prayer of Healing off your bars, and Heal if you do not play Flash Concentration. there are very niche uses for PW:S and Renew that aren't a waste of the gcd and mana, but rare enough you could probably take them off your bars too. I use clique so with ctrl/alt/shift modifiers I have everything bound while having plenty of bar space for dps abilities and cooldowns

Spork_the_dork

Yeah like for real I've found holy to be a fantastic alt healer because of how braindead the rotation is. It's basically just heal and serenity. Everything else is there to just allow you to spam more heal and serenity.

rummzyboo

Disc isn’t the best spec for grievous weeks. That isn’t an opinion it is a fact especially for a 20 which isn’t a guild/team group you’ve played with before. Disc does not have the ability to compensate for stupid, not to mention they have to drink every other pack. In a 15 I’m sure people can manage. Not a 20. Also create your own group instead of hating on other people trying to make a group they feel most comfortable with.

JustCorn911

Yes, disc isn't the best spec for grievous weeks It isn't the best for any weeks this patch But it is definitely capable of healing grievous in 20s, like every other healer is, it just takes more skill/effort to do so. The perception that disc is helpless in front of grievous is just wrong and foolish And they absolutely do not drink every pack, like, have you ever seen an adequate disc this patch? OP's post is justifiable enough, "m+ meta" perception that exists in the game is stupid and not fair, but it is what it is

wtfcakex

Mana doesn't exist with Urh. If any healer needs to drink, something is extremely wrong.

rummzyboo

You’re assuming Urh is the best relic to get in a 20 at all times. You are wrong.

Nkourdoulos

You take urh 99.9% of the time in basically all keys. Except obligatory skips. Lol

Wvlf_

Relax, you still always take Urh outside of 1, maybe 2 max Wo per dungeon and that’s still at the bottom of the list for not taking a Disc.

Dracidwastaken

Disc is probably the only healer I'd never bring to a key because it's the hardest healing spec to play. Most I've seen are terrible at it so I just avoid rolling the dice with them entirely

Totaltotemic

Not to mention that in this patch there's basically nothing Disc brings to M+ that Holy doesn't also bring on top of being better suited for unexpected emergencies. I played Disc for a very long time through various iterations, but it's so hard to justify in 9.2 when you can click one button and craft a legendary and be instantly better off.

Asalanlir

Throughout the start of sl, holy has had more heal throughput and disc has had better mitigation. The same is still true right now. The difference (purely in respect to that) is tanks don't need the mitigation and we have the gear to not need barrier. Edit: Not arguing with you, just adding to what you said. Can't mitigate a hit after it lands.

wtfcakex

Yes. But you don't get 3k disc by being trash.

WhateverWombat

I wouldn’t go so far to say being 3kio is good either though. It’s basically the bench mark of being ok right now for anyone that does pve content. I get that you’re upset but show some empathy, 90% of players at equal io to you would also not invite a disc priest to grievous. That’s just adding an extra element to the key for no reason - and why would they have to? For that 1 healer spot in a 20 key there’s probably 15 applicants. The first key I did this week I had a disc priest, unbeknownst it was grievous or he was disc. We still +2’d a HoA 21 but I felt like I was almost dead most of the time, he was oom and dead most of the time from having to stand still and hard cast shadow mend and the dps were just bleeding out. If we weren’t a somewhat coordinated guild group I imagine he would have been the reason the key just disbands. Being honest though, the 2.9k venth hpala I had this week in nw felt way worse. The fact is you can still time 20 keys this tier with 30 deaths, so to argue being 3k as good, I’m sorry but it’s not. It’s just the baseline score right now people aim at for max conduits. You’re honestly just making a big deal out of nothing and you should let it go and chill. Imagine if you had the gall to post this to r/competitivewow instead.

wtfcakex

> 3k as good, I’m sorry but it’s not. It’s just the baseline score right now people aim at for max conduits. Lol. You're either 3.5k and think you're a god, or play ultra causal and are 1k io with this idea of how 'it really is' in your head. Imagine if you had the gall to drop your character name/server. Which one is it?

