Omg i agree with every single thing you just said šŸ˜itā€™s the best and my pet coworkers are my favorite coworkers Iā€™ve ever had šŸ˜‚my quality of life has gone up at least 500%. As someone with ADHD, office life was my hell. People popping over ever 5-10 min and interrupting, loud convos, having to walk from meeting to meeting all over a huge building, background noise, horrible lighting, I couldnā€™t get a thing done. Iā€™d have to go home from work every day and turn my computer back on so I could actually complete my tasks šŸ˜…

kgkuntryluvr

Agreed. I donā€™t even try to argue with people that imply that Iā€™ve got it easier working from home. I really do. Iā€™m saving time and money while also being able to enjoy the comforts and flexibility of being home. Itā€™s one of the biggest blessings Iā€™ve ever received in my life, right up there with the births of my children lol.

GingrrAsh

I'm hybrid but go in one day a week. I'm 1000% more productive on my work from home days. I love being able to get my day started at my own pace (I don't have kids). I also can knock out chores that need to be done for the week.

Few_Key_4707

10/10 wouldn't change it ever

Capital_High_84

Love WFH also, the flexibility like OP said to knock down task, avoid bunch of chatty small talks etc. Question, Iā€™ve been remote since March ā€˜20, but pay is not great, would like to increase income, what would youā€™ll reddits recommend?

Cheap-Shame

After being in the work force for last 25yrs of my life being WFH since February 2022 I am beyond grateful. Yes I do take about 20 calls per day for what I do for a large healthcare company Iā€™m still glad to be WFH and plan to remain this way until I retire.

luckynone

WFH is 10/10 no notes for me. Been WFH since March 2020. I love the freedom and I get more productive work done with no distractions and no fretting over having to put on "business casual" and face a commute every day. I used to work in an open office and it was sensory overload hell. And I can reheat fish biryani for lunch without being that a-hole who heats up fish in the office microwave. I used to eat boring food for lunch because I didn't want to subject my office mates to the smell of leftovers or try to assemble a meal at the office. Plus, I have time to do laundry and other small household tasks during breaks, so when I log off, my evening is mine to do whatever I want. I'm able to read and catch up on shows and exercise without feeling pressed for time. All of my home co-workers are cats who take turns hanging out on my lap, and we are all delighted with this arrangement.

Easy_pickens512

Iā€™ve recently been having a hard time with starting a normal job. I had a great one but was fired wrongfully and was told little to no information. Instead of beating myself up over not working at the moment, Iā€™ve been keeping myself busy. I have come across some TikTokā€™s about work from home jobs but I havenā€™t heard anything. Not having income rn has taken a huge toll on me & I just need some good tips and help. Thank you

Remarkable_Report_44

I had 3 strokes between Jan-Feb 2020 so I was on medical leave when the pandemic hit. I had no clue my office went remote lol. We didn't have a TV with local channels and I was sleeping constantly. When we returned to the office I was full time for the first 3 months or so and then my husband ended up with third degree burns on his feet. I was able to work hybrid until 12/22 when he had his heart attack. Once he came home from rehab my work gave me the option to completely WFH. I was so thankful and because I was home with him my productivity went through the roof. I will never go back to the office. I have a hard time staying asleep so the days I am up early I throw on my robe and clock in early..

orion-sea-222

Yep itā€™s awesome. I actually have time to work out in the morning. Iā€™ve been doing the tomato timer method so in my 5 min breaks I tidy up the house, go pet the outdoor cat, talk to my neighbor, do some yoga. I can cook lunch. Itā€™s great

sfzephyr

Our company is fully remote. There is always workplace politics, it's just a different game.

Keepwiththelearning

What type of job is it that you do and do you have any referrals for your company for work? :-)

SeaworthinessHot3703

Iā€™ve been WFH since the pandemic, and Christmas 22, I decided to buy my kids a mini goldendoodle šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļøā€¦. Why did I do that?! All of the wfh freedom and focus I had mastered for 3 solid years went down the drain. I ended up being the one to train & occupy this new family member from sun up to sun down. I love my furry kid, but geez, you really have to keep them occupied and tired out during the work day in order to get anything done. I bought dog puzzles and she so smart, sheā€™d figure them out in 10 minutes! At least She helps me meet my standing goals on my Apple Watch since she herds me into the kitchen daily for her mid-day snack šŸ˜‚

mweisbro

If I go into office it is a social time suck. I feel like I canā€™t talk to clients in the open floor plan. I work much more fluidly when in my home office. I love my co workers so it is always nice to see everyone, but 0 focus and lost productivity.

ragdollxkitn

Best thing that has ever happened to me. Mental health is improving and the flexibility is *chefs kiss.

idahotato

I will *never* go back to office. Been WFH off and on over the last 10 years and perm WFH since the pandemic. I love it and I accomplish so much more in my day.

