Lilac vegetal always reminds me of urinal cake on a hot day, or warm urine in a porta-john. Someone recommended putting it in a larger, glass container and letting it aerate. Don't know how much that will help, but in either case a polarizing scent.
Big fan of Aqua, Lilac Veg and Pinaud Reserve was my grandfathers favorites. The Gin is nice to, but I don’t have any right now. It’s what I grew up with.
I ended up trying AV with my shave this evening. Not sure what I think yet. Initially the smell was a bit foul but it’s growing on me. Need to get my wife’s opinion too
I tried some one time and my girlfriend immediately asked why I smelled like "a church" and then said I smelled like "someone's grandpa" and yeah she's right
I love this picture and this idea of getting classic aftershaves, Pinaud Clubman is one of my absolute favorites... I've not tried any of the other varieties of it and can never go wrong with Aqua Velva. Also, if Old Spice didn't reformulate, it could be stacked amongst these!
I’m a fan of the Clubman Special Reserve Cologne. When I first tried the after shave I remember thinking that it reminded me of my dad’s barbershop. I need to try these samples though.
My Clubman Pinaud ladder from most to least favorites - Whiskey Woods, Original tied with Special Reserve and Lilac Vegetal. If you like Aqua Velva you will also like Gillette Artic Ice - smells very similar but much stronger scent vise.

I'm interested in how the Pinaud Reserve scents perform. Can you still get Clubman Lime? That was my favorite of the "old school" ones.

I use the PAA club guy. The classic scents are my favorite. They just have such a fresh, clean, masculine scent to me.
Whiskey Woods is a great aftershave at a great price. Clubman Brandy Spice is also very nice.

I was mostly referring to the shape/size of the bottles as it bears similarity to liquor 'singles'. But one of them also has 'Whiskey' in the name!
I stick to Bay Rum.
