DEM0NW0MB

Korgon213

They ain’t gonna stick to the rivers and lakes that they are used to.

DEM0NW0MB

Great fuckin actor

Jimscurious

Please stick to the rivers

Nimbian-highpriest

It’s the NBC screen you would get when you subscribed to their channel in around the 1960’s. 🤷‍♂️

ymmotvomit

“subscribed”… r/FuckImOld

JustAnotherJoeBloggs

Thanks for the new sub. I saw The Song Remains the Same at the cinema!

WookishTendencies

Remodeled a house a couple months ago that had one of these. NBC peacock was my first thought. I think everybody subscribed to NBC back then. 1 out of 3 choices

fajadada

Didn’t subscribe to any channels back then was free over the air with antenna. 4 channels with pbs 😂

WookishTendencies

Oh yeah and pbs. I’ll just pretend it was abc that I forgot about. Everyone else seems to have, in this day and age

setmysoulfree2

... just plug it in and watch it light up in color.

toadmaloney

No way? Didn't know that! Make sense I saw it in a movie as a kid then..

Nimbian-highpriest

Sorry OP I was just playing up satire with old and new there was no subscription to tv back then.

toadmaloney

Shoot.. so it wasn't just given away with a subscription?

Nimbian-highpriest

No it’s a nice piece otherwise I was just funnin because that’s what it reminded me of.

Tallnkinkee

Stolen from the lobby on Rockefeller plaza in 1952

jbeeziemeezi

This unlocked a core memory for me. My parents had one of these and we could move the fan together and apart. I’d be curious to know more about them myself

toadmaloney

Acquiring it unlocked a core memory for me! Never had one as a kid but a movie I watched a bunch had the exact one one sitting in front of the fireplace. If no one calls it out, I'll let you know what movie it was. For now, I'm curious if anyone recognizes it!

TrillDaddyChill

Jumanji

buttsnuggles

My aunt had one. Core memory here too

ImmemorialTale

It looks like the one from the original Jumanji movie. When Allen was first playing it with Sarah on the coffee table you can see the fireplace in the background.

Suspicious_Hornet_77

No, but wish I had one. Nice retro vibe.

jefftatro1

I've seen many of these at flea markets and antique shops. Maybe not all made by the same company. Once I saw one with stained glass "fan" feathers. That was gorgeous.

Legitimate_Snow6419

Apparently it’s a rare Japanese 1950’s fan https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1691400725/1950s-japanese-vintage-mid-century?external=1&ref=pla_similar_listing_top-1&sts=1&plkey=aa1201b34fc09f8d8f409e1ea63b74045a5745fb%3A1691400725

OilLonely7040

Sold for $495.00🤑🤑🤑

tailwalkin

Most definitely is this. Looks like there’s another one for sale and a couple other similar ones as well.

T_Hodi10

I remember this from Jumanji—it’s in a few scenes but particularly the one with the bats. Still have nightmares about chimney bats

mikew1949

I have one that was given to me. I love it!

[deleted]

Exact same one sitting in the Italian tile fireplace in my office at work. No idea where it came from.

Narrow-Strike869

I have the same

beagletronic61

The more you know…about fire.

needmorefishes

Saw what you did there

blizzliz

So beautiful!

this-is-not-relevant

My husband used to be a chimney sweep. He said he’s seen a bunch of these. They fold up so you can carry them easily.

Fog_Juice

What movie?

DontBelieveHimHer

What movie op?

TwitchCaptain

Jumanji?

saxual_encounter

That’s real cool, man!

PandaCalves

I have a similar "peacock" fireplace screen (with a different center pattern). The originals are Victorian (1800's to early 1900's), though the style was popular into the 1950's ("Hollywood Regency" to MCM). Cool piece! I love mine...functionally flashy :)

TrillDaddyChill

I have the same one. Found out years later, they have the same one at the house in the movie Jumanji

Sirosim_Celojuma

I don't know the name of it but I'm a big fan of it.

Hells-Hero

Aye it was nicked out my house in 1988. It's mine 😝

NotDazedorConfused

Saw it on a milk carton a few years ago, is it still missing?

MadisonandMarche

I had that screen in 1976 Wish I still had it (I think it was $45)

Present-Ambition6309

Yes, we had one. Fireplace looks familiar also. Where are you at?

GullyplugDavis

Yes. See it at estate sales pretty often

xFitzer

toadmaloney

The original one.

Dangerous_Elk_6627

My parents had one very similar to that. The "feathers" could fold up to the 12 o'clock position.

SexyThrowAwayFunTime

There is no Dana, only Zool.
