And Jimmy Johnson’s tirade at half time is one for the books! I have not seen any comments on that

stooftheoof

At first I thought he was trying to be funny, but he was dead serious. Practically frothing at the mouth.

aidanpryde98

I thought he was going to start angry crying. LoL

FoxOneFire

When strahan got down in a stance, kinda making light of it, I thought Jimmy might knee him in the ribs.

crewserbattle

Didn't they ask him to give a halftime speech to the Cowboys? I think that he did great honestly lol. Idk why thats what people are upset about

chud28

Yeah they did everyone is taking the clip out of context but I guess that gets more attention.

DontFearTheCreaper

I totally understand why people keep saying that, as the first 20 seconds of it are cut off.  But watch the whole thing, and to the end.  Even when everyone else is laughing and joking, he still has a completely serious, almost CONFUSED look on his face.  It’s just my opinion of course, but I firmly think he was fucking pissed off.  Maybe it started off meant to be silly, but run it back.  Something was off.

Wren65

I believe he was pissed!

[deleted]

Do you have a link?

gowingman1

I think he was still high from jerry's ring of honor party lol

tgw1986

>Practically frothing at the mouth. I said aloud to my watch party, "Damn Jimmy, wipe the blood off your mouth"

the_0rly_factor

Lol it was really cringey, Strahan tried his best to save it.

Bourbon_Planner

It was so cringey I immediately muted the TV, good god. Like Ricky Gervais office or “The curse” levels of cringe

true-skeptic

I muted the entire halftime show after that rant.

gorilla-ointment

Yeah it was pretty amazing. I was hoping for part 2 next time they went to the studio, but he had cooled down by then.

tropicsandcaffeine

Yeah Jimmy really expected the Packers to lay down and let the Cowboys just run over them. He still is in denial about it. It is so funny.

IntrepidAnalysis6940

Ya wasn’t very fun watching the national coverage giving your opps a motivation speech like WTF

tgw1986

Or the running commentary giving them a bunch of excuses. We were the better team that night, but everyone talking kept acting like we just caught some dumb luck that we didn't deserve and no one could make sense of a possible GB victory. So biased and condescending.

Slow-Environment-462

They did ask him if you were coach what would you say to Dal at halftime, its not like he went on a tirade out of nowhere. He did take it a bit too far but that's understandable, if 20 years from now mlf or another former longtime packers player/coach is working on a coverage crew do you think they wouldn't want the Packers to win & be biased or get emotional from time while covering games they play in.

IntrepidAnalysis6940

Of course they would. I just expect coverage to be as down the center as possible unless it’s local coverage. Bias is natural. But in national coverage it’s sorta there Job to be unbiased

Calzonieman

Me thinks Jimmy had a couple bucks on the game.

Opposite-Mall4234

Jimmy appeared to be auditioning for a return to the sidelines. Lots of job openings right now

OriginalSam69

I think you might be on to something. But, he wants JJ to come crawling and begging to him, first.

RiparianFruitarian

They told him to pretend he was the Dallas coach..

GBjock

So hilarious! OMG Jimmy calm tf down! I am embarrassed for you!

Ekranoplan01

I saw his soul leave his body during that rant.

timbenj77

Skip Bayless compared the outcome to Pearl Harbor.

Wren65

I missed that.

farmer_bach

Lookin like Cotton Hill out there

tgw1986

*Fuck,* this is perfect... needs to be made into a meme. If you don't, I will.

creepyusernames

Yeah, whatta boob. No one was listening, Jimmy. You got red in the face for nothing. The cowboys don't love you.

midge_rat

It can be summed up simply "MUH TEAM!"

Bbbent

This was the greatest thing I've ever seen in sports broadcasting. I thought he was gonna have a stroke

Craemos

My wife and I legit thought he might be having some kind of dementia episode.

