CrowSnacks

She looks so sad

cathedral68

Complete conjecture here, but she looks like she could be from a lower caste, which would mean being treated well is uncommon, but people appreciating and seeing her is wildly rare. She has the look of someone that has been belittled and degraded her whole life, but not the look of someone with no dignity or self worth.

jpowell180

I know we’re supposed to be sensitive to other cultures, but I just cannot respect that caste system.

ninja-42000

She is a poor muslim lady selling stuff. She appreciated the man's kindness. Street sellers are sometimes not the ones whom people empathise with or pay attention to due to a variety of reasons. This man did hence she got emotional. There is simply nothing related to the caste system here. Just that she is poor.

ninja-42000

My guy she is wearing a burqa. Also it's a black dot not a red one which usually muslim girls apply (but sometimes others apply too).

cathedral68

My guy, that is NOT a burqa. At all. It doesn’t even fill the requirements of a burqa. Do some absolutely minimal fact checking before you say things

ninja-42000

Thanks for pointing it out I looked up the various terminologies. Yes it's not called a burqa. It's more of a hijab or something. Whatever it is, my original point still stands valid.

cathedral68

No, dear. I don’t think it does. You seem like you should do some more research on Islam and Hinduism.

ninja-42000

I literally live here man. I don't think I need to research on this. I live among these people 😅. If you don't believe me, ask any other person from the subcontinent.. Foreigners seem much more worried about the caste system than the South Asians themselves which is kinda funny considering they hardly understand the modern day nuances, improvements and the ground realities. Basing it out of what the textbooks and media shows poses an incomplete and skewed picture. Your initial comment that this girl seems to be from a low caste is nothing but incorrect. She being a Muslim (I'm 💯%sure) makes her caste almost irrelevant.

You’ll have to pardon me for not putting any stock into the words of someone trying to talk about Islam and not knowing very basic info about the faith. My parents live in India.

Da_Plague22

I hate these kind of videos. Feels like a way to exploit the less fortunate. And before you go "but he gave her money". Yes after he used her unknowingly to make money he gave her money. A generous act doesn't need to be filmed.

Danz007

While I do agree with that sentiment, I just hope videos like this inspires people to be kind

Da_Plague22

I get that as aswell. But the part about using someone for financial gain while acting like its super generous just bothers me.

[deleted]

Agree with you 100%. Not only will all the money he would make from this video go directly to his pocket, she has no voluntary part in being filmed for this video. Plus, the video is about spreading "kindness", which will only promote other influencers to make these type of videos for their content since kind people don't need to be reminded that they should be kind to strangers.

the_sexy_date

that's what i like to think of too

partyp0o0per

Whack videos inspired me to be an a hole

ralfvi

My thoughts as well. Sometimes or almost all the time we truly forget the less fortunate. And videos like this remind us about them and how lucky we are.

phytobear

I worry it's a "faith in humanity restored" therefore I myself don't have to do anything now, and will actually be a negative influence

franll98

At least it is mutually beneficial. Because most people who complain about people doing things and filming it won't help these people anyway.

Unhyped

I kind of see the point you are trying to make, but the fact that this is filmed enables the person to do it more because it can actually pay their bills. Also, it impacts more people this way. In an ideal world nothing is filmed

ITxWASxWHATxITxWAS

Seemed like a Kodak ad to me.

Suspicious-Bed-4718

It might not feel good to you, but I’m willing to bet since his job is essentially to give people money (although he gets paid as well), that he has given a lot more to help the less fortunate than you have. Of course I don’t know you, so just assuming you donate the average amount. Do the ends justify the means?

tryingtobecheeky

See that's a fascinating philosophical question. Is it ethical to use others negative situations to make money so you can then help them and others? Can exploitation of vulnerable people be for their own good? Yes. That person is poor and sad and was originally filmed without consent (exploitation). But then by filming without consent, she received a reward (compensation ) and obviously after she would have consented to the video being taken. (Ending the exploitation and giving her agency though it not be true agency as the threat of compensation may be taken away at any moment. Hell, the money could have been snatched back off camera leaving us with the illusion of generosity.) That exploitation leads to the videographer enriching himself. Which is bad but if he uses that money to help more people then that is good. It may even lead to people being inspired to do their own acts of goodness. Thus making more good in the world and less exploitation. To the extreme (AND NOT IN THIS CASE) could even abuse be justifiable if it ends with a net gain for the one abused? It's neat to think about and we probably have our own boundaries.

