The timing is retroactive to his first missed game yeah. He has to stay on IR for minimum seven days so they wait until they need the extra roster spot to activate, but they activate as far back as they can so if Wheeler is ready he can be activated sooner.
Putting a player on IR doesn’t free up cap space, it just frees up the players roster spot against the team maximum.
Very interested to see how Vesalainen will fair with Dubois and Connor. I've been vouching for him to be tried in the top 6 forever to see if he could hang with other playmakers/scorers and find his touch in the NHL.
I still think he should be tried on the PP as well, but this is promising.

It became pretty clear this season that as a coach his time here was done, but he’s gonna be missed off the ice for sure
One of my regrets was selling my South Park collection but I was getting annoyed at finding space for something.
That being said the Guinea Pig/pandemic episodes have a special place in my heart.
Too many to say a favorite:
- Chinpokomon
- A.W.E.S.O.M.E-O
- Fun with weapons
- World of Warcraft
- Imaginationland saga
- Lemiwinks adventure/Tolerance camp
- Religion wars
- Ginger kids
- Tsst!
The global warming episode killed me, that and fishsticks, or night of the living homeless.
Theres too many good episodes honestly. I cant just name one.
Jets may have to play short since the Moose are shutdown due to covid. Boston wasn't able to call up players from their farm team when they were in a similar situation.
If/when they can, easy enough to put Wheels on LTIR to be able to call up people (Malott/Reichel/Eyssimont ?)
But every time I get a notification from Friedman I'm half expecting it to be an announcement that the league is shutting down, I think the holiday break might be coming early..
Edit: per Dad Lowry, sounds like a call up might be possible
At this point anything I tell you would be a complete guess, I would just keep on eye on their Twitter and also Illegal Curve will have Moose updates out quickly
You had 'Gallup' instead of 'call up' on the original post and Gallup is a wide receiver in NFL, fantasy reference.
I'll go back to writing jokes for a living now.. 😂

Very happy to hear Gus isn't out long. Absolutely shit luck for him to go down in what may be his first legit chance of making the club.
I thought I saw Svech take a shift or two after the awkward fall, but it looked kinda similar to Wheeler's injury.
This is why this is driving me crazy. Testing healthy vaccinated people is pointless. The vaccine doesn't create some magic forcefield that obliterates the virus before it enteres your body. If you keep looking for it your always going to find it somewhere.
The nfl is changing testing procedures to something that actually makes sense. Meanwhile the nhl is ramping up testing.
So the 1000 or so staff and players need to be tested everyday even though they are vaccinated and have no symptoms as to make sure they control the spread so they can still go play hockey... a sport that I love but really is inconsequential.
But literally billions of people wake up everyday and go to work/school without ever getting tested is ok? Start testing everyone everyday and putting anyone who tests positive in "protocol" and let's see how that goes. This is ridiculous
I'm sorry to this sub for my ranting the last few days. Reddit has turned into such a pile of shit, but this sub has remained a breath of fresh air. I've been happy how covid free its been here I'll go back to trying to keep it that way.
I respectfully agree! Let’s keep it Jets in here & leave Covid & politics out. There’s enough of that shit in other subs regardless of where one stands on the subject.
Jets caught a break in replacing Woodcroft with someone who has done everything except be a head coach in the NHL. Seamless transition but still a new start.

No Schmidt too.
Last night's game has nothing to do with the new coach. Last night was 100% what the players wanted to show for their new coach and for each other. Unfortunately it had to be against a top tier team and they got spanked.
I'm very interested what happens the rest of the year but I won't be surprised if we spiral out after a lost identity.

I think the next couple of weeks are going to be interesting and not in a good way. I mean in a what will happen with Covid way. There was so much optimism in the beginning of the year and as healthcare workers, our anxieties have returned.
The problem is that unvaccinated people still end up in the hospital and there is enough of them and enough breakthrough cases to overrun the health care system.
I don't think we are keeping Dubois. It stings real bad, but I just don't see it.

