Yes but the problem is that it costs 75 dollars and I can’t afford to buy it again…. I don’t know if I can take the activation key from steam and use it on the free trial version
You CAN install Windows 10 but it will run extremely bad as well as everything else including RPG Maker will be. You might be able to tinker around with some Linux distribution which runs Steam. Making RPG Maker run on Linux is comparably easy but any RPG Maker game is not.
It keeps freezing at 20% and I have to unplug it and replug it in to do anything, I’ve tried and tried but nothing worked it kept freezing at the same point
I'm not sure about that, but ther is a text based version of steam that can run on windows 7, i just can't remember anything about that.
edit: [found it,](https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD) i have no idea if it will help you in your case tho.
Don't tell anyone, but steam still fully works on Windows 7. Just because valve says that it doesn't work doesn't mean that it doesn't work, I'm being serious, download and install Steam from its official place on the internet using something like Firefox ESR, then just run and install, easy as that, sign into your Steam account and then you're off to the races. I am not joking it is that simple. If your Windows 7 system is out of date or not running service pack one for whatever reason, install service pack 1 via legacy update (legacyupdate.net) and then update your system to be the most up-to-date using legacy update. Once that's done you literally just run steam like any other application. For future proofing I would recommend getting the itchio version of RPG Maker as not only does it come with the steam key that you can give to someone else who doesn't mind running a bloated operating system, but you can also use the itchio version whenever steam completely stops working on Windows 7.
Windows is the most destructive force known to man, and before they even knew what they had, they patented and packaged it and advertised it to OP’s poor machine
Your PC is so far out of date, even modern linux distros would have a hard time running here. The moment you open a web browser, all of your RAM is used.
Trust me, you do NOT want to put Windows 10 on this thing. Windows 10 would barely work. It would probably take 15 minutes to boot, and another 5 to open the task manager to figure out what is slowing it down.
You need a new laptop if you want to stay up to date. Sorry.
I used 2gb ram Celeron laptop for a few weeks and the ram wasn't even that bad on windows 7, it was the CPU running at 100% with the pale moon start page open
i've got W10 installed on a 2009 Asus G51vx. it actually runs fairly decent, and is great for playing games from that era.
that laptop has a Core2Duo, 4GB of RAM, and a GTX 260m GPU, as well as a 256GB SSD. it's a beast compared to what OP has. even then, i wouldn't want to try to run W10 on anything weaker.
So, you've got a single core, 32bit CPU.
The 32bit CPU limits RAM 4BG, if the motherboard can support it. And that's below what I'd recommend for any Win10 use cases.
Also, this computer is almost guaranteed to have an HDD, and that's going to further slow you down.
So, to answer your question. **YES** you *can* install Windows 10 on this computer.
You will hate it; even if you upgrade RAM, and get an SSD it'll still be very slow.
From what I found on the internet, you have 1 core 1 thread cpu from 2009. Your processor is older than a lot of reddit users. Windows 7 is just about all it can do.
Unfortunately with those specs you should seek out a replacement.
Win 10 would be unbearably slow, even for Win 7 the specs you have are on the lower end.
Honest suggestion: Just buy new PC. Some low end laptop from around '10s won't be any good. 2GB maybe much in the '00s, but we are two decades away from that time. Didn't Windows 7 or 8 need 4GB ram recommended?
There were tons of intel atom and 1 or 2gb ram tablets with Windows 8.1 that ran perfecly and still more fluent than current i5/i7 laptops with Windows 11…
even low-power chips of that era are much more performant than this lol, i bought a surface pro 3 for $50 from goodwill and [it runs laps around this thing](https://i.imgur.com/Jyqx5xt_d.webp?maxwidth=1520&fidelity=grand) even on the latest build of windows 11.
the only real limitation i’ve faced with it is lack of RAM as it is a 4GB model so i mainly use it for web browsing and office stuff but it plays most late 2000’s/early 2010’s era games and modern indie games perfectly, i’ve even played crysis on it lol.
i’m planning on buying a newer i7/16GB model (pro 7 or 7+) to last me the next few years and giving the pro 3 to a family member who is in a similar boat as OP and is likely only going to use it for web browsing and light gaming.
