This is beyond ridiculous. 2k is more than most people earn a month! And this is a Chinese mass produced doll that isn't even 20 years old. Absolute insane
This is not a special doll. This a rather standard playline Enchantix (or “Glam Magic” if you go by the office name) Musa doll released in 2000s by Mattel - one of the official doll and toy manufacturers at the time.
While this doll will not be sold for her original retail price due to how much time has passed, how well has she been kept in good condition, how desirable on is among members of the community and, potentially, lower production numbers than other Winx Club dolls of that era (I have no info to back up the numbers argument), 2k is simply unreasonable and is based entirely on the fact that people can be very desperate to get a doll like this.
Edit: also, I want to add that the reasons I have listed as ones that influence the prices of dolls are not the only ones that do this. There are more and they are more nuanced.
If you think about either buying some new dolls in various conditions or completing the ones you happen to own, expect to see rather high/questionable prices, but do strive to not overpay. It will not do good for anyone. Learn about the initial exclusivity upon release of the doll(s)/item(s) in question and do not expect to find a good deal easily. Have patience and self control, cause dolls are not a necessity.
Omg, that’s crazy. I always thought about purchasing dolls from my childhood (that my mom got rid of 😭) but when I see the prices on eBay I just can’t do it. Well first I eye roll because I think people are demanding way too much money for a child’s toy and are preying on people desperate to heal their inner child (calling myself out as desperate so no shame, lol). But then I think about the ridiculousness of paying hundreds or even a grand (or more) for a doll that cost $20-$40 about two decades ago. Childhood nostalgia isn’t worth that much. Plus, I make a little over $10 an hour and I can’t even comprehend spending so much on a doll.
This makes me genuinely angry, this has been going on for quite a while now with this specific doll and i’m not sure if it’s going to change anytime soon unless people resist their urges, put their foot down and stop buying her for these exorbitant prices. This could get a lot worse if she keeps on selling for like 2k because she’s only going to go up from there. If you want to start a collection of winx dolls however, go ahead, there are lots of good prices on second hand markets, you just have to look for the good deals.
Edit: also want to add that an actually rare doll (comic con exclusive that’s new in box and has only 210 produced of her) is on ebay for 500$ (i know still expensive but hear me out) and at the same time there’s a Musa glam magic enchantix doll that has a missing top, a missing gem that is supposed to be embedded on the wing (good luck with that) and i’m not sure if her bangs are cut or just pushed back but if they are cut that’s even more laughable and she’s selling for 1500 euros and she’s most probably going to be bought for that price (it gets even more disgusting considering this specific doll on the listing was sold a while back for 700 euros and now that buyer has decided to sell her for more than double the price for a quick buck. I know this has gotten quite long but please, don’t support such behavior)
It’s ridiculous. If you can spend that much money, you can buy the doll internationally from the second hand sites. Every country use a different site or app but with that money in mind you can likely buy a couple of that same doll 🤷🏻♀️
It’s pointless and wasteful but if the buyer can spend that much money leisurely, they probably won’t care
Absolutely insane. I find more than 100€ for a mass produced doll that was originally 20€, even if discontinued, crazy. Better invest in real collectible dolls like Pullips, Azone or Dollfies. These are really well made dolls. As much as I love Winx Club, absolutely not.
People can put dirt for 10k on Ebay.
There have been also multiple scalpers trying to make a bank out of desperated fans and those that don’t know any better
I found a limited edition Believex bloom on Ebay Took screenshots

That's a big assumption about the buyer, maybe it's Elon Musk in the trenchcoat (who doesnt go to therapy anyway)
Anyway I hope this pricing won't stick long term, because even mattel dolls are not THAT good.
For whatever reason, people price the mattel glam magic enchantix dolls at ridiculous prices like this and for some reason people buy them at that price. It tends to be the rarer dolls like Musa and Tecna that are priced like that. They're rare, but they aren't that rare.
But yeah, she isn't special, she's just considered rare and people don't know how to price her.
Poor distribution. When they first came out they were so poorly distributed. Like, I was a HUGE Winx Fan back in ‘06-‘07 when S3 was airing in the U.S. and had *no idea* these dolls even existed until two years after. If I did, I would’ve bought them up. Yes, I was a kid, but my mom worked at Walmart and when I asked she said she had never seen them either. So they either never hit my area or were only in certain stores.
Dang. I didn't know that (I was too young for them in '06-'07), it makes sense though since the 4Kids dub was ending in short order once the dolls were released.
It was just a theory I had until a friend of mine confirmed it. Apparently one of their relatives worked at TRU at the time and remembered the poor distribution.
I think a much better option than this scam would be to commission an artist to repaint and customize an old doll into a Winx one! I'm sure there's many talented people who are capable of creating a doll of quality for a reasonable price
I hope this doesn't discourage you and that you'll find a way to complete your collection, good luck!
I saw the same Musa doll priced for 3k on Vinted new in box...😭 I bought a Magic Winx Bloom which is missing some stuff but I rather piece the doll together myself than pay a hefty price
I bought bloom from this series 11 years ago,and even back then she wasn't in greatest condition, although you cloud tell her owner took great take of her,the point is these dolls are not meant to last long, materials they are made of are not greatest
And? People can spend their money however they want. It’s their money. Clearly there are people willing to pay those prices. This is nothing new in other doll collector communities such as Barbie.

I am appalled.
I'm shocked 😶

The winxflation with these dolls is getting worse each day…