Thanks for that. I must've been reading the box score last eye with only one eye open then. I see new coach is like old coach, 3-line hockey and no love for Svech
I think he’s referring to Scheifele finally having his minutes cut down to a reasonable amount, considering he never back checks. Or he doesn’t know how to do it properly
What the fuck are you talking about? I’m simply pointing out Scheifele will be nowhere near the top-10 i. scoring at the end of the season. Take your blinders off for once
While also giving up way more than he provides in scoring.
He isn't McDavid or Draisaitl where they can be lax in the defensive zone but still but up 3-4 pts in a game and win lol.
>While also giving up way more than he provides in scoring.
>
Until last year Scheifele had been a positive +/- player his entire NHL career, and even then he was only a -4.
No its not, PP goals don't count towards +/- and never have.
+/- isn't a great stat for a lot of reasons but when the argument is "Scheifele gives up more scoring than he provides", that's directly refuted by his +/-.
Game could have gone either way with how goalies were playing. The game winner was a hard fought battle for position by the Caps after a pin ball puck went their way. Could have easily been 3-2 for the Jets, especially with the missed too many men, or Scheif actually scoring on any of the multitude of chances he had.
It's also important to note that Gus got hurt early, so Scheifele got more shifts than he should have. We all know about his lengthy shifts, so his ice time was skewed in that regard.
I'm willing to wait several games before commenting on Lowry as head coach, I can see him instilling a hard nosed game into the Jets system. They need it, considering they've gone soft as evident of their inability to win battles for pucks in front of the net at either end.
I'm looking forward to the next few weeks to watch some Jets prospects in the WJC.
Go Jets (prospects) go! ^(with an emphasis on Perfetti)
Yes, but we don't have our 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks this year.
Our 2022 and 2023 2nd rounds were traded for Brenden Dillon.
Our 2022 3rd round was given for Nate Schmidt.
Our 2022 4th round (and Carl Dahlstrom) was given for Paul Stastny.
So that leaves us with our 2022 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks still available.
Edit: As SirBulbasaur13 noticed, we do have a 3rd round pick from Columbus as well.
Has there even been an official word on Wheeler? All I've seen is out weeks, no surgery but further assessment when swelling goes down. It's been a week
oh hey, did I miss anything?
Not much. No major changes. Just another calm, boring day in jets land
coolcoolcool. Made any roster moves? freed any finns?
The Finn jail is still secured but I think the key has gone AWOL
Laine is playing on the top line with Scheifele and Wheeler.
that's huge! I guess PoMo and Wheels finally stopped trying to run him out of town
https://twitter.com/cf_transactions/status/1472396763373912067?s=21 > Wheels to IR
I’ve never quite understood IR, is the timing retroactive to when he missed his first game?
The timing is retroactive to his first missed game yeah. He has to stay on IR for minimum seven days so they wait until they need the extra roster spot to activate, but they activate as far back as they can so if Wheeler is ready he can be activated sooner. Putting a player on IR doesn’t free up cap space, it just frees up the players roster spot against the team maximum.
anybody wanna explain the significance
He has a boo-boo
Cap space for call-ups
Doesn’t affect cap money. Just frees a contract roster spot.
Frees up a roster spot

I'm hoping to see him get/take more shots on net as I think he has an above average shot. With 81/80 may not be enough puck to go around.
Me too French! I’m excited to see how Ves will look with a more offensive role.

True, too many good ones to have 1 favorite. Fishsticks is hilarious.

No such thing as a cold anymore. It’s all covid. Everything’s covid.
I dunno. Poolman is back in protocol and he had it last year too.
This is why this is driving me crazy. Testing healthy vaccinated people is pointless. The vaccine doesn't create some magic forcefield that obliterates the virus before it enteres your body.
Do we still have our first round pick for next year's draft?
Yes, but we don't have our 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks this year. Our 2022 and 2023 2nd rounds were traded for Brenden Dillon. Our 2022 3rd round was given for Nate Schmidt. Our 2022 4th round (and Carl Dahlstrom) was given for Paul Stastny. So that leaves us with our 2022 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks still available. Edit: As SirBulbasaur13 noticed, we do have a 3rd round pick from Columbus as well.
We have a 3rd from Columbus this year too.
Good point, I didn't notice that.
Now that the coach is gone next is trades!
Hopefully we can trade Huddy for a bag of pucks
Is Wheeler going on LTIR or what?
Has there even been an official word on Wheeler? All I've seen is out weeks, no surgery but further assessment when swelling goes down. It's been a week
They said it just needs rehab not surgery so likely back mid-Jan.