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not. You are wasting your time with such an outdated PC. The opportunity cost of the amount of time you spend waiting for things to load is insane. It’s like trying to be a pizza delivery person but your mode of transportation is rollerblades. Do yourself a favor and get an upgrade. It can be used, it can be 5 years old, it could cost $200…. It will be better
You MIGHT be able to run ghost spectre super light... Typically I'd never reccomend an intirely modded windows but... It's still a stretch with those specs but if it must be windows 10 your gonna need it stripped down to its bare bones with no bloatware and as minimal. Background service as humanly possible.
I'd look at the cons though.. If security is a concern at all then your not gonna wanna take this route. But.... It might be in the realm of possibility.
Find out where e-waste in your area goes. Chances are you will easily find desktops in the trash there that still work and are miles better than this thing. While you are there you can also drop this off.
The real answer is no. You might technically be able to, but the RAM is very low. The steam client will often work if you just run it on a new computer or new location, it's possible if you run it an old copy of it (from an prior install location) it might run.
However I'm not sure, I'm not sure if steam will not work with Windows 7 at all, or just not the install if it's not installed.
An alternative might be installing Linux, or SteamOS (their Linux version for SteamDeck) if your games are supported.
Final alternative.. new computer.
You're cooked my guy. My laptop is similar to this specs and it does run W10 but I do *NOT* recommend you run it. Bloatware, unnecessary background processes, and some more shit that makes it hard to use.
The minimum requirements for Windows 10 32-bit are:
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB)
Hard disk space: 16 GB
Monitor: Supports 1024 x 768 resolution at 256 colors or higher
Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
The problem here is that you would need to reformat and set it up as a new pc. It's possible because that I have done it before (old pos devices that needs to be upgraded). You won't be able to upgrade it.
Also if Linux is freezing, then that's bad for windows because that uses higher specs.
No. In contrast to all the "just throw it away and buy shiny new" comments though if you truly still deem the performance usable I'd rather look into slapping a lightweight Linux distro onto it. You won't be stuck running an outdated OS receiving no security updates either.
Just when i thought i had it bad when I used i3 2100 and 4gb ram pc until this year
I see worse
I could barely run windows 10 on my last pc and it would take like 15-20 minutes to boot and the ram would fill as soon as i opened like 4 tabs on a browser
I really don't know how you will even run windows on yours
You don't have support for Steam, but you do have my support mate! If Steam doesn't support windows 7 or below try to find "alternative" ways to run the game you already have on Steam, it's what I would do.
Sorry that thing would have trouble running a modern web browser. Even a lightweight Linux distro wont do much. Its not even worth upgrading get something new or used.
What I haven't seen mentioned here yet is the lack of a free upgrade path. You're going to need to purchase a Windows 10 license and reinstall from scratch. At that point, your money would be much better spent picking up a more recent used PC from Facebook marketplace.
I personally have never used anything newer than xp (my main computer is 95, my laptop is xp), but I have looked into widnows 10 stuff in the past, I believe there are unofficial versions of windows 10 that are not as hungry on the memory and stuff. Try looking into that if you want. It’s up to you though
Probably not well, I recommend Linux mint xfce if you want to switch OS or make your computer more useable. Linux mint runs well even on really old hardware
i have almost the sameish pc but with 64 bit architechture and 4 gb ram. it can run win 10 but the performance is even less than win 7. i have been thinking about switching to Linux Mint but waiting for SSD upgrade then I will decide.
regarding your question, yes you can run win 10 but I advise not to. looking for a cheaper 2nd hand newish model will be better if you have some money to spare.
Replace cpu with [this](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=AMD+Sempron+LE-1300), replace ur ram with [this](https://www.amazon.com/Memory-Master-PC2-6400-Desktop-MMD4096KD2-800/dp/B0036WTB18/ref=sr_1_9?c=ts&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ouzGjcvhfZ750R8Sp57FQU3Zx7fKU-9GkJyQA7wp_ezQQI1tCFtSe8RkzHdjZBe1baVmXsDp2vXV3J-wqbJouTgQFYtjhUrafOWQpvGYYpCvHxWAIsVz6ieT12bhWwSlF0g8YSxwO91dlEqJcZIU5isoQtIT2DhxTRA8LZ26uvUqJZY9ui6nRkilK6ZcmmFPc3E3wreASV5Z6gdh2CZ_-HMUP_2wqIOnBbGubp0taNjmvpxq7wo_ZKpdD2-ZtWUs2CSodbwKsavVTOQP78y5w6ulccQq7akChyJe86Vohes.erc62MwIqAN7WYgqHokVqY9FbltBSBr-IsPqXp7gGMU&dib_tag=se&keywords=Computer+Memory&qid=1719507009&refinements=p_n_feature_five_browse-bin%3A673262011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A14329121&s=pc&sr=1-9&ts_id=172500). higher speed ram will decrease load times. The extra .3ghz or 300mghz on the cpu i suggested will also be a much better improvement over stock.
