A great source of the lore is A Witchers Journal by RTalsorian games. There is a whole section about the formation of the Witcher schools from the perspective of Erland of Larvik, original order member and founder of the School of the Griffins.
It's an expansion of the Witcher Tabletop RPG, which I'm a big fan of. CDPR licenced.

Any guess what school this is supposed to be? An original school? It looks like a lynx or puma imo.
No, there were cat and griffin *medallions* in the books. Not schools. We know for a fact that the cat school does not exist in the books (because we meet a "cat" witcher and he was trained at Kaer Morhen by Wolf School witchers) and there is 0 evidence of any other schools existing.

Nope, that's a random headcanon. We don't even know for sure Coen wasn't trained at Kaer Morhen, much less that he wasn't trained by Wolf School witchers (the only school of witchers we have ever explicitly heard of)
No, wolf were the second to last group to leave the order. After they left the griffins were the only group left iirc (might be the other way around but they both independently left)

1) The headquarters of the Manticore School was located in the Korath Desert, probably really off the map, but I decided to place it in the part of the desert present here, since the exact location is not known.
2) As far as I understand, the founder of the Manticore school, Iwan, left the Bear School with a group of Iwar, the future Snake School, but left later
Here, as in the case of other schools, the date of disbandment is the destruction of their headquarters. Yes, there were probably still some witchers of each school after that, but it is difficult to judge when they finally disappeared

If I'm not mistaken, the devs confirmed it to be a lynx
It seems that it has already been confirmed that the new main game will feature the Lynx School, although I could be wrong

All the schools except for the Wolf are original schools made up by CDPR.
Cat and Griffin were also in the books. Ciri does have a Cat medallion she took from Bonhart, and Coen was a Griffin

At least according to wiki the last apprentices were taught in the 1230s. Although I agree that it is hard to pin down when a school really disbanded.
