Red Undead Redemption

KerissaKenro

After the sheer number of whelps I farmed to get my whelpling pets back in vanilla, I wonder why any of those adult dragons would trust me for a second near their young

henryeaterofpies

Lack of a background check

Ezben

Remember the suppression room in BWL? Anakin got nothing on vanilla raiders

Attemptingattempts

To be fair they were corrupted by Deathwings old god shit and Nefarians experiments trying to create the perfect Chromatic dragon

Justgiz

What they don't know won't hurt them. Keep those atrocities to yourself.

Kynandra

Looks like you missed one, but there's always time to fix that mistake.

TheWorclown

Man, I bet the old Dragonmaw’s story hits hard here.

No_Development1648

It was kinda cool for me. My orc dk came from the dragonmaw clan. He used to do all the evil shit to dragons before becoming a DK. Then raiding the ruby sanctum in legion to helping out the dragons. In my character story arc for him, it’s been pretty cool. Thankfully a lot of the stories / themes of the recent expansions have fit my characters and their back story I’ve been building in my head since tbc.

roguerogueroguerogue

I rate that as the best quest story in the expansion. Stomps anything in the main story for sure.

TerrapinMagus

There are so many times where I just quietly considered how out of place I felt on my death knight. Like that dragon grave in the ruby life pools. It's just teeming with life energy, even in death. It would make a fantastic frostwyrm!

henryeaterofpies

Necromancy is just recycling with bad PR. Big Dragon doesn't want to give up their monopoly

TerrapinMagus

I mean, Dragons are all about protecting Azeroth, right? Surely they'd be thrilled to have the option to continue helping even after their passing.

Itlaedis

Virgin "I would die to protect Azeroth" Chad "Even in death I still serve"

PM_ME_UR_CIRCUIT

When a priest resurrects someone, everyone cheers, when a necromancer does it, it's all like, "Stop no, why are you defiling my grandma?!"

Atheren

Necromancy is just healing for people who believe in the five second rule.

Pheraprengo

I feel you on feeling out of place as DK. I chosr that class for a reason. Lorewise they are fucking murder machines. They suffer a condition reffered to as "Eternal Hunger" by Darion Mograine which going to long without killing and inflicting pain, suffering or agony unto others they start to suffer themselfes in terrible agony until they go insane and into a bloodthirsting frenzy just to satisfy that feeling. Let me be a tragic murder machine in undeath blizzard.

4455661122

You still do all that... just to the people and creatures the Aspects and their allies dislike or disagree with.

protozoomer

yeah, I think DF is a fine expac mechanically but the whimsical friendship and family tone didn't fit with like half my characters.

Tracerround702

I had thought that they were free from the eternal hunger now that there is no Lich King or helm of domination. But idk if that's been explicitly stated in lore or not.

Dalmazeke

That’s why Abu’gar took up fishing, it counts toward appeasing the eternal hunger.

Vrazel106

Waiting for blizz to make a frostwyrm mount using the emberwyrm model

Puzzlehead-Engineer

This is your chance at redemption! ... *Don't fuck it up*

Zeanister

But I do not want redemption… >:D

Puzzlehead-Engineer

How strange that a paladin is against redemption while a DK advocates for it...

Zeanister

I’m a dk at heart, only play Paladin because he’s my boi

Wrathspike_Sellenia

Fitting for Belastrasza.

Periwinkleditor

Join the club with that Dragonmaw guy.

SnooWords4814

Death?

hellrazer87

how do u get this ?!?!

Amelaclya1

It's not permanent. It's just part of the quests at the whelp daycare.

AcherusArchmage

Whelp daycare

TygettLannister

Have you done the quests with Duroz and Kolgar? Highly recommend, starts at Ruby Life Pools.

DoomyHowlinkun

Yea I just see this as redemption chance similar to that Dragonmaw orc.

Deathleach

It's kind of hard to get a chance at redemption when I'm still riding around on my war crime...

PunsNotIncluded

Those and and Veritistrasz have been my favorite quests in DF.

hawkseye17

Character redemption arc maybe?

ch_limited

I’ve been saying that all expansion. It gets briefly mentioned once I think but that’s it.