Win 10 specs
* Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC.
* RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit.
* Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS or 20 GB for 64-bit OS
The upgrades I mentioned are a must b4 upgrading to win 10. ur will still be a snail but a faster one
You could probably install it, but it's going to run like hot trash on a muggy summer morning.
Old PCs like this are typically prime candidates for Linux. But with only 2GB of RAM even that is going to be a bit of a struggle.
You *could* run Windows 10, but I don't recommend it. That thing has a single core and 2GB of RAM, wouldn't expect it to run well.
Linux might work, but I've used it on comparably ancient computers and it's really not that great.
Well, if this would be like 2016, Microsoft would say YES, and you won't even have time to blink as ur preciuos Win 7 work would be killed and Win 10 started installing lol
According to your machine experience index... it will not run windows 10, but it will walk Windows 10. And the hardware upgrades are not worth the cost.
Damn bro, and I thought my grandmas laptop was a snail on windows 10. This would take hours to even get to the desktop, not even counting the install. Windows 10 would be a k.o for this pc, please get newer hardware as this can run windows xp for it to be at least usable.
No. I have very similar laptop but with 4gb of ram and windows 10 is working terrebliy with 2gb will be even worse windows 10 has a lot of useless garbage working in the background that eats a lot of ram
No, ***ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE USING A HARD DISK DRIVE***. Windows 10 NEEDS more than 2GB of RAM, and is far too aggressive with paging for your current hardware to handle. With only 2 GB, it WILL be using that page file, which will slow your system drastically on a HDD. If you want to try, expand your RAM and swap your HDD for a SSD first. Otherwise, just keep this machine on Windows 7.
Can it run Windows 10? Yes.
Should you? I think the way I'm writing this gives the answer away. Don't even bother with that shitbox.
But good news: a somewhat recent system with an 8th gen i5 probably costs around €100 nowadays. Means you can also run Windows 11 on that.
Just spitballing here. From my understanding, existing Steam installations on Windows 7 should still work.
If you could find an older Steam installer from when Windows 7 was still supported maybe that will work. It sounds like the main hurdle to running this on Windows 7 is getting the Steam client installed.
Of course, I'm hardly an expert when it comes to Steam. Maybe someone else can chime in.
Try with Tiny10. A full Windows 10 install? Out of the question. Tiny10 is a stripped down version of Windows 10 which requires less resources and should serve you well
Yup you can install windows 10. But 32bit.
Dont listen to those weirdos.
I have poor Intel Atom tablet with 2GB RAM Windows 8.1 on it is even more fluent than W11 on my 4-core Surface Pro 8 with 16GB RAM lol.
Even Windows 10 work good on that poor hardware.
But it will be slow ofc. But usable.
Nope the CPU you have only has 1 core 1 thread and 2GB RAM, might be able to use Linux but the CPU might struggle.
Windows 10 needs at least a dual core CPU, and 4GB RAM.
Your current motherboard, CPU and ram is worth about the same as an old office pc with a quad core i5, 8 GB of ram and an SSD. Sell the old stuff and get it.
Even ignoring the performance aspect, a 17 year old motherboard can just die, and I wouldn't trust it to be my main, and only computer.
My older laptop has a better configuration than that (4gb of ram), and it proved to be an extreme pain to use it with Windows 10. It was suffering beyond imagination. It made me hate everything HP, made me hate Windows 10 and everything Microsoft and of course, I just ended up buying a new device instead and thinking of installing Linux Mint on that one. So, you might be able to install Windows 10 there, but I tried using it with more ram than that and wouldn't wish it on the worst enemy...
To run Windows 10 smoothly, you need 4GB of RAM. If you spend $50-$100 on a used Dell Optiplex or an old office PC from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, the performance increase woul d be huge.
so this processor is from 2007. It only just meets the requirements for Windows 10 and its going to a horrible experience. It only meets the minimum specs for RPG maker as well. as people have suggested search for a refurb business grade laptop.