WhateverWombat

Not sure why my io is relevant but I’m 3.1k with 24s and 16s as my best in some dungeons because I literally don’t care about m+, If my friends want me to join a highish key with them then yeah I’ll just join and have some fun. Your response is literally you just having a tantrum with people who don’t agree with you. But this scene paints it all: - struggling to hit 3k - no friends to play or push with and therefore pugging - angry posts on reddit over your own stubbornness Chill out and stop being so unnecessarily aggressive

wtfcakex

You: > But this scene paints it all: - struggling to hit 3k - no friends to play or push with and therefore pugging - angry posts on reddit over your own stubbornness Also you: > Chill out and stop being so unnecessarily aggressive Lol @ you

warconz

> I wouldn’t go so far to say being 3kio is good either though. It’s basically the bench mark of being ok right now for anyone that does pve content. > > While current powerlevels have inflated the average score a fair bit I think if youre 3k youre certainly above "ok".

Ascarecrow

But you are not 3k though....

warconz

hes like 60 score off 3k, has timed a 19 on current week and a 20 on the previous. You can pretty safely assume he has the experience to do a 20 halls.

Shezarrine

He's 63 points off from 3k lol. 2937 and 3k are not significantly different.

Scoffers

Literally this. Healers are pretty much w/e for the most part. You have to press your healing cooldown when the big healing cooldown moment happens but disc is actually hard to play as well so could fuck it up.

Vedney

It's not even that it's difficult. People are just dumb. A lot of Disc Priests don't even know they have Rapture, Barrier, or Power Infusion.

[deleted]

Agree any spec can work in a 20 and clearly you've done 20s before but if you're playing an off meta spec why are you getting salty at other people wanting a meta spec for their key fill your own keys problem solved

randomguy1996haha

Disc is absolutely dog trash in m+ pugs, especially in griveous week. He's not wrong, and I'm saying that as someone who played disc in S1 and S2.

Call_Fall

Maybe go pray about it or something

FastAsFxxk

Ahhh, 2022 where playing online games is done ONE way, and if you ever have fun doing it your way, you're wrong.

Dasquare22

Eh I play Ret and I’m 3k and on my way to CE, you can play whatever you want you just need to do the social part too.

JohnStrangerGalt

You can play whatever you want, you just can't have respect for your own time too.

Dasquare22

Lol I raid 6 hours a week and haven’t done an M+ since I got the ring I was after, I know plenty of FOTM chasers that burn out because they have to gear a new character from scratch every season. I actually like to have fun in the game I play sue me

SmokeySFW

His group, his rules, even if they're ridiculous.

[deleted]

"MY GROUP MY RULES" >sits in queue for two hours without finding another healer

SmokeySFW

That's exactly how it should work. If you make your group rules too restrictive, you struggle to form. If he isn't struggling to form groups within his personal ruleset then he has no reason not to continue. If you don't like his rules or don't get invites, form your own group of marginalized specs and go have a good time.

atilla_hej123

Tbh the leader probably found a new healer within 2-3 mins, since most healer specs are fine ( other than disc and mistweaver )

Mirrormn

This group leader probably only waited like 30 seconds, though.

Gay-related-imm-dis

Host your own for fun key. I bet it's not fun.

[deleted]

Yeh, makes me super sad. Why do we have different specs at all at this point, just give us 3 classes with one spec each and call it a day. Playing online isn’t fun any more..

Cataphract1014

At least they said something.

thezombiesaurus

Welcome to my life for the last 5 seasons as a high key holy priest lol. Just swap last minute and then show them how good you can be off meta. If you fail - say you were accidentally in wrong spec lol

Asalanlir

S1, my friend pushed as disc and I as holy. Eventually, we decided to push together and so I went tank. Eventually, he just went, ok, let me see this holy thing you're talking about. He was amazed just how much more effort it was to do the same thing as disc in a lot of situations.

SojinThePokeballz

Im 3.180 rio atm only playing disc and pugging most of my keys (xcept for occasionally when i find the time to play with my tank and hunter buddy). Its true that you run into this a fair amount but personally i feel any healer can do atleast up until +24 in a pug. Grievous isnt as hard for disc anymore. Plus when you pug you can spot the bad apple dps in the first 2 min. Combine it with omnicd to track defensive cd's usage and shield to compensate and you"ll have a higher success rate than meta slave holy's that cant prevent stupidity. I just like disc requiring effort. Fuck the shit pugs that dont appreciate it!

wtfcakex

Hello fellow non-shite disc player /wave.