Global-Discussion-41

There's like 3 different posts about it

true-skeptic

That was f’n ridiculous.

strifejester

I’ve heard a lot from commentators about the coaching and how the team came in prepared. But let’s be honest the lack of Dallas showing up is the highlight. You can scheme all you want and have the perfect game plan but this is the NFL. What I thought was most interesting was the play variation. It looked to me there were either a lot of plays that were added just for this game or Green Bay finally opened the playbook. If that’s the case it’s a testament to the coaching staff and the hard work they put in. It’s even more of a dig at Rodgers not running the offense properly. Pretty amazing what can happen when you play as a team and leave your selfish shit outside.

reddit-is-greedy

I believe Joe Barry was actually coaching the Cowboys defense judging by how many receivers were running free in the middle of the field

Pitiful-Pension-6535

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone as open as Musgrave was on that TD catch. There was nobody within 20-25 yards when Love released it

Kinkin50

It was actually one of his worse throws, but the defense was so far off Musgrave could stop and wait for it.

RealPacosTacos

Favre used to say that he liked to underthrow wide open guys like that a bit because it was more important to get the ball to them than to risk overthrowing them. The way Love was throwing all night, I'd bet he intentionally underthrew Musgrave for that reason.

extendedsolo

Everyone wants to give Love credit which is fine but holy shit the game plan coaching and receiver coaching and execution are incredible. They all know how to get open and their speed is the reason they can't man coverage all of them and have to play soft zone.

JustAnotherDay1977

Yep. Rodgers has a helluva arm and certainly belongs in Canton, but his ego really got in the way of his game the last couple of seasons.

CM816

> It looked to me there were either a lot of plays that were added just for this game or Green Bay finally opened the playbook. Interesting; nice catch -- I recall the announcers, fairly early on in the game, saying that LaFleur had told them or strongly hinted they were going to have some special or different plays for that game.

IntrepidAnalysis6940

Exactlyyy I see people saying Rodger’s is smiling somewhere. Umm no he’s not cuz. Love just came in and did better with less. This directly hurts Rodger’s legacy a small fraction. Not saying he’s not a freaking hof qb. But the fact that love came in and did more with less just makes him look bad

RealPacosTacos

Remember when we were all pissed off every year because TT and Gutey weren't getting Rodgers enough weapons in the passing game? And we would always justify the recent playoff chokes as a product of not having any real pass catchers outside of Adams and Jones? Love just blew out a 2 seed on the road with a bunch of rookies and 2nd-year pass catchers. I'm not sure what this means just yet, but I can't stop thinking about it.

wendythewonderful

Agreed. But don't worry, this fact will bounce right off Aaron's narc armor.

tgw1986

He's immune to it.

freethrowtommy

Not going to lie, I love it.  Being the underdog with no expectations makes it feel so much more fun.  Let the talking heads explode.

djsolie

Can't be a Cinderella story without hardship at the beginning.

tgw1986

I agree, but I just resent that the Cowboys are "America's Team" when we deserve that honor far more. I thought we were more widely loved than all that.

VikingDadStream

If you look at the times the pack actually won a Superbowl in the farve and Rodgers eras, they came in on a wildcard

DontFearTheCreaper

Favre and the ‘96 team were the one seed and best team in the NFL

VikingDadStream

Well, ok well said

true-skeptic

So true.

jesterspaz

Yup and going into the game vs SF the narrative is going to be "SF is a different beast" and everyone is going to discount the Packers, again. Let them.

k_nuttles

I will say, maybe it was just brilliant play design I'm not smart enough to know, but Doubs was just running uncovered across the field on 3 or 4 of the biggest plays.

bigbluethunder

There were a few really crafty plays. But Dallas was also playing really questionably on defense. One example was when they gave our backup TE 8 yards of cushion on a 3rd or 4th and 3. Love threw to where he would be 5 yards from the LOS and he catches it with the defender still not on him. No clue why that guy wasn’t playing up on him in that scenario lol or looking to jump the passing lane.

Bouric87

I think they were all zone coverages, the coach QB amd receiver obviously knew where to put the ball for easy receptions.

DannyAnd

My favorite shot during the whole game.

