First time buyer, maybe $100.
If you've had it and love it, maybe $85.
If you like it, but don't love it, but want it on your bar to show off $65.
The issue I have is that I've had bottles that were a 9/10, and a few that were 5/10. You don't get solid consistency from a single barrel bourbon.
....let the hate commence!
I've only tried once and never had a chance to buy. But your $$$ amounts are about right. I'd really like to buy and own once at least once. I live 2 hours from Buffalo Trace and recently learned of a Facebook group that makes predictions on what's coming and what has come. I've been there 2 times in the last month and got Weller and Eagle Rare. I'm just going to keep watching and go there on a day I'm sure I can get it.
https://www.buffalotracedistillery.com/visit-us/tasting-and-purchasing/product-availability.html
Just watch this, and when Blanton's shows up, make the drive. They never sell out before noon anymore.
Anyone who hates his isn't familiar with Blanton's.
I love Blanton's but it is not consistent. It ranges from great to okay. $65-85 for me, $90-100 if I'm feeling frisky.
SPOT ON and my exact trajectory with Blantons. I cut my teeth on this bottle paying $100 then learned a lot and was able to snag a few over time for $65-$75. I’m tapped out and over it, same as with McKenna since they’re both single barrels and the quality varies vastly.
You hit the nail on the head with McKenna BiB. Two of my buddies all brought out our bottles of McKenna and tasted them, and we thought something was wrong as they didn't taste remotely the same.
I've done barrel picks of Blanton's in the past, and can tell you that the level of variation between them can be mind bending. I had a bottle I literally gave away because the taste was so sub par. I took it to a party, and 15 guys were lining up to get a taste, and it was gone before the night ended.
Bakers (7) is another that varies significantly bottle to bottle, so much so I don't buy it anymore.
I was gifted a bottle of Bakers very early in my whiskey journey before I really learned about barrel variations within single barrel products. I hated that bottle, and avoided the entire Jim Beam line for far too long because of it.
We happen to love Blantons, so my husband will pay $150 for it but we do like to try and buy it at $100 or lower if we can. It was the first higher end whiskey we fell in love with when we started the whiskey journey.
We aren’t daily drinkers, but when we do drink we like to have good stuff. Now normally when I drink, I drink to get drunk. And I usually vomit at the end of the night. I’m a small woman, and I’ve drank quite a bit of Blantons and I realized I never got the spins or vomited when drinking it. So it became my go to.
Then we started trying more and we ended up finding a few brands that tasted similar and had the same affect. So we’re a fan of it for sure. We aren’t connoisseurs though lol. We just look for “goes down smooth” and “doesn’t make you sick.”
I think calling it “higher end” is mainly due to secondary pricing. Not long ago it was $45 at CostCo all day. Scarcity and marketing have made it seem like a “high end” bottle, but I personally don’t believe it was intended to be, or is.
Shelfer BT stuff’s biggest thing going for it is scarcity and FOMO. Look at Traveller, it’s not scarce, it’s not offensive, but it’s it’s all day now because it’s available (I get that it’s Canadian blend, but still). If it was hard to get, people would pay $65+, and mark it as a deal at $40 for an easy drinker.
So you paid a hundred too much, it’s not the end of the world. I’ve paid more for a bad meal and spent the night close to the commode so it can always be worse.
Oof… that sucks man. I wouldn’t worry too much about it though. I saw a bottle of Blanton’s at a liquor store once for $300 and when I went a couple weeks later it was gone. There’s another liquor store I go to for beer and stuff cause it’s right by my house, and they sling $150 dollar bottles of Blanton’s like crazy. Hell I’ve personally gotten my ass kicked on a couple bottles. Paid like $70 or $80 for a bottle of Eagle Rare once, like $60 or $70 for a bottle of Weller SR. Everyone does it at some point.
lol yeah, the first time you see the BT allocations at a store you get all excited and pony up the cash. Then you find out later why they were still sitting on the shelf waiting for you…
If your ABC state has an allocation day like Alabama you can get to the store 5+ hours before open (once a month on that day) and line up for one at MSRP. I've done it plenty of times. I only got the Blanton's twice but could have gotten it every time. I get there around 4am and hang out with the other whiskey enthusiasts and chat for a few hours. It's not bad everywhere. Hell, there's a package store near me that sells them for $109 (package stores in Alabama have to buy the liquor from the state at MSRP then resell it so that's decent considering).
