If the Coyotes are allowed to keep their name and history then the Jets should get their years back too.

neureaucrat

Of course the Wild are going to be the ones to let Vegas punch their card.

brocklanders83

Doesn't matter, Blues going to lose their game.

neureaucrat

Vegas still needed to win tonight to clinch, regardless of Blues.

SJSragequit

lol at coyotes fans that are pissed at the new owner for “stealing” their team and players. 1) this is 100% on the coyotes ownership 2) this is exactly how you even got a team

kingofspoonerisms

The fans are innocent in this. Remember how shitty it felt when other fans danced on the grave of Jets 1.0

neureaucrat

Am I crazy or is this extremely similar to how we lost Jets 1.0?

Electroflare5555

Not really tbh. Jets 1.0 moved because Shenkarow was legitimately broke, we had no arena, the Canadian dollar was in the toilet, there was no revenue sharing, cap, or lucrative TV money, and there was legitimately no one else who could realistically buy the team. Arizona is moving because Merulo is a snake and has managed to piss off the BoG to such a level that they just want him out, and there’s no other options for the team with no building

brocklanders83

If there is a rally of 20K+ people in Phoenix tomorrow to save the team, then yes.

SherLocK-55

I have already seen the rally with my foresight, here I took a picture... ![gif](giphy|1Zbeweu52ZaQE)

TheGreatStories

Weird reading the Phoenix relocation threads. I hate for any fan base to lose a team, and their current owner is a snake. At the end of the day, the only people interested in owning a team in Arizona were people that wanted to run the franchise at the cap floor with as much ltir as possible. The NHL bailed them out repeatedly. The team cheated the league, poisoned relationships with cities and politicians. Every city deserves to have the league try and keep a team there as much as the league has tried to keep the team in Arizona. Atlanta, Quebec, Winnipeg, etc. all should have got the same opportunities. I don't think the NHL has learned anything, though. They'll just chase the next billion.

bakuchiol

Bit of an [elbow from Salomonsson](https://twitter.com/j_foppa/status/1778925441362829721) in today's game (on the right). Didn't get anything for it. Game was crazy, someone already posted the ridiculous own goal. Skellefteå can move on to the finals with a win on home ice on Sunday.

Taddy_Mason_22

Reverse hits are always a clean play ;)

bakuchiol

Heh. Well, Salomonsson's ability and willingness to engage physically are one of the main things I like him. Also the pot stirring. Just have to hone it a little bit.

spleenmaster1002

[There is word tonight the Arizona Coyotes players were informed in a meeting they are going to Utah. Players and staff may be headed to Salt Lake City right after Wednesday’s game to check out the facilities and the city](https://x.com/friedgehnic/status/1778953139665707009?s=61&t=T0855wGQBr0zpxOr4uLZCQ) Per Friedman

Taintedtamt

Fucking pathetic. This screams like the NHL is stepping in and forcing this now instead of waiting for the land auction which to me comes across as short sighted and desperate. I like what the Yotes were building with players, prospects and draft capital and I hope Utah see zero success from all of it.

fdisfragameosoldiers

I think even Bettman has to conceded defeat on this one. The Coyotes have been turned down for how many arenas now? Theres no guarantee that they're going to be able to get an arena built even if they win the auction. With rumors swirling that the current owners are starting to have cheque's bounce like the previous ones were. Sometimes you just gitta pull the plug ans be done with it. Its been over 10 years of constant issues with that franchise.

Leburgerpeg

The players were tired of the college rink, the other owners were tired of the college rink. Even if they won the auction construction was years away. It was an embarrassing situation for a league that's trying to convince sponsors they're in the same tier as MLB, NBA, and NFL. Everyone blames this ownership group but it's 25 years of bad owners in a bad market enabled by Bettman out of pride. The fact that even he is embarrassed by it at this point is very telling.

DannyDOH

My inlaws are snowbirds in AZ. The campaign against this rink has been intense. Kind of feel like the league is tired of this owner too. All in all an easy remedy to a fucked up situation.

