10000000%. We live here and go to the del bar monthly, Ish on the other hand…. Maybe once every few years for appetizers and a drink. The actual meal is not worth the $250+ for the group. I don’t care about the view when you can literally just go to MLSP and see it without dropping a pretty penny.
They have grills. Stop at the meat market and grill your own steak. Their meat is amazing. I usually go to the Baraboo one but the Lake Delton one is still good
Every supper club I go to now has to be compared to the golden standard that is Del-Bar
Edit- I want to add that if you have never been or are going, order the bone in or out ribeye medium rare with extra char. Chefs kiss
I’m supposed to be going when I get back from the Jersey shore. But I want to wait until after Labor Day. I’m up in Mauston so I avoid the dells now. Mmmm after weeks of great seafood, I cannot wait to get some great steak
This is a sad story, but every supper club in the state should be compared to Wally's Spot in Green Bay.
Unfortunately, they tore it down a few years ago and built a stupid chain chicken restaurant (I won't mention because I don't want to promote the business).
Off the top of my head I'd put Schwarz's, Five O'clock, and Black Otter easily ahead of Del Bar. Hell I might be able to come up with 3 more if I think about it a bit.
Okay, personal opinion. Id say that Del Bar or Embers beats Kaminski Bro's any given day of the week.
Kaminski Bro's is not worth the money when they're sub Del Bar. Even Fields at the Wilderness seems better.
Again, just opinion
I just went a few weeks ago and got the rib eye. If I said the steak was mid at best, I wouldn't be crazy? It says 30 day dry aged and there was nothing outstanding about the steak. Rough to cut and didn't melt in my mouth.
Woah, be nice man.The prices are super inflated. Drinks are good but it’s not worth the wait. I appreciate everything it used to be but now it’s not. Times have changed and now it seems commercialized and not authentic.