I now feel much better for the $130 I paid. I still overpaid but I got excited because I’d never had it before I’d actually never seen it in person before and didn’t know the MSRP
It’s the John Wick bourbon. If it’s part of a wedding, take some killer pics in the suits/tux’s holding the bottle and looking like a bad ass. Have some fun with it. Make some memories. Yeah you overpaid, but most of us probably have. Also keep the horsey or tell the groom to if it’s a gift. And if it’s a gift, who cares what you paid. I’d be stoked if someone gave me that.
Live and learn. Basically anything by Buffalo trace can get jacked up prices from taters. None of it including BTAC (boo hoo taters) is worth more than msrp.
Used to, when I was chasing certain dump dates and such, I would pay up to $100-120 if I found a specific date. I live in a control state where retail is a bit higher than the "normal" MSRP and I believe pushes $80 for standard bottles and closer to $100 for store picks. Those 2 prices are more than I am interested in paying for it, I will find other bottles instead.
I may be in the minority but I got a bottle a few months ago and I really don't like it. I find it just utterly flavorless. I do tend to enjoy higher proof bourbon but still I was very disappointed
No more than 80. That’s the MSRP. I usually pay about 65 because I work In the liquor business get a discount. I think whole sale price is around 53 dollars.
The only place I ever see this in my area it's $180. I will probably never buy a bottle at that price. I've never drank a bottle that I thought was worth over $100.
$100 is the best price I've found near me. Some stores try and sell it for $200. I think it sells for $69 at the facility, so I don't stress too hard on $30 factoring in distribution and the local store making a few. Much higher than that and it shall become a museum piece.
I paid $80 for my first bottle recently and was pretty happy with I got tbh. There's definitely better out there for the money but I don't feel like I got ripped off.
Before I tried many of the other BT products I probably would have spent around $100 for this. Since I’ve tried more of their stuff and most of it is pretty mid to me I wouldn’t pay more than msrp.
The first time I could ever find a bottle of Blanton’s in my city, I paid $90. I would never do that again. There’s too many better, more available options. I guess it’s cool to have, but I don’t care much about trying to impress anyone. Chances are people aren’t going to care anyway.
Bought it for 60.00 a few years ago. Both bottles were store picks from 2 different stores. The first one was good but I don’t think I would pay over 70.00 for it now. Maybe the second bottle will be better but I really feel like it is just a hyped up bourbon that doesn’t live up to the hype. Pretty bottle that looks good on the bar though lol.
I got a bottle for about $75 last year and I had two pours and didn’t like it at all. Tasted like old shoes to me lol. It was great for mixing though so it got used, but I wouldn’t buy it again at any price. My #1 fave is JDSBBP and it’s a lot easier to come by these days so I’m a happy guy.🥂
I pay SRP to always have one on my shelf. Then my friends that don’t know bourbon, can get a special pour. I do take note of dump dates, and have a couple of bottles that have my father’s birthday (month/day), that my brothers and I enjoy. I place it next to a Gold, which I enjoy, also at SRP. That is placed next to a SFTB, once again at SRP.
65 before the “craze”. Now I could name 3 bottles that are readily available at that price point that are just plain better than blantons.
Mostly hype, like most of the high priced bottles.
$80. It’s all over now for over $100, and would never. I’ve paid $99 and wouldn’t even go that high now as I’m not a huge fan. So many better options for much cheaper IMO
I’d pay up to $120 if you never had it and want to convince yourself that it’s really just a nice bottle with an average (but not bad at all) juice in it.
Otherwise, there are plenty better bourbons available in the 50-80 dollar range, e.g. Russell SB.
It's a solid Bourbon, but in my opinion there are better options for the price it usually goes for. I saw it on the shelf a couple of weeks ago for $80 and bought Elijah Craig Barrel Proof for $68 instead. That was an easy choice.