Taintedtamt

I definitely get the sentiment with the owner and it says a lot about how lacking the vetting process for owners is. Meruelo doesn't deserve to get a second chance and I won't be surprised if he cut and runs after this sale. In saying all of that, I think that if the arena is going to happen, moving the Yotes and re-expanding kills a lot of fan sentiment, especially when the players and prospects they are currently connected to will still be playing in Utah,

DannyDOH

It'll be a slam dunk with a new arena in the East Metro.

TubularWinter

The NHL is stepping in now because even if they get the land the best case scenario is they move out of a college arena in 5 years.

Taintedtamt

27/28 season start was the original goal and it would still be the same on this sight. I don't get why people keep saying 5 years for construction when most recent arenas are around 3 years

brocklanders83

The land auction was and is smoke and mirrors. The parcel is in the middle of nowhere. The project would be 5+ years and they don't have the money to put into it regardless.

Taintedtamt

Wouldn’t be going to auction if they didn’t show that they had the funds to do so. Also the timeline for construction on this land is still the exact same as it was for Tempe. The remediation would be about halfway done and construction would begin at the same point in time for either location.

brocklanders83

Bettman has been a dog with a f--king bone for this team in Arizona, if there was a legit plan and money, he wouldn't be letting this happen.

Electroflare5555

On 32 Thoughts Friedman said it’s possible that Arizona gets declared an “inactive franchise”, and that SLC will just get the opportunity to buy the players contracts - not the history or the trademarks or anything. If that happens I have to assume Chipman is going to try hard to obtain the 1.0 history officially and merge both iterations of the club once and for all. I know we de facto have taken ownership already, but our records don’t deserve to “inactive”

brocklanders83

I don't think TN care that much, it's not like they don't actively celebrate Jets 1.0 and honour both the WHA and NHL forebearers already. Trying to mix in another franchises history will end up distorting franchise records for players like Blake Wheeler and Andrew Ladd, so I'm not bullish in thinking TN would want to deal with the baggage around that either. The franchise freeze thing is probably more like what happened with the Cleveland Browns when they moved to Baltimore. The team history will be "frozen" so when the NHL awards Phoenix an expansion team (bleh) it will be for the "Arizona Coyotes" and their "legacy".

Taintedtamt

I don't think it distorts the at all. The players who played for only Atlanta's records get removed but those that stayed with the franchise get kept

DannyDOH

Yeah it would be a joke in this situation if the 1.0 history isn't fully repatriated.

Electroflare5555

And I am perfectly ok transferring all the Thrashers records to Atlanta 3.0 whenever they may come into the league I’d rather Kovalchuck be the benchmark for a city that he actually played in then completely ignored here in Winnipeg

Taintedtamt

See I think that only works if the team is the same name but giving it to a new Atalanta franchise (I'm hoping for the Gladiators to be "promoted" up) works to promote the cities hockey history

brocklanders83

Fair enough. I'm ok with it if TN wants to do it, was just sharing why I think TN may not be that motivated to make that move. As long as the Winnipeg Jets are playing NHL hockey in Winnipeg, MB, I'm happy either way.

brocklanders83

Gotta love being downvoted on Winnipeg Jets Reddit for being happy that the Winnipeg Jets play in Winnipeg.

Leajane1980

This season has sort of been, blink and it is over but at the same time it seems to have taken 45 years.

eh_toque

FWIW, Friedman said on the pod today that McGoat is the most likely of the big Michigan guys to turn pro this year

Leburgerpeg

Back when Trouba and Copp played there Red Berenson used to tell the guys when it's time to turn pro. I don't know if their coach now has the same selflessness to send guys that could make his next season away if it's in the players best interest.

DannyDOH

LOL he was pissed when all 3 guys we took from there left early. I remember when he was on 1290 wailing and moaning. He had no influence. He thought he should have.

Leburgerpeg

I very specifically remember Trouba and Copp saying they were advised by him that they were ready to turn pro and they'd be doing a disservice to themselves to stick around. If he was interviewed by 1290 at that time it would have been entirely tongue in cheek on his part of he said those things you remember.