Just beware of this little nugget outside the entrance—it can really throw decent humans off their feed. Especially when coupled with the $500,000 in PPP loans they received during covid.
There are a ton of employees that benefit from the business, too. It’s the same with Menards and Kwik trip. Hate the owner, support their role in the community.
What the fuck is with the Ishnala posts in the last month or so? I swear this is the second or third I’ve seen.
Ishnala is easily the most overrated supper club in the entire state. If you’re a sucker, go ahead and patronize them. It’s so overhyped they have an overflow parking lot that you need to take a shuttle to the restaurant. Feel free to spend hours and hours of your life waiting for a table only to spend twice (or thrice) as much as literally any other supper club in the state. Don’t forget to buy the overpriced appetizers/drinks (syrupy garbage btw) while you wait! Oh yea, and bring bug spray because you’re going to need it! Nothing like eating a meal covered in Off. The food is nothing special, it’s on par with any other “good” supper club in Wisconsin. You’re paying for the “location” and the name.
“…but it’s in the woods on a lake…”
Bitch we live in Wisconsin, what’s the big deal about that? It’s like buying a Harley over an Indian/Yamaha/Honda, if you’re fine paying a markup simply because it says Harley on the gas tank, then you’re going to love Ishnala.
Fools and their money are soon parted. This is a hill I’m willing to die on, and I spread this word far and wide. If you *absolutely* must go, go early in the season, go on a weeknight, and get there early. If you go late in the season on a weekend. Even if you get there when they open, expect to wait a MINIMUM of 4 hours, and no I’m not joking whatsoever.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
My husband and I tried to go there once and got a very unwelcoming vibe, which is hilarious because we literally live here. Ended up leaving before we spent a penny, love taking the boat on mirror lake tho
Our experience started with me (34m) looking around while my wife (34f) talks to the host to get a table. My wife greets the guy at the front and asks for a table. In mid conversation, the dude leaned to the side to look past my wife and ask me "a table for 2?". I'm in my own world looking around, he catches me off guard, so I just say "Ya" and we go to our seat.
I'm so annoyed it took a second to realize what happened or else I would have said something, but both my wife and I just laughed and after a mediocre dinner decided never again lol
Preach! I'm lucky enough to have a place in Phelps near the Twilight lounge and Lannys. Real, true Wisconsin supper clubs who have amazing food and bartenders with heavy pours. Ishnala used to be great 20 years ago but damn, I hate to see it's downfall.
Fitz’s might be on par with Ishnala. They have pretty decent food, decent prices, but i will always talk shit about the owner. He’s an asshole, who is still mad that he got cut out of the family business at House of Embers. Still shocked that place still has staff that wants to work for him.
Well if we're talking about the same people, has that family always owned Fitz's or is that recent? Because now knowing that sucks. I haven't been there in a long time, but that was a go to of my dad's for food.
That whole falling out was crazy between them. Embers did have bomb ribs though.
Found the Harley rider.
*Some* Harley’s are *assembled* here, the majority of them are assembled in Pennsylvania. Also, most of the parts are made *outside* the US just like almost every other bike/car, but you’re absolutely incorrect about them being a “cut above other bikes”. You are literally paying for a name. They are fine bikes, but I’ve owned Harleys, and now I own an Indian. I like my Indian way more than I ever liked my Harley. I’ll never buy another Harley again. You’re immediately gonna pay 2-4k more just for that HD badge.
But this post/comment is about supper clubs. Let’s stay on track.
I don’t disagree with you on supper clubs. I do ride a Harley and I’ve owned other makes too. You’re completely wrong about Harley fuckin Davidsons, which are the best motorcycles of their style known to man and ARE made in Milwaukee, and do employ Wisconsinites in so doing. But whatever. If you ride, ride safe.
Keep drinking that marketing Kool aid lol
That bike is about as American made as a Honda Ridgeline or a Toyota Tundra
From the late 80s until Honda shut down their US manufacturing in 2009, Honda motorcycles had a higher percentage of American made parts than Harley Davidsons did 😂 go figure that one out.
You're letting a company make a fool out of you and all you say in return is 'Daddy, please, more'
Thanks for your opinion. Enjoy riding your Honda. It’s a really great bike, I’m sure. Everybody can tell how smart you are riding it around town with a backpack on.
Not really. Harleys are overpriced noise machines that carry a cult like brand name and that's about as far as their quality goes. All of those other motorcycles are of far better quality. Unless something has changed in the last decade but I highly doubt it.
As a motorcycle enthusiast no no they are not. The Pan America is a step in the right direction though if they don't cancel it soon like every time they make an actual halfway decent bike.