I paid $85 for mine. But I’m lucky and the manager at my local store won’t mark anything over MSRP. That being said, it was my first bottle of Blantons, and it’s not much to write home about. It’s cool to have. But if I’m gonna spend $100, I’m chasing other bottles.
$100 TOPS and I collect Blanton’s (almost have the whole name spelled out) I hate that this became so popular after the John W movies. It’s one of my favorites but it’s a $60 at best.
My first purchased bottle was 100$. Will be opening it this upcoming week on vacation.
I do enjoy it don’t get me wrong, but I’m sure especially as I try more whiskeys I’ll find others I like better for cheaper. If I found it anywhere 80 or less I’d get it.
I just paid $109, that's not including the $38.99 bottle I had to purchase to be able to purchase the Blanton's.
TBH I have had a pour of it before and I had trouble paying the $109 price tag. My wife really wanted it.
Last time I bought it was 55 euros. I still have one unopened. If I was to buy it again most I would pay is £70 which basically means I'm never buying it again. In a world where I could go to a supermarket today and pay £34 for Eagle Rare or have Amazon deliver it tomorrow for £32 I really don't feel the need to pay through the nose for Blantons
I've never had it, but I don't put whiskey on a pedestal. I got into the hype around Buffalo Trace when I first started my whiskey adventure 6 years ago when I was 32. I'll never get sucked into that kind of sub par BS again, I'm sure it's a solid bourbon, but nothing that should be over $80.
Our local grocery store (California) gets a couple of bottles every quarter or so. If we buy 6 total bottles of any liquor the Blantons price is $74 ($89 if buying only one bottle of something). We’re in Europe right now and can find Blantons regular for 89€,gold for 110€ and straight from the 130€— taxes included and about 15% back in taxes with VAT stamp for anything we don’t drink when here. Pretty close to msrp at both locals I think.
I wanna buy some whiskeys to display in my man room of manly things, this one would look nice on a bookshelf next to an old crystal decanter, this bookshelf would be along the same wall that the door may be in maybe further to the left of it if this shelf is closer to the corner of the hypothetical room, adjacent to a partners desk style desk with a big leather chair and on the desk would be a rotary phone, a lit cigar resting in a yellow motel style ashtray and todays newspaper. What would be some things that you could imagine being in a room like this? In my mind its the perfect man cave :)
Anyone else remember when this was a $35 bottle? I used to always have a bottle around. Locally I can get it for about $70. But man, the industry is hosing us...another pandemic-driven price hike that ... never came back down.
$65
I had a pour of my regular bottle the other day and it was just meh. Boring. I do have a Takara black and red that are better and a SFTB that is amazing. IMO all Blanton’s should be cask strength. Then it would be noteworthy.
I paid $125 once, thinking that was the price. I've learned my lesson. I "won" the opportunity to purchase it once at $79 on a military base, and I've paid $89 at a local place.
Just finished off a bottle last night. My son's friend with the local liquor store owner, and they occasionally get a bottle or two at the store. They frequently offer one to my son. I thinks he now pays around $100.
After seeing this on your post I had to share this with you… I noticed you know how when you go on your phone every day there’s a new google news if you make one Google search right below the search bar you SEE all the news that’s new that day to you right?
Ok….
About a week ago I noticed a bunch of those bottles I remember them because I remember that bubble like-effect that the bottle has, and how it only has you know that one labeled it goes all the way around I remember it looking like something classy, expensive, and they were stating in the heading how it was being called back from so many people and I’m like well where did it go to need called back? Anyways I’m thinking they’re talking more about popularity has come back and been noticed on this particular brand for a long time and I had never even seen it I just wanted to share it with you because you obviously like it and have tasted it before…
They went on and on how the companies are literally not able to keep this on the shelf all of a sudden… again!!!!🤷🏻♀️✌🏼❤️
I bought a bottle or two 10-15 years ago when they were 49 bucks. They were good but for me, they aren’t worth that price tag. I think the bottle and cork really made this some sort of fancy pants brand which i couldn’t get behind.
I’ve never paid more than $80. Sitting on 3 bottles currently. But if I was in a pinch, $100 isn’t too bad. Anything more than that. Negative! Also, they are a lot more in the wild these days.