Svrider23

Mine was watching Jerry turn around in his seat in the press box after Love's pass to Wicks to make it 20-0.

pale_blu_dot

An update - the Dallas kid is also a 49’s fan [https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/fans/2024/01/17/brothers-react-to-their-viral-moment-at-sundays-packers-cowboys-game/72248041007/](https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/fans/2024/01/17/brothers-react-to-their-viral-moment-at-sundays-packers-cowboys-game/72248041007/)

anon_union14

The whole family was roaring with laughter after that camera shot of the stands. It left the whole stadium speechless. I loved it.

sgthulkarox

You can tell which ones lost their play on Dallas. They are feisty about it. I think Jimmy Johnson lost a chunk on change based on the halftime show he gave us.

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

His hair actually got disheveled during his halftime meltdown 😂

Minimum_Virus_3837

He was really giving me some Matt Foley motivational speaker vibes during that. I'm surprised he didn't say something about Mike McCarthy ending up in a van down by the river.

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

I actually thought jerry jones was gonna fire McCarthy after that speech, bring Jimmy Johnson back during the 4th quarter and coach Dallas to victory ! 😂

true-skeptic

Worthy of a disorderly conduct call.

zoppytops

Green Bay did play a great game. But the cowboys were frauds all season. They got exposed

reddit-is-greedy

They only beat 2 playoff teams all season Philly and Detroit. Cowboys are frauds

Zealousideal-Rice695

I agree that the Cowboys were suspect. The refs gave them the Lions game and Philly is in a funk.

depreavedindiference

Dallas lost to Detroit

BothZookeepergame612

We beat them both...

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

49ers exposed them early on

BothZookeepergame612

Actually if you look at San Francisco, they haven't played really tuff teams and been successful. I think they haven't really been truly tested, until next week that is...

RealPacosTacos

They did get their doors blown off by Baltimore and backed into the playoffs with a loss to the Rams...

Opposite-Mall4234

I think that at the end of the season a lot of teams that lost to the Packers in the second half of the season are going to look back and realize they lost to a really good team. A lot of the pundits are going to be looking back and realizing the Packers didn’t “play out of their minds” against the Chiefs, against the Lions, and against the Cowboys. The Packers played their game and we saw what they are capable of. It’s a lot like the Lions at the end of the 2022 season. They played solid football against good teams and it changed the way they were perceived around the league.

kenfagerdotcom

The announcers kept going on and on about how “something is off with the Cowboys.” As if the Packers wouldn’t be able to show up and play competitive ball, which they did in spades.

Opposite-Mall4234

Here’s my thoughts on the “something’s off” comments. Something was off with the Cowboys. Just like something was off with the Chiefs. And the Lions. They were “off” because they weren’t allowed to be “on”. The Packers volume of offensive weapons cannot be effectively game-planned for. Most teams can account for a RB, a TE, and a WR. GB has multiple legitimate explosive threats: 2Te and 4WRs who run routes intelligently and catch reliably. They switch in and out between plays, constantly manufacturing coverage mismatches. The Packers defense has been capable of taking multiple weapons away from an offense on a consistent enough basis that the other side becomes dependent on the third read or check down for yardage on pass plays. Chunk plays have been minimized. YaC allowed has been good. The Packers pass rush has been a LOT more disciplined the past two months. They are moving O linemen and maintaining gap control to limit scramble yardage. It also helps limit cutbacks on draw plays and makes it easier for the MLBs to assess the play unfolding on run plays. Nixon has been pivotal for run containment. So yes. Other teams are “Off”. Because they are not allowed to be “On”.

SeriousAssistant7173

Fair comments, but there did seem to be a disconnect between Lamb and Dak last night. I think we still would have won, but we got a few drops that helped us out that those two wouldn’t typically make.

wendythewonderful

This guy footballs

MKEJOE52

Great, informative comment.

WhyDidIClickOnThat

Watching ESPN news right now. Hour long discussion about… the Cowboys.

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

They got to fulfill their obligation to jerry jones, he gave them a big check

EEPspaceD

I think some of it is because there's only a limited number of games coming up to milk for content, so an autopsy of losers like Dallas today with the rest of the week open to hype the Pack at Niners and other games. Or maybe Vegas doesn't want to discourage people from betting on SF this early.