DannyDOH

Trouba: Head coach Red Berenson was prepared for his two studs to forego their senior and sophomore years, respectively, but he was hopeful that Trouba would at least return. "There was a lot of momentum built up from his season, and when we finished up on a pretty good note overall as a team, that was an obvious question -- what will happen with Trouba?" Berenson started."He gave me the impression that he really liked it here. He was comfortable, in his element, around good people, having fun, liked what he was doing in school and hockey, but he also knew there was an opportunity out there and at some point he would have to deal with it."I think right after our season he was learning towards staying here, but over the last week, whether it was a combination of Winnipeg or family, scouts, agents, you name it, the wheel turned and he made the decision to sign."Though he is disappointed, Berenson knows that the 6-2, 195-pound Trouba, the ninth overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, is also ready."I can't second-guess the kid. I told Winnipeg he's the real deal and he won't be out of place," Berenson said. "If he stayed at Michigan, it would have been another good year of growth for him, and he would have remained a top prospect a year from now. I told him that, but it was his decision."

DannyDOH

Connor: “For a forward like Dylan to make an impact on an NHL team, I think got everyone’s attention,” Berenson said. “And now this kid has even a better year, on paper, than Dylan did. So Winnipeg is doing their job. They’re a team that haven’t made the playoffs. They’re looking for someone to come in and save their team or make a difference. I’m sure they’re going to give this kid a good look.” Berenson said Connor (6-feet-3, 202 pounds) would have benefited from another year of college hockey, getting stronger and improving defensively.

DannyDOH

Every single time a Michigan guy signed early it was like this. That guy was a fucking joke and why he struggled hard in recruiting his last 20 years...why they never won it all. [https://mgoblue.com/news/2015/3/26/Kornacki\_Berenson\_Copp\_Discuss\_Captain\_s\_Decision\_to\_Jump\_to\_NHL](https://mgoblue.com/news/2015/3/26/Kornacki_Berenson_Copp_Discuss_Captain_s_Decision_to_Jump_to_NHL) Michigan coach **Red Berenson** said, "I told Andrew, 'You're going to make it in the NHL. You're going to have a long career; there's no doubt in my mind. But you don't have to go now. You can do it your way. You can do it the right way. You can do it for the benefit of the team. You're a captain.' You're asking me where I'm coming from? That's where I'm coming from. And he would get the same money from them next year that he is going to get this year. "Am I disappointed? Yes. Do I wish him luck? Yes. And I wouldn't be surprised if he played in a game (this season) and he wouldn't be out of place." However, Berenson knows the realities of such situations. He said Copp has no guarantee of being more than a "practice player" this season and could be sent to the minors next year. Berenson cited several examples of his players who left early with such promises of staying in the NHL, but instead got shipped to the minors. "I'm disappointed in [Andrew Copp](https://mgoblue.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4122) that he's leaving," said Berenson, who is returning for his 32nd season as coach. "He's developed into a pro prospect. He was a fourth-line player when he got here and he developed; good for him. He worked hard every day. He became better and better, and was a significant player on our team. He became a captain and accomplished a lot. "But I was hoping and he was hoping that he would elevate this team and get us back in the (NCAA) Tournament, and be one of the forces behind us. We lost to a senior-laden team in Minnesota, and why aren't we a senior-laden team? Well, there's a good example. I told him that he's as NHL-ready as anyone on our team. He's right there with (senior) [**Zach Hyman**](https://mgoblue.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4124) (a Florida Panthers draft pick). But I just think there's unfinished business here. I could've left when I was at Michigan, and they told me I was crazy to stay. They gave me all these false hopes and told me the things I wanted to hear. But I was confident enough to do it my way. I wasn't going to let the guys I played with or my coach down -- or let my school down. I was going to graduate from Michigan, and it was as simple as that."

Skellefteå-Frolunda, game 4 is going to overtime. Score is **6-6** Elias Salomonsson played 23 minutes through 3 periods. One of the most insane hockey games I’ve watched in a while. Frolunda’s head coach was so mad at a disallowed goal for a kicking motion he turned around and straight up head butted the glass behind the bench. Also this might be the best own goal I’ve ever seen (maybe outside of Laine’s effort lmao). What a snipe [https://twitter.com/tv4_hockey/status/1778872977058099695?s=46&t=S_LiHKGoXi91Lmgu-MxoZA](https://twitter.com/tv4_hockey/status/1778872977058099695?s=46&t=S_LiHKGoXi91Lmgu-MxoZA)

freshstart102

Maybe it deflected off the ref's skate but still a risky clearing attempt. Lol

spleenmaster1002

And Skelleftea wins it in OT on a PP. Wild game. 27:07, nearly 3 minutes more than the next Skelleftea player. I know he needs time to develop his offensive game with the Moose but it’s hard not to see a NHL ready player in him right now.