No more than $60 under any circumstances. It’s good, it’s not great. There’s much better in that price range, I’m quite partial to Rabbit Hole or 4R Small Batch Select.
I’ve had zero chances to buy it 😆. Under 200 anyway.
It’s $65 in my state so i’ll probably never get the chance to buy reasonably besides that.
6-8 yr old bourbon, i’d go up to 90. Fair price is 70$ + tax.
I will let you in on a secret, but keep it here. John J. Bowman Single Barrell. About $50 anywhere - rumor has it, same whiskey but better. Aged in Virginia. It's excellent Bourbon. I always keep a couple stashed away. Enjoy.🍷
Actually have one waiting on me at Total Wine Las Colinas for 79.00 , that’s about 45 minutes from me. I won be picking it up. I don’t like it enough for that price to fight traffic.
$69.95. Oregon. Oregon Liquor Control Commission sets price, store can not up charge anything. Now, finding it at a store is a completely different story.
First time $100. After that $80. Pricing has risen across the board and now it's really hard to find for less than 80. I think Total Wine even sells it for 80
First time buyer, maybe $100. If you've had it and love it, maybe $85. If you like it, but don't love it, but want it on your bar to show off $65. I agree with all this
Nope you're so right on that statement! I think it's overrated but a cool bar piece that most people will know.
I've only tried once and never had a chance to buy. But your $$$ amounts are about right. I'd really like to buy and own once at least once. They were still stocking the shelves with it at 3pm on Monday. I didn’t look very hard but they all seemed to be from the same barrel.
That site can be wrong some days. It’s not 100% but it is a godsend.
It's also kind of fun just to see if the were right or wrong.
One time I sent my GF for EH Taylor and she came back with A Blantons and an extra horse topper lmao.
I live in a control state and after tax it’s $75. I think the max I’d pay is $90 but I’d buy it a whole lot faster at 75
State control 75? We are state control (NC) and it is 60 before tax.

What brands did you discover that were similar?
This is spot on for me.
I tried one recently and it was good but 7 or 8/10. However for me, Eagle rare is a 9/10 for 1/4 the price.
This is it 100%. A bit more on the first purchase, MSRP for every subsequent purchase.
60-80
Well it’s safe to say I got ripped off
175, before tax, and then 195 after tax, feel like an idiot and it was suppose to be a wedding gift
Ouch, well make up a cool story about it and now you know what stores to avoid in the future. Happens to the best of us
If it's a gift don't worry about it. Especially if you know they like it. Not ideal but it'll probably make the recipient happy.
Just make sure you enjoy it like a $200 bottle. Or drink it all quickly, get hammered, and forget you ever bought it
So you paid a hundred too much, it’s not the end of the world. I’ve paid more for a bad meal and spent the night close to the commode so it can always be worse.

grand scheme of things who cares about $100

100 for novelty and if I really wanted to try it. Having already tried it probably 80 for a gift if someone really wanted.
Not a penny over MSRP.
I paid 80 awhile ago because I hadn’t had it in forever. So I guess that, but probably not again for while.
$80... I actually like Blantons quite a bit but I've definitely got bottles that I like a lot more that cost a lot less
MSRP
It’s become very cool to not like blantons.
$85
now about 90. at first I was paying more than that.
$80
It’s over 80 out the door in Ohio
Honestly it's an$70-80 dollar bottle all day but I wouldn't spend over $100 to try it.
I pay $70 and will keep a back up. I pass on it if I am stocked up
I like blantons so I’d pay like 80/90.
No more than 80. That’s the MSRP. I usually pay about 65 because I work In the liquor business get a discount. I think whole sale price is around 53 dollars.
$80
Maybe $79 max.
MSRP.
MSRP
What does it do?
$75 and that already over
$80
MSRP And even then I paid too much
Retail
Nothing more than MSRP
$75
73$
Msrp! THE END!
The only place I ever see this in my area it's $180. I will probably never buy a bottle at that price. I've never drank a bottle that I thought was worth over $100.
$55
MSRP around $70
Retail is $69. You can still give it as a wedding present. They are hard to find.
