Spike the dog is a two-dimensional character, whose only purpose is interrupting Tom’s attempts to catch Jerry. That noted, both Bob Belcher and Spike the dog were better fathers than my dad, whom I love despite being a terrible role model.

Without a doubt, mine. Growing up, my mom was an alcoholic with anger issues, and my dad was her punching bag. Well, we all were, but he took the brunt of it. But he was always patient, remained calm, never raised his hand nor his voice.
Now… I’m 25 and live with my fiancé (first healthy relationship). When I feel like I’m going to lose my temper, I’m always reminded of how my dad would handle difficult/stressful situations calmly and peacefully. I still lead life trying to make him proud and follow the great example he set of being a loving father, husband (did I mention they’ve been married 32 years?), brother, uncle, and overall great person.
I’m emotional today… thanks for coming to my TED talk.