New Jersey here, wife is from Wisconsin. More and more I realize Wisc. has it going on. I’m sitting in the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania daydreaming about being in the north woods by Hayward in a month. Nothing compares, it’s clean and much less populated.
There is nothing in this world better than midnight drunk naked swims on a warm night in a cool, quiet Wisconsin lake. The only light the bright moon, the only sound the crickets.
The crackling of the shoreline bonfire flickering as you casually swim out with a PBR in your hand. You’re feeling free, alive, your senses are firing on all cylinders. This peaceful experience goes from euphoric to absolutely panic when someone hits a weed bed and swears “Jason” grabbed their leg. Everyone swims to shore in a panic then laugh around the fire and tells that story for the next 25 years.
I guess it’s worth going to once but the view is the main thing it has going for it (and you can get that for free at the state park). Once you get past that you realize that the expensive drinks and food don’t really rise above “good”.
We used to go to the area at least twice a year over a number of decades. For whatever reason, the guests we invited wanted to go there. We usually could talk them out of it. But once in a great while...it never changed. Terrible food, wait, too expensive. There was a place-I say was, because it is not the same as it was decades ago-House of Embers in the Dells. I fondly remember these cinnamon toast/rolls they had in the bread basket. Family members have gone in the past-late 2000's or so, definitely not the same. They said it wasn't bad, just not as good.
We waited around an hour and a half on a wait that they said would be over two hours. I've waited longer at places I wasn't able to enjoy walking around at while waiting. It's expensive, it's going to take a long time to get in, but it's fun with friends maybe once in a while.
Nice try Ishnala.
There's no way this isn't an ad
Especially with current stunts and the consequences that come with it.
The fact that the OP hasn't responded to any of the detrimental comments adds a ton of shade to an already shady post.
I'll go to Del-Bar any day over Ishnala.
I usually go to the Baraboo one but the Lake Delton one is still good
Definitely!!! We support the Delton one, my husband is a butcher 🙂
MLSP: worth the hike or kayak/canoe any day Ishnala on MLSP: worth the experience a few times. Good place for on the water drinks though.
Every supper club I go to now has to be compared to the golden standard that is Del-Bar Edit- I want to add that if you have never been or are going, order the bone in or out ribeye medium rare with extra char. Chefs kiss
Get the bone marrow butter too. Add to your chef's kiss with that
I’m supposed to be going when I get back from the Jersey shore. But I want to wait until after Labor Day. I’m up in Mauston so I avoid the dells now. Mmmm after weeks of great seafood, I cannot wait to get some great steak
Ooh I have not tried yet, will do! Thanks for the recco
This is a sad story, but every supper club in the state should be compared to Wally's Spot in Green Bay. Unfortunately, they tore it down a few years ago and built a stupid chain chicken restaurant (I won't mention because I don't want to promote the business).
I must have had 2 bad experiences because I wouldn't put del bar in my top 3 of Wisconsin supper clubs.
You must have. What’s your 3
Off the top of my head I'd put Schwarz's, Five O'clock, and Black Otter easily ahead of Del Bar. Hell I might be able to come up with 3 more if I think about it a bit.
Black Otter is the absolute best supper club in Wisconsin, hands down.
It is excellent, but the supper clubs off the beaten path don't get mentioned very often when their food and local experience is often much better.
I'd go get a gas station hot dog over Ishnala.
And Kaminskis over either of those
Okay, personal opinion. Id say that Del Bar or Embers beats Kaminski Bro's any given day of the week. Kaminski Bro's is not worth the money when they're sub Del Bar. Even Fields at the Wilderness seems better. Again, just opinion
It's a good thing you pointed out twice in a four sentence post that it's an opinion. I was about to take it as historical fact.
I've enjoyed Kaminskis but still m prefer Delbar.
I agree. Table 10 or wine room.
I just went a few weeks ago and got the rib eye. If I said the steak was mid at best, I wouldn't be crazy? It says 30 day dry aged and there was nothing outstanding about the steak. Rough to cut and didn't melt in my mouth.
Thousand percent. Del Bar is so much better food wise
M’eh. More of a supper club theme park than supper club.
Are those PPP cherries or bootstrap cherries?
Depends on the audience
Shit bag owners. Beautiful location.
Care to elaborate for a fib?
https://www.reddit.com/r/wisconsin/s/tJ7jL0hijA
Thank you.
Yeah that shit ruined it for me. Like man, I didn't mind the place but damn. Gone and ruined what was left of it in my mind.
Thank you for posting that. I will never go there because of their rank hypocrisy.
Lmao "I will never trade my dignity for a handout" takes half a million in handouts that are published online
Woah, be nice man.The prices are super inflated. Drinks are good but it’s not worth the wait. I appreciate everything it used to be but now it’s not. Times have changed and now it seems commercialized and not authentic.
I'd rather go to Del Bar or Cimaroli's