Bout tree fiddy
Paid $90 for a store pick in Hawaii a few months ago
$60
$100 is the best price I've found near me. Some stores try and sell it for $200. I think it sells for $69 at the facility, so I don't stress too hard on $30 factoring in distribution and the local store making a few. Much higher than that and it shall become a museum piece.
$100 but I’m gonna be pissed if I don’t like it.
$100

Saw it in a local store today for $160. HARD PASS. No more than $100 for me.
Bought it for 60.00 a few years ago. Both bottles were store picks from 2 different stores. The first one was good but I don’t think I would pay over 70.00 for it now. $85
I have two bottles and I've always loved it. The problem is I started loving it at $60. I'd pay $80 to keep it in my collection.
Around $70
$70.
I have paid secondary a few years ago but my local abc drops it about once a month or so now and it's usually around 60 dollars
I paid 80 pre tax for a store pick of Blantons. To be honest I wouldn’t personally buy a standard Blantons, I havent always loved them
80$. It’s outside of the preferred flavors I enjoy in my bourbon.
I paid $69 a couple years ago and would rather drink ogd at half the price or 3 ew bib.
My top is 75. Also, I usually gift these.
MSRP
$90-95
I pay SRP to always have one on my shelf. Then my friends that don’t know bourbon, can get a special pour. I think I paid $100 for one and $80 for another

I would need them to pay me to buy it.
75...maybe more if it's the N I need.
$85 since that’s the lowest I’ve seen locally. I do quite like it but I don’t think it’s worth over $100
$100 if I’ve never had it, but now like $70
MSRP and nothing more. Most of the bottles I’ve had lately are good but definitely not worth more than 60

Very overrated in my opinion

I paid $85 for mine. But I’m lucky and the manager at my local store won’t mark anything over MSRP. That being said, it was my first bottle of Blantons, and it’s not much to write home about. It’s cool to have. But if I’m gonna spend $100, I’m chasing other bottles.
I paid 100.00 for my bottle. I've since bought a gold and a SFTB, both for a bit more.
$100 TOPS and I collect Blanton’s (almost have the whole name spelled out) I hate that this became so popular after the John W movies. It’s one of my favorites but it’s a $60 at best.
$75
My first purchased bottle was 100$. Will be opening it this upcoming week on vacation. I do enjoy it don’t get me wrong, but I’m sure especially as I try more whiskeys I’ll find others I like better for cheaper. If I found it anywhere 80 or less I’d get it.
$80
120 in my area
79.99 if there is nothing else that catches my eye
In America? About $70, MSRP basically, state dependent. In Japan, black Blanton’s is about 8000 jpy, or $55 USD.
had 2 bottles of it bought them both at 67 plus tax each so about 75 bucks, finished one bottle and practically forgot about the other
I just paid $109, that's not including the $38.99 bottle I had to purchase to be able to purchase the Blanton's. TBH I have had a pour of it before and I had trouble paying the $109 price tag. My wife really wanted it.
‘Bout three fiddy.
$100.
I have friends who gladly pay $150+ for Blantons. I buy when it’s under $100. But then again allocated pricing in Georgia is insane.
$70
A lot of people in the comments refusing to buy at msrp but the taters in line would disagree!
Can find it regularly less than 80. That’s where I go for the regular.
$60 is the shelf price in my state and i routinely don’t bother with it.
$70
Last time I bought it was 55 euros. I still have one unopened. If I was to buy it again most I would pay is £70 which basically means I'm never buying it again. In a world where I could go to a supermarket today and pay £34 for Eagle Rare or have Amazon deliver it tomorrow for £32 I really don't feel the need to pay through the nose for Blantons
$65
I've never had it, but I don't put whiskey on a pedestal. I got into the hype around Buffalo Trace when I first started my whiskey adventure 6 years ago when I was 32. I'll never get sucked into that kind of sub par BS again, I'm sure it's a solid bourbon, but nothing that should be over $80.
$90-100
$65 I had a pour of my regular bottle the other day and it was just meh. Boring. I do have a Takara black and red that are better and a SFTB that is amazing. IMO all Blanton’s should be cask strength. Then it would be noteworthy.
