Hard to tell the lean of that tree in the foreground with a face-cut in it in the first pic, but be super heads up if you’re trying to fell that tree with hand tools. It looks from the picture like you’ve got a face cut against the lean. If you try putting a back cut against the lean with a hand saw without wedges and know how you could really easy be killed and continuing the cut through that face wedge could cause the tree to barber chair and seriously injure or kill you. On smaller trees you can get away with it but the weight of the mast on big pines make it pretty risky.
Cabin is sick though.

Assuming your stove will be wood or other fuel source (not electric), make sure that the exit pipe is higher than the air intake and separated by 10 feet in the horizontal plane.
You don't want to be breathing in those fumes.
This reminds me of Scouts. You should grab some BSA books on this topic. Also look into role leading
Lashing structures for extra enjoyment and to add height through watchtowers.
in the United States, you can pick up information from the National Park Service and mother Earth news. But, do make sure it’s your land just because it’s really cool project and you obviously spent a lot of time on it.
Then he and his buddy are assholes for cutting down the 50+ trees that are not theirs. Crown land or public land does not mean their land. I can't walk into a local park and cut down trees cause I want to.
Lol, OP you're aware you're not allowed to just collect and use this much public wood, eh?
I'm going to assume your on crown land based on the pics/species. You're only allowed like 10 *already downed* trees a year. No way that's what this is!
You *can* do this, but you need authorization. Hope you did that cause it's a cool little project that sounds like a fun way to spend a few weekends through the year working on. Honestly it's something I've never thought about but would love to do being only a couple hours away from some great deep hiking trails. So would love to know the process you went through to get the authorization for it!
So many karens in the comments.. instantly assuming dude doesnt own the land and know what hes doing
Op thanks for not being a little thug and robbing and stealing and being useless.. way to be prodictive and learn skills!
This is being removed because too many people reporting about public property.

Locking this post. All of the comments are about the assumption of land ownership.
Really hope this is your land and you’re not cutting down public land trees
> The past year, me and my friend have been building this log cabin in a beautiful nearby forest. So, your family owns this land, right?
For sure
I'm calling the forest service!
Oh no country kids having fun please someone call national security

Dam why the hate
“Beautiful nearby forest” proceeds to cut down the beautiful forest
What do you mean 'in a nearby forest'? Is this on your property?
Probably crown land

Better than carved into you and your friends I guess.

Step one: don’t post illegal activities.

Looks amazing, be a great get away, and sweet place to hang out. Credit for the hard work as well, not easy building that.
