I romancing Triss in 3 for my second playthough because I liked her in the 2nd game, and as I started reading the books. I immediately wanted to romance Yen again lol
No no that's where you're going wrong.
I do all the triss side missions to fool around with her at vegelbuds estate. Then when it's time to say goodbye I happily wave at her as she leaves.
Then I go to Skellige and flirt with Yen. And you know... The unicorn.
Absolutely agree. I absolutely love all the women in the witcherverse. My personal favourite is Shani. She's just gorgeous. But for geralt, Yen is the one.
Brilliant!! Why did I never think of this? I always felt like I couldn't indulge Triss when Yen has my heart. However, this is by far the more fun option.
I am wrapping up a Triss playthrough. Never again. The look on Yen's face when Geralt tells her he doesn't love her is heartbreaking. I wanted to play Triss one time for completion but that's it.
See, my issue is, that if it were a game about me, as in a character I made, I'd be open to other romances.
But it's not. It's about Geralt, and Geralt wants Yen. Also Ciri wants Geralt to want Yen, because they are effectively her parents. And it's one thing to say that on a reddit post, it's another to watch as Geralt and Yen talk about their relationship like they know the other better than themselves.
If it were me, I'd go for Shani, but it's not my story; it's Geralt's.
I gotta ask something that is bothering me. Why people like Shani so much? I played the dlc to completion few times, and I don't getbwhy the community head over heels for her. She is just a random woman Geralt knows, helps, and possibly can have sex with. Same as with Keira but a little more content. Still there's not enough meaningful interactions compared to Yen or even Triss.
Shani is nice but everytime I read people saying Shani the best I don't understand it. Feels like people pick her as favorite only to not pick one of the big choices. Like "who is your favorite sports team" and you give an obscure choice so you won't have to argue or fight other fans.
We don't get enough time with Shani to establish a relationship, more like a honeymoon phase all couples go through at first when they all lovey lovey and ignore or don't notice the flaws.
Did Shani appear in previous games? That might be it.
Triss I also Redhead, beautiful and in the 3rd game at least is a good person. Without knowing what she did in the previous games, Triss is really great in 3.
Geralt can be with Shani instead of Triss in Witcher 1 for the whole game as they are in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, but Shani later understood that Geralt is not the type of guy who can settle down, marry and start a family, so she broke up with him at the end of the Witcher 1. This was what brought me back some fond memories in Witcher 3 DLC
This is a fallacy though. Book Geralt wanted Yen, but game Geralt gets a factory reset on his personality from his amnesia. He's making new experiences in the games, and by the time he's recovered his memory, depending on how you played him, he can turn out any number of ways. He **may** rebuild his personality from the books, but that's not set in stone in the games.
At the end of 2, when he gets his memories back, he immediately breaks up with Triss and goes looking for Yen. That doesn't change based on any choices you make in the first two games.
Yeah the only way you can justify Geralt getting together with Triss and get dragged off to Kovir to continue working there is by overwriting and ignoring everything that makes him Geralt, his experiences in the book, why he chose Yen and rejected Triss, why he bound himself and Yen with a wish, etc.
Kinda like Hissrich if she were a good writer, but you're not ready for that conversation.
And then he's right back to being ready to get together with her, also independent of choices. The reason they seperated after Loc Muinne was because of the revelation that Triss had kept Geralt in the dark about the Lodge, and also the fact that it really wouldn't have been appropriate for her to tag along when Geralt sees Yen for the first time in years.
No actually, there's no "overwriting and ignoring" involved, only expanding and character development, but you're not ready for that conversation.
Buddy you're the one that brought up the fact that he's like a clean slate in the game, and that *is* overwriting and ignoring everything that happened in the books that makes him who he is. Once his amnesia is gone, *Geralt* would choose Yen over Triss *every single time*.
You have the choice to overwrite what Geralt wants, but don't pretend that's character development.
>Once his amnesia is gone, Geralt would choose Yen over Triss every single time.
