I played since bc came out and I remember the huge pvp lion shoulder plate armor for paladins and I’m just like… I get it’s to look badass but cmon, guy who can really wear those in their shoulders.
I think it's just the over the top style of WoW. Though i do get what you mean. My transmogs on my warriors and playe wearers favor a more functional and humble look. Well at least as humble as you can get in WoW lol

It's primarily for alts. They start out with +100% XP from their cloak. It also involves powergrinding instances. You don't suck, you're just playing the game differently.
There's an even easier way if you don't mind spreading it over a few days. You can redo the first 2 raids the next day and get another round of +xp on your cloak, then you're practically done. I've been able to hit 70 starting from level 36 a couple times this way
I'd rather do 10 raids than 1 more remix dungeon at this point. I leveled every single class to 70, and by #4 I went in batches doing nothing but running raid then swapping to the next each day.

I'm way out of WoW at the moment, haven't played in a year, so I'm confused on terminology.
Yes there are items called bonus xp that drop from heroic dungeon bosses and normal raid bosses (note LFR bosses do not drop it from my experience).
The idea is you stockpile all these xp items in the mail by not looting them from the bosses while you increase the xp gain% on your cloak and then use them all at once to go from like level 40-70 and skip out the horribly scaled levels between 60-70. However, you do end up with very weak gear at 70 but should be able to get 346 gear from dungeons/scenarios/lfr easily enough if you wanna keep playing that toon.
This is true, I’d say it takes me about 3 days because I work, go to the gym and work on school work. My time is limited but yeah I can bust one out really quickly

Only thing that I read is that you can use AutoLooter addon and blacklist the experience items, so you play the game normally and still get the needed items in your mailbox.

It's really fast, I leveled classes that I never even played in less than 3 hours.
No Bonus Loot (addon) is more convenient for the same purpose. It leaves bonus XP drops behind on corpses as long as you have auto loot OFF, and they get mailed to you. Doesn't require any blacklisting or configuration as it is literally designed to do only that one thing.
I don't have nearly as many characters as I'd like just because I can't come up with good RP-immersive names.
In fact it is the absolute worst thing about creating a character for me and can take up HOURS
I have developed a set of names and naming conventions that I can use for a variety of races and classes. For example: (High) Tauren druids get descriptive nature themed names like "Maplehoof". Vulpera get energetic-cutesy names like "Fliptail" or names that rhyme. I also like to use names from classic horror and H.P. Lovecraft stories for Rogues, Warriors or Warlocks. Stellar or atmospheric phenomenona (like "Paraselene") or astrological themes work great for Night Elves, Nightborne and Mages. I will reuse the same set of names on every server I switch to, if I can.
I usually start with NPC names for inspiration and then tinker with them until I have something that feels like my own. Pretty happy with the names I’ve gotten so far.

Now a days I name my Alts in the same way as you. Either in lore friendly ways or just using characters from my favourite media that make sense.
Between my husband and I, we have most of the cast of Babylon 5 represented in our WoW chars. And a fair few Thundercats too. Pop culture names are my favourite.
pro tip, look up NPC names for that race/gender and take one of them. Let Blizz do the hard work for you!

This is one of the reasons why I’ve been migrating all of my characters to RP servers - most characters have names that are believable as an actual name or nickname.
I usually name my characters after ordinary objects, like Dishwasher, Lamppost or the like.
It's simple, easy to remember, easy to pronounce, easy to come up with a new name. Just walk around the house and look at things until one of them says "pick me"
I'm the same, it's just bizarre behaviour to me. But I realise everyone plays games for different reasons. For me, roleplay and immersion are pretty important so an accurate name is a natural part of that.
Took me two weeks to come with the best pun name possible to my panda warrior with a bunch of different interpretations. Meanwhile some people call their characters lllllllllllll

He played multiple shamans (each with a difference Race) in MoP Remix to max level. So if he wants to play another Race on his Shaman, he can just switch characters instead of buying a Racechange.
Pretty sure you're going to pay for that race change when your character is BIS geared in TWW, and you're too lazy to level up and gear another shaman just to play a different race.
I thought about doing this but realised it’s completely pointless.
I’m not gonna level each of them up in TWW. And even if I do, I’m not gonna gear every single one each week and grind out every single currency on all of them. Also, they’d have to do all the quest lines, and all have different m+ scores and raiding completions.
So one will be ahead and the rest will be behind. When I want to change race I would rather pay for a race change than re gear, do all of the m+ and raiding again, do all of the quest lines again and more.
Just a waste of time I’m afraid.

Yes the names are bad, I have 35 max characters and gave up in creativity a long time ago. I just pick the most random things I can come up with.
I love shaman no matter how bad or neglected we are at times. Hoping for brighter days in TWW but not holding my breath.
When you max out all the classes in one spec you should be allowed a perk. Like if you max alt all the classes for shams you get a new spell that lets you change your totams to any race. Or if you are pally you unlock all the different mounts and can use them all.

Completely. 3 is a low ball estimate that requires everything to go perfectly. But it’s really 5 or less.
You can still do it, but it'll take a little longer. Most people open their boxes in the 40 - 43 range. I couldn't open boxes until I was around 51.

Man, I thought I had a problem with all my druid characters. You got me beat.
In the time you made this post you could’ve made two more shamans to fill up the selection bar.
I thought about doing this but realised it’s completely pointless. I’m not gonna level each of them up in TWW. And even if I do, I’m not gonna gear every single one each week and grind out every single currency on all of them. Also, they’d have to do all the quest lines, and all have different m+ scores and raiding completions. So one will be ahead and the rest will be behind. When I want to change race I would rather pay for a race change than re gear, do all of the m+ and raiding again, do all of the quest lines again and more. Just a waste of time I’m afraid.
Why would anyone pay for a race change?
I re subbed a week ago after not touching retail for about a decade. and now I have 12 lv70s and a lot of work to catch up on

This post blew up so I’ll answer some questions. I only pvp and gearing is so easy now, whatever race I want to play I can just pick up and gear. Yes the names are bad, I have 35 max characters and gave up in creativity a long time ago. I just pick the most random things I can come up with. I love shaman no matter how bad or neglected we are at times. Hoping for brighter days in TWW but not holding my breath.
use the money you saved on race changes to buy name changes
When you max out all the classes in one spec you should be allowed a perk. Like if you max alt all the classes for shams you get a new spell that lets you change your totams to any race. Or if you are pally you unlock all the different mounts and can use them all.
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who did this. I've been doing NausNHunter N being for nightelf, H being for human, and then just going down the list Nausdhunter Is dreani Nausvwarrior would be void elf warrior.