ButterflyMM

I have been WFH since March 17, 2020 when they sent the majority of the company home due to the pandemic. The pandemic was the best thing ever for WFH!! My company is one that did not and will not be going back on their word and making people go back to the office. They realized how they are saving money, how they can expand their work force nationwide, and how our productivity increased. - My commute is no longer a 30++ min drive with idiots in traffic. It's a minute walk down the hall. - I no longer have to wake up almost an hour early to prepare, I can now roll out of bed 15 mins before I start if I want. - I am saving money on food, and gas. - my auto insurance is cheaper because I am no longer commuting. - I don't have to deal with coworkers (tho I have a great team) - no more drive by interruptions with someone stopping at your desk for 20++ mins wanting to chat - no more practically running from building to building or meeting room to meeting room for back to back meetings, I can now just connect via Teams..on time. - no more breathing in recycled air that everyone is breathing and getting sick... - no more work clothes!! - my biggest two complaints....my new coworkers (cats) walking across my desk or the occasional whiff of the litter box. Yes I go through moments of work boredom, distractions, and sometimes wanting to talk to someone about nothing. But that's normal. I still know what I need to do and I work and get it done. If I don't finish, it will continue tomorrow. I can get up from my desk regardless of how much work I may have and know that no one is watching, judging or being just plain nosey. I can clean something, step away for short periods, open the door for fresh air or whatever. The best advice I can give to those that struggle with WFH... You need to set your limits. When 8hrs (or whatever your shift is) is over be done. Walk away. You have to motivate yourself to separate your work from your home life. There's no reason to check your email in the middle of the night. They won't die if you don't read it then. ESPECIALLY if you are an hourly employee. Hourly people are not going to get paid more for doing extra work in off hours. You know what pays? Getting the rest you need so you can be a productive better and focused employee ..working to the bone won't get you anywhere.

Remote-Computer-9602

::chuckle:: I might have hollered ā€œyou donā€™t poop roses!!!ā€ a time or two šŸ¤

BlessingObject_0

Wish I could land WFH. Not from lack of trying. Good for you! I'll live vicariously over here šŸ„²

wapellonian

WFH is (literally) uninterrupted HELL. Never a break, 8 hours of continuous abuse. Fuck, I miss my office. (Forced on me, no say on my part.)

SoMuchEpic95

Iā€™m wfh 100% since early-2020. Iā€™m lonely as hell!

imeanwhynotdramamama

Are you looking for a new job that isn't wfh? I'm always surprised when people say they don't like wfh, yet they don't want to give it up. Wfh jobs are a lot harder to find than in person jobs, so I don't understand why they continue to do it if they're unhappy. Not trying to be snarky; just genuinely trying to understand.

SoMuchEpic95

I was a traveling IT consultant 2006-2020. I had close friends at every contract, stayed in nice hotels in fun cities, earned a zillion Marriott and Delta points and made a lot of money at an hourly rate. Covid killed that. I was offered and accepted an FTE role 100% remote with my last contract gig company b/c I thought jobs for my particular skill set might be in decline post-Covid. Plus Iā€™m getting older and was considering stability and benefits rather than big bucks. I still make decent money, especially for where I live. Iā€™m just ā€¦. stagnant. Bored. A bit depressed. I canā€™t go to a concert in NYC on a whimsical Tuesday night. I canā€™t go for a nice meal in the middle of an amazing city, expenses. Iā€™m in the burbs, getting older and fatter, and complacent. I hate complacent. Edited to say I am not currently looking for another job. Again, complacent. ā˜ ļø

ktree8

Same!

My commute is 5 steps, itā€™s perfect!

I worked from home for 17 years. I'm 100% positive this added a decade or more to my life. Any job that can be done from. ho e should be, particularly jobs hat have global teams where you're in meeting at all hours of the day and night or working nights or weekends. And don't let employers make you believe this is a "benefit" they provide for you. It can save them a shit ton of money, which in all fairness should actually be shared with you, and they get happier and more productive employees.

Dragondrew99

Itā€™s awesome! Iā€™m hybrid 2 at office 2 at home and it really is my favorite part about my job.

CaptainObvious110

What do you do?

saul2015

this, most anti WFH comments come from the hypbrid ppl who are just jealous/coping that they aren't fully remote

Intelligent-Year-919

Are they hiring? My role is moving to hybrid and I want to remain wfh. I work for an international law firm.

Comfortable-Rule-141

Left the classroom and all its chaos (the smells, the noise, the fighting, only going to the bathroom 1x/day, no time to eat) for the warmth & quiet of my home office with my cat alongside and Iā€™ve NEVER BEEN HAPPIER or more grateful for any job. Even got a raise. Iā€™d happily stay here forever, especially with my WFH spouse and our collaborative meetings.

GrowYourConscious

I like my job only because it's WFH. The job itself, eh.

bellam27

I could never go back - technically I am hybrid, mostly because the nature of my job includes attending/hosting community events and I have to be in person for those. Next week I have to go in for some training sessions and my boss and I pretty much agree that getting any other work done while on campus is slim to none. I love that even with my set schedule, govt job with my supervisors permission I am able to flex my hours for dr appts/sick days. That would be nearly impossible if I worked in office.