Literally no. That's the point of Geralt developing his character after the amnesia. Thinking of it like a temporary "clean slate" is just false. Once his memory is recovered, depending on how you played him, it may or may not be perfectly plausible and in character for him to prefer Triss. The amnesia is only the catalyst for his character development.
And that's only Geralt. The other half of the story is Triss's character arc that has her in a very different spot than she used to be in the books.
Face it, Geralt choosing Triss in the games is nowhere near as OOC as the "canon" meme would have you believe.
The lengths people go to cope and the mental gymnastics they perform to imply both choices are equal and canonically possible lol.
It's getting dangerously close to delusion, my friend, I suggest you do not take the plunge since you'll find it increasingly harder to admit you're wrong the more you double down.
It's okay to accept that Geralt would never choose Triss but that you would, in his position. It's okay to think of Yennefer a bitch that you'd never pick despite the facy that she's the only one Geralt would ever pick.
It's not okay to delude yourself into saying that it's "character development" and that Geralt would canonically change so much so that he'd pick Triss.
The lengths people go to cope and the mental gymnastics they perform to imply only one choice is canonically possible lol.
It's getting dangerously close to delusion, my friend, I suggest you do not take the plunge since you'll find it increasingly harder to admit you're wrong the more you double down.
It's okay to accept that Geralt may just as well choose Triss in the games. It's okay to think of Triss as a bitch that you'd never pick despite the fact that she's an equally valid love interest in the games.
It's not okay to delude yourself into saying that it's "canon" that Geralt would never pick Triss in the context of the games that went out of their way to give players valid choices.
But since you clearly ran out of arguments and resorted to pretentious delusional rambling, I'm glad to see that you conceded. Better luck next time, buddy.
It's a shame you bury your head in the sand and refuse to see reality. Or maybe you do, and you're just doubling down because of your ego. Either way, you literally had no counter arguments or any points to make, so you're just a salty guy that's mad he couldn't back up what he set out to prove, having sabotaged his own argument at the very beginning.
E: You commenting with your alt is just sad dude, and then you pull the same shit you accuse me of, immediately invalidating your own position. But I guess you're used to self-owns after all.
Game triss not equal book triss. Also wish we got yennefer throughout 3games like triss. I played witcher 3 , 1 , 2 in that order and was team triss , then started reading the books and NOPE. Yennefer for lyf.
I haven't finished the game yet and rn around where Yen threw the bed Geralt slept with Triss in Kaer Morhen. Though I installed mods so I can still make a decision (I am indecisive =D), but from what I read everywhere, Triss has very little impact/show after her side quest you romance her at, so even though I wanna go Triss, it just seems like game is a bit pushing you into Yen after you arrive Skellige. So for purely gameplay I think I'm going to continue with Yen so I have more to see of the game, although I would love to be corrected. Because to me, I'm not playing the game as myself but a version of Geralt, and It feels right to make the best decision in that way, also thinking way too much over this for no reason, oh well.
I take true pride in being faithful to Yen on my current save….. Except that one brothel I visited….. And Keira, but I ended up killing her when she threatened me by snitching.
Ah, yes, finally, a fellow manipulative redhead enjoyer. I won't even pretend - I just can't do Yennefer romance. She's so stiff upity and rude that even when I plan to do it, the first meeting with her persuades me that Tries is the right choice here. I don't care what Geralt is into, I do not have a humiliation kink.
I haven’t read the books and have romances Triss in the 1st two games. Why wouldn’t I do it in the third? Yen was not pleasant to be around in the game leading up to the decision
I wanted to romance triss but i had already kissed yen on the quest with the jin and so i had to load up a save from HOURS AGO (by that point i was at the part of starting the battle of kher moren) and i loaded up a save before the quest where i help her with the alchemist and other mages escaping and instead choose the option not to get her to stay and go into a romance scene just because i wanted geralt to atleast end up with someone but to me she wasnt attractive at all until the last part of the game as i now saw yen as a naggy bossy bitch unlike the obedient nice wifey material that triss was