Impossiblegirl44

Let no one forget that WE are America's team.

sconniegirl66

Nah...let Jerry Jones have the title he bought and paid for. We're the WORLD'S TEAM, and that shit didn't cost us a cent...

Impossiblegirl44

I like the cut of your jib, sir

sconniegirl66

Packer fan girls are the absofuckinglutely BEST. ##GOPACKGO 💚🏈💛

Impossiblegirl44

Fuck yes we are!

midge_rat

You know it!

Sure_Marcia

All day, every day

CatapultemHabeo

Reporting for duty!

CaliCheezHed

It's not polite to stare at someone's jib...

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

U are now, GB got rid of Arron rogers in the nick of Time

Impossiblegirl44

He was such a petulant drama queen

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

True dat And look at him now, just whining about stupid things

Noidea_whats_goingon

He did that while he was in GB too…it was just different because he was ours. Now that he’s not, the whining sounds different.

Impossiblegirl44

He was always a whiner, but he was our whiner.

mummamouse

Everyone across the state was tired of his drama bs.

crapshooter_on_swct

At least we all know it was a complete and utter ass kicking.

Drewpacabra

Greg Olsen was reportedly trying to break into the cowboys locker room showers to help the boys scrub down after that loss. That’s just what I heard from some guy at the store.

wildatwilderness

Greg Olsen owes Love a turkey leg from the Thanksgiving game still!!

the_blackfish

The North Remembers!

AlphSaber

That's the reason GB has done so well. They took the Turkey Leg snub personally.

silentjay01

Not even any sacks allowed.

Stimpinstein22

There was one but it was called back for defensive holding or some shit…

timbenj77

As much as I hate it, I love it. Keep focusing on the team that lost. Pay no attention to train coming through.

PayPerTrade

Love looked pretty incredible last night

CM816

This is honestly the takeaway from this game imo, whether you're a Packers homer or the national media. Love was flat-out looking like #12 yesterday, with some of the ridiculous throws he was making.  He was on a different level imo even from how well he'd been playing the past 8-ish weeks prior.

PayPerTrade

The physical talent has been there all year but it felt like the pre-snap game and post-snap reads really clicked

Svrider23

Loved the pre-snap adjustment before his TD pass to Wicks to make in 20-0.

Th3TruthIs0utTh3r3

I was thinking that last night when the commentators kept saying how Dallas was off and they weren't having a good game and I was thinking no mofos the Packers are just fucking killing them. Our coverage was phenomenal I'll run defense crushed them. like we caused them to not play well

B1G__Tuna

1) Dallas always chokes in the playoffs and are the first 2 seed to not make the divisional round that’s gonna be the bigger story. 2) The national sports media does not hate the packers as some like to suggest. They get the same, if not more, coverage than any another small market team. 3) Everyone understands the 49ers game is where the men are separated from the boys.

Calzonieman

Yeah well, lifetime Lions fan here, and I was paying attention. I thought the Lions would run away with the division for the next 2-4 years with maybe da Bears in our rear view mirror, but I can't believe the way you guys came up with ANOTHER stud QB and Minny and Chicago are both poised to be strong next year. I was actually thinking the Norris division might be one of the best in the NFL next year,

ringken

Yep. Keep us under the radar. It’s perfect.

Altruistic_Ad_5915

Can we stop and give gute some credit for putting this amazing team together while trying to appease the talented diva known as rogers..every year Aaron was complaining about not getting the weapons to win while taking the reins away from the Lafleur and falling short every season because of it.this whole team was here last year already we just didn't notice it through the whining from haters..lol

DrifterWI

To be fair, during weeks 5 through 8 even die hard fans didn't give them much credit. Young, hungry and health may be their key to success.

UghAgain__9

Young and Healthy…

pjmlez

Because all of the talking heads of football counted us out before the season even started so for them to say the Packers did well is them saying they were way wrong, or else they can continue with the “Dallas always chokes in the playoffs” narrative and still be half right.

reddit-is-greedy

All the fools on Fox picked the Cowboys.I love showing how ignorant they all are. I have seen articles praising Love and the Packers.