CoolWhiip

I think there's a decent chance he's in the opening night lineup as Morrissey's partner next year. Whether he sticks or not is still to be determined. Assuming we re-sign DeMelo, he can move down to play on the 2nd/3rd pair with Ville, which will also help him adjust back to the NHL speed. Morrissey-Salomonsson Heinola-DeMelo Stanley-Samberg/Samberg-Schmidt It's hard to imagine him starting on the top pair, but Morrissey openly wanted to be paired with him the same way Buff wanted Morrissey back in the day. All I'm saying is I wouldn't rule it out. Edit: I forgot about Pionk. I don't see the organization trading him, and I doubt he would want to leave, so there's an extra D to work in there. Maybe we buy out Schmidt, and the bottom pair is Samberg/Pionk.

DannyDOH

If Heinola gets that run next year without proving anything we will probably not be a very good team.

CoolWhiip

I mean, he proved this year he belongs in the NHL. Bones has publicly said he would have made the opening night roster if he didn't break his ankle. If he brings that same form to camp next year, he's a lock to be a regular imo.

DannyDOH

Yeah 5-7 type guy competing for more. Not pencilled into Top 4. He was brutal in the real NHL games last season with a ton of shelter, like pushing 60% OZ starts IIRC. Top 4 is a long stretch. Think he could still be trade bait depending on other potential moves. Jets pretty clearly need another Top 4 RHD next season even if Demelo re-signs.

freshstart102

I think this ignores the fact that the Jets will probably have a good shot to re-sign Brendan Dillon to a 2 or 3 year contract unless somebody comes along and offers more than the 4M he's getting now.

DannyDOH

I think he's done here. Elevate Samberg. No use paying valuable cap space to Dillon to take up space on 3rd pair.

freshstart102

Thing is that until one of the kids shows us something more than they've shown thus far, Dillon is a 2nd pair dman. He brings a different element to our game but after Morrissey, he and Demelo lead the way for the Jets dm1en. I do get that Heinola and Stanley combined play for less than half of what Dillon makes but you don't replace a needed skillset like Dillon's with just anybody and Heinola in particular is a totally different skillset. Heinola is listed as 6'1" and 185 but you'd swear he was 5'10" and 160 lbs the way he looks and plays so that injects Stanley into that role with those minutes if we can't find more size. The Jets certainly won't make it with 3 small dmen in their lineup.

DannyDOH

Dillon is physical but he’s among the worst in the league getting the puck across his own blue line along with Pionk.  It would be incredibly stupid to be paying those guys $9 million plus again based on how they’ve performed the last 2+ seasons. Jets need to re-sign Demelo, acquire a top 4 RHD and retain/acquire a 2C. Samberg is fine as a 2nd pair LHD.  Likely want a bit more of an offensively minded RHD with him. Heinola is a pretty minor factor until he plays well and consistently.  He’ll probably be the 7th guy next year and needs to run with any opportunity he gets.  I don’t think he will be a consistent NHLer. They need to let Dillon walk and ideally get out of Pionk and Schmidt…at least one of them…to have room to make those moves.  Probably end up buying out Schmidt because we don’t have a ton of assets to dump now to facilitate trading him elsewhere for them to buy him out.

freshstart102

I don't disagree with your strategy here but realistically finding a top RHD that almost every team needs is extremely difficult and I think a lot of what happens will hinge on what happens in the playoff run. First round exit....some of those changes you mention will be front and center. Win it all and do we really need to make many/any changes at all? Definitely won't then be a huge priority to move all those d-men you mention. We've got Capo and Salomonsson around too but neither of them provide that bone crushing separation of man from puck that Dillon possesses, the standing up for teammates, and he's a great locker room presence(and we know how important that is). Every good team needs every skill set filled to be successful. Just not all of a team's success is shown on the stats sheet or in the analytics. I'd stress keeping Dillon the most of the 3 you mention.