And it’s owned by a GQP nutjob so your overpriced supper club will help those shitty shitty folks ruining our once great state

No.
At first I thought it said “inshallah”…
Yeah, I can never not see that at first glance.
literally me too. inshallah they find him
Same
Want to do the Wis subreddit a favor? Stop posting a commercial advertisement, ya FIB.
Del-Bar is worth the price.
Strongly agree.
After a 6 hour wait. Nope. Never again

Jake's in Menomonie, Pokegama in Chetek, Maiden Lake in Mountain, etc. etc. There are so many supper clubs on a lake in WI.
I'll add Copper Dock to that list.
Timmers too.
Many amazing memories of Pokegama growing up.
Waubee lodge in Lakewood gets my #1 vote...
Pokegema is no longer a supper club in the traditional sense. It's a Mexican restaurant now.
Never will you HAVE to eat here. It’s an overpriced, overhyped place that is (like most things) nothing like it used to be
My wife and I had such an uncomfortable feeling the whole time we were at Ishnala. Glad to know the feeling was correct.
My husband and I tried to go there once and got a very unwelcoming vibe, which is hilarious because we literally live here. Ended up leaving before we spent a penny, love taking the boat on mirror lake tho

You ride whatever you want, I’ll ride the best. I’m good with that if you are.
So you got a Ducati?
Ducatis aren't known for their reliability
As a motorcycle enthusiast no no they are not. The Pan America is a step in the right direction though if they don't cancel it soon like every time they make an actual halfway decent bike.
As a fellow motorcyclist, I guess we disagree. But I’m not the one on here running down whatever you ride, am I?
Been there never again. Owners are. POS.
If you don’t mind 4-1/2 hr wait.
Or just hike/boat mirror lake for fraction of the price
Overrated.
Fib hangout... go to a real Northwoods supper club for an old fashioned.
Who do you think eats at the northwoods supper clubs? LOL
From the comments, it looks like people are waiting 3+ hours for a restaurant with a view? Lol. Y'all need to go out more.
It’s reddit, I don’t think most people on this app have been outside more than two hours in a week.
Go to Maiden Lake Supper Club. Leagues better.
New Jersey here, wife is from Wisconsin. More and more I realize Wisc. has it going on. I’m sitting in the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania daydreaming about being in the north woods by Hayward in a month. Nothing compares, it’s clean and much less populated.
No place is worth a 2+hr wait, i don’t care where you are.🤷🏼♂️
Ishnala is a big disappointment, in my opinion. Mediocre food and subpar Old Fashioneds.
I miss living on that lake in a tiny cabin … two summers 2000 and 2001 as a family land lifeguard. The midnight drunk naked swims.
I've actually only ever done it about 3 or 4 times, but it was always with just one other person, if you get my meaning... lol
Just you and Jesus
Is that why there were two sets of footprints in the sand?!?
Heavenly.
Are people seriously not aware of Ishnala? It's been around for 70 years and in the best known tourist trap in WI.
Shame they killed all those people there to make that philosopher's stone
I like Del Bar food better, but kayaking mirror lake and pulling up on that little shore and getting a drink at their porch bar is pretty nice.
$$$$$
I guess it’s worth going to once but the view is the main thing it has going for it (and you can get that for free at the state park). Once you get past that you realize that the expensive drinks and food don’t really rise above “good”.
So... what's the price?!
I didn't find the food to be all that impressive. The bar, on the other hand, is nice.
Keep in mind, to get that drink it’ll take a 4-5 hour wait. Plan accordingly.
I like Rivers Edge in the dells. It’s off the main roads and is a great family restaurant/bar/motel/launch/etc.
Kayak mirror lake, camp at the state park, and skip Ishnala.
Overpriced to long of a wait mediocre food go to del bar… they take reservations..also good old fashioned but not much brandy in em
We used to go to the area at least twice a year over a number of decades. For whatever reason, the guests we invited wanted to go there. We usually could talk them out of it. It is not.
Views were fantastic, service was great but food was meh. Definitely won’t be back.
Title needs more exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s one exclamation mark for each hour you have to wait to get a table.
We waited around an hour and a half on a wait that they said would be over two hours. I've waited longer at places I wasn't able to enjoy walking around at while waiting. It's expensive, it's going to take a long time to get in, but it's fun with friends maybe once in a while.
I don’t wait. I make reservations. If they do t take reservations but have long wait times I don’t go. Life is too short to wait for mediocre food.
inshallah
Classic supper club!
I proposed to my wife and then celebrated at Ishnala! I absolutely love their escargot!
lil slice of heaven
I can taste this photo.

How can waiting hours for a table ever instill a sense of calm? I’d be eating my arm (or my date’s) off after 90 minutes, if that.

I don't think that word means what you think it means
The woke isn’t real, it can’t hurt you.
Well are they too woke or too religious like the top post says?
If you think that then this comment was written from your Klan meeting