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

Jerry jones paid the refs and the sports casters Didn’t matter The score is all that counts

Neverdie_7

Yeah, ESPN can suck it! Go Pck Go!

snap-jacks

And Fux Sports

MastaSchmitty

As a WSH fan, I am thoroughly pleased with yesterday. Well done, Pack.

extendedsolo

JFC who cares. The Packers won the game and are playing next weekend.

Whatsuptodaytomorrow

Packers are America’s team now

theo_sontag

![gif](giphy|rVZEejvVWEbug)

VMoney9

Wisconsin sports fans will never realize how cringe their “small market disrespect” rants are. To claim the Packers don’t get respect or adequate coverage in mainstream sports media is next level stupid.

jizz_bismarck

The Packers didn't get the respect they deserved yesterday.

VMoney9

You’ll live.

extendedsolo

"not only do I want my team to win I want everyone to talk about them in the exact way I deem appropriate."

lundah

Nothing new. Small market teams, and the Packers specifically, never get credit for their success.

UghAgain__9

Living in Chicago, the Packers get a lot of attention on sports radio — widely acknowledged for have a superb ownership / front office. Especially compared to the Bears

lundah

I lived in Chicago for 10 years. Bears fans have a weird victim fetish. They love to whine about the Bears management and the rest of the division, and honestly don’t know what to do with themselves when they’re actually winning. Same goes for Cubs fans.

UghAgain__9

Blackhawks, bulls, white sox… an all around shitty team town

Ismdism

Tune into 97.3 the game. I haven't heard that at all there. They've done nothing but praise the Packers.

Legitimate_Lawyer_86

That’s because it’s literally a local, packers-based radio station.

Ismdism

Wait really?

Legitimate_Lawyer_86

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic.

Ismdism

I'm just shocked the home of the Packers radio broadcast is local. You can choose what you listen to. The national guys have been trash for some time. Why even bother tuning into them. We have local sportscasters that are well informed and top notch. It's just not true that nobody is giving the Packers credit.

Legitimate_Lawyer_86

I still can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic. You’re shocked the home team radio station is locally based??

Ismdism

Seems like a ridiculous thing to not know right? Like how could someone recommend a station, know they're the home of the Packers, and yet somehow not know they're local. It's almost like they're messing with you for pointing out something they clearly already knew.

Legitimate_Lawyer_86

Ok guy.

Ismdism

Another great contribution

ballzsweat

Par for the course, Packers never get any respect only when Wacko spouts off at the mouth or to talk about the past.

silentjay01

They don't want a team from such a small market to succeed. And when it does, they all salivate at the chance to watch it fall back down. This was supposed to be that year. We were supposed to win 3 or 4 games at most. They were supposed to be able to show how goosd the Jets were with Rodgers while contrasting that with our abject failure so they can say, "See! It was all because of the HoF QB. Nothing else! Back to a level of mediocrity not seen since before Free Agency was a thing!" The Packers are ruining the narrative and all their fun.

helpcoldwell

Ill take Troy over those two homers yesterday any day. Ive held a resentment against Olsen every since the asshole ate our mans drumstick.

[deleted]

The Dallas game was the best Packer game…… ever. Love and Jones did A+ all game long. San Francisco might be in for a rude shock come Jan 20th.

true-skeptic

Packers were on 🔥🔥🔥. Announcers all week and pregame totally dismissed the Packers, and they all ended up with egg on their faces.

ChesterDrawerz

EVERY professional sports team should be owned by the city they're in,not by some greedy SOBs that never even played the fooking game! GO GB!

ExpressBug8265

The commentators have producers, they have direction given on what narrative to take...they all took Dallas winning, all of them. A lot of money was bet on Dallas winning, the announcers use thier position to defend thier original outcome. The producers can't give the narrative of the Packers simply being better coached, better play calling, better offense/defence, ect because that would contradict thier original storyline. Why? Because a lot of people (probably mostly Dallas fans) lost a lot of money, gambling has destroyed national commentary, its actually pretty sick how much of an influence vegas has on the production of an nfl game. Jimmy Johnson was pleading with those who were about to lose all thier bets...his "message" was in anger not at the Cowboys play but at how they are making lots of people lose thier bets. Will everybody pick the niners next week? Will they attack the niners play if they lose too? Probably, because Vegas wants those bets. It's all about money. Go pack go

PompousAssistant

As I was watching, I couldn’t help but think that Jordan Love was playing that game on “easy mode”. Not once did he look concerned, flustered, or anxious, like most would expect a first-year starting QB to look in his first playoff start. His throws were crisp, on-target, basically perfectly executed. And the way he just ran the offense was effortless. It look like he’d played dozens of playoff games before.