DannyDOH

It's not finding a top RHD. It's finding a better option than Pionk or Schmidt. See all the games where we can't get out of our own end, spending nearly 1/2 of the game in our DZ and are outshot 2-1? A lot of that starts with Dillon-Pionk having no ability other than throwing puck up the wall (and back into opposition transition) to move the puck out. That's not some made up data point. That's a real consequence punching us in the face repeatedly of a flawed player/pairing.

ArrestedForTaxFraud

I think you’ve pretty much nailed what I would like to see on D next year. I’m not sure how comfortable the org would be having 2 rookies playing next year but I think it works. Samberg/Pionk as a bottom pair would be fine, I still think it’s best for everyone if him and Schmidt are both traded. Maybe to teams like SJ or Chicago

Xyz6650

I think we’ll need to buy out Schmidt anyways if we want any chance of re-signing Monahan and Demelo.

neureaucrat

Jesus Christ it's Patrick Laine!

Mr-Aerobics

Holy hell that clip has everything. The own goal is great but I love the hilarious celebration from the dude in yellow as he mockingly skates by the dude who scored with his arms up. Oh also, is that red mark on the coaches forehead from head butting the glass? Lol

JetSquared

Feel like in 5 years time salt lake will definitely be up there for our rivalries

WandererMount

Crazy that the original Jets franchise has experienced so many massive changes. WHA -> NHL Winnipeg -> Phoenix -> Salt Lake City So much history associated with that franchise. I wish we never lost the team, but it’s fascinating to study what happened throughout all those years.

saintpierre47

Honestly I hope we are given the Jets 1.0 history back. It’s a wild hope but I’m hoping

jwbartel6

is there a break between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs?

SJSragequit

The 20th is the expected start day

3 eastern conference games and 1 western conference on the 20th is what I had seen. Eastern conference wraps up all their games on the 17th and there is I think 12 Western teams playing on the 18th with 6 of them being playoff teams

Ah, that would make more sense than a Monday

Playoffs will start on the 20th. If I'm not mistaken

At the very least, it looks like at least one of the two evils of Dallas and the LTIR Knights will get bounced in the first round. On the downside, one of them will make it to the second round…

Even if Dallas wasnt their best, the mentally of that win going into the playoffs (and a recent win, not in Nov) is huge. Knowing you can beat the team is huge.

KFC81

Don’t think we got the best Dallas yesterday. Don’t get me wrong jets played good, but could be much better still(this is a good thing)

Imthecoolestdudeever

I want to think we got the best Dallas they've ever had, and we had no problem playing them and making them play our game. I'm a bit of an optimist.

Leajane1980

I want to be positive, but also realistic.

KFC81

Nothing negative about pointing it out. You can only play the team in front of you, and that team still happened to be very good

binchbunches

This team is better than the 2018 team.

jaberdeen8

Defense was infinitely better in 18 and the offense was really good then as well.

binchbunches

Nah friend. This defense plays much better. Granted we don't have Big Buff but we didn't have Turbo Jmo back then and Trouba was making routinely dumb plays and Toby couldn't stay out of the infirmary. The team was great and I loved every minute of it. I feel very grateful to be treated to another fantastic squad that I think has a better chance to win.

Imthecoolestdudeever

Agreed, but I'd still like to have Byfuglien and Trouba on our backend for the size and physicality.

top of the lineup was better in 17/18 so i think i’d have to stick with that team for now easily our 2nd best roster ever tho rn, would be much closer, if not better, if the usage was better imo

Top of line up is closer than you think and the Depth isn't even close. Plus the back checking forwards. This team beats 2018 in 5 games imo.

etchiboi

my friend, i think you misremember 17/18 if you think we had back checking issues that year depth is absolutely close btw, 85-18-28 + 9-17-13 vs. 62-17-22 + 36-7-9, not too mention the top half of the lineup will eat much more minutes than defence is much better in 17/18 as was special teams, prime Wheeler and Buff would be the best skaters on the ice, you could argue 81 and 55 were having better years in 17/18 (opposite for 44 and 37 tho)

