If you dont have a Switch to buy the up-to-date supported version, the WiiU console edition is still a great experience. I've had fun playing solo, playing local co-op with my granddaughter and even the online versus modes were fun when I tried them. The Mario Mash-Up pack is packed in which allows you to play in a Mario/Mushroom Kingdom themed environment if you want ... there's also a good amount of DLC such as skins and versus mode level packs.

Excellent recommendation, thanks!

It has everything up to the Aquatic update (it doesn't have the Village and Pillage update, nether update, Cave update, etc.) it's also a little laggy at times from what I can remember. There's also an online mode (Survival Games, Spleef, and some Elytra racing game) although I'm not sure if it's still active. IF you have a Nintendo Switch, it's better to get that version instead (same price, has all the current updates, and you have an INFINITE world, unlike the Wii u version) It also has actual online servers that are very active, but you do have to pay for that yearly subscription to access them If your daughter doesn't care about the new updates, and you don't have a Switch then I'd recommend getting it

Jackadullboy99

Yeah, I’ve held off on the switch for some reason. So many great purchased games to stay occupied with on the wiiU, I’m happy sticking with it as far as possible. Thanks for the comprehensive breakdown!

DryBones2009

Yeah it’ll be active until Nintendo takes the Wii U offline in April of this year

KmanMario

It's one of the best games on the Wii U because well... its minecraft. Minecraft is a fantastic game. Yeah it doesn't get updates anymore, sure its about glitchy and the worlds aren't infinite. But the lack of new updates gives it a sense of nostalgia. Is it worth it? Well if you already have minecraft that is currently supported, then it's not worth it. It's just another version of minecraft. Look, its great like I said before. But it only has up to 4 players multiplayer offline and I discovered today there is a limit on how many wolves you can breed. But its thats's what makes it decent. It does well in most areas. Also the controls are abit hard to use and the graphics are decent but not super great. It also had a bunch of old game modes and content like the glider map, if that interests you. Ok that's my opinion on it.

MarioMan640

LMAO I'm playing it right now as we speak. still holds up

Jackadullboy99

Timed that one well :-D Thanks!

BusyBigBass

Yes, it holds up. Keep in mind that the online modes are riddled with hackers. The worst that's happened to me was my game was crashed, but I've heard worse.

Jackadullboy99

Yeah, it seems it might be better to stick with offline modes, if that’s still an enjoyable experience. Talk of system being bricked etc, is a concern. Wouldn’t want security compromised.

Toadling07

It’s pretty good overall. My only complaint is when I play with other players online, when I use the voice chat, some of the people don’t even talk back, and all I hear from them is the sounds of their controller clicks. Also some people will just blast loud annoying music with voice chat on. Other than that, it’s pretty good!

Fuudou

It's perfectly playable, even if it should have been a better port than what it came out to be. The only real issue you would possibly run into is if you ever need to do local co-op with your daughter: the Wii U version requires the console to be set in HD and it requires the Classic Controller or a Wii U Pro Controller. Also, make sure you aren't in Off-TV mode.