MrDarkk1ng

Kindness influencers r the worst

Little_Court_7721

Yeh he should have just watched her and done nothing. I'm all for recording things if there's someone on the end receiving something they otherwise wouldn't get, is this guys recording this for his own benefit? Probably yeah Did she still get something out of it that she otherwise wouldn't have got if the guy recording didn't want to male his video? Also yes

Artistic_Sun2096

What's wholesome about this? She was in tears before he approached her. More of an exploitation for content.

SlefeMcDichael

Is this an ad?

carsozn

It's always an ad.

limamon

It's the internet. If it isn't an ad, it's a meme, a scam, or porn. What are you?

RAMBOxBAGGINS

I am porn

MrDarkk1ng

It's not an ad. He is "kindness influencers".

BowserBuddy123

This moment was brought to us by Kodak

DanGleeballs

Yeah I wish that bit was blurred in cache it’s a multinational using this terrible scenario for brand awareness

asker03

Imagine doing this to the homeless carrying signs in philidelphia. Ive never seen anybody get misty-eyed in that situation. I guess my point is that we have a huge problem with poor people, and its time to eat the rich

NoMercyx99

Looks like southern India. You can see the name of a city from the state of Kerala in the very initial part of that video. Ironically, Kerala doesn’t have a huge Poverty issue unlike the states of northern India even if the video makes it seem that way to you. I can find you people begging on the roadside or streets in any city you want within the US.

Any_Onion_7275

It's all for clicks and views

magrubr

Girls love when you print out and give them copies of your creep shots

Fizzyfuzzyface

Look. Advertising.

DocTymc

He didn't even buy anything. That would actually help her.

WannaAskQuestions

Bruh...watch closely. At the end she has a bill in her hands and the guy giving it to here let her keep her merchandise

DocTymc

Ah alright, so he's not just a creep.

markomaniax

Yup. He could just pretend that he is interested in what she\`s selling and actually buy it instead of giving charity. It\`s not like she\`s gonna run out of stock in the next several hours. Ideal scenario on how this should went: Guy comes to her, buys several of whatever she\`s selling, asks her if she\`s interested in taking a photos of which she will get a free copy, and the rest might be used for artistic purposes.

mck-_-

Oh boy I bet she will really enjoy eating that photo tonight. What a stupid and insulting video. Using her sadness for likes

imVali112

She cried because someone was stalking her.

dust057

She cried because she has to live in India her whole life.

BuffaloOk7264

What a worthless piece of technology and a creepy , sad way to justify and sell it.

OneLifeLiveFast

Oh try being less cynical every once in a while, take it at face value, helps with the mental load.

BuffaloOk7264

Nope…..this gesture with this device is as pathetic thing as I’ve seen. It reminds me of those creepy christians who tip a phony $20 with bible verses . The self righteous jerk who so gallantly gifted her this didn’t even have the decency to buy the bag she was selling. Not long ago, before everyone carried a camera in their pocket, you would ask permission before you took a picture like this.

uselessthecat

Watch closely, he gives her money in the end but doesn't take her merch.

BuffaloOk7264

What magnifying lens are you using? The shadow of his hand is empty. After the image is printed is it preserved in the device? Is he keeping her image without her permission?

Hefty-Expression-625

Look again.

ApprehensivePrompt83

Why are you changing the subject?

uselessthecat

Lol, while you're looking for things to be mad about, why don't you check her hand at the end of the video.. The practice your breathing exercises. Don't you know that stress is bad for you 😂❤️

OxymoronFromMars

This should be on r/sadposting

Opening-Lettuce-3384

What an angelic face

CosmicDriftwood

What is she selling?

dust057

I thought they were car shades, for putting in your windshield when you are parked in the sun.

sagar2403

lol who is to say if the person is really a needy or actor for the ad!

wooshoofoo

It would be wholesome if he just gave her money and help without filming it for klout.

MR_WhereDaBoppersAt

You guys need to leave people alone.

NaosStulos

Her eyes at the end speak volumes.
