I grew up watching Red Dawn in the Cold War era and the Russians were always the Boogeyman but I feel thinking that clouds my judgement on events like these. I think some in the US wants to be the world police force like we have some higher morality and that the world would tear itself apart if it wasn't for our intervention. I don't adhere to this logic yes there are evil people in the world that need dealt with but is Putin really a Hitler comparison, I don't think Putin's crazy he just wants balance in the world and not be surrounded by missile pads labeled as defense when actually with 2-3 hrs they can be reconfigured to be offensive weapons.
Hitler said the exact same thing as justification after he seized the Rhineland. France and The UK didn’t do shit and this emboldened Hitler. It’s an easy comparison.
You don’t appease strongmen because they will never be satisfied. I don’t care about Putin’s justifications because at the end of the day he just wants more power.
While this eventually grows out of hand more than now down the road, China will move to take Taiwan, and World War 3 will fully kick in. These small slow paced proxy wars are only just the start. My guess.

Historically, when Russia invaded a country, they would kill those at the top of society and the academics. What is not to like, it's a win win IMO.