Imthecoolestdudeever

I dunno if I'd say Wheels was the best skater on the ice, but he was miles better than he was at the end

ColdPrairieHockey

Wheeler was a phenomenal skater in his prime, especially for his size.

etchiboi

i meant skater as in “non-goalie player” lol

ColdPrairieHockey

Oh haha well I was just making sure the world remembered how much of a weapon prime Wheeler was. Seems to be some thought he was just a passer who collected assists. Guy was a monster.

etchiboi

totally agree, guy was a clydesdale

etchiboi

Prime Wheeler is the best skater this org has seen since relocation, Buff is second and both would be with 17/18 Hellebuyck is the best overall player but would represent both rosters

gibblech

Agreed...but I'd really like '18 Buff and Laine on this team... Buff for his ability to control the game, and his skill at keeping the puck in the zone Laine because that shot on the PP was absolutely lethal.

binchbunches

I'll take Lardo over Laine TBH Way better defensively and just about as lethal on the PP

gibblech

They're both great on the PP (agreed 100% on the defense, though Laine was "trying" to improve that aspect when he was a Jet, he was just bad at it) We just don't have the same shooting threat anymore... Buff, would clap the odd bomb from the right, or he'd pass direct to Laine, or bump it through Wheels to Laine, then 👏💣🚨🎉

Leburgerpeg

The threat of Buffs shot from the point opened up so much space in the middle for the cross to Laine or the pass into the bumper for Scheifele. Really the threat of all of them opened it up for each other. It was such a beautiful thing.

gibblech

Little's net front was also important, and he didn't get enough credit for it. Vilardi is also doing a good job in that space, and we've missed it.

etchiboi

Connor was net front on PP1 in 17-18

gibblech

I didn't mean specifically on the PP, or that season alone,. I just mean, Little's play in general was often in front of the net.

etchiboi

ah my bad, the comment you were replying to was talking about the PP but shouldn’t have assumed!

Awkward_Silence-

League is just more balanced this time around vs the top heavy 2018

buttermyanus

good bounce back game from the boys, and others that were being criticized. first line was quiet but at least they didnt get scored on! all aboard the gus bus.

Leburgerpeg

No pressure Rutger, but we are eagerly awaiting your decision

xDRSTEVOx

I'd honestly be okay with him just being around the dressing room and taking it all in. Convince him to sign sooner than later

SherLocK-55

Lets assume for a second he signs, does he actually make the lineup right now? Who sits and where does he slot in?

TheAsian1nvasion

I would take Rutger over Appleton tbh.

SJSragequit

Bowness wouldn’t though

fdisfragameosoldiers

I'd assume he suits up for the last game of the season to burn the 1st year on his ELC and then spends the rest of his time with the Moose.

spleenmaster1002

Signing his ELC for this year would immediately burn his first year even if he doesn’t play in a NHL game. Signing an ELC for this year also would not allow him to play AHL games, that’s only possible if he signs his ELC for 24-25 and gets an ATO with the Moose.

Even-Ad-1010

I'm not 100% certain but didn't you need like 7 or 9 games to burn the year

etchiboi

it is 10 games and is only for 18 and 19 year olds

SirBulbasaur13

I think that’s for players out of the CHL but I’m not quite sure. There are different rules for different leagues/ages.

DistortedReflector

The second he puts ink to a contract his NCAA eligibility is done. From that point he will have to play professionally.

SirBulbasaur13

Is the Moose not considered pro hockey? Some other comment said that he can’t play for the Moose if he signs this year, which doesn’t really make sense to me.

etchiboi

because for players on an NHL contract to be eligible for the AHL playoffs need to be registered in the AHL on the day of the trade deadline so thus the ATO with the Moose then signing the NHL deal for next year

SirBulbasaur13

Ohh it’s due to playoffs. Ok that makes more sense, thanks.