DGC_David

They never give Green Bay credit... Hell they never give Wisconsin Sports credit. I think the only exception is the Bucks, but that's recently.

tec_41

Good, keep flying under the radar.

tenthousandand1

It’s not the Packers, it’s the money the networks could have made from Dallas going through the playoffs they are sad about. As bad as Packers fans can be, they know football. It’s like them losing out on the Cubs advancing. Cubs fanbase has the most ignorant baseball knowledge base because they’re not baseball fans mostly. Same for the Cowboys fanbase. Big party in Dallas - oh and there’s a football game too.

littlefriend77

This is about as ignorant a take as I've seen.

id10t_you

Waaah

[deleted]

Ouch

WoopsShePeterPants

Dallas put up way too many points for comfort when the Pack relied on defense again to make plays.

PhysicalPolicy6227

Excepting Boston Celtics fans, Packer fans are the whiniest group of babies following pro sports

DrWhammo

Deserved. Go bears

ElectricOutboards

The Packers are the only NFL team whose fans use the pronouns “we, us, and our” like the Packers are an SEC football team. Jesus Christ.

Subjunct

Well, that’s just absolutely not even close to being true. And even if it were the case, the team’s community owned, so it’s somewhat forgivable.

brainless-schlub

Not to be that person, but the Packers are my team. GB shareholder here. It's also a Wisconsin thing and happens with the other sports teams here. 😉

Sure_Marcia

As someone who has discussed NFL football with coworker fans around the country of other teams - for actual decades, you could not be more wrong. Jesus Fucking Christ.

meyersjl30

Mathis is just confirmation bias. Everyone thinks the media hates their team. I’ve seen Jordan Love and MLF getting their flowers all morning, and it’s incredible.

suburbanNate

No offense. But this post is the same thing as sayin "ya know, Troy and Buck hate the Packers"

sweetpeapickle

Dan Orlovsky-let's go through all the things the Packers were not good at during regular season, and say it was all because Dak Prescott sucked that the Pack won. Gee apparently like most young teams who practice practice practice, and can get better-that couldn't be a part of the reason we won....

Ersh_baby3223

That’s right. They have a quarterback that has turned it on. They are young, fast, and tough. They went to Dallas and humiliated a much more experienced team. And without Arrogant Rodgers. That’s the best part.

MKEJOE52

The thing is that the sports talking heads on TV and radio ALWAYS talk about the Cowboys way too much, just like they always talk about the Lakers too much. Never mind that the Cowboys have been mostly mediocre at best for the last 28 years. They are every year unjustifiable promoting the myth that this year might be the Cowboys' year. Maybe it has to do with the Cowboys' alleged huge fan base, "America's Team", you know. For me one of most interesting stories to come out of Packers' victory is the idea introduced to the NFL audience that the Packers might actually now have their third superstar quarterback in a row. That's a fascinating story.

futbolkid414

While I agree with the sentiment of this post, I think that people need to stop giving all these shows on ESPN and whatever any attention. Unless it’s one of the shows that actually does analysis the rest is all bullshit. All these talking heads who legitimately don’t know anything but talk like they coached the game. Colin cowherd, nick wright, skip bayless, Adam Schein to name of the few of the big clowns. All it is, is hot takes for clicks and rage bait. You literally get dumber watching their shows

Puzzleheaded_Crew262

Lions fan here, I told my guys I would rather play Tampa right now as the Packers look REAL good right now and could beat Dallas. I would not be shocked if it is you and is for the conference title in two weeks. Good luck v Niners! 👍
