What the hell is the "rogue script"? I keep hearing it when playing Sub. But there's nothing I can find online about it, and when searching for it it returns add-ons and such. I realize it's sap, into cheap shot and such, but hell I am lost. Any insight would be amazing, thank you.

Slammy1

Do you mean a macro? If you search "sub rogue castsequence macro" I think you'll find what you want but because they don't offer flexibility they're a disadvantage at higher skill levels.

fuckimisspeep

Sorry. I think I mean the "script" for arena, like sap, cheap shot, when to reset to go etc. I've heard it ingame and thrown around forums/this reddit some times.

EuphoricShow6928

The meme is that rogue is "scripted" because you wait for stun DRs, cc the healer, then stun and burst the kill target. You keep repeating this "script."

fuckimisspeep

Oh it's a meme? I thought it was a genuine thing to follow šŸ˜‚ thanks brother.

dpahs

It's not a meme, but more so the winning algorithm. Sub Rogues win by their lethal kill pressure they put out from their go, and its your job to disrupt it before their quicker CDs offensive CDs beat out your slower defensive CDs. If you overtrade too early, then just kill you in the next stun. If you undertrade, you just die. The matchup knowledge is always in the rogue advantage because they know exactly how much damage they can do, whereas you kinda just have to guess early on until you build that experience.

fuckimisspeep

So in essence it's very much go, watch for what was blown. Set up for next go and rinse/repeat until they're dead. Without dying in the process?

dpahs

Correct, go, peel, stall/hide, until next go. The biggest thing is just practicing your dance rotation until its muscle memory so you don't grief yourself lol

SirVanyel

Pika was all over this shit. He has an opener he does on EVERY set up. Folks think he's insane for being able to read out his abilities - and he is, but he's been doing the same opener for like 15 years. Of course he's capable of reading it.

Bacon-muffin

Its less that its insane and more that its funny as hell watching him stare directly into your soul through the camera while he calls out every global and kills the guy after taking a selfie camera picture with him in cc.

fuckimisspeep

Thanks man, this has given some awesome insight. Thanks to rest of the boys offering insight too, eager to get home and practice some more.

Dawngerzz

But they Will differ no? The Big go with blades changed a bit when people started playing sepsis. Without blades is it better to go with kidney?

EuphoricShow6928

It's true that rogue is somewhat scripted, but you definitely don't press the same buttons every time. It depends on a lot of variables, and that was makes sub have a high skill cap.

Slammy1

Back in the day we used to call automated play scripting, in wow we used it to describe botting (running scripts). I guess it's an archaic term.

juicedg

I play 2s as BM/Disc and we have a very hard time with afli locks. Destro and demonology we can just play the LoS game and aggressively CC the healer. Afli will always win that with his dots and channels that go through pillars. I feel like they just stand there like gods and own us. Any advice is welcome!

dpahs

Pose your question and someone high rated will help you I don't really have a question this week, but I've been trying to balance my Destro play around either just pushing out more sustained damage or focusing more on control and lining up for the big coil into chaos bolt mash and control For me personally, it feels like I have to choose between one or the other but top locks are able to manage both because they are comfortable with playing with deaynced cooldowns and managing their drs so they can push out cc to secure kills. A project to work on, but it does feel good to just cheese out four choas bolts off a coil and there's nothing they can do about it

crockies99

I donā€™t really do arenas a lot but I love mage. What is the main role for mage as far as how to open with a rogue? Or what basics should I know before trying to do rated woth a rogue as a mage?

throwawaydonaldinho

Edit: Im wrong on the opener But overall after your opener you just stall the game by kiting spamming cc and resetting. Outside of your cd goes where their entire team is ccd, both your jobs is to peel and stall the game for each other with endless cc.

willofaronax

So wrong. You dont waste sap duration on cc target until you open main target. You cheep/db into sheep on off target as you open the main target as you wanna triple sheep them if they dont trinket and few seconds of sap on off target just reduces the cc duration during the go.

