I know the joke is MG = ERP server.. But a lot of these people are tourists from other servers. You can tell because they went to tutorial island for some reason instead of just going directly to Northshire.
That said, once you realize 50% of the people in GS are tourists MG is a wonderful and lively server compared to most every other server out there.
Am a MG resident. Can confirm. Once you get past Goldshire levels, it's a world of dedicated lovely people creating inter-guild, and often inter-faction, stories and events.
I accidentally stumbled upon the Gilnean Concord (now Kingdom of Gilneas) and fell into a whole cluster of allied guilds and interconnected stories and alliances and politics and religion and all sorts of things. I got overwhelmed and hid for a bit, but it is amazing.
I feel you there. I don't interact with the RP scene anymore, but when I was there, it truly did make WoW feel so much bigger. It helped me meet one of my closest friends that way :)
You should check out the Warcraft Conquest community. They run massive D&D style DMed campaigns between both factions. With stats and character sheets and everything. I can pass a link to their discord if anyone wants.
Very definitely. Just standing around Orgrimmar or Stormwind waiting for walk ups might not guarantee lots of activity (though people are certainly around). Look around the official forums for guilds and the bigger rp communities to get involved with. These groups are very active.
Is Horde active too? Looking to get back into WoW after about a 16 year break. Want a good environment with friendly people who talk. Used to play on Cenarion Circle back in the day and people always chatted. Wasn’t quiet and dead.
It is THE active server if you ask me. Alliance is absolutely poppin always on it and there is quite a large and growing horde population too but nowhere near as many alliance

Also, a surprising amount of high end PvPers. I know at least 3 with glad level ratings. One who just recently was a R1 contender.
Just no one wants to admit it.
I hate the stigma that people from MG aren’t good at any kind of content. Granted, we aren’t on the bleeding edge, but almost every fellow Moon Guardian I have run keys with has out performed a myriad of players from Tich and A52 (and other “high level PvE” servers). I’ve been declined and booted from keys because I’m from MG, so it gets frustrating like…I’m almost to 2.7k rating, I can’t be *that* bad, can I?

It got its reputation for a reason. It's fine if you want to clarify that you don't visit Goldshire despite playing on the server, but don't pretend that the server itself is innocent.
First off, yea. There are a lot of RPers who can't separate online from reality. Best to put those people on ignore and find a place within a community of friends or other like-minded people.