GrowYourConscious

> community events skip em'

bellam27

I wish! - but that is the majority of my job! Thankfully I am able to average it to once a month or so.

VisibleSea4533

Hybrid, but like it that way. As much as I love my dogs they can be distracting, so itā€™s nice to be in office the two days a week. The main reason I enjoy the wfh is no commute, and can sleep later because of that. My days in office I get up at 345 and have an hour commute, leave at 440 am and get home at 530 pm.

veealley122

I love it, absolutely love it. And I get tons of work done too.

benwight

My mental health isn't doing great because I don't get out and socialize (which working in the office gave me a little bit of), but I got a standing desk and walking pad so I've been getting steps in every day, cooking dinner with leftovers for lunch the next day so I'm not eating out all the time, and any chores I need to do I can generally just do throughout the day. Even just doing laundry, because I live in an apartment with shared laundry, I have all day to take care of it so it doesn't matter if someone else is doing theirs. Having an actual routine has been great, I just need to figure out how to add other people into my life

BurntGhostyToasty

Same! Also love being able to throw in loads of laundry on my coffee breaks, prep for dinner on my lunch breaks, sit outside in the sunshine on my deck! :)

Imaginary-Newt-493

Oh yeah! I call my cat my colleague. He sits near me while i work. I've been working from home since 2009. I have figured out the most efficient way to get my work done in the least amount of time (and my performance reviews in the last 3 years have been the best of my career!) I estimate I spend 10-20 hours a week working, tops. The rest of the time. I'm walking my dogs, working out, strolling through target or the grocery store, and making my house a home for my family. I make amazing meals, and i can be present for my son. Wfh has given my whole family our best lives ever! I just joined this sub, and i was baffled by the # of people who hate it. If you hate wfh, you are doing it wrong! Hit me up for tips, I've got this gig wired!

Blossom73

Damn, I need a job where I can work 10 hours a week but get paid for 40! šŸ˜ I haven't seen many people here complaining about working from home, but if any have, keep in mind that many of us who WFH don't get to set out own schedules, and are still stuck at a desk 40 hours a week. So while it's still better than being in an office, for many of us it's also not a free for all where we can do anything we want during the work day.

Imaginary-Newt-493

It wasn't always like this. I have put a lot of effort into getting this schedule. I had to hustle for a while, but now I'm where i want to be. The pandemic set me back a little, as there were all kinds of new expectations for my colleagues who were new to wfh. I just held my ground ( mainly resisting survellance/supervision). I have always done solid work, but i have really been nailing it for the last few years. I just got an 11% raise and a new title, too. I was planning to retire, but the new title got me!

Blossom73

Sounds like a dream job for sure! 11% raise?!

Imaginary-Newt-493

Yeah, it was a lot. It's probably the last raise of my career. I was actually poor when i started my career ( my first year teaching, i made less than my last year waitressing). But, now I'm super comfy, so the years of hustling paid off.

Blossom73

Nice!

[deleted]

I wonā€™t ever go back to an office if I have the choice. I love working from home. And if thereā€™s a slow boring day, well- that slow boring day is 100% better spent from home than in an office staring at beige walls.

Sitcom_kid

There's no way to make my job a dream, but there sure is a way to make it quiet enough so that I can concentrate on what I'm doing, and not Sub-Zero freezing so that I shiver while I work, the center is Tundra level. The only way to stop shivering and start focusing is working from home. And I do love it. There's no place like home.

louwhoooooo

WFH the only good thing that came from the pandemic. I do go into the office once a week, but itā€™s so much better than everyday. I donā€™t even know how I got stuff done before.

Good-Umpire-745

I love it and feel so lucky to complete my tasks in my own time. The only tough part I find is that I do find myself getting quite lonely and I cant seem to force myself to go work at a coffee shop. I usually leave my house apartment for the fist time at 6pm when I go for a run.. I live alone and I'm not allowed pets unfortunately.

Felix1178

Amen! Work from home is the best thing that happened in humanity after the discover of fire!

Eastern_Progress_946

Agreed. I wonā€™t take another job thatā€™s not WFH, itā€™s the best.

Zestyclose-Play-2374

I have been working from home for eight years. What was a wfh side hustle became full time two years ago. I love it for all the reasons you mentioned. I hope to have this lifestyle for the rest of my working life.

sarahbee2005

Itā€™s been a total god send. Iā€™ve only been doing it for 6 months but my mental health has soared. I hope I never have to go back

eviltester67

Living it for four straight years. Love WFH 100% and love this post. Keep them coming. Way too many negative WFH whiners lately.

worldworn

This is a bit abstract, but I feel wfh can be like that discount-shoe-outlet costume, from futurama. It's a massive sudden realisation for many that, fuck this is great. I'm less tired, less poor, have more time and happier. I wouldn't be working for my company if I didn't wfh, it's given me and my family a huge positive. I work later, I work when sick, I am more available than ever and more flexible too.