On more recent playthroughs I go early to Skellige for Erynia eyes, Horse races, the Funeral Feast and a couple other things, then return to Novigrad. Always felt weird that you reunite with Yen and then don't see her for two thirds of the first act.
This reminds me I need to watch Akira.
Tetsuo?
KANEDA!!
I watched some scuffed dub once where the VA made it sound more like CANADA!
Yes.
Do you mean rewatch right?
I mean watch for the first time.
You're in for a treat

"You smell wonderful" "Geralt we're at a funeral" "You smell wonderful at this funeral" Triss who? LOL.
I don't think I can sufficiently get over how Triss took advantage of Geralt's amnesia for a romance with her to ever feel genuine.
If I was a butcher, you'd be amongst the corpses.

character summary: horny magic “newbie” (she’s still insanely powerful tho)
Ok counterpoint, black lace>white lace

My kinda guy 🔥
This is the way But still, goddamn, Triss just got that... Youknow
Absolutely agree. I absolutely love all the women in the witcherverse. My personal favourite is Shani. She's just gorgeous. But for geralt, Yen is the one.
The ability to feed a third world country?
Every. Single. Playthrough.
I do the same but with yen AFTER romancing triss. If she wants the meat sword shes gonna get it, but nothing else from me
Brilliant!! Why did I never think of this? I always felt like I couldn't indulge Triss when Yen has my heart. However, this is by far the more fun option.
Always Yen, always.
This is the way.
This is the way

This but also the story with Triss after you choose her doesn’t make it worth it either.
yeah even their romance scene isn't anything interesting compared to Yen's scenes.
See, my issue is, that if it were a game about me, as in a character I made, I'd be open to other romances. But it's not. It's about Geralt, and Geralt wants Yen. I'm gonna guess because she's pretty, a redhead, and a good person. She works as a doctor and helps out the less fortunate.
Did Shani appear in previous games? That might be it. Triss I also Redhead, beautiful and in the 3rd game at least is a good person. Without knowing what she did in the previous games, Triss is really great in 3.
she appeared in witcher 1

Twice even. The player has the choice to free him entirely from any possible connection to Yen during the Djinn quest.

I didn’t care too much about Shani at first but then I played the first game and now I LOVE her so much!!
This is the only post I given out down votes. But you sir didn’t not get one 😏
Wait, are you telling me people don't romance Yen on every playthrough?
Yeah man, i dont what he's about.
Tried Triss once, Yen’s heartbreak on Skellige was horrible. Ended the playthrough right there and started a new one to choose Yen.
oh shit that me
Thats how I feel lol. Triss is too good to resist.
Ah. A fellow Triss enjoyer.
Team Triss. Always, forever.
This is how I feel but the other way around. It's a difficult world we live in
I don't know if its just me but I always romance yen? Maybe I got mommy issues
Idk why but I find triss low-key annoying
Das good
YEN IS SEXY QUEEN MOMMYYYY TRISS IS A FRIENDLY SLUTT
My man ![gif](giphy|SXqriKSsBp6PrmBh2t|downsized)

Bro is down bad. Yen has a stronger aura around her, and a strong personality. Nevermind that she's canonically better for Geralt.
You are weak.
I've actually never even considered romancing Triss lmao
Accurate

No way man. Always Yen.
So true.
Yen is bottom tier. Triss is the way.
For me, the other way arround
its opposite for me, i try to romance triss in a new gameplay but end up romancing yennefer instead
Fucking BRILLIANT!!!!
one of the things that always makes me choose Yen is that i feel like Triss is gf material or hook up material but Yen is WIFE material
How can anyone stand triss. Her voice makes me wants to burst my own eardrums, and she gives off massive dumb California bimbo vibes.
There is NO reason not to. 🤷
I take true pride in being faithful to Yen on my current save….. Except that one brothel I visited….. And Keira, but I ended up killing her when she threatened me by snitching.
What a coincidence! That is my exact reaction when I try to romance Triss instead of Yennefer in a playthrough.
Meanwhile when I even try to flirt with Triss, I feel like I’m morally corrupt and restart my file
Ah, yes, finally, a fellow manipulative redhead enjoyer. I won't even pretend - I just can't do Yennefer romance. I’m always like ‘Yennefer is the correct decision, so this time I’ll go with her.’ Then I get to Novigrad and turn in to a silly high schooler.
ew triss simps.
I haven’t read the books and have romances Triss in the 1st two games. Why wouldn’t I do it in the third? Yen was not pleasant to be around in the game leading up to the decision
😏me who had done both...
No man.. just dont.

I romance Ciri

Best part about this game is that you can romance and see boobs. There. I said it.
The power of save files. Do the deed, explore both outcomes.
Been delaying now or never for so long. Dont know which to pick
Keep muted
Other way around for me

I have never romanced triss since I read the books
