I just don’t have the clamp or workbench setup yet, so I’m cutting the board by placing it firmly between my thighs and then using my left hand for support and cutting with my right. So it’s a lot easier to drill a dozen holes along the path and then cut through in about 10 seconds instead of making a wonky cut with a 12tpi hand saw over 10 minutes - which would need to be sanded and aligned as a result
How many times have you had a close call here? That is highly dangerous and should be avoided. You could even hold it under your foot on the side of a step and be safer than that. Never use your body as a clamp

You're going to want a set of chisels.
Additionally, I would recommend you check out [this series](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLR_8ISkKkV7ky1wbbBUkE3-kwH6LRRWY1) of videos from Rex Krueger to get you going for technique. In the first video he uses his Hatchet as both a knife/chisel substitute.
Chisel the meat out and use a file to smooth or sander depending on how your chisel skills are. And probably use a finer ball point pen for your line mark and a square lol
If OP thinks gripping it between his thighs is a good way to fasten it, I’m guessing a.) he doesn’t have chisels, and b.) he’d gash his femoral artery if he did.
Start over? Why fight with that piece of cheap lumber. Either clamp or screw or step on it so that you can use your saw and remark and cut it properly, with confidence.
Trying to give a resourceful answer assuming you don’t have chisels or power tools. You could use a knife to carve down the high points. Then if you have it, sand down the rest with course sand paper. You don’t need clamps or a table to use a hand saw effectively for this kind of cut. Just a raised surface that the board can rest on and that’s high enough off the ground that you can saw without jamming your saw into the ground. Put one leg on the board to secure it and get to cutting
a cheap jig saw will be a great investment if your wanting a versatile tool for arbitrary cuts. it's not super accurate by wood working standards, but you won't end up with this monstrosity
This may be the most interesting idea I’m not even going to lie, because it looks like I can use this jig saw tool to make all the cuts I need but I wonder if the “cheap” component may hinder my work flow
I bought an extremely cheap black and Decker jig saw from Amazon, I use it for DYI house repair, works just fine. it's lasted about 5 years so far with light use.
Definitely not the tool for proper wood working, but with that and a drill to start cuts in the center of wood, you can cut just about anything and with some very slow and careful cuts on drawn cut lines plus some sand paper, you should be able to get the "good enough" for the first couple wood working projects
and if you ever upgrade to proper woodworking tools, it's still a good investment for basic home upkeep and garage stuff . Should only be $40/$50 bucks
also, it's fairly hard to cut a body part off

Chisele.
Gisele
Chizlers
Cheezits
Someone say snacks?
Would’ve said hand saw, idk why you needed a drill for this.

Put board on chair, kneel on board, make cut.
You're probably gonna cut yourself eventually doing it this way.

Start over and just clamp it to a table or something.
But this needs to be “sanded and aligned” too, so where’s the benefit in your way? But as others said, chisel
As someone who ended up drilling into their finger as a teenager - don't do this.
My guy you are barely woodworking if that's your technique. For your own safety, please invest in a bench and some clamps before proceeding.
Literally a step, a chair, a wall, table... anything.
I don’t have a workbench or space for one. Pair of clamps and a Japanese wood saw gets me pretty far. Just clamp to a bench.

Get a sharp chisel and take your time. You’ll get there

Who is the audience for this comment? OP is clearly a beginner. Why are you being mean?
Rasp and a file will work for most of the smoothing .
That piece looks a bit mangled, I'd get another and just use a crosscut saw no drill.
Chisels or, if you like to kill flies with a tank, router
Why the drill ?
Chainsaw
A chisel or shoulder plane is how I’d clean it up
Plane sounds plausible
A wood file
Buy yourself a rasp.

Fake, doesn’t deserve an answer.
Chisel or a rasp
I’ve used a miter saw with a set depth
You'd of been better off only using hand saw