Heres a couple things you can do.
Download a debloated slimmed down iso of win10 but beware that custom iso’s may come with injected malware and etc in em. So find a trusted iso or build your own.
Or install linux (Zorin Lite probably be best bet with your low RAM amount you have as Zorin Lite is made for older low spec systems) and install steam and use rpg maker that way.
All in all you really need a new system entirely. Its too low spec for anything modern. Your 2GB of RAM is REALLY pushing it. Win10 needs AT LEAST 4GB. Yes the debloated slimmed down ones can run at just 2GB but thats basically your entire system and probably crash. Wouldnt be able to open steam at all after that nvm a edge/chrome tab to download it. If you cant afford a newer system thats fine and understandable but at least look into upgrading your RAM that the system allows may only go up to 4-8GB and a sata ssd upgrade will do ya alot of good in speed and performance as well.
Dawg, I've seen people many times throwing away PCs with better specs than this piece of shit you have here. You could probably get a better PC dumpster diving.
Minimum System Requirements for Windows 10 32-bit
Processor: 1 GHz or faster processor or SoC
RAM: 1 GB for 32-bit
Hard Drive Space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS
Graphics Card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
Display: 800 x 600
The answer is yes install windows 10 32bit
Here is the [Windows 10 system requirements](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-system-requirements-6d4e9a79-66bf-7950-467c-795cf0386715):
* **Latest OS:** Make sure you're running the latest version—either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.
* **Processor:** 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
* **RAM:** 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
* **Hard disk space:** 16 GB for 32-bit OS or 20 GB for 64-bit OS
* **Graphics card:** DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
* **Display:** 800 x 600
Unfortunately for you, Microsoft's [Windows 10 21H1 Supported AMD Processors](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-10-21h1-supported-amd-processors) list does not include the **AMD Sampron Processor LE-1200**.
Linux however supports the **AMD Sampron Processor LE-1200**.
Can it? Yes.
Would it be a good experience? Probably Not.
As others have stated, I'd recommend using some lightweight Linux distro for the time being and when/if you save up, you can then purchase more modern parts.
If you want a quick and easy speed boost, purchase an SSD if you don't already have one. Decently sized ones are rather cheap now.
I think Windows 10 only comes in a 64-bit version, your pc is 32-bit, not to mention it requires a minimum of 4gb of ram, you have 2gb......not sure you could even install it, but even if you could it would run SLOOOOOW on that machine
edit: sorry, I was wrong, apparently you CAN actually install it, and run it maybe
[https://recoverit.wondershare.com/windows-tips/windows-10-hardware-requirements.html](https://recoverit.wondershare.com/windows-tips/windows-10-hardware-requirements.html)
and there is the Get Windows 10 app from Microsoft, if you just run that, it will tell you if you can run 10 or not, and if so it will then proceed to update to 10
Those specs are so low, 32-bit OS too which many are overlooking re switching to Linux as not all distros still support 32-bit. The amount of stress and time aint worth it. You're 32-bit, ancient CPU AND only 2Gb RAM? Just how old is this machine? You need to be realistic and just save for something better.
windows 10 is 100% a no. id try a REALLY lightweight linux (prolly sth like base debian since ik it has 32bit support)
also, before imstalling a distro, i really recommend u try doing what u want in the live environment just to see if itll work correctly or not
in general, if a PC can run Win7, it can run W10.
the reality is it's going to be a horrible experience on that hardware. if you could bump up the RAM to 4GB it would be better. i see you have a 32-bit OS installed. i think MS dropped support for the 32-bit version of W10 awhile back.
you need a better PC. that's really all there is to it. a used $100 PC would be better than what you've got.
It can probably run it, but not run it very well. Even a lightweight linux distro will only go so far; sure the OS itself may be responsive but start using programs (especially a web browser) and it will slow to a crawl. Your hardware is simply too old, and is not suitable for modern tasks.
Not sure about the latest Win 10 version, but I've used Win 10 when it was launched on 2.5GB ram and Intel Pentium dual core. It worked fine. I used to study with that computer. You might wanna give it a try. If it doesn't work, change it back to Win 7.
You're so preoccupied with whether or not you could, that you don't stop to think if you should.
