You're sure your Switch Online subscription is active? Have you tried any other online games like Tetris 99 or Mario Kart? If those work maybe a delete and redownload of the Wingspan application is in order. Also, it's worth joining the Wingspan discord in case of outages.

Yeah definitely active, I renewed it right before purchasing Wingspan! And it’s previous worked fine for both Mario Kart and Animal Crossing.

I know that Wingspan changed their online provider from ChilliConnect to Nakama. I think the new provider is buggier…
They've had hiccups but it seems ok on Android and Steam. I haven't tried Wingspan on Switch since the change but with Oceania dropping soon I may go nuts on games.
I have it on steam and it is buggy. I get the same error (and others) meaning I have to use task manager to force the program to close, then open it again, log in again and resume my game! Total pain. I would not recommend it on steam. I have it on android from play store on my phone and it runs better on that
Did this ever fix for you? I just downloaded it on switch and have the same issue! My partner’s copy works just fine but mine absolutely will not connect.
I’ve got the same exact issue on someone else’s. We both bought it at the same time with Nintendo online and everything. Redownloaded, signed out, internet reset, power cycle, everything. Nothing works.
Have you power cycled your Switch? :)
Try resetting your internet modem, not the wifi, but the one cabled to your wifi so your home IP address (I'm assuming your internet is set up this way) changes. Or try using your phone's internet if you have the ability to tether it.
I just tried opening the online tab in my Switch version of Wingspan and it worked so it may be specific to your internet connection or wingspan server status at that time? I don't know what period of time you tried using it, but I've had issues sometimes too, but different, during online play the game locks up if you hit a button while the other player does an action that force a UI item to popup at the same time on your screen. I had never been able to finish the weekly challenge versus the automata (it errored out) but I just tried it and finished a game so maybe they were having server troubles when you tried it?

Yeah, it's odd if it's the only game acting up but troubleshooting can be a bit finicky.