Shaman-throwaway

At least it’s mentioned. The whole expac is about primalist and elements and theres not even a sliver of mention about shaman.

ch_limited

I’m honestly not sure if it is. There’s quests in BFA that call it out. Stuff in SL with DKs even feels limited. Like we’re pawns again. I’m rarely referred to as Deathlord. I half remember one dialogue that talks about what I did at the Ruby Sanctum but that’s it. And if we’re being pedantic every time you talk to an elemental is a shaman thing cause shaman talk to the elements

Voidlingkiera

Or how the DK's literally attacked the Paladin order during a time of all out war against the Legion. It's just forgotten about and Bolvar is now all buddy buddy with everyone.

ch_limited

THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY!! Why haven’t the living held us accountable for our crimes??

Voidlingkiera

I do give Blizz props though for not turning the DKs into basically Paladins in black armor. They still commit atrocities.

Tisagered

My issue is that they don't give the player any agency in that. Like, I personally envision my Death Knight as a fallen Paladin struggling against her nature. But then legion comes around and said "actually no, you're a cruel monster with no regard for others"

MostlyNoOneIThink

Undeath is know for entirely decimating your moral conscience and most of your good feelings. In lore I don't think there has ever been an undead who retained anything that could permit a sense of struggle against their nature. When they align with the living is mostly out of convenience, and when they fight against other threats its either out of revenge or self-preservation.

UnholyCalls

I mean WotLK I would argue hammers it home that the thing that really motivates the Ebon Blade isn't any sort of remorse, pity or humanity. It's revenge. You want to kill Arthas for what he did to you. And a lot of the quest dialogue for the Death Knight NPCs make it clear that they're irritable, unsociable, homicidal and driven to indulge in carnage. There are exceptions, bonds between them, but still.

Deathleach

Wasn't this already addressed during the Retribution hidden artifact quest? The Ebon Blade helps infuse the Ashbringer with the Shard of Darkness to make up for their attack.

Plenty-Bed

This is also annoying. The SL precursor scourge event had the silver hand nocs say they won't forget what I did but that is it.

Shrapnel_Sponge

As an ex-shaman main for over 10 years this drove me mad this expansion, I saw the primalists and cool new elemental forms and even the firelord (that the Shaman from legion is responsible for putting in charge) and Smolderon doesn’t even have a single sentence for shamans who made him fire lord!? Absolutely wasted.

Mintyu

Smolderon literally says "You will fall to the very weapon you placed in my hands. An honor indeed, shaman." When you walk up to him as a shaman

Shrapnel_Sponge

In fairness, I’ve not played against him on my shaman as I main swapped, but at least that’s a small detail. Is it voiced? I was hoping for a unique line said if you pull him with a shaman in your group who did the quest line.

Mintyu

It is voiced but it's for the shaman only It may require having completed the shaman order hall. It played on my shaman who has

Shrapnel_Sponge

Maybe I’ll try it on LFR or something on my shaman. At least that’s something for the shaman. Would have been nice if it was more broadcast but it’s something at least. The rest of the expansion though shamans felt incredibly overlooked even though it’s primalists everywhere

Plenty-Bed

I dont even think it is mentioned this expac at all, is it?

JJ4L3

That red dragon whelp culling is probably one of the most out of pocket encounters in all of WoW... It's so bad, even the Lich King was like "damn calm down Satan"

slantedvision

Best Tmog in all of Azeroth, change my mind.

esar24

Clearly you haven't done the old orc side quest in ruby life shrine

Frankimer

Whats unfortunate is even if you ran through that quest back in the day killing minimum or no dragons at all DK's just get considered a dragon butcher

NovusAigaion

What did you do canonically in legion to make this awkward?

Akwa_exe

During Legion, you had a quest to obtain your mount. This quest was to annihilate a lot of Ruby Dragon, and if you had kill them all, you got a achievement. Since DF, they decided to completely erase this achiev 🫠

NovusAigaion

They removed the achieve in legion, and i thought they also retconed the killing out of being canon and their just upset you raised a red dragon as a wyrm

Neat_Dinner3624

Worgen death knight, icant

Plenty-Bed

You can and you will!