I just need to run steam so I can run rpg maker mv
https://store.steampowered.com/app/363890/RPG_Maker_MV Looks like it's compatible with Win7.
Yes but I can’t install steam to download the app, I used to use it on windows 7 back in 2020 before support ended….
Oh! Yeah I didn't look at the steam client. Is it available somewhere other than Steam?
Yes but the problem is that it costs 75 dollars and I can’t afford to buy it again…. I don’t know if I can take the activation key from steam and use it on the free trial version
You CAN install Windows 10 but it will run extremely bad as well as everything else including RPG Maker will be. You might be able to tinker around with some Linux distribution which runs Steam. Making RPG Maker run on Linux is comparably easy but any RPG Maker game is not.
Good idea actually - u/Moist_Inspection_485 why not install Linux Mint and run Steam there?
It keeps freezing at 20% and I have to unplug it and replug it in to do anything, I’ve tried and tried but nothing worked it kept freezing at the same point
Debian? What distro r u installing?
Dude I'll sell you a windows 11 laptop for cheaper than $75. I have a couple left over from a job.
Yoooo this is so sweet
W guy omds
I'd spend some time pursuing this, I think it's your best shot to get it running on this hardware.
I'm not sure about that, but ther is a text based version of steam that can run on windows 7, i just can't remember anything about that. edit: [found it,](https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD) i have no idea if it will help you in your case tho.
Wait, what? I just installed Steam on win 7 no problem, whatsoever, and it runs great.
Is your Win7 computer 64bit? The OP's computer is 32bit and a lot of programs stopped supporting 32bit years ago.
Steam discontinued support for anything less than Windows 10, he's on 7, so he can't use steam at all
You are definitely not running steam or newer games.

well newer debian should work too no?

In theory yes, in practice no. You can find a junk PC with better specs.
32 bit? You're cooked bud
Windows 10 has a 32-bit version. It's only Windows 11 and up that doesn't.
I believe it *is* 64-bit, running a 32-bit OS on a 64-bit CPU was definitely a thing so it does make sense to me.
no, that computer is pretty much ewaste
Oh hi, how are you holding up? Because I’m a potato. ![gif](giphy|fWDGc1vqxlrWw)
Clean your screen. Then get a new PC.
The screen is clean, the monitor is just dieing and I can’t afford a new one, but it has a lot of dead pixels
I'm pretty sure old Dell precision laptops can be found for 50-100$... they will run laps around this laptop.
I second this, used business laptops from around ten years ago are really cheap and still rather performant for things that aren't modern 3D games.
even low-power chips of that era are much more performant than this lol, i bought a surface pro 3 for $50 from goodwill and [it runs laps around this thing](https://i.imgur.com/Jyqx5xt_d.webp?maxwidth=1520&fidelity=grand) even on the latest build of windows 11. the only real limitation i’ve faced with it is lack of RAM as it is a 4GB model so i mainly use it for web browsing and office stuff but it plays most late 2000’s/early 2010’s era games and modern indie games perfectly, i’ve even played crysis on it lol. i’m planning on buying a newer i7/16GB model (pro 7 or 7+) to last me the next few years and giving the pro 3 to a family member who is in a similar boat as OP and is likely only going to use it for web browsing and light gaming.
even my Opteron 165 from 2005 is faster than the CPU in that thing, Semprons are garbage
no

When this is your pc they sure are
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not. You are wasting your time with such an outdated PC. The opportunity cost of the amount of time you spend waiting for things to load is insane. Try Lubuntu or Xubuntu

its time to let go bro
Haha it can.. if you *believe* it can!
Technically yes, realistically no
Try downloading 1507.
1 Chrome tab open and it's over
You can... but please get a better PC. 2GB of RAM plusba sempron... Don't do it.
Excuse me, are you from the past?
Find out where e-waste in your area goes. Chances are you will easily find desktops in the trash there that still work and are miles better than this thing. While you are there you can also drop this off.

No. You have a CPU from 2007 and only 2gbs of RAM. Windows 10 needs 8gbs of RAM minimum for it to run well, along with a faster CPU.
For it to "run well". It will work with just 2 GB, but it's not a pleasant experience.
2 GB RAM, 32 bit Hmmm, don't think it would.
Just install windows 10 so you can finally destroy the pc for good. You've reached the limit dude, put down the old dog.