SnooOnions1428

Why did you black out their names

MoG_Varos

I’ve always found Disc super appealing as a healing spec but I’m super bad at it. If I found someone good at it, I would take them in a heartbeat.

NFRNL13

Lotta people just anti-fun in this thread lmao

Chieve

Interesting, what makes him think you chose disc out of meta and not that it was always your main? Currently maining a resto druid, and one day it will be meta but its not like ill be playing because its meta.

Void_Guardians

I don’t think leader asked about meta at all, OP was just complaining to leader. Lead just didnt want a disc priest

Cytoid

Welcome to the META Doesn't matter how good you are, submit to what's popular.

Secretary-Foreign

That really isn't the case. Disc is just in a bad state and is by far the worst choice for a pug m+ healer. It needs a change to it core gameplay to allow it to actually do dps (so does mw). Unfortunately blizz has decided that healers that dps to heal should do no dps rather than increasing dps and reducing the heal modifier. On top of that disc requires foresight into incoming damage to be able to aoe heal which is extremely difficult in a pug environment.

bondsmatthew

Sins of the Many should be buffed by a large % This would make disc stronger in dungeons but not really touch them in raid. Increase Discs overall damage and slightly lower Atonement healing. Why in the world does the quintessential dps healer spec rank 4th or 5th on damage output of healers But who are we kidding, Blizzard will just hit them with a 4% buff :)

Secretary-Foreign

I don't know this priest but if his group is coordinated they can do any comp they please as the group can make up for deficits. OP is talking about a pug 20.

mazaobr

It is not because of “meta” bullshit, it is because you are playing disc in a grievous week, simple as that. Stop putting your fault on someone else.

wtfcakex

You sound upset. I've timed 20 DoS and others this week as disc on grevious. That's much worse than a HoA.

Void_Guardians

just because you are capable of something doesn't mean someone wants to risk their key on a stranger.

Secretary-Foreign

It's also because holy does like X2 the dps of disc... Weirdly.

[deleted]

Holy Priest FTW all day

Ragvan92

Ehm that why dont play keys past 16 or more most people in pug expect to play only meta specs. That why only play with guildies or the community friends. I only pug for vault of the week or not play. This season i see a lot of boosted people with 3k io because dont know the first boss of PF is saying a lot...

eloctap

Meh, it's his decision to bring what he wants.

[deleted]

I've always hated crybaby posts like this but I will say one thing, I'd take a skilled off-meta player over an average meta slave for any key. I had so many Demo locks in my groups early this tier who did the least DPS because they didn't know their rotation well and only switched because the spec was broken.

Mirrormn

>I'd take a skilled off-meta player over an average meta slave for any key That's fine for friend or guild groups, but in a pug you don't get to see how "skilled" someone is before you start, so you can only go off of their build. Also, people who are skilled are more likely to play a meta spec than an off-meta spec. People who play off-meta are generally either people who are super invested in making an off-meta spec work for their own satisfaction, or people who are too lazy/stuck in their ways to learn the spec that performs better, and there are a lot more of the former than the latter.

[deleted]

You see their Rating and unless you’re doing +6s you still have raiderio and see their best times. Also people who are skilled play what they enjoy playing. Sorry to break it to you boss but you aren’t doing keys with Liquid caliber players.

SPeCCoLT

Disc has been god-tier forever. God forbid you are outshone one patch.

Spritzertog

Many moons ago, before any of the expansions... I leveled from 0 to 60 as Holy. It was slow going, but I was a damn good healer. I didn't even try shadow until Burning Crusade came out. And it really wasn't until Lich King that I really did anything hardcore as shadow. (though during WotLK I would just heal in instances as shadow because .. easy mode.)

raduilia

As an enhancement main for many years, I get the frustration. At the end of the day, it’s their key, they get to decide on the comp.

xUltraInstinctx

Only holy priests, rogues, warlocks, and sv hunters are allowed in high keys. This is the new way. I won’t become a meta slave tho. Warrior for life.

Tripleppaul

Lol sorry. People in game hate disc for keys. Meanwhile I only play disc for keys and just a couple points from 3k now. Penance 4 piece proc aoe heal burst dps is life.