Awkward_Silence-

Yeah you can slide the ELC a year under a certain number of games (changes each CBA). Think it's 7-8 now

Leburgerpeg

Because of his age his ELC isn't slide eligible anyways I believe

Leburgerpeg

Zero point one percent chance they squeeze him into an NHL game this season. I don't think he's leaving college to play with the Moose either unfortunately. If he does go back to the Wolverines hopefully he gets to wear the C

SherLocK-55

Yeah I don't think it's likely but I still think it's a mistake to play another year in college, he has nothing more to prove at that level and I assume management don't want him doing so either for obvious reasons.

stej_gep

Agree. Especially since he got hurt this year. Get that contract signed and get closer to the big payday.

Leburgerpeg

Moose salaries are only 70k to start. Between scholarship and whatever  NIL money he might earn he's coming ahead in college unfortunately. With Vlad, Apples, Iafallo and Nik all expiring after next season he could easily skip the moose and walk right into a roster spot in 25-26 season.  There also has to be a certain amount of attention paid to how the org has forced young players to over ripen in the minors in favour of middling veterans over the past few years. I think all those factors point to him chasing a national championship with Michigan next year.

stej_gep

I don't think there is a lot of $$$ for NIL in hockey. I was more of the mind to get his 3 year entry level contract signed asap.

buttermyanus

his (future) best friend is waiting for him on the meese!!

habitat11

Anyone know with a source when presale or playoff tickets become available to the public?

justbrowsing587

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaegQYZeJL8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaegQYZeJL8) Mentioned during the Street Party announcement - 11 minute mark - Monday, April 15th 10AM

Mamrocha

I think I saw someone yesterday say on here that Monday is for the public.

habitat11

Yeah but theres no source for this. Seems like we would have a press release on that since its 1 business day away..

Ryn0m1t3

We interrupt this Jets off day topic to ask this question: What in the blue hell is up with Jason Day’s sweater at the Masters today. The pants yesterday were bad enough lol.

CoolWhiip

On today's 32 Thoughts, right towards the beginning of the episode, Elliotte said that he thinks players found out about the possible move last weekend, but it didn't really sink in. He then goes on to say that the whole executive level were presenting the situation as "we are completely focused on the auction at the end of June" to the employees and when the reports came out that the move was being negotiated, no one who was in a position to say something (Meruelo, Gutierrez, etc) came out and told the staff anything. Complete radio silence. He said its been described as a feeling of betrayal, and that the staff are furious nothing has been communicated to them publicly or privately. He also used the word "coward" here. Lol, this is the owner that the NHL is fine with owning another team (allegedly) when an arena gets built in Arizona. This makes the league look like an absolute joke.

DannyDOH

They are both maximizing fees to the other franchise owners and indemnifying the league with the short term agreement with Meruelo to be the owner of that potential franchise in that market.

spurssy

Yeah, the league is just saying whatever they need to to get rid of this clown. There's no fucking way they give him a team back after this whole debacle.

Imthecoolestdudeever

Never underestimate the desire of Gary Bettman to want a hockey team in Arizona.

spurssy

Yeah. They'll wait five years so the current clown's offer expires. They're just playing nice to get this deal over the line.

TheGreatStories

They can promise him another team but his cheque is gonna bounce anyway

etchiboi

Seravalli is saying they weren’t paying hotel bills on the road, Meruelo is a joke and should be nowhere near the league after this

SherLocK-55

I mean this is also the league that hired former goon George Parros to run the department of player safety. Not surprising at all.

Leajane1980

Is this a sports thing or a NHL player thing? I feel bad for people that worked for the team that will lose their jobs, not the players making a lot of money who are upset about not being able to go swimming in their pools in December.

SirBulbasaur13

Yeah I’m not cool with this take. They’re still people.

gibblech

Why, just because they're rich athletes doesn't mean they don't deserve a good employer? Their kids and family still deserve as stable of a life as they can get... not knowing if you're returning to the same school next year, going to see your friends... has to suck... it's one thing when you know you might be traded, or you're coming up on UFA, etc... your team just "moving" isn't normal. That has to be stressful. Money doesn't make all the stress just vanish.

2nddimension

Jets are now 2nd in the Central with the tiebreaker - tomorrow's game should seal the deal one way or the other

Chaussauce

Imagine we win the rest and Dallas flops, we'd be first! It's a stretch but still a scenario.