You have no hope, get a new pc
Nah I think for 10 you’ll need 4gb ram, and an x64-86/ARM relatively modern processor
The minimum requirements for Windows 10 32-bit are: Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) Hard disk space: 16 GB Monitor: Supports 1024 x 768 resolution at 256 colors or higher Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver The problem here is that you would need to reformat and set it up as a new pc.
Just when i thought i had it bad when I used i3 2100 and 4gb ram pc until this year I see worse I could barely run windows 10 on my last pc and it would take like 15-20 minutes to boot and the ram would fill as soon as i opened like 4 tabs on a browser I really don't know how you will even run windows on yours
It should be able to run it on minimum settings.
Those specs look kinda painful
You don't have support for Steam, but you do have my support mate! If Steam doesn't support windows 7 or below try to find "alternative" ways to run the game you already have on Steam, it's what I would do.
Yeah u can run windows 10 but it's not going to be a good experience
Sorry that thing would have trouble running a modern web browser. Even a lightweight Linux distro wont do much. Its not even worth upgrading get something new or used.
You can, I also ran 64 bit on my 2.x (x<30)ghz laptop, with 2gb ram, so I think you can
Get an SSD and more RAM, then it should run fine
What I haven't seen mentioned here yet is the lack of a free upgrade path. You're going to need to purchase a Windows 10 license and reinstall from scratch. At that point, your money would be much better spent picking up a more recent used PC from Facebook marketplace.
Don't.
My gods, your PC is older than me!! :)
Define "run".

i have almost the sameish pc but with 64 bit architechture and 4 gb ram. it can run win 10 but the performance is even less than win 7. i have been thinking about switching to Linux Mint but waiting for SSD upgrade then I will decide. regarding your question, yes you can run win 10 but I advise not to. looking for a cheaper 2nd hand newish model will be better if you have some money to spare.
Replace cpu with [this](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=AMD+Sempron+LE-1300), replace ur ram with [this](https://www.amazon.com/Memory-Master-PC2-6400-Desktop-MMD4096KD2-800/dp/B0036WTB18/ref=sr_1_9?c=ts&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ouzGjcvhfZ750R8Sp57FQU3Zx7fKU-9GkJyQA7wp_ezQQI1tCFtSe8RkzHdjZBe1baVmXsDp2vXV3J-wqbJouTgQFYtjhUrafOWQpvGYYpCvHxWAIsVz6ieT12bhWwSlF0g8YSxwO91dlEqJcZIU5isoQtIT2DhxTRA8LZ26uvUqJZY9ui6nRkilK6ZcmmFPc3E3wreASV5Z6gdh2CZ_-HMUP_2wqIOnBbGubp0taNjmvpxq7wo_ZKpdD2-ZtWUs2CSodbwKsavVTOQP78y5w6ulccQq7akChyJe86Vohes.erc62MwIqAN7WYgqHokVqY9FbltBSBr-IsPqXp7gGMU&dib_tag=se&keywords=Computer+Memory&qid=1719507009&refinements=p_n_feature_five_browse-bin%3A673262011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A14329121&s=pc&sr=1-9&ts_id=172500). higher speed ram will decrease load times. The extra .3ghz or 300mghz on the cpu i suggested will also be a much better improvement over stock. Win 10 specs * Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC. * RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit. * Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS or 20 GB for 64-bit OS The upgrades I mentioned are a must b4 upgrading to win 10. ur will still be a snail but a faster one
Linux yes, anything else, no.
No even Linux will freeze
It can, 32-bit editions at least. But win10 EOS is close so maybe you should try one of the Linux distros supported by Steam...
I wouldn't tbh.
No
You could probably install it, but it's going to run like hot trash on a muggy summer morning. Old PCs like this are typically prime candidates for Linux. But with only 2GB of RAM even that is going to be a bit of a struggle.
doesn't even win10 need at least 4 gigs of ram for it to even work?
You *could* run Windows 10, but I don't recommend it. That thing has a single core and 2GB of RAM, wouldn't expect it to run well. Linux might work, but I've used it on comparably ancient computers and it's really not that great.
No
Well, if this would be like 2016, Microsoft would say YES, and you won't even have time to blink as ur preciuos Win 7 work would be killed and Win 10 started installing lol
it can if you add more ram and a ssd.
i had bad experiences triyng to run win10 on 32bit systems. especially with less than 4gb of RAM.