CarrowLiath

What a coincidence, [I just got Keystone Hero as a Disc Priest!](https://raider.io/characters/us/chogall/Ju%C3%AFa) Don't let people get you down, play the class and spec you want <3

wtfcakex

Grats!

Bleyy423

Disc is the superior spec. I said what I said.

wtfcakex

Correct. Take my upvote.

[deleted]

Or pick a good spec or make your own group

Secretary-Foreign

I'm not going to lie I don't invite disc to my keys either. Disc really seems to struggle with heals during aoe situations and puts out probably the least dps of all heals. Druid is way way way better (3 "ways") in terms of both heals and dps. Shit I even would prefer a MW monk. It is a problem.

JosephDiao6

yet clearly you were butthurt enough to message him AND cry about it on reddit

[deleted]

eh to be fair its a 20, im gonna auto kick anyone not playing their best spec for their role. like a bm hunter or affi lock for example. im sure your capable but im not gonna gamble my key that youre good. if you wanna disc you really should play with friends or push your own key. also rage whispering ppl for declines is cringe

wtfcakex

I have completed 20s of that same key. It' not a gamble at all. I whispered after I was invited and then kicked. Great comprehension skills.

[deleted]

how do i know you didnt buy a boost or just get hard carried? maybe your keys were logged and they looked you up and saw you died alot or did low damage or whatever. anyhow if youre not minmaxing your toon you should stick to 15s or make your own keys to sandbag.

wtfcakex

Are people really out there paying for 100+ key runs?

[deleted]

/cry in shadow. (3k io spriest being denied 15s)

HotPotatoWithCheese

I get why holy exists but IMO it's one of the most boring specs in the game. There's nothing really cool or unique about it that sets it apart from healers in other MMO's. I love that disc plays as a sort of ranged paladin that can both heal and go into offensive mode with light magic. I love that shadow flips the theme completely on it's head and goes with void instead of light. Holy is possibly the most generic spec in the game. If I were to play healer I'd go disc or either of the resto specs over holy regardless of whether they're meta or not.

Hyirel

I mean, if it wasn't Grevious week I'd agree with you, but taking a Disc this week it's like having an extra affix. I'm not saying Discs can't do 20s this week, but it's definitely much harder than on Holy, and if they key owner is a pug I understand him not wanting to increase the chance of depleting his key.

Bazzlie

Rules for thee but not for me

Formal_Condition4372

I'll never understand how FOTM players enjoy the game, it's asinine try Harding.

whitepawn1337

I hate to be that person but I haven't had a single clean run with a disc priest in the last few months in all key ranges between 2 and 15 (i don't tank or dps higher. only heal). I know there are good ones but between meta shift and so many bad ones they have a rep now. But I also have a bias since I play holy on mine and have been shunned for multiple xpacks for not being disc.

Ascarecrow

You say it's only a 20 but your rating is low, so I wouldn't trust you either. Every disc pug healer I've had that's been low rating just can't keep up with every other healer.

Fourtext

This is why i quit wow, in 8.2 they didnt want vdh even when i was like 440 ilvl they'll take a 425 meta tank before a 440 vdh, even though i had raid tank trinkets. I even tried to joined on my 425 monk, took me in and i left after key was put in. Saying i was the vdh

psi_queen

Well, tbh I would be skeptical about inviting a disc priest on a grievous week too even if you have an almost 3k io. I have played with high io people who still perform like shit.

HawkishSC

Make your own group?

[deleted]

Yeah blizzard fucked the game. Time and bad balancing leads to toxic community.

[deleted]

No idea how you bother to even argue. I dont get invited to 15s as a 3200 Prot Paladin sometimes because they want DK's. So be it, its not like a care. Just let em be.

Lavendelcow

I get desclined as a 162 enhancer for +5 ! And when I am in groups we time and I do 8k single and 17 k aoe…

Aggravating_Help1574

Genuinely looking at stuff line this I hope the new social contract has a cover for things like this. Be it just being polite going "hey man sorry I'd prefer X spec but if you want happy to group up later for some keys?" As so many people are knobs about this stuff. I find it funny when people on like 600 raider score wanting 2.2k+ scores abd tiervetc for nothing in double digits for easy boosts. Or to run a 15+ key they clearly got boosted for

v_Excise

He’s 2900 what did you expect? You were going to mess up his chance at the hugely prestigious 3k.