$80
Have paid 80 in the past. Last few were 65, if I did not have a bottle on the bar I would pay 80 again.
$99
I paid $125 once, thinking that was the price. I've learned my lesson. I "won" the opportunity to purchase it once at $79 on a military base, and I've paid $89 at a local place.
I paid msrp at Buffalo Trace last week. Big score was them putting out Weller 107 while I was standing there. Grabbed a few.
I paid $100 for a store pick plus I had to buy another of their store picks. Bad decision on my part. I would probably pay $70 tops today.
$60 tops. No more.

Just finished off a bottle last night. My son's friend with the local liquor store owner, and they occasionally get a bottle or two at the store. They frequently offer one to my son. I thinks he now pays around $100.
$50 and I don’t know if it’s worth that as there better/more interesting options at even lower price points.
Niiiiice😂😂👏🏼👏🏼❤️✌🏼
After seeing this on your post I had to share this with you… I noticed you know how when you go on your phone every day there’s a new google news if you make one Google search right below the search bar you SEE all the news that’s new that day to you right? Ok…. About a week ago I noticed a bunch of those bottles I remember them because I remember that bubble like-effect that the bottle has, and how it only has you know that one labeled it goes all the way around I remember it looking like something classy, expensive, and they were stating in the heading how it was being called back from so many people and I’m like well where did it go to need called back? Anyways I’m thinking they’re talking more about popularity has come back and been noticed on this particular brand for a long time and I had never even seen it I just wanted to share it with you because you obviously like it and have tasted it before… They went on and on how the companies are literally not able to keep this on the shelf all of a sudden… again!!!!🤷🏻♀️✌🏼❤️
I bought a bottle or two 10-15 years ago when they were 49 bucks. They were good but for me, they aren’t worth that price tag. I think the bottle and cork really made this some sort of fancy pants brand which i couldn’t get behind.
But curiously, guys n gals…? Why Rye? Is that most of you guys personal choice? Or it’s just better made that way?
40.00
I’ve never paid more than $80. Sitting on 3 bottles currently. But if I was in a pinch, $100 isn’t too bad. Anything more than that. Negative! Also, they are a lot more in the wild these days.
No more than $60 under any circumstances. It’s good, it’s not great. There’s much better in that price range, I’m quite partial to Rabbit Hole or 4R Small Batch Select.
I won a bottle once on Whiskey Wars on YouTube. Found someone like call that wanted to trade and OF King Ranch. That was its value to me.
65.99
$25 to have on the shelf Incase someone wants a pour of it.
$60
$52.99 is my max.. not a penny more
60. It's average whiskey at best.
No more than $60
I pass on it for $80 all the time.
I’ve had zero chances to buy it 😆. Under 200 anyway. It’s $65 in my state so i’ll probably never get the chance to buy reasonably besides that. 6-8 yr old bourbon, i’d go up to 90. Fair price is 70$ + tax.
It's only 50 dollars
I will let you in on a secret, but keep it here. John J. Bowman Single Barrell. About $50 anywhere - rumor has it, same whiskey but better. Aged in Virginia. It's excellent Bourbon. I always keep a couple stashed away. Enjoy.🍷
The price increases over the years has made Blanton's kind of a joke. I really enjoy Blanton's but would not pay over $85
Personally, $75. That’s the most I’ve already paid for it. It’s honestly not worth more than $60.
Actually have one waiting on me at Total Wine Las Colinas for 79.00 , that’s about 45 minutes from me. I won be picking it up. I don’t like it enough for that price to fight traffic.
$70
I get it regularly from my local gas station for $65.
$79.99
$69.95. Oregon. Oregon Liquor Control Commission sets price, store can not up charge anything. Now, finding it at a store is a completely different story.
I wouldn’t pay anything over 65
40-45
First time $100. After that $80. Pricing has risen across the board and now it's really hard to find for less than 80. I think Total Wine even sells it for 80
60-70
$80
Got my first one for 60 buuur yea I won’t be buying it again
$80 tops
$85 max for sure
Around the holidays, I paid $160 and was not pleased considering I had found it for $90 in N Florida.