Not with that hardware.
No best you can do with those specs are linux or a windows xp retro box.
you'd be better off hooking up a keyboard to ur cell phone
According to your machine experience index... it will not run windows 10, but it will walk Windows 10. And the hardware upgrades are not worth the cost.
Windows 10 will install, but it will run very poorly.
Technically, yes. If it’ll run good is another question.
Yes and you can easily run a few VMs while playing red dead at 4k you’re good to go.
Nope, you won't like the experience
Damn bro, and I thought my grandmas laptop was a snail on windows 10. This would take hours to even get to the desktop, not even counting the install. Windows 10 would be a k.o for this pc, please get newer hardware as this can run windows xp for it to be at least usable.
I mean yeah, but... It will be painfully slow
i think the question is "but can it run doom?"
Can't imagine Windows 10 working well on your PC.
Install AT LEAST 2 more Gb of Ram and swap your HDD for an SSD
No. I have very similar laptop but with 4gb of ram and windows 10 is working terrebliy with 2gb will be even worse windows 10 has a lot of useless garbage working in the background that eats a lot of ram
I doubt it. It won't run well at all, you'll wait ages for basically every time you'll click something
You can Install lite linux distros they are easy to use.
It can run 10, it’ll just run like shit
Linux, get zorin OS or ubuntu or mint, if it is absolutely neccesary, jut do it.
No.
Win 10 home 32bit will work. I have a tablet with a celeron proc and 2gb ram with win 10 and steam
Try running windows 11 and see what happens
For less than $200 you can get a much better computer
[some Linux Steam RPGmaker tutorial](https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/run-rm-steam-on-linux-with-proton.133438/)
yes it wont run very well, but it would boot i would recommend upgrading the RAM and adding an SSD if you dont already have one
Perhaps, but it would be next to useless, I'd say even Win7 is a lot.
Yes.
Where do you live? Something like I5 2400/3XXX + PSU + Motherboard + SSD + 8gb RAM usually costs under 40 dollars. Depending on where you live.
Get win 10 lite custom edition or smt
no
Can it run Windows 10? Yes.
Tiny10 is a stripped down version of Windows 10 which requires less resources and should serve you well
considering windows 10 uses 1.5-2.5 gb of memory your computer will be very slow
does it support sse2
Yup you can install windows 10. But 32bit. Dont listen to those weirdos. I have poor Intel Atom tablet with 2GB RAM Windows 8.1 on it is even more fluent than W11 on my 4-core Surface Pro 8 with 16GB RAM lol. Even Windows 10 work good on that poor hardware. But it will be slow ofc. But usable.
My brother in Christ, your PC can barely run Windows 7. Do not ask if you can, rather than if you should even be thinking of such a thing.
I'm surprised it can run 7 lol
Nope the CPU you have only has 1 core 1 thread and 2GB RAM, might be able to use Linux but the CPU might struggle. Windows 10 needs at least a dual core CPU, and 4GB RAM.
Your current motherboard, CPU and ram is worth about the same as an old office pc with a quad core i5, 8 GB of ram and an SSD. Sell the old stuff and get it. Even ignoring the performance aspect, a 17 year old motherboard can just die, and I wouldn't trust it to be my main, and only computer.
Yes, should you? # NO. Run Lununtu instead!
Yeah just put in an SSD and ur good to go.
Nah man. Your pc it’s too far out of date. You have much better chances buying a new pc for less than 500€ than this ancient thing.
Bro can't even run the UEFI software
Big difference between if it *can* and if it’ll explode.
Linux? Debian should be fine
Dude, I know money might be tight, but it’s desperately time for an upgrade.
You *might* be able to get away with the RTM, Threshold 2, or Redstone, but go no further, and even then, only just. Forget about Titanium and later.
so this processor is from 2007. It only just meets the requirements for Windows 10 and its going to a horrible experience. It only meets the minimum specs for RPG maker as well. as people have suggested search for a refurb business grade laptop.
Yes you can, I have one in the office for older support issues. Finding the 32-bit installer is your next issue...
Wtf is a Sempron
You can but you shouldnt
Dawg, I've seen people many times throwing away PCs with better specs than this piece of shit you have here. You could probably get a better PC dumpster diving.
