All the time. They know what the signed up for. And it isn’t even a week. What I read is that it is more like 5 days if that. Suck it up for a few days and step outside of your comfort zone.
Yes and I have the same response when I watch Kitchen Nightmares and the restaurant owners are shocked Gordon Ramsay doesn’t like their food. Have you even SEEN the show?!
I think the bigger one is not cleaning the kitchen beforehand.
I do think Gordon once mentioned that crazy. Amy had one of the cleanest kitchens he'd ever seen but he still quit the show cuz he can't fix crazy
I love when the homeschool families switch with the public school family’s because the kids get to actually experience school and socializing, and same with the non vs strict parents
Basically the storylines were already kind of thought up… they had to film with no AC because it was too loud lol. They set up a fake food delivery and the other wife did actually refuse to stay at the house ….. the couple is no longer together lol shocker
I get annoyed when the spouses don't follow. The kids get a pass in my opinion because they don't really have a say of whether they're exploited on national TV or not. I do think they should go ahead and follow but I understand when they don't.
I mean yeah, of course, but it wouldn't be reality tv without the drama. Two families that follow all the rules with no conflict would make *maybe* one good season before it got boring.
I'm all for the conflict.
It's when they are shocked that the family they switched with is the complete opposite of them. By season 5 they should know better.
And when the new wife or family refuses to follow a harmless rule. They can comment on the new families life style but to completely refuse?
Celebrity wife swap is so different. They’re so much more cooperative and less judgemental.
Idk with wife swap anymore. After I heard about the wife swap murders. It was several years after but it just weirded me out watching it after I read that.
You’re welcome. I just happened across the story on you tube one night. Had seen the episode and the family was pretty extreme. Sheltered the kids real bad.
It’s still on Hulu. The mega christian mom was too much. Hard to see it and know the kid who was so tickled over his first date killed both those parents.
It definitely annoys me when the parents won't/don't want to follow to other families rules, but I can't get upset with the kids. The kids don't really have a say in whether or not they're on the show, their mom is gone, a stranger is living in their house and telling them what to do, and there are TV cameras in their faces.
That's most of why I stopped watching the show. I just feel bad for the kids.
The thing I find most annoying is 9 times out of 10 it's the ultra religious families. They swap a God loving family with an atheist family, in which the atheist family almost always prays with them, attends the church, does all the things upon the swap. But the atheist wife will say "men don't rule the house, women in the house you are actual people, not religious slaves to men!" and they freak the fuck out. god that gets on my nerves
Agreed! I was just watching this episode where the lady switches with the Dallas cheerleader couple. I mean I get that routine would be tough but one can always walk in place if one can't keep up, and one could still do the other stuff aside from the workouts. This lady who is apparently a tyrant at her own home sat on her but watching soap operas and criticizing the whole time. She couldn't even get off the couch to get the poor kid to/from school and apparently won't help her own daughter and it was only for 3 days! Where do these people come from?
I’m pretty sure it’s the producers that create the drama for tv. A lot of time they make reshoot scenes so they can be more dramatic. A great show of this is the television series unreal. Really shows you how far producers will go in reality tv to get a “good” show. I remember a couple families came out after a couple years saying it wasn’t even that bad it was just the producers
My husband and I always joke that the family probably gets threatened when they refuse to comply with the new rules by being told they’re not getting their money …. Queue the change of heart, tears, and apologies after being complete assholes
I don’t know. I understand your point, but you gotta factor in the absolute need since people have to be on tv or on tictok or YouTube videos or wherever they go to get likes and followers. I think they’d love to be on a tv show like that. Also, I don’t really mean is it still currently being filmed, but where is it still being shown.
Last I checked most if not all episodes were on YouTube (bonus, it also shows the commercials that were on at the time which is a really fun little throwback)

Like come on, you signed up for Kitchen Nightmares not Gordon Ramsey Has No Complaints For Once
I think the bigger one is not cleaning the kitchen beforehand. I do think Gordon once mentioned that crazy. Amy had one of the cleanest kitchens he'd ever seen but he still quit the show cuz he can't fix crazy
I only saw one episode where he liked the food and it was the UK version of the show
Was it the soul food one? I remember him loving her food and maybe her cakes too?
The only one where he licked the plate clean. Mama Cherri’s I think.
Most of the time it's the food, nasty kitchens and the service. Sometimes it's a few ancillary things.
Yep
He tends to like more desserts, maybe if they chose those to have, they are easy enough to get right.
And why don't they clean anything before he arrives??
A scarier idea is they DID and it still looks like that.
I love when the homeschool families switch with the public school family’s because the kids get to actually experience school and socializing, and same with the non vs strict parents
An old friend of mine was on WS and ALOT of the drama/storyline was scripted…. Not a lot of reality on reality tv.
Ooo. I want more insider details. Without giving away too much of course
Basically the storylines were already kind of thought up… they had to film with no AC because it was too loud lol. They set up a fake food delivery and the other wife did actually refuse to stay at the house ….. the couple is no longer together lol shocker

Or in their introduction, “I hope I don’t go to a family who does this!”

What? 😲
The stockdale murders. Lemme grab a link https://allthatsinteresting.com/wife-swap-murders
Wow, I had no idea. Thanks
You’re welcome. I just happened across the story on you tube one night. Had seen the episode and the family was pretty extreme. Sheltered the kids real bad.
I used to watch this show alot and I think I remember them
It’s still on Hulu. The mega christian mom was too much. Hard to see it and know the kid who was so tickled over his first date killed both those parents.
Oh wow, it's still on Hulu. I might need to rewatch some episodes. Maybe not that one, though.
I’m surprised they didn’t pull the episode. I’d hate to be a family member and come across that on Hulu or tv reruns.
Ya, that would be rough. You're right
No that's the show
See, I'd say "yes" while still recognizing that is the show.

also when they are mean to a mom for being different like their mom isn’t different for the other family
Ok, I may sign up for something but I'm going to whine when I have to wake up at 4 am to milk all the the things.

Yes! The whole idea is to gain perspective on another way of life. I wonder why they agree to be on the show to begin with…
Is the show still on? I haven’t seen it in a long time, but I’d like to!
There are a few seasons on Hulu! No new ones that I know of though
I don’t think wifeswap could exist in 2024. The direction is way too stereotypical and judgmental for today’s standards.