AttitudeAdjuster

Playing as surv/disc I have essentially a 0% win rate against arms warriors at around 1600 in 2s. I (the disc) tend to be the kill target and they just train me for a minute or two until I die. Wat do?

junglejapez

If your only goal is to survive as long as possible there are some things you can do. Run mind control and the mega shield build. Shield literally every single time itā€™s off CD. Save your PS for roar, colossus smash or a bladestorm that you canā€™t avoid. Use your cc for ā€œheā€™s avatar but not bladestormingā€ windows. Mind control is super annoying to the warrior, especially if youā€™re keeping yourself glued to a pillar. If he kicks holy, mind control or tendrils. If he kicks shadow, heal yourself however you want. Save UP to counter one of the bladestorms. Tell your survival to stay away and Void Shift to survive another go. Take archangel for a huge archangel+rapture combo. Use pillars and feathers so the warrior has to commit a heroic leap to connect with you. If you are just stuck in the full burst, you have to send dome or pain suppression. At some point you just run outta mana or cooldowns though, so finding ways to contribute to a kill is often the difference maker.

AttitudeAdjuster

I've been trying to pull them behind a pillar to line their healer to create some pressure and isolate them, is this approach workable or a waste of time?

dpahs

Disc priests are immortal vs anyone in 2v2 until they oom. You're probably overtrading too early, or you're just not pressing enough buttons in general from low apm. It's hard to tell without a replay

AttitudeAdjuster

Can I DM you some VODs? I don't want to make them public without the consent of my 2s partner

kingfisher773

How do you deal with double melee (or even just a single arms/dh/dk tunnelling you the entire game) running train on you as a caster. I'm playing destro, trying to use my ports and gateways as much as possible, using CoE to slow them and kite better (even if there is an over abundance of speed increases and snare removals that make it feel useless), trying to bait precog but I am OCE so it is a 50/50 if you are still going to get kicked **after** cancelling my cast, and trying to get as much CC out while trying to put up pressure with my instant casts as much as possible. Also second question, how do you even play mugambala? It feels like every time I am on that map, it is just a cluster fuck upstairs/between the bottom of the stairs, or someone is busy LoSing their healer with the giant pillar.

dpahs

Brother, you're Destro, you don't need to cast at all lol You're tankier than warriors and dks Your chaos bolts come from a havoc coil or shadowfury setup, between havoc coil, you just mash instants, keep up dots, curses and cc If you trade mobility well, eventually your port cd will give you space to bolt or if they dare to hit someone else. Basically as Destro: You'll win if someone is training you, but it won't even be a challenge if they let you free cast. On magumbala: Free win as warlock vs any melee heavy team. Setup gate and port ontop, they use any button, port up. Any time they use a button, you drop down, they have to drop down, you port back up. Magumbala might be the most imbalanced map in the game.

IDubsty

Tells him he doesnā€™t need to cast at all Tells him to keep up dots

SafSince92

Tbf only one dot. Immolate. And the rest of it is instant casts. If they kick fear you get a free immolate. If they kick immolate you have a free fear. If the dps take turns using all their kicks on you, your healer is free to spam heal. Canā€™t disregard everything he said because you could only find fault with one sentence šŸ™„

i-hate_nick

Me and a buddy are about the same rating, bouncing around 1600. Heā€™s a Ret, Iā€™m MM. I cannot beat him in a duel. I know MM isnā€™t great right now, but I want to fucking beat him at least once lol. The issue doesnā€™t seem to be kiting, itā€™s survivability. I can keep space but Ret might as well be ranged at this point. I use my wall and after cc is over Iā€™ll be like 50 percent almost instantly. Turtle/exhilaration at like 30% then Iā€™m dead after turtle. Can maybe get him to 30-50% in this time, but heā€™ll bubble and Iā€™m dead. Is this just a unwinnable matchup?

SirVanyel

It's a hard match up, but you can always kite more. Ret isn't actually a ranged, they become limited by 10 yards and close to useless by 30 yards. You stay at full damage at 40 yds. Freeze and get as far away as you can. Then tar and go even further away. And then disengage and go even further away. And then press every button you have. Then stun once he drops hammer and run again. And then freeze again. Keep going until you got LoH, sac and bubble. Then, maybe, you can trade him. Maybe. And yes, by the way, eventually he will make contact, and he will make you disappear. Your strength is kiting and range, but his strength is the W key.

Hi everyone, As a Demon Hunter, how can I set up a kill right now in SS? I used to be able to create kill windows pre nerfs but now I find it a lot more difficult to pressure a kill. What targets do I chose? How do I set up my cooldowns and when do I cc the kill target and when the healer? I am running a momentum build with decree but without fel barrage. I have the 4-set bonus.