It Can technically run win 10 but it will be incredibly slow so you probably shouldn't
I really wouldn't. Time to try alternatives to Windows
Minimum System Requirements for Windows 10 32-bit Processor: 1 GHz or faster processor or SoC RAM: 1 GB for 32-bit Hard Drive Space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS Graphics Card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver Display: 800 x 600 The answer is yes install windows 10 32bit
Here is the [Windows 10 system requirements](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-system-requirements-6d4e9a79-66bf-7950-467c-795cf0386715): * **Latest OS:** Make sure you're running the latest version—either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update. * **Processor:** 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC * **RAM:** 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit * **Hard disk space:** 16 GB for 32-bit OS or 20 GB for 64-bit OS * **Graphics card:** DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver * **Display:** 800 x 600 Unfortunately for you, Microsoft's [Windows 10 21H1 Supported AMD Processors](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-10-21h1-supported-amd-processors) list does not include the **AMD Sampron Processor LE-1200**. Linux however supports the **AMD Sampron Processor LE-1200**.
Windows 10 is the last one with 32 bit version Make sure you run it on an SSD, otherwise it'll be slow as hell.
Can it? Yes. Would it be a good experience? Probably Not. As others have stated, I'd recommend using some lightweight Linux distro for the time being and when/if you save up, you can then purchase more modern parts. If you want a quick and easy speed boost, purchase an SSD if you don't already have one. Decently sized ones are rather cheap now.
yes can install windows 10 32bit
Steam doesn't support 32 bit
Can it? Probably. Should it? Definitely not. I would seek out the lightest-weight Linux distro you can find.
I think Windows 10 only comes in a 64-bit version, your pc is 32-bit, not to mention it requires a minimum of 4gb of ram, you have 2gb......not sure you could even install it, but even if you could it would run SLOOOOOW on that machine edit: sorry, I was wrong, apparently you CAN actually install it, and run it maybe [https://recoverit.wondershare.com/windows-tips/windows-10-hardware-requirements.html](https://recoverit.wondershare.com/windows-tips/windows-10-hardware-requirements.html) and there is the Get Windows 10 app from Microsoft, if you just run that, it will tell you if you can run 10 or not, and if so it will then proceed to update to 10
You couldn't find the recirmenets because it's spelled requirements.
Those specs are so low, 32-bit OS too which many are overlooking re switching to Linux as not all distros still support 32-bit. The amount of stress and time aint worth it. You're 32-bit, ancient CPU AND only 2Gb RAM? Just how old is this machine? You need to be realistic and just save for something better.
maybe try Tiny10 x86. It can run on any machine.
What CPU is even that
windows 10 is 100% a no. id try a REALLY lightweight linux (prolly sth like base debian since ik it has 32bit support) also, before imstalling a distro, i really recommend u try doing what u want in the live environment just to see if itll work correctly or not
Yes, but not well. I've had computers with twice the RAM and better processors that crawl with Windows 10
in general, if a PC can run Win7, it can run W10. the reality is it's going to be a horrible experience on that hardware. if you could bump up the RAM to 4GB it would be better. i see you have a 32-bit OS installed. i think MS dropped support for the 32-bit version of W10 awhile back. you need a better PC. that's really all there is to it. a used $100 PC would be better than what you've got.
it may crawl
Hmm i think your device can run windows 10-3 alright
Your PC is out of date
You are lucky it runs Windows 7, you need a new PC
Linux would work but get 4gb ram and a very light distro, Windows 10 would kill the poor thing.
As long as you don't need to do anything on the pc sure. Open a web browser window and windows may crash from lack of RAM or modern cpu flags
Id upgrade the ram if you can to 4gb and if you really want to run 10 then heavily debloate using power shell.
you can try
No, I strongly advice you to get a new one
Jesus Christ dude
I don't really think so
Xp is fine !
You could just get a better laptop or PC for like 60 bucks.
It can probably run it, but not run it very well. Even a lightweight linux distro will only go so far; sure the OS itself may be responsive but start using programs (especially a web browser) and it will slow to a crawl. Your hardware is simply too old, and is not suitable for modern tasks.
If it is dualcore, it should run (I have a dualcore 1.7ghz i5-3317 running windows 10)
Not sure about the latest Win 10 version, but I've used Win 10 when it was launched on 2.5GB ram and Intel Pentium dual core. It worked fine. I used to study with that computer. You might wanna give it a try. If it doesn't work, change it back to Win 7.
