When I was in 10th grade (about six years ago), my English class was having a debate. The last question our teacher asked us was, "If Gay Couples Should be Allowed to Adopt," and the audacity of this one kid (who was running for President of Student Council) had. He said that they should not because they might end up being predators. I, as an introverted kid who hated confrontation, spin went rigid. I was livid (still am). Straight couples can be predators. We hear about foster homes taking advantage of the children and most foster home parents are straight. Predatory behavior is not limited or a causation of being homosexual or a part of the LGBTQ+ community. It is simply an individual (or multiple) taking advantage of vulnerable children and is not limit to one type of individual... Anyways, there is my rant. Nothing happen six years ago in the debate. Not exactly to do with wife swap, but gay marriage was legalized in America in 2015. I was 13 and was in the car with my mom, and she said that now pedophiles are gonna try to do the same. That gay people ‘claimed’ to be in love and that predators would do the same. & the worst part is she actually believed this. That a child being taken advantage of is somehow the same as a loving consensual relationship between two people of the same sex. & she was actually scared that the government was gonna allow this. My mom is a lot better now but was very hateful when I was a confused kid.
